Firstly, I adore your first paragraph, it really captures how I suspect Harry did really feel after the Battle of Hogwarts. I do agree with what's been said before though about the Weasley's and the lack of sorrow they seem to have about Fred's death. I liked the idea of George sitting there alone with him for days, but I think that to really capture his misery, maybe you could have a bit more interaction with him? I love the bits with Kingsley's speech, I think that was really well done, it can be very hard to do massive chunks of dialogue like that and you handle it well and I think Hermione's decision is very in character, though I think that Ron would have definitely protested and insisted that he came.
Overall, I think you've got off to an excellent start, well done!

I'm really glad you enjoyed chapter 1, and that Kingsley's speech worked for you. A re-write that addresses pretty much all the feedback about the emotional content is imminent, so I hope you'll approve of what I'm doing with it.
