Sure, you usually just add them to your favourites and when you go to your favourites, you see whether there's more chapters or not ... and on every list of stories, the ones that have been updated most recently are on top of the list, so if you find one of your favourite stories there, that means they've updated. But I usually just check on my favourites from time to time and when I see there's another chapter, then great, they've obviously updated ... if you were talking about some function that would send you a message telling you when which author updated though, I can't help you. I don't think there exists one. You usually just look.
