Chapter 1: He What!
[Printer Friendly Version of This Chapter]
Harry was running through the woods, weeds catching his feet. He could hear footsteps behind him that belonged to the death eaters that were after him. A vine caught his arm and cut it. Harry whirled around to see if his arm was ok, but was stopped in the process.
“Potter, come on, we don't have time!” a voice called out to him.
“Wha-what's going on! Please tell me!” Harry said shakily. Something grabbed his shoulder and pulled him.
Harry woke up abruptly. He could hear a voice in the background and his eyes were out of focus. His hand touched his face where his glasses should be. They weren't there, so that explained the blurriness.
“Potter, can you hear me?” the voice said. Harry squinted to where the voice was coming from and saw a pale blond blob with pale skin.
“Malfoy? Where am I? Why is it so cold?” he rambled. He sat up and looked around. There was a grey light coming from the end of a tunnel-like structure.
“We are in a cave because you're sleepwalking arse just had to go outside in the middle of a snow storm.” Draco drawled. Harry was confused. He was sleepwalking? And into a blizzard?
“So I sleepwalked out here, and you followed me, so how did we end up in a cave, Malfoy?” Harry asked half accusingly.
“Uhh- that's a long story..” Draco looked down and fiddled with hands.
“Well we have a lot of time before this is over.” Harry motioned to the cave entrance, where the wind was howling.
“Er- ok. Well you were walking down the hall in your pyjamas…” Draco started. He explained that Harry was walking down to the great hall where the front doors were, and opened them and just walked out. Then Draco said a lone wolf came out of nowhere and tried to attack him.
“Then I hit it with some jinxes and pulled you in here to wait out the blizzard. Then you started mumbling in your sleep and I had to wake you up because it sounded like a nightmare.” Draco stated. Harry stared at Draco with his mouth open.
“I uh- don't know what to say, especially to this situation.” Harry said quietly. He looked around.
“Hey, where's my wand and my glasses? he asked. Draco shifted and Harry looked at him. A few seconds later he pulled out Harry's wand and glasses and handed them over silently. He took his glasses and put them on and then transfigured some leaves into blankets. He laid one on the ground, wrapped one around himself and threw another at Draco.
“Thanks,” Harry heard him mumble. He leaned against the wall and stared out of the cave entrance. Harry's mind wandered to Draco. Why hasn't he made a snarky comment yet, or why he even bothered following him.
“Hey Malfoy, why did you follow me?” Harry turned towards Draco.
“I don’t know, something that wasn't me warned me that something wasn’t right.” Draco answered, a small blush appearing on his cheeks. Harry saw this and noted it. Harry studied Draco for a minute, and he noticed that he was shivering.
“Malfoy, come over here.” He said.
“W-why?” Malfoy stuttered, his face turning pink.
“Because you are cold and shivering, simple really…” Harry told the other boy.
“I'm not co-”
“Yes, you are. Now stop arguing and get over here. I will not have you get frostbite and that is final.” Harry scolded while leaning over and pulling Draco to him. He wrapped his around the pale boy's waist and pulled to his chest.
“Potter what are you doing!” Draco squeaked and struggled to get away. Harry just tightened his arms and smirked.
“Just stop struggling and go to sleep, you need it more than I do.” He whispered into the still wriggling boys ear. Malfoy instantly stopped and looked at Harry.
“What makes you say that Harry,” Draco questioned “You need sleep too and you are not going to stay up the whole time we are here. I am not going to die because we both fell asleep!” He hissed. Harry just stared at him thinking, What a git, and here I am thinking he likes me! Now that's a thought to tell Ron…
“We will take turns sleeping Draco, and you are going first, I can stay up easier than you.” Harry countered, wanting no more for him to go to sleep that sit and argue with. “Just go to sleep and I’ll wake you up in an hour or so, deal?” Draco seemed to take this into options and agreed. Within minutes, the blond was asleep on the dark haired boy, said boy staring at the top of the others head. Why was he blushing, he thought, Does this mean he… LIKES me? No he can’t like me, he’s too much of a git to have those kind of feelings. Malfoy mumbled in his sleep, then scooted closer to the raven haired boy. Harry blushed deep red.
“Malfoy,” he whispered. “Wake up.” Draco didn't move.
“Dear merlin Malfoy wake up already!” Harry said furiously, shaking his shoulder a little.
“Mmmn? Pansy, you know not to wake me up before eight. And why is it's so cold in here, there is a fire for a reason.” Draco growled.
“Malfoy, I am not Pansy, nor are we in your common room. Now can you get off me please?” Harry said hotly. Draco froze and slowly looked up. Silver locked with emerald eyes.
“Why did you wake me up, Potter?” Draco said quietly. Harry chuckled.
“I'm surprised you haven't figured it out yet.” Harry said, motioning to their still intertwined bodies. Draco looked down and scrambled away from Harry. The raven haired boy instantly felt a loss of heat. He hadn't realised how warm Malfoy was.
“Besides it's my turn to sleep. Now get back over here, I'm cold.” Harry stated, spreading out a blanket.
“What?” Silver met emerald once more.
“I said no, I'm not going over there.” Draco hissed.
“And why not?” Harry asked vehemently.
“Because I don't want to.” Draco shot back, his face turning pink again. Harry saw this and thought of an idea.
“Hey Malfoy, I have an idea. Let's see who can stand the most physical contact between us. Who ever pulls away first loses, deal?” Harry said cunningly. He knew that Draco wouldn't pass up a challenge, especially if it meant beating the golden boy.
“Fine. But I'm only doing this because I'm cold.” Draco said. The blond crawled over to where Harry was and sat next to him.
“So what am I supposed to do?” Draco asked. Harry thought this over for a moment.
“We will curl up together, not in a romantic way though, and stay there until one of us pulls away. Or when the storm is over.” Harry added. This is working perfectly, Harry thought, a little more time and he will confess if he likes me or not.
“Ok.” he said tonelessly, scooting even closer to Harry and wrapping his arms around the ravens torso. In turn Harry closed his arms around Draco's waist. A few minutes later, Draco was asleep on Harry’s shoulder. Harry's mind wandered to his friends from songs and on and on. Harry started to sing.
"One step closer
I have died everyday waiting for you
Darling, don't be afraid I have loved you
For a thousand years, I'll love you for a thousand more..”
Harry sang softly for a while until he felt eyes on him. He slowly turn his head and saw Draco watching him, half asleep. Harry froze.
“That was beautiful. I didn't know you could sing like that,” Draco said quietly, eyes slowly closing. “You need to sing more often.” he sighed, laying his head on Harry's chest. Harry, blushing furiously, saw the perfect moment to find out the truth.
“Do you love me?” he whispered into the blond's ear. He felt Draco stiffen. It was a few moment before Draco answered.
“Yes, I do.” He said, turning his head so he could face Harry. The raven just stared at the other boy, trying not to show his surprise. Suddenly, almost unconsciously, Harry leaned forward and kissed Draco. The kiss was soft and light. A few seconds passed then the blond responded, deepening the kiss by running his tongue across Harry's lip. Harry granted access to the silent request.
Mean while, Ron, Hermionie, Remus and Snape where looking franticlly for the lost students.
