Review:Guest says:
This story really hits home. My older sister was 21 when she died from cancer this January. She was diagnosed 3 years ago and given 6 months to live. It started in her lung and spread to her brain before we even had a chance to catch it. She went through so much, including 2 brain surgeries and 2 lung surgies. And like Nautica, there was a boy who liked her and had liked her since they were 16 years old. About 2 years ago he was trying to get her to go out with him and she denied him on the same principle that she didn't want him to have to watch her die. But he wore her down and they ere together for 2 years before she died. And he did watch her die. He was in the hospital along with my family holding her hand as she slipped away. So I honestly can't say why I read this when it mimicks my own life so completely, but I guess I'm hoping for a happy ending. And even though it's been a hard six month without her I'm really glad that she dated that boy. I think both of them were. She got to experience falling in love. And that's one of the greatest gifts you can have. So I really hope that nautica will accept help. Even if it's not from James, having friends there means everything. My sister always had so many visitors when she was in the hospital and she was surrounded by friends and family in her final moment and she always found a way to smile with her friends around. Santiago and Tess seem very supportive of her and I hope they stick by my side. It's sad that her parents aren't very close because I know how hard the experience is for everyone involved and my parents and my family are very close. So even though nautica is just a character in your imagination, I really hope that everything goes well for her. The thing about cancer is that is takes away that saying that "good things happen to good people" because sometimes bad things happen to good people. And it's not logical and it's not deserved and it tears about everything you used to think. But that's just what cancer does. So I'm sorry for this super depressing review but I just wanted you to know that I know what Nautica is feeling even if it's Second hand through my big sister. So I really hope that Nautica pulls through and that she lets her friends and the people who care about her support her and give her a shoulder to lean on because it really does make all the difference.

Author's Response: I'm very sorry for your loss. She and him sound like they had an amazing love story. It's profound that she got to experience that. I hope you continue to enjoy this and It means the world that you would read it despite your sisters story. Thank you so much for leaving a review .
