Hi Gina!

Wow, Iím not normally a fan of Jily pieces but I really loved this unique take on them and how it showed a new area of their lives I hadnít really thought that much about before. Iím so glad that you decided to focus events on their time in captivity and once the happiness of them being in love had faded a little as it just made for much more interesting reading.

Sirius was just great! I really liked him as a character as it would be him who would only go and do some work if it involved helping his friends. It just made me warm to his character even more than before. You managed to give a brief snapshot of how he tied into their lives with the banter with Lily really well too. Ooh, I also love how he used Muggle books too as that was a great addition.

I found it really interesting that it was Lily was the one who cracked under the hiding before James as you would expect it to be the opposite but I liked the twist. Plus, the scenes where James was trying to comfort Harry was really cute as I always imagined him being a really good Dad to him. Then the way he took them all out onto the porch was really nice as it just showed how well he knew Lily and what she wanted really was just some fresh and refreshing her life it that makes some sense :P

You wrote their mental instability from being cooped up all the time really well and that was shown especially well with James jumping off of the porch. I just really liked that as it didnít show them as the perfect people they are often portrayed as he was selfish there and acting under his own desire, but a real human because of that and that was what made this story.

This was a great one-shot, Gina! :D

Author's Response: THANK YOU. You're so kind. Thanks for taking the time to read this and respond so thoughtfully.

I had such a great time writing this piece, mostly because it was for the Speed Dating challenge and I had a great partner, but also because I had never written about Jily before. I'm like you--they've never been my favorite and I don't seek out Jily stories. But this thing happens whenever I write about a character or ship--I fall for them. I'm sure you've had this experience, too. I don't know if I'll ever write another Jily piece, but now I have a soft spot for them and I don't think that'll ever go away.
