I don't normally read stories like this, but I'm glad I did, this first chapter is certainly enough to get my attention.

One of the big stand-outs of this chapter is the contrast between the dress shopping and the letter (along with the birthday party section). It could easily have become messy or hard to follow, but that way you wrote it was detailed enough - with little details - to make sure that the reader knew that something different was going on (asuming they had missed the three dashes like I did).

Considering that to me, most of these characters - with the notable exception of Percy - are characters who are complete unknowns to me, the way they were characterized made me feel almost as if I know them (or of them) as well as I do any of the other main caharacters.

I look forwards to reading the other two chapters (and future chapters),

Author's Response: Strangely enough, a lot of people end up telling me that when they read this, but I'm glad you ended up liking it :) /Did/ you miss them? Well, I'm glad you realised that it was different scenes, anyway, and that's a lovely compliment :) I love writing characters, and being told that they are realistic and relateable just makes my day.
