Review:justonemorefic says:
Russians. Automatic love. I love their opinions about the cold; they tend to be generally awesome.

Egads, web of deceits, three paragraphs in. Even the Cold War Russians want Dumbledore gone; it's a wonder how our beardy headmaster ever made it through. (Hee, you made Rasputin a wizard. Of course he would be.) Magical espionage is really such a fascinating genre, just with the sorts of things wizards can do and have to protect against. And I actually get the Muggle history bits. It's obvious you know your stuff, and well-integrated -- especially considering this is the magical world (I totally thought our real-world history actually involved wizards for a moment there).

I love how you describe Anastasia (and this isn't just because she's the only one so far without a beard). Instant vixen, but totally deadly. And then how restrained and methodical the atmosphere is at the facility; I kind of see it like an arctic research station.

Ooh! Names I recognize! Snerk, I am so amused he calls the Brtis mediocre. I can image Malfoy's affront if he knew. My oh my. That is one smooth Englishman/Dark Lord. Upstaging Russians and their cold. Wizards have always been prone to the flashy sort of demos.

Definitely see lots of potential intrigue coming up soon! Great opening :D

Author's Response: Hey thanks for the review swap!

I definetely find Russian culture and history to be fascinating, so this was a fun setting to write in. And I could totally see Rasputin being a wizard haha.

Glad you liked Anastasia, she's basically the typical femme fatale type character, but she might have some surprises up her sleeve.

There's a big gap in the backstories of the death eaters and tom riddle, so its fun to fill it in.

Thanks a lot for the review!!
