James's reaction was very unexpected. I agree that Calla needed that, but given James feelings for her(whatever the heck they are...which in my opinion he's more in love with her than infatuated, since in his mind his reason for being like that was simply his caring for a friend) I was very caught off guard that he was so blunt with her, but I like it because 1)it's realistic and 2)you don't see reactions like that a lot in stories. But then again, James was raised around a million hysterical females he's bound to be an expert on female emotions and how to deal with them.

Author's Response: Hahahaha, this made me laugh :D Yes, James has a crazy family, which makes him adept at dealing with these kinds of situations. I'm glad you thought his reaction was unexpected/ unique (?).
And yeah, James is rather confused about his feelings at the moment.

P.S. another reason for James's reaction was that he's a 16 year-old boy who's not going to like to go all mushy, even with the girl he (loves) ;)
