"Television, it sounds really neat!"
"Oh it is!" Hermione and Fred had been sitting on a couch in the commons room for nearly 2 hours now, talking of nothing other than the muggle world. Fred thought that cell phones were great but that was before he'd heard of the television. He sat back and relazed, with his left arm resting on the arm of the chair.
They'd finished studying. They liked to study with each other, they found it helped allot. Fred took a deep breath, and rested his head on hte tip of his fingers. Hermione had of course turned her attention to a book. She then noticed the stare he had upon her.
"What?" She asked with a puzzled gaze.
"nothing, why?" he hadn't noticed he'd been staring.
"Well, you were staring at me like I was the turkey we had after the 30 hour famine!"
"Oh, sorry. Hadn't notice."
She closed the book and set it down on the cofee table in front of them. She took a small sip of butter beer and sat back on the couch. She and Fed had told Harry and Ron that they would stay in the commons room until they got back from the library.
Hermione folded her arms at her waist and laid her head back on the couch. She tried to rest with her eyes closed but found this position unconfortable. She tried to find a confortable position but was unable. She somehow came to find herself staring at Fred who had his eyes closed. She stared at his shoulder with a longing feeling of resting on it. She couldn't seem to keep herself from doing it. She just stared.
After she'd been stareing for a good 2 minutes (but what seemed to be a lifetime for her) She snapped her head away. She started to move to the right side of the couch but Fred suddenly grabbed her elbow.
Before she knew it she was falling asleep on his hsoulder. She couldn't help but to feel her heart skip beats as she lay there. His arm around her, his steady breathing, but she couldn't understand why she was feeling this way about Fred. Only two month's after the breakup with Krum.
The common room door opened and they woke with a start. They expected to see Harry and Ron But instead they saw George and Parvati.
"What are you two do ing down ehre?" George asked.
"Waiting on Harry and Ron." Hermione explained wipping the sleep from her eyes. "Where are they?"
"They are in the library doing some research for Hagrid. We said we'd stay up till they got back."
"You've been studying?"
"Yes." Fred said abruptlky.
"Oh. Thats why you refused to come with me and Parvati. Your letting mums words get the better of you?" George said with raised brows.
"I'll talk to you later. Go to bed already." Fred said with a disapoiknted look on his face as he threw a couch pillow at his brother.
George walked up the stairs to his dormitory. Parvati walked the stairs to her own. She had a disapointed look on her face though. Everyone knew parvati fancied George. He liked her but as nothing more than a friend. They just didn't click together. She had very little in common with him. Though she tried desperatley to find something. She was grateful for the times when Fred would be studying with Hermione. She enjoyed every chance she got to be with George. However, George was very resistant.
"um-uh" Hermione struggled to find something to say to Fred however words were failing her. Usually they would be laughing over his most recent prank. But nothing doing this time. At last she said, "Maybe we should go get them. It's 12:30 a.m."
"Yeah, maybe your right."
They walked out the door and headed towards the library. Hermione found herself wishing they were in the common room again. She was so confortable there, and for some reason had a sence of belonging. She shook herself. Reminding herself that she shouldn't think like that about her best friends brother.
"Um-" she struggle to say something about it, "you know, w hat happened up there-"
"Nothing happened." He interupted. Still carrying earliers disapointed look. "You just fell asleep...on my shoulder."
"Right." She said hiding her frown.
They walked in silence the rest of the way there. Each regretting the words htey had last said.
When they walked into the library and went back to the 'magical creatures' section, they found Harry and Ron. They expected them to be half asleep by now but Harry told them-" The house elves have been bringing us fresh glasses of butterbeer every time ours runs out!" He was so alive you'd think he'd never sleep. Ron was to. He told them-
"It's bloody amazing. I don't see how they know!"
"Do you need any help?", Fred asked looking at them as though they were completely looney.
"Actually if you guys culd take those books-" he pointed to a stack of about 10 large books, "-and take them to the common room to study we'd be thankful." Harry told them. This made Fred's face brighten some.
"Alright." said Hermione walking over and brabbing more books than she could carry. Fred rushed right over and grabbed some leaving her with 3 which, because they were so big, still made her slump allot. "What exactly is it we're looking for htough?" she asked.
"Well, basically what we need is to know how to control a king scribblers powers" Ron told them.
"Why?" asked Fred.
Ron continued, "Because Hagrid wants them to e a lesson next year. In order for that he must first get a scribbler-"
"And in order for that he must first beat the king scribbler in a duel so she will grant him one" said Harry finishing Rons words.
"Sounds easy enough." said Hermione. It was a quarter after one by the time Hermione and Fred were going back into the commons room.
"I know I'm supossed to know the answer to this question," Hermione said as she started into one of the books, "But what exactly is a scribbler?"
"No idea," he replied, "But if I find a picture I'll let you know."
They commenced once more to studying. By 2:15 however, they were unable to stay awake and went back to the couch. Hermione once again started to go to the opposite arm but Fred grabbed her again.
"Look, Hermione, you can rest on me, it doesn't mean anything, you just wont be unconfortable. Plus, you make for a good blanket." For some reason, he couldn't help but feel like he was lying. He felt like it might have meant something to him.
He heard her say "okay" and thought his heart skipped a beat.
He grabbed a couch cushion and put it behind his back so he'd be more confortable.
He layed down and Hermione wrapped herself in his arms.

The boys walked into the common room and found Hermione and Fred lying together on the couch. Ron looked at Harry with a disgusted face.
Harry struggled and went over to them to awaken them.
"Are you two mad? I mean really, My best friend and my brother?!?!"
"Nothing happened Ron." Hermione explained.
"Yeah Ron, we were jsut resting. What time is it?"
Harry looked at his watch but remembered it had stopped working the previous year during the triwizard tournament.
"It's a quarter till 3" Hermione said.
"OKay," Ron said and them left for bed.
"What's eating him?" Fred asked as he failed to hold back a yawn.
Harry looked at him them calmly said, "What would your reaction be if you came in and found your brother curled up on the couch with your best friend?"
"Well, I'd avoid him. Be kinda strange to see LeeJordan and my brother currled up together anywhere doing anything!" Fred's face brightened at the chance to be funny.
Hermione stood up and dashed up to her dormitory.
"What's eating her?" George said with a puzzled gaze.
"Who knows"
The boys headed off to bed.
"What do you think really went on between them?" Ron asked as he lie staring at the ceiling.
"I believe nothing happened."
"You just believe them because you want to believe them."
"I know" said Harry with a deep calm voice. He rolled over and began to sleep.
"Ron lay awak though, for a while, just hinking, trying to take his mind off earliers events so as to avoid dreaming about them.
