I'M HERE I'M HERE I'M HERE.

Oh, poor Jacob. Poor, poor Jacob. It's so sad that his funeral is nothing big at all. But then, his death IS just one in a long line of them, even now the war's ended. I love this idea of the MLE's funeral traditions; it's another area where you've put so much thought into developing this world, and it makes it feel so real. I APPROVE.

Tanith/Toby chat. Yes. I can fully imagine that she sat there in Tuscany, away from him, and decided that she was going to end things between them. But she won't do it. They really don't deal with things well, but at the same time I can't see them just giving up on each other after all their history. HMM.

Oh my, Toby going on a romantic holiday to Guatemala with Cal. THIS NEEDS TO HAPPEN. I'd like to request this please and I won't take no for an answer. EVEN IF IT'S NOT MEANT TO HAPPEN. It is now.

Ugh, I love T/T so much.

Meeting with Vaughn. YES. OH OH OH this is the bit where she gets put with Harry, right? KERCHINGGG. I've been getting ridiculously excited for this! Mulready's dead? Ooh, now we're getting juicy. I love Vaughn's suggestion that it could have been the neighbour, amazing. And he may call it a 'paint-by-numbers' case, but I see it being anything but. Intrigued.

Tanith, calm and even-tempered. Oh, Vaughn, you little wind up merchant you. I am so looking forward to having some juicy Cole/Bell/Potter/Weasley interactions, they promise to be VERY good. NEXT CHAPTER.

Author's Response: I sometimes feel I under-use the MLE's Ministry offices, because while I maintain the logic of Canary Wharf's existence - do they really do all the processing of prisoners and training and everything at the Ministry? But then I like bringing in the little touches of the traditions and the why. It does, indeed, suck for Jacob (I mean, aside from DYING six months after the end of the war kind of sucking) that his funeral is just one amongst several, but that's the way the cookie crumbles.

I don't think Tanith had decided outright to END the relationship, but certainly didn't think they'd just be back to forgiving and forgetting and hoping. Things are tough but, indeed, not only are they not about to throw things away, but they're still not good at being rational about one another, and when actually face-to-face, higher issues tend to fade away.

Haha. Toby and Cal go on their romantic holiday, just as Tanith goes on the Sex and the City, Witches Style spin-off with Ariane and Melanie to Tuscany! Yep, Mulready's dead and plot marches on. We shall be seeing the team up next chapter!
