Great story. Not sure how to describe it but you did a really good job. Grief is a hard thing, and a thing that most fanfic writers include but it never seems to hit right in the gut. (Me included.) You did an excellent job and your portrayal was excellent. I imagine that Dennis would return to Hogwarts, but everyone has different ideas so I think it is almost clever that he doesn't. This is great and keep writing because you have a talent for it.

You're right, grief is indeed a difficult thing to write - sometimes it can get a bit melodramatic. But I'm so so happy that you thought it was well-written in this fic.

I had this idea and thought it would be interesting if Dennis were a young school-leaver...being all disillusioned and filled with grief and all. Perhaps he does go back in the end :) But whatever he does, I think he might be OK :D
