Oh my god! I'm so happy right now. So so happy. I was looking on your page and stumbled across 'welcome to mars', and saw it was labled 'Teddy/Rose', and it was a sequel-- I freaked.
I read this story ages ago (before I had an account on here), and I can't believe I finally found it again! Seriously, i've been searching more than I'm proud to admit for this so I could read it again. This story made me start loving Teddy/Rose, just because of your writing. This was one of my most favorite stories I had ever read on this site, it's so beautifully written, the ending is amazing! I couldn't believe I had finally found a story that Rose and Scorpius DIDN'T work out, where Rose cared about her schooling/professional life, and in something so original like Herbology. I had read story after story of angsty, 'forbidden love' between Rose and Scorpius where they have a secret snog and Ron throws things. Then I finally found this.. this was a breath of fresh air to me to have something so well written, and so original to fall into reading.
Honestly, there were points where I had almost written blogs, or status updates, asking about "A story where Rose goes off to study Herbology, finds out Lily is marrying Scorpius, and ends up with Teddy Lupin"-- Again, more than I'm proud to admit, how much I love this :p
Okay, gushing aside (I'm just SO happy to have found this! You have no idea.) honestly fantastic work on this whole story. Seriously, it made my week to find this and be able to read it again! Off to read the sequel!
Author's Response: *splutters*
How do I respond to this coherently? Really, it make me squee to read it again, and I've read it a good few times before finding the right moment to properly respond. You searched for this story! You wanted to read it again! YOU LOVE THE ENDING! *sobs* You've more than made my day with this! The ending has always been the contention for a good few readers, and finding someone who loves it makes me feel extremely happy - it's the ending I hoped to write, the one that satisfied me most rather than "giving in" to expectations that Scorpius and Rose should have still gotten together in the end.
This story was inspired by those other stories you've mentioned, the Romeo & Juliet-type romances with squishy happy endings that don't entirely make sense, and being a contrarian, I had to do the opposite. :P I think, when I began, I thought of this story as a "sequel" to those Scorose romances that take place at Hogwarts because, realistically, adolescent romances that last are pretty rare, and my hope was to make this story something more realistic. Not that it turned out that way, but I like the result all the same. ;)
I'm so glad that you found the story again, too! I hope that you enjoy the sequel - it's a bit different (as it's no longer about rewriting cliches, but rather me having more fun with the characters), but it's still the same Rose, being melodramatic and generally failing at life. XD Thank you so much for reading and rereading this story!
