Scientists have not agreed on the plural of 'platypus' so they either call them 'platypuses' or 'platypus' (like sheep, you don't say sheeps, you just keep it as a singular form :p)
And there are actually only three monotremes in the world.
The platypus, the short-beaked echidna and the long-beaked echidna.
I'm sorry, my biology nerdism is coming out! We have just been doing this and I actually did a whole research task on the platypus recently!
Yeesh, I'm a nerd. :p
This story is actually quite good, I quite like it :)
Ginny sounds hilarious, I love it :D
And Mr Sprinkles is a very cute name for the platypus :D
Did you know you can also get Turtle Permits?
I want Selene and James to PROPERLY talk again!
Anywho, this is a really good story, I'll keep checking it out :D

Author's Response: Hmm, how odd. I distinctly remember learning about four species of echidnas. Strange. Ah well, my high school wasn't the most academically challenging place. I'll take your word for it :) Also, the last time I read the dictionary (yes... I do that sometimes. I'm such a nerd) it said the plural was platypuses. I guess that the scientists need to have a word with the people writing the dictionaries, huh? :p

There is nothing wrong with researching platypuses. They are the epitome of awesome.

Yes! Get a Penguin Permit! Do it! And then name your penguin Mr. Sprinkles.

James and Selene are both overly stubborn idiots that need to sort out their issues. But you know, that's my completely unbiased view as the author of this story...
