hehe. Always wanted to do that.
The first part of this story, with the flash to the abandoned friends, is very moving. It reminded me poignantly of how my best friend (much younger, and more of a little brother-type) lost touch when I turned 17 and started driving and working. It was a near-perfect summation on your part. Moving. Well,enough of that.
The latter half with the careful letter writing was enjoyable, and sets an interesting stage for what's going to happen to Miss Skeeter. Personally, I'd have flung her off the Astronomy Tower! I'd say some good WWW toys are in order?! On order?!
Again, well worth the wait as always.
Going to have to borrow the Statute a bit, too, for my own PB3 debacle, I think.
Again, moving and well written. I could not have done better.

Miss Skeeter will be staying this side of the parapets for the meantime, I think, as we need a small-time "bad guy" to keep things interesting whilst the main plot (finally) cranks into gear...
