Hi! I'm here with the review you requested a couple of days ago. :)
So, first off, I'd like to say just how much I really love your writing style. I'm sure you've been told it before, but parts of it definitely DO sound like J.K. Rowling's style. That's a really cool thing to see in fanfiction, especially since this story is a continuation of events after the Final Battle.
Characterization was wonderful. I love how you've made the Weasley family have a bit of a break down, even to the point where Mrs. Weasley's cooking is positively abysmal. It really shows just how much the war has changed everyone. I thought it was funny (but still very sad!) when Ginny was talking about not being an uncle, and Mrs. Weasley broke down again.
My favorite people in this chapter, though, were the Dursleys, hands down. Dudley is so completely unexpected, yet SO perfect! I never really imagined him immediately after the war, and not a whole lot of people write about him. But this Dudley just seemed to fit in with all of the gruesome after-effects of the war. Brilliant job!! The only complaint I have about him is that Harry's reaction when he receives a hug is just a bit too harsh. Maybe a little less "Ewww" and a little more "Oh, well, this is awkward and unexpected. Please get off, maybe?"
I also really loved the people in the Ministry and their various reactions. You just did such a lovely job with this chapter!!! :D
The one big bit of constructive criticism I have is that sometimes you spell things wrong and you don't use punctuation to its full merit. It happens to all of us, trust me!! I would suggest that you get a beta for this story (if you haven't already!!), and they can show you the way as far as grammar rules are concerned. Then your story will really be able to shine, and it will be a little easier for people to read. :)
I would also suggest that, if you ever have the time, pop over to The Dark Arts and see about requesting a banner for this story. Having a banner is a cute little trick of catching the reader's eye, drawing them in for a closer look. And if there's any story that deserves to be looked at, it's definitely this one!
Fabulous chapter!! I wish you many happy returns! :D
Author's Response: Thankyou soo much for your review, I really appreciate it!
Im heading over to the dark arts now, thats a great idea!!!
Its taken me a couple of days to respond to you in truth, cause I had no idea what "the dark arts" meant and had to do a lot of digging through the forums to work out that there are people out there who do these amazing banners! Wow!
Im working on getting betas, I have someone working on one of my chapters, but in the mean time, I am going back through myself and cringing every time I see yet another typo. Im a lazy typist.
glad you like the characterisations. And you're right. Eww is not really a Harry-ish response.. When I repost I may soften it a little (Still want to keep Harry seriously uncomfortable with it though)
Thankyou once again for such an awesome review. I love the positive comments, but I have to be honest, I love the criticism even more cause I am trying to improve writing! Ive never had any formal training and continually failed at essays, and writing in school :P You reviewers are now my teachers, so Thankyou very much!!
P.S. Im an aussie. You just wished me many happy returns, which is a phrase we usually reserve for birthdays! Do you use it just as a "best wishes" kind of expression? Thats cool! :)
