Hi Meg,

I laughed throughout this entire story. I feel like this is a moment taken straight out of my childhood. My father was completely clueless in the kitchen and, if my mom ever got sick, us kids were in for it. They dynamic with the children was spot on - they could just sense that Teddy didn't know what he was doing and took full advantage of the situation.

However, I think my absolute favorite line in the entire story is "Is that the baby, then?" Teddy is painted as the perfectly inept husband. I love how he congratulates himself on taking care of his own children for most of the day to find himself in a complete panic when he has to prepare dinner.

So many stories on this site are deep and dramatic and it was really refreshing to read something that was just - fun!

Thanks,

Beth

Author's Response: My dad was the same. I don't remember him ever actually cooking. He made food by adding frosting to Pop-Tarts and calling it dessert. Luckily my husband can cook a few things. He doesn't do baking, but he can make dinner if I'm not home. Usually pork chops, and our kids call it "manly pork chop night" when Dad cooks.

I have to admit, every time I read Teddy's dazed and confused sort of responses, it cracks me up. I loved writing that about him. He says boneheaded things sometimes. I love picturing Victoire's expression when he does that. His kids definitely got one over on him. Johnny's a calculating little thing, and Remus is the bossy oldest child and even bossed his dad around. Teddy is totally inept. If he'd just said "Eat a sandwich or go to bed hungry" he'd have been fine, and that cracks me up.

I don't mind the deep and dramatic, I've done a few of those, but sometimes you just want a laugh ;) Thanks for reviewing!
