I cracked up at the start of this chapter not having to do with a ghost.


I really like how you've made Ellie's dad more involved with making her run. He seemed almost despondent in the first two chapters. His concern about keeping Ellie active is really sweet.

You've written Ellie's relationship with Scorpius, Chris, and James remarkably well. It's quite clear that they've known each other for years and are rather comfortable with one another. The James/Ellie banter is great. I like that they're getting under each other's skin. I dug the romantic vibes going on between James and Ellie.

The contrast you make between being twins and how identical they were and weren't was a great piece to go into in this chapter. You do a good job dispelling the common assumption that twins means being the same person.

You constructed the friendship between Amy and Ben very well. In just the bit they appear here. It's nice to know that Ellie has close relationships with people. Ooh, an unusual sorting hat song does *not* bode well. I'm excited to see what unfolds next!

Author's Response: I hope you cracked up in a good way... I thought the ghost opening might get a little repetitive, so I tried living people, just to mix it up!

I wanted to show that Ellie's dad isn't a bad parent - he's just a little distant by accident. And there's no better way to show active parenting than making your kid do something that is good for them against their own will.

They're all friends, so if that came through, that means a lot to me!

The relationships are important to me, so if they come through, that is great!
