This is the best one-shot I have ever read. It made me think so much and it astounded me that I, who have read so much into the details of Harry Potter, had never even considered the Mirror creating a Dark witch through it's reflection. This was spectacular.Author's Response: Thankyou so much! I don't really know where the plot came from, I just started writing the story and it just felt right. Thanks for your review :) Report Review
Hey there! It's me with your requested review :) I have to say that from the first few paragraphs you had me hooked. The way you wrote the mirror being so contradictory was just fantastic for the way you were writing its point of view, and although it would have been a strange venture if I hadn't actually read it, you made the Mirror's POV work extremely well, with its 'seeing inside people'. It worked really well at pulling me into the story. I love how you showed Dominique too; with the physical inabilities and no confidence at the beginning, and how both the mirror and everyone else was comparing Dominique to her siblings and family. When she looked in the mirror, you had her shifting desires perfectly down, because it showed us through the mirror exactly what she wanted. I love how you showed Dominique's memory flashes, and how they shaped her desires now. The other little bits of gathering information, like how the Veela genes missed her and how muggleborns were always prioritised (which is a really great point that I'd actually never considered, but now you say it, I think it would almost certainly have happened). The way you showed her at the end, the new change, was just fantastic; how she was more confident and thought it was a fortune-telling mirror, and the mirror wishing to talk... it was just brilliant, because it was so sinister and foreboding! I so wish this was a longer fic. I think it worked so well because at the beginning, we were expecting a Harry-ish wish for Dominique to be looked up to, but it turned so dark; especially since she was just 14, it worked really well for shocking us! This is just brilliant, I love it! I'm so glad you requested :) 10/10! ~TGKAuthor's Response: Wow! Thankyou so much :) I did consider making this a bit longer (at least a couple more chapters) but have left it for the moment to see if anyone else things there should be more :) Thankyou so much! Hi there, it's Atomic from the forums with your requested review!!! I don't think the POV is strange at all, in fact, I absolutely loved it!!! I think it was very original and you did a marvelous job with it, too. The only thing I didn't really like about the story was the ending. I might suggest you just leave it with the Mirror's last thoughts. That felt like a very nice end, whereas ending with Dominique feels more like a cliffhanger. But yeah, you did a great job with the story. It was a very easy read and I absolutely love the plot! It was so original and very fresh! Great job!Author's Response: Thankyou very much :) I wondered about the ending aswell, and still am not sure! Thanks again :) Report Review
This one-shot is completely unique to anything I've ever read before. I loved the idea of telling it from the Mirror's point if view! I absolutely loved Dominique's characterisation as I found it so fascinating that she was likened to both her Uncle Ron, and also Voldemort. Also, you gave a great insight to the post-war wizarding world and it interesting how you mentioned that the Muggle borns were priority over pure bloods. Brilliant descriptions and a definite 10/10Author's Response: Wow! Sorry for not replying sooner - my computer broke down! Thankyou so much for this great review! It was just an idea I had after looking at a challenge :) Thanks for the support!! Keira :) Report Review
Wow this was a great little one-shot! Definitely unique in the characterizations, and her deepest desire really surprised me. Who knew Dominique would have such a dark streak? I thought this was written really well and I really enjoyed it! :) ~Maddie xAuthor's Response: Thankyou so much! I was really nervous that nobody would understand it and think I was completely loony! Sorry I haven't replied sooner - my computer broke! Thanks again :) Keira :) Report Review
