Hi 1917farmgirl! It was so refreshing to see Minerva portrayed in a different way. Yet, she's still the same professor we know. You've shown us another side of her while keeping her canon. I think you've captured her very well :) I loved the fact that she lets herself read fiction over the summer holidays!

It was nice to receive some background information about Sadie. You've roused my curiosity about her parents as well as the secrets she holds. I can't wait to find out more!

I LOVED the interaction between Ophelia and Minerva. You've portrayed a very easy and comfortable friendship in this scene. It's almost like the deep-rooted friendships that form in childhood - where being complete opposites doesn't really seem to matter.

I also think you portrayed the dynamic between Minerva and Sadie in a way that's real and believable. I can see how scared and hesitant Sadie is to trust as well as how much Minerva cares for her. You write beautifully and this chapter is filled with vivid and beautiful descriptions. My favourite lines are when Sadie is looking out on the city. "The city was an enigma - the canyons of steel and stone could swallow you whole and steal your soul..." and "It called to her, in a way she would never understand, but she knew she couldn't ignore." BEAUTIFUL!

I really enjoyed reading this and look forward to seeing what you have in store for Sadie :)

Author's Response: Okay, first the apology! I'm SO SORRY to have left you hanging on this review for such a long time. I teach school and December was just crazy with concerts and programs and family and everything. I fully expected to get to slow down again in January, but apparently not! It's taken me until the end of the month to start to feel in control of real life again, and so sadly, my online life had to wait for a while. But, I'm back now and trying to make amends.

Now, on to the fun part.

This was SUCH an amazing review. Thank you
thank you! You made me blush just from re-reading it. I really had a lot of fun writing Minerva in this. Trying to keep her how we know her, but also give her a new side that hadn't been explored. To have you say I did it well, makes me very happy. As for the fiction - well even Minerva needs to have a little fun sometimes.

Glad your curiosity has been piqued. I do promise to get around to answering those questions...just maybe not all at once. :) But any author loves to know that her story is making people wonder about things, so thanks.

That's exactly what I was going for with their friendship! That they have been friends for so long that it doesn't matter that they are so opposite! They actually compliment each other in a very weird way. And writing Ophelia has been a hoot. :) She's so off the wall, I can do anything with her.

Is it weird that I really wanted to give Minerva a chance to "claim" someone in this story? Not literally, she's not going to be raising Sadie or anything - but I feel like, as much as Minerva always cared for Harry Potter, because of his "destiny" Dumbledore had the more say in his care than she did. With Sadie, there is someone she can look out for and there are no ulterior motives involved. And Sadie needs someone like that - someone who won't smother her, but will also always have her back.

Aw, glad you liked finally getting inside of Sadie's thoughts. :) Gives me a huge grin!

Thank you so much again for this review. When I finally get through my back-log of reviews, I will check out the review thread and see if you are still actively reviewing and then try to get on your list again. I'd love to know what you think of the next parts.
