I am really intrigued by this idea you have with trying to repair the broken relationships that we know so well to be common in this era of Hogwarts! I don't think I've ever seen a story like it before!

One thing I did note, however. I'm not entirely sure if you caught this, but timeline wise, if Sirius is a year older than Regulus, and in this story he is about to turn 16, then Sirius would have already been out of the Black house as it says he ran away and lived with James Potter when he was 16. Anyway, just a small canon thing but I thought I'd point it out! :)

Other than that, I just really love the way you've set up this story! You've introduced the canon characters we know so well perfectly and I have no doubt the other chapters will live up to this one!

To be fair, the details about the Black household were taken straight from canon, so credit for those goes solely to JKR. I am happy, however, that you liked the way I used her information to create a picture for you!

I'm also pleased that you found the concept unique; that was a big part of my aim with this piece, and it still is. I'm not entirely sure where the idea came from, except that I find the notion of note-passing and deal-making sort of romantic (not in a Regulus/Lily sort of way, not at all, just as a concept by itself).

I actually did consider that when writing this story. The way I've done it, though, Regulus's birthday is in the spring, and this chapter is set right at the beginning of term, in the fall. Unless I missed something, there's nothing in canon that says that Sirius ran away as soon as he turned sixteen, and so I've planned it so that the event will take place over the course of this story, a little closer to his seventeenth birthday, when he will become an adult by wizarding law. I figured it would be an important event to include in the development of Regulus's plans and his feelings about his relationships with Sirius and their parents. Anyway, I hope all of that makes sense :)
