I thought this was a really sweet way to get both of them to know each other and that they are both characterised really well, I especially liked the little bit about McGonagall because it reminds us that the war is still raging, and I like that Lily has such a different reaction to the death than Regulus even if he was sorry that patients get killed. I also loved the little Slughorn quips about his 'best and brightest' tehe, what a show off!
All in all I thing this chapter was really good, and quite similar to JK's own writng. :)

I'm glad you like how the story is developing so far, and that you enjoyed the inclusion of the war and McGonagall's worrying about it. It's also great that you can already see the differences in how Regulus and Lily see things. Slughorn was definitely fun to include, and I'm glad I characterized him well and used him effectively to add a touch of humor to the story.
