It's a refresher to see a fanfiction that's not romance, really.

I really like the slave idea. In a way, it's very true, and I'm glad that Draco's so conflicted over his upbringing and his mother's unconditional love. But it never really saved him like it did for Harry. And it's very affecting, how everybody else blames his personality on his father, the Dark Lord, etc.etc. but he's the only person who really understands that it was all his mother's doing.

The flashbacks were written perfectly, the way Narcissa used to be heartless until her son. The way she sacrificed everything she had to protect him, and at the end of her life finally realized that Draco shouldn't have ever been forced into the path he had taken. (Lucius's indifference to her death was nicely done, by the way.)

His words at her grave were heartwrenching. It's touching, that he wanted her to forgive him for something that wasn't even his own fault. That he would be forever separated by physical and supernatural boundaries from her. That he felt sorry that she could never be truly free, and he couldn't either. Goodness. Why are you such a flawless writer?
