This chapter feels kind of filler-y, but that doesn't mean I liked it any less.
Aiden Brookes is Rose's first rejection. Maybe he's figured it out? It's a possibility, but eh. Probably not. Anyways, I like to think that some guys actually do remain faithful. Gives me hope for humanity.
I love the 'dreaded left window' bit. (;
There is most definitely something going on with Scorpius; it's kind of making me feel sorry for him.
I seem to remember in chapter...four I think, Scorpius saying something along the lines of, "I don't see you getting any potion wrong." I think it was in the Hospital Wing? Anyway, if he doesn't think anything's going to go wrong, why does he follow her? Does he fancy her? Even if it's just subconsciously?
Their Quidditch banter reminds me of mine and my friend's banter about muggle sports. Makes this that little bit more realistic and believable, even though it's obviously not real (sad face).
Is Scorpius' insistence that she doesn't know everything hinting at some hidden emotion that he has and she doesn't know about? Is this aforementioned hidden emotion what keeps him getting girlfriends just so she will kiss him? Hmm... *ponders thoughtfully while stroking Dumbledore-like beard*
Again, there is definitely something going on with Scorpius. In my experience, it's not like a Malfoy to not pay attention to his robes catching on fire; Draco should have taught him better than that. Something's up.
As soon as Rose starts talking about Faye's amber eyes, he stops. I think I may have found what's going on. Just my theory though. I do like my theories, in case you hadn't figured that out. (;
She's a girl. Some kind of bad relationship maybe? She's a Hufflepuff. If she is the reason for his bad mood, it explains why he was near the kitchens. But a fifth year? I'm thinking that's a bit young, but he is a Malfoy, so you can't rule it out.
Oh no! The Quidditch match was cancelled! Al's taking it really hard. I mean, he's devastated! Poor bloke. Yeah, Al's always been my favourite next gen character.
I'm not sure I'm the biggest fan of McLaggen. Must be hereditary; I never liked Cormac in the books either. Just sayin'.
Ooh, what's going to happen? Is Rose going to get rejected again, or is McLaggen going to get hexed? The last time Rose's services were employed, a guy got dumped. So, it's only a matter of time before one of them's dumped this time. As for me? I hope it's McLaggen.
Yes, I did just paraphrase Chamber of Secrets.
Keep updating! (:
Author's Response: Hello Izzi,
What a lovely long review! I'm afraid it was a bit of a filler but I'm glad you liked it all the same.
Well it's good to know Aiden Brookes has restored your faith in humanity. But he was indeed Rose's first rejection, something I think she is a little miffed by. There is a chance he might return later on to explain himself.
Oh the dreaded left window, I thought you might like that!
Oh Scorpius, whatever is the matter with you? Your memory is correct, he did say that, however Zabini said she was supposed to have someone there with her in case something did go wrong. So Scorpius is just following the Professor's rules. Or at least that's what he tells himself. The bit about Quidditch was quite fun to write because it showed Rose being a fairly normal human being. As for Scorpius' insistence that she doesn't know everything... well I couldn't possibly tell you what goes through that boy's head. He is an odd boy. Who may one day grow a Dumbledore style beard himself ;) But yes, there is definitely something going on with him. But I don't think it is Scorpius that Draco needs to worry about as you will discover.
The amber eyes. They certainly did catch his attention. I love your theories, I hope they keep coming! As for this one... She is indeed a girl and she is a Hufflepuff but more than that, I cannot say. You will just have to wait and see.
Poor Al! He was truly devastated. You'll be pleased to know that he features again in the next chapter. But he is not especially happy then either. I will have to find a point to put a happy Al into the story, just for you, he usually is quite a happy guy.
Sometimes I forget Dave is Cormac's child and then I remember and my opinion of him drops once again. I was not a particular fan of Cormac myself. You'll just have to wait for the next chapter to find out what happens but I can assure you that something does, indeed, happen.
I was reading that last bit and though: 'I recognise this, is she quoting something?' And then I read the next bit and laughed. Very smoothly done.
You will be pleased to know the next chapter is in the queue so keep an eye out for it, I hope you like it! Thank you so much for this review,
