Yay first review!
It was odd being back in canon Snape’s head, as I’m so used to his thoughts being about Beth, not being mean to Sirius, but it was done really well anyway. I loved the part when he assumed that the girl who was with Sirius was his girlfriend, how wrong was he! If only he knew how much he’d been through with that girl who he pitied! Just a quick question, does this mean that he doesn’t even know who Beth is then? Or did he just not recognise her?
I can see how you’re making it canon though, with Snape thinking that he was helping out Dumbledore because of Lily, not because of Snape. I guess the good thing is that he’s helping them out, even if he does think he’s doing it for Lily though.
Yay Snape’s beginning to realise that’s something not quite that right in his brain! I guess this is the start of him, hopefully, unravelling it all, and finding it out.
It was odd to see Avery and Snape cut up about the other death eaters deaths as you assume that they’re emotionless towards them, but I guess it makes sense as they’ve been through so much together. Then there’s a bit of mystery as well, with who’s killed them! I always love a good old who did it case ;D
Another great chapter Rachel, and I can’t wait to read the next, I know what you mean about Sundays being so far away!
P.S. It’s been bugging me for ages, so I had to ask! Who are the actors in your banner, as they just seem exactly like my canon Beth and Snape?
Author's Response: Writing Snape to have canon thoughts, especially about Lily, was distinctly odd in this book. I'd spent so long training my mind to think in another direction! That bit about Beth (where she doesn't even get named, poor girl) is a bit of a painful dig, but for some reason I enjoy adding in small barbs like that into my stories. I think I'm a bit cruel sometimes. :) He knows faintly who Beth is, name-wise, but he's never registered her before, or thinks he hasn't. You'll see more of that in future chapters, definitely!
The way Snape feels something not right in his head -- that crops up again, too. Lots of foreshadowing here! (Which is weird... I didn't think I wrote that much, but I guess that's not a bad thing.)
I think a lot of times it's easy to forget that the Death Eaters are human, and so have human emotions, and then there are scenes like this one where they don't seem so different from the Order members, you know? The mystery will actually be solved next chapter -- be on the lookout!
Thanks so much for reviewing, Kiana. :3 I'm already looking forward to hearing your opinion on chapter 3! ♥
