Review:Marzipan says:
It's me again :) Back to review another amazing chapter!

I really, really enjoyed this! Finally we have the two separate threads of the plot joining together! And I love the way you've done it, by having them meet through the Slug Club. That whole scene was so well done, and I really hope that Regulus and Lily can actually become friends, since I think there is a lot that the two can relate to in each other. Lily sounds like she is already starting to realize that, from her reflections on the connection with both Sirius and Severus that they both have in common. And then there is the bit about helping the elves clean up, which I just adore to bits. Not just Slughorn trying to play matchmaker (which is hilarious!) but what it tells us about Lily and Regulus' characters. Lily helps because she is unfailingly polite and its the decent thing to do. Regulus helps not only because he was asked, but because he seems to have a genuine (if unfounded and unacknowledged) concern about the house elves welfare. Your characterization is just flawless, I'm a little in awe.

I also enjoyed the first bit of the chapter, with the sixth year Gryffindors in Transfiguration. McGonagall is one of my absolute favorite characters, and I really love the way you've treated her, especially as seen through Lily's eyes. And then the interaction between Lily and James, which you handled so well. The animosity between the two was always a result of James' bad behavior rather than from James himself, and now that he is learning to behave himself the cordial awkwardness you have between them is perfect. Lily has already been established as incredibly polite and well mannered, and her carrying on the same as last year without any provocation just wouldn't make sense for her. But without that, she really has no idea how to act around him since that animosity has pretty much defined their interactions up until now. And poor James, you can tell he is really trying his best.

I can't wait to read more and see how you continue to develop these two relationships, and to hopefully see some more Lily and Sev interaction soon!

Author's Response: Hi! I can't believe it's taken me almost a month to respond to this wonderful review. I just had some medical stuff happen, and then I got behind at work, and then... yeah. I'm so sorry!

I'm really glad you liked watching Lily's story and Regulus's story meet at last! I do think they have the potential to be friends, even with all the things they don't have in common. It's great that you had fun watching Slughorn try to fix them up (in true Slughorn form) and watching them bond a little over the elves. I definitely wouldn't say that my characterization is flawless, but it's kind of you to think so. Thanks so much! :)

I seem to be good at writing awkwardness between couples, or at least I have a tendency to do it a lot. I'm glad that you like the way I'm developing the interaction between Lily and James and that it feels realistic to you. As grim as the scene with McGonagall was, I enjoyed writing her. I've always thought of her as a motherly figure to the students, particularly those in her house, and I think they would need her in this time.

Thanks so much for this lovely review! :)
