This was a pretty cool look at Regulus's final moments. I've found myself reading a fair few of them lately, and I was impressed by the content of this one. I really liked the little blurb about the dreamers and how you characterized each of them in a few morbid words. I also liked the way Regulus compared himself to the Inferi, unable to look away even as he knew that in a few moments he would give up his humanity and join them in their 'danse macabre.' I also think you did a great job showing us how the Drink of Despair would affect someone without having to go into gory detail. It was neat that Regulus found his courage at the end.

Stylistically, I did feel that the flow of this one left something to be desired, especially compared to other work you've done. I wasn't sure the roman numerals were necessary, and I felt like they made it a bit choppy, since the piece is already succinct. I also think you might consider doing away with the changes in tense and point of view; they were confusing to me and I felt that they detracted a bit from my enjoyment of the piece--again, it's short, and I just think it feels a little overcomplicated right now.

I've been reading a ton of these kinds of stories as well recently, so I thought I'd have a go.
I'm glad you said that about the dreamers - I wasn't sure if I should've cut that or not 'cause it's not really relevant to Regulus at this point, so thank you for that.
The Regulus-as-Inferius thing and the Drink of Despair thing had been hanging around in my head for weeks. It was such a relief to get it all down. I'm glad you like it.

I see what you mean, but at the same time I've had people saying that they really liked the changes in tense/POV, so I don't know. I think I will have to revise this thing at some point when I can figure out what to do.
