Well, this piece was marvelously sad, which seems like a contradiction but is the only way I can think of to describe it. It was both marvelous and so terribly sad at the same time.

Poor, poor Minerva. Honestly, had I not read this oen shot I never would have found myself wondering what happened to Isobel McGonagall, which horrifies me. So thank you for opening my eyes to a character I would have disregarded if not.

I felt Minerva's struggle so acutely throughout this piece. You did a really good job of capturing all of Minerva's emotions, and I can only imagine that was a real challenge. I feel like I went through all of this with her!

Most of all, this piece was really realistic. You didn't sugarcoat the difficulties or the emotions, but you told it like it was, and that was refreshing. This was difficult for everyone involved, and I'm glad you didn't forget the pain and confusion that Isobel went through as well.

I think my favorite part of the one shot was easily the fact that Mineva asked Dumbledore how he dealt with Ariana and her mental illness. It was just such an innovative idea and I loved it.

Author's Response: Thanks so much for this review Cassie, it really means a lot to me. No one is really sure what happened to her but in a way I think something bad must have for Minerva not to be in regular contact with her mother and family. The McGonagall family are my absolute favourite to both read and write because they're a family with problems too but people just don't see them like they do Harry's or Dumbledore's.

When writing this I didn't find it easy but it just sort of flowed. Like I was going through what Minerva had gone through.

I didn't want to sugar coat this, I mean obviously I left out some things that could really upset people if they've dealt with similar situations but I want to convey that even though magic is still there, nothing can hide the fact that Isobel was ill. People do always get upset when finding out a family member has dementia, but I wanted to keep Isobel's pain there too because sometimes people forget about the person that has it and focus on their family members.

Minerva is still young and I think Albus would've already confided in her about Ariana, so this was the perfect opportunity to ask despite the situation being different there's always the same resolution.
