Here for the Ravenclaw Review Battle!

This was a really wonderful one-shot. The song you chose really complemented the writing, and your writing style is amazing. The description you use is really rich in detail, but it never feels like you're overloading us with details.

I love how this was told from a Death Eater's point of view. It's true that history hardly ever takes in the point of view of the losing side, so this story told us about the war from a completely new perspective, which I loved. It's really heartbreaking for me, that they all believed in their cause. They actually believed that what they were doing was right.

I think the fact that Narcissa is crying not only for her comrades, but for her family as well was really powerful and it just showed me how the bonds of family might never be truly severed. I really loved that part; I think it was my favourite bit of the whole one-shot.

So overall, this was an amazing story that absolutely broke my heart, as I'm sure it was supposed to.

Author's Response: Hey there Emily! Thanks so much for stopping by, and I'm so sorry for the desperately late response!

Ah, I'm so glad you liked it! It was an oddly spontaneous thing to write - I saw the film and I really wanted to do a one-shot based on the song, so this popped into my head. So it was less me choosing the song, than the song choosing the story, haha :P

I'm so glad you liked it from a different point of view! I've seen a lot of stories celebrating/mourning the losses the light side suffered, but I wanted to give some credit to those on the other side, because they had friends and family too, and a life is still a life, you know? And yeah, they fought for a cause as much as the order did :(

It's kinda funny you say that because it felt almost weirder doing the first section, where she's thinking about her friends, haha, since people don't often consider mourning their friends in the same way. But yeah, it was nice to explore the Black family and just how fractured they were by the end of it... it's an incredibly sad thing to think about.

Thank you so so much for the wonderful review, and, er, sorry for breaking your heart! ;)
