Author's Response: Yeah, I agree that the sedating charm is kind of a grey area. Under normal circumstances Severus would NEVER do something like that, but this was a very post-traumatic situation for him, so he did what he felt he had to to get through it. He needed a few moments to recover and he knew it would hurt Avrille far more to see him so messed up like that (not to mention making her anxiety even worse in the future when he had to report back into Voldemort). So I had him go with the charm, even though it is, like you pointed out, kind of invasive.

I'm very interested that you noticed I have Severus call Dumbledore "Professor" all the time! No one's ever pointed that out. I did it on purpose as a sign of respect to Dumbledore because in my stories, I have Severus consider him almost like a combo father-figure plus mentor. When Severus is talking to Voldemort, he drops the "Professor" to make it seem like he doesn't respect him. Thanks for reading so carefully to notice that, and also for another review!
