This was a seriously well constructed chapter! (See...I'm going to start out admiring the writing stuff instead of just banging on about hope!) I loved how you used the empty chairs to signify how many losses the Order had. You set that up so beautifully going back to the prior book when you always mentioned how crowded the room was.

Also by using the seeming throw away line about poor Remus and paperwork, you made Beth's "demotion" more powerful. Though did Moody really have to announce this in front of everyone? Shouldn't he (or someone more feeling!) have taken her aside?

I really felt for Beth here...I'm so glad she had hope at the end.

Oh and everyone should have a James!! At least one in case one is busy...

Author's Response: I'm so glad you enjoyed it! :) I mentioned this in another response a few minutes ago, but hope it so tightly woven throughout this story, it needs to be its token word or something. I just have to keep trusting that my readers have a lot of it -- even though I know where this story's going, I have to remember that right now, everyone else does not!

You were the only person who commented on the throwaway line about Remus and paperwork! I have the biggest smile on my face right now. Just a touch of foreshadowing, as it were; it's so far from everyone's minds that Beth might get pushed off mission work, and yet it happens only minutes later. Poor girl. ♥ I definitely think Moody could have handled things better, but I also think Beth could have done without screaming at him, but there you way it.

Everyone should definitely have a James! He is like the big brother I never had (or at least that's somewhat how I try to write him). Sirius wouldn't have been able to calm Beth down like James did, and I know she's grateful to him for it.
