Review #26, by bandnerd09 Everything is Different

20th July 2011:
Ok, me again. I just had to write this before I forgot, and so I could feel smart, if I was correct...

ok, so i had this random thought!
my prediction that Harry's all of a sudden night-vision is from Voldemort. Because Voldemort is turning into a super freak, and they're connected, therefore, Harry is getting some of his super freak powers? I could be totally off. But that would be super cool. haha.
OOORRR, something to do with Fawkes. But I really hope the first one is the correct prediciton though, haha.

YOU'RE BACK! Thankfully it is summer and, for once, there was no one sitting next to me somewhere in a library on campus when I shrieked and slammed my head against the wall behind me. As usual, great chapter(s). Harry and Kally are so melodramatic. I loved the firetruck stuffed toy part...that was hilarious. When do we finally get to have Kally learn everything about Harry? It's so frustrating!! I'm so glad you are back...it's been forever...

Review #28, by Mia Prologue - Lightning Strikes

20th July 2011:
wow firefawn! Where do i even begin! I began reading this story on quizilla almost 7 years ago now, back when i had just begun high school. Myself and 2 other friends stumbled across quizilla and we had never read fanfiction before, and just became absolutely obsessed with this spin off. In fact, I remember when you announced you would be moving this story to HPFF. And thank goodness you did, because if you hadn't I would never have found HPFF! In fact, it is because of you that my love for harry potter fan fiction started. You brought me to this website, and for that I must thank you! I gave up eclipse of the sky not long after you started posting on here, purely because you took so long to update, but having stumbled upon it once more tonight, I will have to get reading. So glad you're still going with the story. And once again, thankyou so much for introducing me to the world of HPFF (even though you didn't realise!).

20th July 2011:
You have no idea how surprised I was when I saw you updated in 2011, a week ago! I rushed and reread all of your chapters because its been yeaaars. Its funny, back on quizilla, you got me into fanfiction. I started reading it again last fall, and now.. I'm just so happy to see you back! I really hope you finish this. I'm not sureee, but I don't believe there was ever a conclusion on quizilla? Idk, I could be wrong. That was a long time ago.

Annnyways, great job, firefawn! Your writing never disappoints me. I'm starting to like Kally more and like Harry less. Lol. He has such a big ego, haha. I'm excited to see Ron as a werewolf and Hermione back! Ohh, and what about Krum? I want hermione and krum together now. Haha.

Anyways, I know this was half-chatty/half-review, so hopefully the half-review makes up for my chattyness. Hopefully Chapter 39 will be up soon!

I think the new chapters are merging with the old ones seamlessly. Also, I am so glad that there has finally been some Harry/Kally action! Keep up the excellent work :). Btw, I've never been thanked in an author's note before! *blushes* Thanks for making my day :)

Review #31, by albusdumbledore Everything is Different

19th July 2011:
Good chapter. Found Remus's reactions to be very in sync with his character. The effects of unicorn blood on Kally's abilities are very interesting. I like how this story is somewhat like science fiction :-) - the reasoning behind the magic (the combinations that you've tried out, such as the mixture of Reach and unicorn blood; Bellatrix becoming a vampire), sometimes derived from fantasy, and sometimes from science (as with your explanation of blood cells a few chapters back), makes it very interesting.

I found Kally's reaction to Harry's statements towards the end surprising though. I thought that she would perhaps understand his habit of perpetually thinking about others' safety being compromised by him.

Review #32, by albusdumbledore It is Burnt

19th July 2011:
This dialogue of Harry's from the chapter before last was good - 'The past does repeat itself... '

It shows the complexity of the character - made me instinctively dislike the dialogue (as spoken in that context); yet I thought it was good in making Harry's character more complex. [reminded me, while writing this, of Harry's confrontation with Lupin in the seventh book - when he calls Lupin a coward]

Fred's 'egg attack' was nice :-)

Review #33, by albusdumbledore The Calm Before the Storm

19th July 2011:
Hi firefawn

How are you? Was very happy (and excited) to see the update. Have been checking it every month or so. Had to look twice to be sure that the update date read 2011, and not 2007 :-)

Don't know if I mentioned this earlier, but I really liked the concept of the porous barrier within Kally's mind.

I thought the hospital scene was good; as in the previous case with the fisherman, I found it very interesting to see how the scene behaves as a short story in itself.

Looking forward to the chapters ahead!

Review #34, by TooGoodtobeTrue The Rat Hunt

18th July 2011:
Phew! I feel like I need a rest after the past few chapters. All this action has my adrenaline pumping. I went back and reread from chapter 34 straight through to this chapter to get a feel for all the chapters together as a whole and this felt like a very nice conclusion to this story arc (because I feel like chapters 34-37 are really one long chapter that had to be split for length's sake). I don't know if I've said it before, but you're ability to paint such a vivid picture with words is amazing. Throughout the whole chapter I had a clear picture of what was going on, and that is always a plus.

Again, I love the addition of Fred and George in the story. You have their characters done perfectly, and as I said before I really appreciate that because they lighten everything up considerably. Just when things get a bit too tense or dramatic they are ready to throw out a joke or two to diffuse the situation and make the other characters stop taking themselves too seriously. Especially Percy. Oh the poor, misguided Weasley son. I'm amazed he didn't have a meltdown when Fred and George began bantering with him. The poor guy is a slave to his own ideals.

Anyways, Umbridge was as delightful as she was in the book. I would have been happy to see her "accidentally" squished by some fallen rubble. Or at the very least get a good kick from Harry.

I liked that you tied up the loose end with Peter, but I don't feel like it is over yet. We need justice, and I trust that with your love of destroying things you'll figure out a great way to make sure justice is served. I for one am not content to see him simply get captured. I know Harry's not either so I'm sure he'll gnaw at your brain until you come up with a suitable end for Peter. If Harry's not doing his job to bother your brain, feel free to put me in where he should be =P PS I positively loved Remus's little line that he threw in there "I believe your ministry awarded him a metal of honor..." Score: one Remus, zero ministry.

Um let's see what else... The Harry/Kally relationship is progressing nicely. It's good to see that their snark is still as strong as ever. I just don't think they'd be the same without it. Especially since they are both so damn headstrong and sure of themselves. I am interested to watch their relationship progress and to see them inevitably get in the way of themselves (because Harry is incapable of not saying/doing absolutely stupid things, and Kally seems to love to risk her life in ways that push Harry's buttons).

I will have to get over to the forums one of these days because I would like to take a look at the old version. I will do that... soonish. Right after I read chapter 38 (which has been taunting me since you put it up, but I still had 37 to read thanks to life throwing some curve balls) and get some real life stuff completed. Seriously I don't know how you manage to find the time to get out these amazing (and super long) chapters in the midst of your busy life. I'm quite certain my life isn't near as busy as yours (if only because I'm a sane person and I took the summer off from school =P) but I can't fathom having enough time to get these chapters out as consistently as you do. Now that I think about it I seem to remember something about you not sleeping very much...

Back to Fawkes: I had my suspicions that something more was going on there... Of course you didn't answer my questions at all which just leads to more curiosity on my part, but I'm glad to know that I'm not totally off base. That story arc is very interesting to me (and so mysterious because you have given us almost ZERO information about it) so I'm eager to see you advance it.

Alright! I think I've covered everything! Huzzah! Now if only I could move on to chapter 38... Alas that will have to wait until tomorrow. Hopefully. Cross your fingers that I can get all my work done tomorrow and reward myself by reading 38.

PS Why do they give you a limit? I don't think they give us a limit when writing a review, so I see no reason for them to give you a limit! Or perhaps they do give us a limit and I've just never reached it. That simply will not do. I will have to try harder next time to write a review that pushes the limits of the character length! But in all seriousness, thank you for taking the time to reply to my reviews in such great depth! It's nice to get my questions answered (or at least acknowledged) and to know that my long, drawn out reviews are actually appreciated! I know you've got other things to attend to, so I feel it's appropriate to again say thanks for taking the time!

Review #35, by Karina Seed of Distrust

17th July 2011:
I knew I remembered lots of bickering between those two, and I'm sure there is still more to come. I really liked the part where Harry told her about why only certain people can see Thestrals and I thought that her reaction and subsequent indifference to Hagrid and Harry was great, just the kind of emotionally blocked reaction I've come to expect from her.

I have decided to review every chapter as I go because I feel as though your story deserves. It is no wonder that it is a favorite to so many people and the most reviewed story in this site's history. It truly is a masterpiece in the making :)

Review #36, by Karina Entangled Webs

17th July 2011:
This is rather odd... I am remembering things as they happen but it still seems new at the same time... regardless I love it all!

The banter between Kingsley and Tonks was entertaining, I usually picture Kingsley as more of a silent, slow to speak type but his frustration coupled with Tonks' challenging indifference works very well here, nicely done.

Now I must muse over what it is that Kalliandra is ordering from Borgin and what she intends to pay him with... very curious... information perhaps? or some dark magical item? but she doesn't really like magic so that doesn't seem plausible... ah well I shall continue on and find out!

I hope your day is filled with sunshine!

Review #38, by Karina Prologue - Lightning Strikes

17th July 2011:
I had honestly given up on this story a long time ago. I couldn't even quite remember the name of the story but I remembered your penname and tonight on a whim I searched it.

When Eclipse of the Sky came up my eyes went directly to the chapter count but I couldn't even remember how many chapters you had left off with so when I saw 38 I didn't really react but then my eyes wandered down to the latest chapter update thingy they have now and I had to do a double take. I didn't believe that I was actually seeing the numbers 2011 all in a row like that.

I started shaking with excitement and then I went to your page to see if there was an explanation for your long absence and what do I find instead? Not one new chapter but six and a promise of another in just a week?! You quite possibly have made my summer.

My only regret is that I can't seem to remember much about your story. What I do remember was Harry and Kally fighting quite a bit... but anyway in the past I wanted to re-read this story but I couldn't bring myself to do it knowing that it still wasn't finished. Now I can finally re-read it and find out how it ends :) And having just finished the prologue I must say that it is just as great as I remember it being.

Thanks for not giving up on this story even after so long of a break, I'll review again when I've caught myself up :)

Review #40, by Blue Flame The Eccentric Depths of Professor Gai

16th July 2011:
Aha, took me a bit but back to finish reviewing these lovely chapter! =P

'Too late though. Hermione had heard and was glaring at them both as if they had just personally signed a court order condemning every house elf to a concentration camp.' -- definitely my favorite line, totally laughed out loud at it. =)

Alright, to some thoughts! I LOVE professor Gai, he certainly is eccentric. =P Quite the interesting professor to bring in, looking forward to seeing more of this lovely teaching style. The concept of intuition and what not is also a good one to bring up, I think. ^_^ Very curious.

And as always, lovely chapter! I honestly like have you have Draco in this, as well as the banetr between Ron and Hermione. I think there were some points where you could kind of get a bit...lost in the chapter? Mostly during the Defense lesson, I just found myself having to re-read a bit to keep track of things. Not bad, just something I thought I'd mention since you said this is one of the chapters you don't like. =P

What I really like was that you were throwing in little things, like teasers really, that make me want to read on because I just HAVE to know what may or may not come of them. [ie: the mention of the word animagi being the only word that mattered, this bit about Gai's sister, Harry disturbed by Kally which has me oh so intrigued! 8D]

All in all, very awesome chapter and moving onto the next! =D

Review #41, by TyrannicFeenix Everything is Different

15th July 2011:
Nice chapter. No snogging in this one though, may be trouble on the horizon...

You still haven't explained the eyesight thing properly, I want lots of explanations in the next chapter you hear. We've had plenty of action for now I think we need some slow detailed conversations, or snogging, that's always an acceptable alternative.

Couple of small bug bears. Some of the chapter seemed a little disjointed, I know you write half asleep all the time but maybe you want to have a look over it when you have some free clear headed time. And the way you split some paragraphs in half confused me a bit but as always still doesn't detract from the chapter itself.

Seven thumbs up.

Author's Response: You've suddenly developed polydactylyl!!! Seven thumbs? Oh my! And thanks so much as always dude! I LOVE your honesty and it means a lot! :) And as usual you are dead on and know me far too well! This whole chapter was written on days when I was running on like oh...3 hours of sleep? I think I actually averaged 2.5 hours a night this past week due to school and work until Thursday and Friday night upon which I got 6!! *beams happily at clock and desperately wishes it hadn't gone off this morning to force myself back to work again today for another 16 hours* *coughs* Anyways point of this ramble is that I didn't reread it (like at all) so I'll definitely be going back this week once I get chapter 39 up and editing this past chapter and making it a bit more smooth and better flowing. :)

As for snogging/action *sneakily grins* what are your thoughts on hexing? Lots and lots of hexing? *snickers* The eyesight thing will definitely be explained as well, very soon. I thought it'd be in this past chapter but it seemed unrealistic to just jump to 'ah ha! they are suddenly at hogwarts again!' without showing how they got back and the like. :)

Thank you SO much as always for the review dude! Now...I am off to finish that evil midterm and go back to work! *shrieks* We have nothing but restless, combative patients again. Someone tugged my hair yesterday! And by tug, I mean threw me down on the bed iwth them after getting a hold of my ponytail! *shrieks more*

Review #42, by Alysea The Scars Life Leaves

15th July 2011:
I am finding myself re-reading parts of the story... I think I'm going through withdrawals o.O
Well it's such a well written story that it's not a bad thing, I rather enjoy and like the idea that even though he doesn't get along with or trust her right away he is still pretty smitten by her. It makes there 'relationship' realistic.

Author's Response: Hey Alysea! *grins* Withdrawal? Oh dear! I'll do my best to get a new chapter out really quick, but it definitely won't be until at least Tuesday (it's currently 5:31 am, I got home from work at 10 pm last night, and will be leaving for another 16 hour shift in oh...about an hour and a half, during which I will sneak my proper lunch and dinner breaks to do my take home statistics midterm, then get home around 10 to rush and finish that up! - Blasted professor made it available friday night to us and then had the audacity to tell me too bad, its due Sunday, and no one apparently works on weekends!) *coughs* anyways apologies for the rambling! lol Either way though tis why I won't have a chapter until about Tuesday because I'll be at work and drowning in coursework (graduating in August so must get it done! lol) until Monday morning! I'm so glad that you like it though and that it was good enough to reread! :) I'm also glad that it doesn't seem bad that he is attracted to her without liking her personality right away. I see a LOT of that in person just in day-to-day life (couples who weren't gung ho on each other before they got to know one another and started dating) and plus, asides from that, I figured a couple fighting at first would be awesomely fun for me to write!

I hope that your day is going well and as always thank you SO much for the reviews! :)

Review #43, by COWABUNGA Everything is Different

14th July 2011:
Hey AUTHOR!
I just read all 38 chapters of your story within 3 nights and am very impressed indeed!
It's interesting to read Harry with an OC and Kaylens certainly has the personality to match his. I like how you've developed Voldemort, but he does seem almost godly to the point of impossible. HOWEVER, what do I, a mere Muggle, know about magic?
anyway, keep up the good work and I look forward to future updates.
Cheers!

Author's Response: Cowabunga!! May I just say how much I LOVE your penname there? (May have had a Ninja Turtles phase as a kid...*shifty eyes*) Anyways thank you SO much for dropping me a review to let me know what you think (means a lot to me since I"m just getting back into writing after a long - very long - absence). I'm glad that Kaylens' personality seems like it could match Harry's to! I kind of worry about if I've portrayed her alright or not on accounting that it is VERY easy to cross the Mary Sue line with female OC's that are in any way remotely different, and I had this idea of 'reaches' and wanted to use it with a female in fanfiction, so I'm attempting to make sure she isn't all powerful or anything (where would the fun in that be) and that her personality is realistic enough. And *grins evilly* I may have had a 'bit' too much fun with Voldemort, but I always figured that in the books there was a realy good reason for everyone fearing him, so that I'd just give them some extra good reasons to fear him. :)

And WOW you read all 38 chapters in a few nights? I am IMPRESSED! I'm just glad that it wasn't too boring and that you were able to read them all! Thank you so much once again though and I truly hope that you enjoy the next chapter! :)

Yay!
great chapter again. I am glad Herimone, Ron and Harry are back together again.

Author's Response: HAHAHAHA Stuffed fire truck? *DIES* You have officially killed me dude! I'm glad that this was a decent chapter though! (The amount of sleep I've gotten this week is abhorrently small! My coworkers started to prod me while requesting that I be used in one of the doctor's sleep studies...very frighetning to see that many nurses and doctors grinning at you that evilly! *coughs*) Anyways, yup for the moment they are okay (kind of) *grins evilly and runs away* and the trio is back together (for the moment). Yay! More story! I'd like to see Harry man up a bit and show affection for Kally in front of other people. A guy can't snog a girl 3 times and not want you to let others know you care about them. n.n

Author's Response: *dies* You have no idea how hard I just laughed at reading the words "man up." I LOVE it! And he DOES need to man up doesn't he? I just couldn't see him giving in to 'liking her' without a bit of a fight, given his whole saving people thing, so for the moment he's being a bit of a prat buuut hopefully chapters 39 and 40 will be amusing to ya in that regard (I don't want to give too much away about what happens next you see but it's along those lines) lol

Thank you so much once again Alysea! :)

Review #46, by Emmanuelle The Rat Hunt

13th July 2011:
Well,
Here I am at chapter 37, With a dozen or more thoughts running around in my head. I love this story and it has been added to my favorites. The story has so much to offer a reader if they take the time to read it. It is also very capable of bringing forth a million emotions ( a few that made me wanna kick you right in the seat of the pants) that keep a reader interested. Which bring me to my final thought at this point. From the moment I came across this story my laptop has not left my hands. (that says a lot, I'm in school and often get sick of my pc.) I am a BIG potter fan and with that being said...Thank you for making the tail end of my summer break AWESOME...Again, you sure you are in the right line of work?...WAITING FOR CHAPTER 38!
Emmanuelle

Author's Response: Wow...seriously? All I can say is I am just really really glad (and grateful!) that you have read and been able to enjoy this story! You seriously are an amazing reader and I cannot tell you how much your reviews have meant! Do you know what a rare bird you are? Not a lot of people sit down and review an entire story their first read through! So thank you so much for that because it meant a lot! :)

And what's this? Emotions involving physical injury to my personage? *grins and grabs sparring gear, mouthguard, and proceeds to bang gloved hands together* ALRIGHT! Bring it on! *coughs*

I'm glad that it was interesting though and not so long that it caused you to lose your interest (the length of the story always worries me in that regard!) And eeks! I know what you mean about the laptop and school, I'm taking 2 courses this summer at my university and they are online, and good something...I am dying of being 'in front of the computer too much this summer' syndrome. Seriously, I'm pale and look as if I have not seen the sun in weeks! It's bad! I'm just glad that you were able to enjoy your computer for a bit again! :)

And thank YOU for reading and dropping me lines to let me know what you think, and for just being an awesome reader! I will do my best to update frequently and quickly for you! :) Though admittedly the next chapter (I just put chapter 38 out today so I mean chapter 39) won't be out until next week sometime. I have midterms the next few days and then two 16 hour work shifts this weekend so I will be drowning in those until Monday morning. *cries and twitches at the thought* Either way, Ch 39 will be out next week and Ch 38 is up for ya! :) And hrm...hopefully? I'm doing nursing and biology, switched over from pre-med (slowly...very slowly...I'm on the decade plan paying for school out of pocket to avoid incurring massive amounts of student loans), so I will always write, and I plan to finish a book I"m working on, but I honestly want to finish this fanfiction first. To me not finsihing Eclipse was like my unfinished business that MUST be done first. :) So once I get that done I'll be working on something else involving reaches (though I'll have them use a different name) and something involving elves in the modern day world. *grins evilly*

Thank you so much again Emmanuelle for you are truly awesome!

Emmanuelle

Author's Response: Heheheh I love torturing little Tiffany. I have so much fun with hurting her! Her and Emily *grins* And YES! Someone caught onto the fact that they AREN'T ready for the war to begin! :) It's always a thing I've never understood in stories, how every character is always 100% prepared and ready for a war when it starts. They've trained, they are powerful and awesome, and are okay for battles to begin! But in real life things would not be like that - people would be caught unprepared and off guard, or at the very least not fully prepared. And given that Harry is still a student, and though he may be powerful with certain types of magic, he's still just that - a STUDENT that is learning. So yup, they're unprepared all right. I can't wait to throw something else at them. *grins*
