okay, I read 'once defied' just then, so no I'm raeding this I already like the start of it (great job!) but when I checked the last time you updated was 2010 and its nearing the end of 2011I was ondering that is this story abanndonned? I hope not, your a great writer and have a talent for this. I was aslo wondering- am I right?- that the 'once defied' & 'twice defied' is coming from the prophecy when its said, 'they defy the dark lord 3 times'? is there going to be a 'thrice defied?' welll i hope that you just couldn't be bothered updating, not that you have given up, please, please, update soon!

P.S- I loved the way in "once defied" that you made peter seem like an alright guy, because he probaly was, I'm sick of other fics always making him out to be evil, and wanting to get revenge for being shunted out, he wasn't shunted out, he was included, and you captured that well!

To start off with, the story is not abandoned. I still think often about the next chapter, and try and work on it when I can. I really have just hit the worst block with the story...nothing I come up with for a new chapter seems to work the way I want it to. :/ Anyway, I am a moderator on the forums, so I am around HPFF on a very regular basis--if I ever decide I simply can't go on with the story, I promise I will take the time to mark it as abandoned.

I know that's not much comfort when it's been so long since I've updated, but I promise that I intend to as soon as I can! I really appreciate your encouragement; getting new reviews reminds me that it's important that I keep going. :)

You're absolutely right about where the title comes from, and I do intend to one day write a "Thrice Defied".

I'm so glad you liked Peter's characterization. Though I confess to despising Peter, I also think he is a very compelling character who has a unique part in James & Lily's story. Misconstruing his character really changes the whole story, in my mind!
