Review:gingersnape says:
Hello there, gingersnape from the forums with your review!

First, I apologize for having this go up shortly after the post saying it was up go up, rather than the other way around. I hope you didn't get too worried about where this review was.

I loved this chapter, not only because I find 12 year old boys to be hilarious in the case of this story, but because I loved the insight to Lily's mixed feelings on Petunia, and I love how the flowers incorporate smell into these things.

Smell and memories gets it's own paragraph, because I feel it can show so much about a story and a character in just little mention. Smell is the closest connection to memory, and by bringing in how Petunia smells, it shows that Lily really does care about her sister, and I got the feeling that Lily never stopped associating the smell of violets with the people she cared about. It really is the best way to remember something that is gone, and seeing it in a story brings a whole new level of connections between readers and characters. Oh I just love it!

I loved how James and Sirius were adorable in their arrogant yet immature ways. I don't think I want them to grow up, because I really got a lot of pleasure out of imagining Alan Rickman with bubblegum pink hair! And I did love to see Lily in her Lily-hate mood against James. Oh, and another thing I thought was clever was how James really tried hard in Transfiguration. Not only did it give good set up to their becoming animagus, but ti made it very believable that he could be the first to succeed.

And I saw that you were having troubles with your fourth year flower, so I'll throw some good ones out there should they not be used or too difficult: fuchsia (favorite flower ever... they're just so elegant yet wild) morning glory, lupin, tulip, daisy, sunflower, and magnolia. Hopefully you'll at least find some inspiration in those! =D

Thanks for somehow sitting though my tangenty rambles, and I wish you luck in the rest of your story! :)

Author's Response: Oh, no, don't worry. I am checking things on the Internet right now, since I cannot fall asleep. *sigh*

I am yet again delighted that you caught on the (in this particular case) dual meaning of the flower, since Lily doesn't keep it only for James. And yes, people often underestimate the smell, even though researches have proven that it is more memory-evocative than both images and sounds.

James and Sirius are really fun to write, though I try to be careful to make them more like real persons rather than walking joking doodles. The animagus thingy - yes, it fit really nicely. I am trying to fit things throughout the years to the story. Next year is *small spoiler* Quidditch.

Thanks for throwing the flowers. Although I am trying not to give them away, yet again I have to say that you may have guessed some. I'll have to think about the others...

And again, repetitively, I thank you greatly for the lovely review. I think that you even managed to return a bit of my lost inspiration :)))

Best,
Kail
