Oh my God.

I don't even know if I know enough adjectives to tell you how amazing this was. It was so sad, so incredibly touching and painfully beautiful. I don't think I've ever read something that described the time after the Battle in such a heartbreaking way.

It was really moving to see how much Flitwick cares for his students - he almost sees them as his own children. The part with Grace was especially touching, and the fact that her family didn't show up to claim her body. It really showed the horrible, horrible effects of the evil that took place at Hogwarts that day, and in that whole year.

This was my favorite part of your chapter: 'They will think of the lost, of the dead, of their friends, the hands that scribbled on parchments beside them fading into skeletons, the eyes that gleefully watched Quidditch games are now empty and stare at casket ceilings, flowers blooming over their graves.' That is poetry, right there. Incredibly beautiful. It broke my heart.

As I think you've noticed, I absolutely adore this story. I was wondering how you'd be able to live up to the first chapter after I had read it, but you have definitely succeeded. I think I like this one even better. It's absolutely perfect. Thank you so much for writing it.

Oh, and by the way: I was so sad to read that Firenze died! Will you reveal what happened to the boy from the last chapter?

Author's Response: Ahh, thank you so much for this review!!! It really made my day, and it's so meaningful to hear that you liked the chapter. I wanted to write all the stories in this collection from the POV of unusual characters who wouldn't normally get to be in the spotlight, but have important things to say, like Flitwick does.

I feel as if Flitwick is the kind of man who would put his students' lives before his own, and exploring his compassion was really fun to do. I'm glad you were moved by the Grace bit, it was very sad to write as was letting Firenze die, but I felt necessary to show the effects of the war.

Thank you so much for yet another lovely review!! Really, your comments are so helpful and amazing to receive, and each review really means a lot to me, so.. thank you!!! :P
