Review:Cassius Alcinder says:
Thanks for swapping Amanda!

At last, the long awaited conclusion to their meeting. I really enjoyed the presentation of medieval courtship here. You relaly paid close attention to fairly portraying the mores of the time, with the close parental supervision even for adults, and how strolling through the gardens was pretty much the most romantic thing you could do. Its also kind of sad how she was considered an old maid i her early 20's, but that's probably accurate. Their dialogue was very era appropriate as well.

It's also interesting how you presented Hogwarts in the Founder's Era, which definetely lends a lot of room for creativity. On the one hand, the regular setting of hogwarts is pretty medieval, so it might not have been that different.

I really liked how you included historical details for the added accuracy and context, and as, usual with your stories, the language and descriptions helped bring the scenes to life. I could really feel the romantic tension, and the sense of looming desperation and longing as they were forced to part ways.

Glad I got to be the first one to review this!

Author's Response: Thanks so much again! It was wonderful to be able to get some feedback on this new chapter.

I was a little nervous about this one, because I didn't do as much "active" research with this in my hurry to get the second half of the meeting posted. With some exceptions, most of what I chose was based on what I remembered from movies and books with a historical basis and what I thought would fit best in this kind of society during this time period. I'm glad that it all made sense and worked well for you, and that the romance came through with the garden scene.

Writing about the first class of Hogwarts was probably the most fun I had during this chapter, aside from that little moment of fluff in the garden where Helena touches Venn's arm. I thought it might not be terribly different, but I wanted to make some changes just to reflect what I've learned about starting up a new school or a new discipline (informed largely by my knowledge of the early schools of psychology, with the guest lecturers and the small cohorts of students). I thought it would be kind of whimsical to talk about the early days of Hogwarts, and I hope you enjoyed it and got that effect from it as well.

I'm pleased to see that the tension was apparent. I couldn't go overboard with it, because even a kiss would be a big deal during this time period, but it was nice to be able to keep things slow and to hint at the growing bond between the two young nobles.

Thanks again for your very kind review! :)

-Amanda
