Hey there! This story was absolutely brilliant. You had me laughing throughout this piece. You managed write Lockhart really well here. You took all his obnoxiousness and his narcissism, and you wrote it in a way that doesn't want to make the reader cringe. It isn't over-the-top (I mean it is, but not in a horrifying way!), nor does it detract from the shallowness of his character. You've managed to strike a fine balance.

I love how you've managed to incorporate James and Sirius into this one, even though they are just minor characters. It was a very nice move!

I started off picking up fragments of the story that I enjoyed the most. When I came to the end I realized that I'd lost count because there were too many.
I'll name a few though.
I loved the names that you used, like 'Wigworth' for the Head Boy. What a subtle twist on humor! I also loved every bit of Lockart's self-admiration because it was written very well. I was giggling aloud throughout. The last bit where he offers James the potion that is scented like Lilies was also pretty funny in a subtle way.
The last bit- But I bet that in a couple of years, once I’m famous and wildly successful in my career of saving people from distress and making their hair look beautiful, if I tell someone I was Head Boy at Hogwarts they’ll believe me. Maybe they’d even believe that I saved people from Acromantulas and met hags on holiday.- was absolutely perfect, given that we're talking about Lockhart here.It is completely in line with how he is described in the books, and his tendency to lie about himself is highlighted very well here.
Also, nice reference to the Acromantulas here ;)
Anyway, I enjoyed the sarcastic tone of this whole story, and would love to see more stories like this by you!
Great job :)

PS- This thing seems to have logged me out, so I'll post this one as a guest!

Author's Response: Wow, thank you for such a long and detailed review! I'm so glad you enjoyed the story :) Lockhart's over-the-top narcissism was so much fun to write - I think it just naturally lends itself to absurd narration. Some of the things he did as an adult were just so ridiculous (the arm-fixing thing in CoS) and I could just see him being much worse as a teenager!

Wilhelm Wigworthy is not actually my invention, he's a name I got from a footnote in JKR's "Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them". And wow I didn't even realise until you pointed it out, the coincidence with the "wig" humour! Haha

Thanks so much for reading, and for your lovely review!

(PS - Urgh, I hate it when it logs me out too! :P )
