This is an amazing chapter! You've set up the tension very well, I'm absolutely hooked already. You have an excelled grasp on both prose and dialogue, and balance the two nicely. This chapter was a pleasure to read, the flow perfect.

You characterize Julianna very well, already she seems like a strong character, and her love for her daughter is clear. I can't help but wonder what Evie will be like.

You've left a lot of unanswered questions in my mind about Julianna's family, the Ministry and the test, but that's all to be expected, and is necessary, this early on. Wonderful chapter.
