Review #1, by scarlett_811Deteriorate : The Truth About the Scar

8th September 2013:
This story is really well written, with clear character development but the plot is so infuriating I just couldn't finish it.

Multiple are based on the main characters' refusal to discuss an issue; the "big misunderstanding" is a highly implausible and overused trope that made me want to stop reading immediately. Rina's dramatic thoughts and actions simply weren't believable and were instead frustrating since there was no justifiable reason for her actions

I skipped a lot in the hope that the plot would improve but instead it got worse. Allie's entire subplot was so incredibly steeped in damaging stereotypes that I wanted to throw up. I know this is fanfiction, not published literature, but you have legitimized the criticism of girls sleeping around, while portraying the boys who do so in a positive manner, which adds to the systemic sl*t-shaming of girls.

Finally, when all of that was over, you resolved the primary conflict between the two main characters (which was underdeveloped to start with) in a manner which was simultaneously unbelievably dramatic (falling off a broom, seriously?) and which delegitimized the previous portrayal of their personal issues. When Rina simply woke up to James being okay with her, it was jarring for the reader and denied us the opportunity to see their relationship evolve.

I wish this story had a better plot, because it is really well written and I was looking forward to see what you did with the truly fantastic characters, but there were so many irritating cliches and truly offensive plotlines that I don't want to force myself to even finish this.

Review #3, by scarlett_811The Feelings Mutual: Like a delicate primose, we will grow

I've been reading for a while and still have about 30 chapters to go but I love how you have drawn from so many characters that I recognise. I especially love the George/Alanna analogy as I can see it now you mention it. Love the story!

Review #5, by scarlett_811Stage of Ice: Who's who?

30th January 2010:
I really like this story but i have a question about the play pairings. Didn't Princess Margaret marry the King of Scotland and Mary married the King of France and after he died she married Charles Brandon? I'm just wondering and its not a criticism of your story in any way.

Author's Response: Margaret did marry Charles Brandon but I'm not so sure about Mary and the King of France. I think that is what might have happened in real life. But I'm basing the play on the TV series 'The Tudors' because the story line is simpler than the actual history - it has a lot of complicated relationships and people dying and random people popping out for no where so for the sake of this story I decided to follow the TV series. It makes everything simpler for me and the readers as well.
Thank you for the review and if you need anything else clearing up please do ask i'll be happy to answer :)
