I continue to be amazed by the quirky, vivid, almost morally-driven nature of this afterlife. (Not quite enchanted by it; it is a daunting place. That episode on the bench outside the antique shop was rather horrifying, as though he had walked a few feet outside his home and vanished into a fog. James fear of the dark -- I wondered what underlay that)

The need for forgiveness, to survive within this eternity, gives it an almost Christian character. As though the quality of forgiveness is determinative of whether a being experiences the after life as heaven or as hell.

I thought the scene with Regulus was wonderful.

This is fine writing, and this was a fine chapter.
