Review:caoty says:
Hey, I'm here with your requested review.

So I'm impressed. Your characterisation of post-Azkaban Sirius is absolutely perfect and painful and dark, and you've used that really well to shape this piece. Maybe you could've gotten a bit more Harry and Remus in there - IIRC in canon he seems to rely on them more than the others for external contact - but then again, that might detract from the point of this fic, which I have chosen to interpret as, "Sirius' life sucks, man."

His letters to Regulus are extremely well done; you've definitely shown his mental decline in Azkaban and it's heartbreaking. It's also a clever idea, having Sirius being allowed one letter a year, with the assumption that a response owl wouldn't make it to Azkaban anyway. The fact that he sends it to Regulus rather than Remus or baby Harry is something I wouldn't have thought of, so well done with that, too.

That said, maybe you've gotten some of the details mixed up, like:
>You are my son, and I love you
but then
>Your mother, who has not, for a second, loved or forgotten you
That's probably just a typo but it confused me for a good few seconds, because I'm pedantic like that.

Apart from that, this was fantastic and I'm glad I've read it. :)

Author's Response: Hello there! :D

I was contemplating putting Harry and Remus in it a bit more, but I wanted to focus it completely on Sirius and his internal battle with the past. Hence Harry's and Sirius' interaction was very brief and was only used to allude to the fact that he has found some old letters :)

I actually think the letter thing could be a possibility in J.K.R's canon world. It's just much more treacherous having this hope of someone writing back to you but that comfort never reaching you.

I've always had this conception that Sirius and Regulus were much more closer than maybe either of them have ever let on so that's where that idea came from :)

The Your mother, who has not... etc was actually Walburga signing off so maybe that's cleared it up a bit!

:D thank you for taking the time to read this!
