I really like the aloof, teenage Sirius. He seems like he would have been "so above" whatever was happening around him at home.
I like this idea of Barty as the instigator of mystery and intrigue. Every good story like this needs a person to stir the pot. You've written him very well into that role.
It's really sweet that Sirius defends Regulus. I mean, I never got the impression that they were buds but it does show a level of brotherly love that Sirius has at least enough regard for him to not think him capable of murder.
Also, just a prediction, but I think Barty will play people against one another. It fits with the mystery instigator role you've put him in.
Baby Black seems like just the thing Sirius would call Regulus (even if it's in his own thoughts).
The scene with Sirius spying on Mr. Weaving and his reaction to tripping is well done. I could easily put myself into the drama and thrill of spying, trying not to be seen but getting tripped up and seen.
For Salazar's sake - priceless. ^_^
The Bellatrix/Sirius interlude is awesome. Bellatrix isn't quite so evil as she is when we see her in the books, but the comment about missing the mark between sweet and spicy was perfect.
So far really, really good. I like the mystery with good plot development. This is shaping into a very well crafted story.
I might read on but if I don't get to this soon, please feel free to re-request.
Author's Response: Hey there - thank you so so much for stopping by again, it wasn't necessary, but this has made me so happy! :) Thank you!
I'm glad you like the way I wrote Sirius - I know it's not the normal way people write him, but I thought it suited both him and this more.
Barty is definitely a little stirrer :P He really, genuinely enjoys the intrigue and mystery - probably just about the only person who actually likes it and finds it fun, tbh.
Yeah, they don't get on well themselves, but I think it's a sibling thing (I'm the oldest of three myself) to not necessarily get on with them, but that doesn't mean other people are allowed to say horrible things about them, haha! Baby Black... he is, kinda, really :P I just like the alliteration, mostly :D
Barty... well, he is a big part of it, to a certain extent, and he's definitely going to be involved with a couple of things, and talk a lot about murder and intrigue and come up with weird theories, but that doesn't mean anything he says will ever be right! ;)
Thanks! I liked writing that - Mr Weaving was sort of meant to be the ordinary person coming into the house, completely clueless, you know? I quite like him, so I'm glad you liked him too!
Ah, Bella and Sirius... I love writing scenes where they're in them together, they're so similar, but so different. It makes things so interesting, and I'm glad you liked it! :)
Thank you so so much for this! I'm so glad you liked it and the review was really lovely! :)
