I thought thus chapter was really great, truly I did, because the way you dealt with some of the most raw human emotions was pulled off so well. Anyone can write about loss, but only a few can place an impression on the reader and let us feel the characters pain. I think what made this chapter and story so far so unique was the fact that Sirius and Regulus do have this strong brotherhood, which is so different to what we see in the books. I feel like details like these, well, they weren't necessarily skipped over in the books, but they didn't have a main focus as with other characters. I just feel like there is a lot of deep brotherly love with Sirius and Regulus that nobody can deny, even though it goes hand in hand with betrayal too. Through that ramble...haha...I felt like through this totally AU fic you've done something brilliant in letting readers think more for themselves about the characters.

As for the actual plot...its really intriguing because as I said it is totally AU and yet it makes sense to have the aristocratic Black family in such a situation. There are so many unanswered questions and it's your brilliant writing style that in a way sweeps over them so I guess we're left with them until the end, to make us read more. Nice one ;) haha!

Introducing James at the end there was just SUCH a good thing to do because it totally lightened up the whole atmosphere, giving such a heartbreaking chapter a lighter twist. If you had ended the chapter on a downer the reader would have get that too but it was kinda nicer to have something to look forward to. I loved how he literally popped out of nowhere, shrouded in mystery.

A really enjoyable chapter :) sorry it's taken so long to get to in terms of reviewing. A Levels = bane of my life :( Laura xxx

Author's Response: Hey! Don't worry about the wait, I don't mind. I know real life can get in the way sometimes. :)

I think that I've written loss a lot in my stories so it's definitely something I'm comfortable writing. I'm glad my comfort level was portrayed well in this chapter.

I love Regulus and Sirius and I wish that there wasn't this divide between them in canon. I mean, I understand it, but at the same time, I've always had this feeling that Sirius and Regulus were close. At least before Sirius was sorted into Gryffindor and before he struggled to actually accept the ideals he was raised to believe in. I definitely wanted to portray that relationship pre-Hogwarts that I always imagined.

When I first came up with the idea for this story, the Black family was the first family to pop into my mind. They've always had this strong belief that they were "royalty" in the Wizarding world and I think that is easily transferred into an AU such as this one.

Hah! Well, I definitely want you guys to come back so I can't reveal everything, can I? ;)

I thought about leaving it without introducing James, but like you said, I wanted to lighten up the atmosphere a bit. James will be such an integral character in Sirius's life, in the way that he's raised, so I thought it was important to introduce him now and let you guys mull over what his appearance actually means.
