I love the idea of the ghosts being charged with keeping the history of Hogwarts, and I think it's pretty funny to imagine Nick and Binns boxing over who gets the honor of reporting on it. Nick's comments throughout this piece were amusing and gave life to it, from his opinion of Rita Skeeter to his musings about his glorious past. A very entertaining read!

When I originally issued this challenge, I had in mind a live action version of the battle from each character's perspective. However, I really like the retrospective method you selected. It's especially neat coming from Nick because, as you mentioned, he's certainly been there for all of it. For example, I liked how he wished that something had been done to stop Tom Riddle when he was still a student at Hogwarts. I imagine that many of the professors at Hogwarts, especially Dumbledore and Slughorn, had the same thought at one time or another. I also like how you've used Nick's place in Hogwarts to illuminate some of the more "minor" characters in the series, especially the ghosts. It makes me want to read and write more pieces that put them in the spotlight.

I'm glad you liked the narrative style, I figured Nick would have a very long perspective on things since he's been there so long. I also pictured Nick being very witty and sarcastic, probbaly because John Cleese played him in the movies.

I think the ghosts definetely have an interesting story to tell, I mean you have the whole Helena/bloody baron story, the fat friar could easily cross over and be Friar Tuck from robin hood, and who knows where Peeves came from.

This was a great idea for a challenge and a fun oe to write!
