Chapter 1: Meet the Parents
[Printer Friendly Version of This Chapter]
I woke up with a tingling feeling in my stomache that had nothing to do with the bouillabasse I had the night before. It also had nothing to do with the fact that my boyfriend, Draco Malfoy, was meeting my parents today. It had to do with the fact that I was meeting Draco's parents today.
From what I had heard about Draco's parents, they only wanted him dating pureblood Slytherins. I was a pureblood, but I was nowhere close to a Slytherin, in fact, I was the complete opposite, I was a Gryffindor. Draco keeps assuring me that it doesn't matter, and I really hope he's right.
I get dressed and head down to breakfast. My older sister, Alana, and my twin brother, Adam, are already there.
"Ready for Draco to meet Maman and Papa?" Alana asked.
"Of course I am." I said sitting down. "They're going to love him."
"I still can't believe you're dating Malfoy." Alana said shaking her head.
"Why not?" I asked. "What's wrong with him?"
"Since you started at Hogwarts, every summer, you came back complaining about how much of a jerk he is, and how he's always flirting with you, or calling you a loser. And now, all of a sudden, you're dating him."
I shrugged. "People change."
She shook her head. "Pas toujours." Not always.
I rolled my eyes, wanting to get off that subject. I turned to Adam. "Draco is très excited to meet you Adam." I said smiling.
"Really?" He asked.
I nodded excitedly.
"Is he excited to meet me?" Alana asked.
I shrugged. "He didn't mention it."
Alana's face fell. "What's so special about Adam?"
Adam smirked. "It's the wheelchair," he said. "No one can resist it."
Both Alana and I burst out laughing. "Aria, tell us more about this Draco Malfoy." Adam said after we stopped laughing.
"Yeah." Alana agreed. "You've been keeping really quiet about him all summer."
"It's only been two weeks." I said.
"Whatever, just tell us."
"What do you guys want to know?" I asked.
"Ooh, um, how was your premier baiser?" Alana asked.
"Our first kiss? Um, it was great." I said looking down.
"That's it? No details of how romantic it was? Or how you felt during it?" Alana asked.
I looked over my shoulder to make sure Maman and Papa weren't coming. "Well, the thing is, when Draco and I first kissed, I was kinda…ivre."
"You were drunk?!" Adam exclaimed.
"Shh! Not so loud!" I whispered.
"And everyone thinks you're the good girl." Alana said shaking her head. "And you're out getting drunk and embrasser guys you hate!"
"It's not a big deal." I said shrugging. "It happened like three years ago."
"Oh, so you were getting drunk when you were thirteen! Voilà qui est mieux!" Adam said.
"That is better. I don't do it anymore." I lied.
"I can't wait to bring this up when Draco gets here." Adam said.
"Ce n'est pas drôle!" I exclaimed.
"Actually, it's hilarious." Alana said smirking.
"Don't bring it up." I said. "Another thing not bring up…Nate."
"Why, does Draco get upset when he hears about Nate?" Adam asked.
"Um, Draco kind of doesn't know about Nate." I said looking everywhere, but at my siblings.
"Quio?!" They both exclaimed. "And why not?" Alana asked.
"Never came up." I said. "And Draco doesn't need to know every detail of my life, does he? Besides, I'm never going to see Nate again, am I?"
"I guess not." Adam said.
"So, no problem." I said.
I heard footsteps, that belonged to my parents. "Don't say anything about Nate, s'il vous plaît." I said.
They both nodded, as our parents walked in. "Bonjour, Maman et Papa." I said.
"Good morning sweetie." Papa said sitting down. "So, we're finally meeting your copain today."
"Yes, you guys are going to aimer him." I said smiling.
"Well, he can't be as bad as Alana's last copain." Maman said smirking.
"He wasn't that bad!" Alana said.
"He tried to kiss me the moment you left the room!" I said.
"I know, but that was no reason for you to hex him down the stairs and then give the ears, tail and snout of a porc."
"I thought it was très approriate, since he was a pig." I shrugged.
"Whatever, at least he was French and gorgeous." Alana said.
"Well, Draco is British and gorgeous, which is ten times better." I said back.
"I'll believe that when I see it." She said.
"Oh, you'll see in a few hours." I replied.
The sound of the doorbell echoed throughout our mansion. I knew it was Draco, so I quickly ran down three flights of stairs to answer the door. When I opened it, there stood my tall blonde and gorgeous boyfriend, with a nervous smile on his face.
I immediately throw my arms around him and kiss him. "Oh, hun, I missed you so much." I whispered, smiling.
"I missed you too, babe." Draco said.
"Who knew two weeks of not being with you was going to be torture?" I said before kissing him again. I missed the taste of his mouth.
"Are you nervous?" I asked.
"Should I be?" He asked.
"No, you'll be fine, they'll aimer you." I said.
"They'll love me." Draco said.
"Someone's been practicing their French."
He smiled and I led him into the house. "To buy you some time, I'll give you a tour before meeting my family for lunch, okay?" I asked.
He smiled in relief. "Yeah, okay."
The tour took maybe half and hour, and the last stop was my room. "So,here it is." I said gesturing around.
Draco looked around, smiling. "This is exactly how I imagined your room to look." He said. I raised my eyebrows at him.
"You've imagined what my room looks like?" I asked.
He scratched his head nervously. "Um, kinda, you know just once or twice. I mean, I was just imagining if we ever…made love here, what it would be like."
I smiled. "That is the creepiest and sweetest thing I've ever heard." I walked up to him. "And you won't have to imagine making love in here for much longer."
I nodded and kissed him hard on the mouth. He backs up, pulling me with him, until he backs into my bed. Draco stops kissing.
"Nice bed." He said. "Is it as soft as it looks?"
"Why don't you find out?" I asked pushing him down on it and getting on top of him.
"You want to fool around right now?" Draco asked, a smile coming onto his face.
"Depends, do you?" I asked seductively.
He nodded vigorously and kissed me passionately. His hands ran all over me, sending chills through out my body. I wished so badly that we could have sex, but I knew any minute it would be time for us to go down to lunch. So, I tried my best to keep my hands to myself.
I wished Draco would do the same, because he was just turning me on even more. A few minutes passed.
The door opened. "Hey, guys, lunch is-whoa!" Alana's voice said.
Draco and I stopped. "Hello, there's a thing called knocking!" I exclaimed.
"Je suis dèsolè!" She exclaimed. "I didn't know you guys would be-passons sur, um lunch is ready okay?" Alana quickly walked out of the room.
"So, you've met my sister Alana." I said.
"She's not gonna tell your parents, is she?" Draco asked nervously.
"Of course not, now, let's go." I said getting off him and pulling out of the room.
When we entered to large dining room, my family was already there. My Maman and Papa got up.
"Draco." Maman said smiling. "It's so nice to finally meet you." She said before placing a kiss on both of his cheeks.
"Um, you too Mrs. Merona." Draco said flusttered.
Papa held out his hand. Draco shook it quite confidently.
"This is my brother, Adam." I said gesturing to him. Draco walked over to him and held out his hand.
"It's so nice to meet you. Aria has told me so much about you." He said.
Adam smiled. "So I'm told."
"What am I, a stick in the mud?" Alana muttered.
"And that charming girl over there is my sister, Alana, whom you've already met."
"Yeah, sorry about that." Draco mumbled so my parents couldn't hear.
"It's fine, not like I haven't seen Aria do that before-"
"Hèhè, taisez-vous!" I said.
"What does that mean?" Draco asked as we sat down.
"Why?" He asked shocked.
"No,I told her to shut up." I said.
"So,Draco you're Aria's new copain?" Papa asked.
"Yes, sir." Draco answered.
My Papa looked surprised. "You know what 'copain' means?" He asked.
"Yes, sir, it means 'boyfriend'."
Papa nodded impressed.
The house elves started bringing out the food. "So, what house are you in at Hogwarts?" Maman asked.
"Slytherin, ma'am." He said.
"Aria tells us horribles things about that house." Papa said laughing. "Only kidding."
Draco laughed nervously, not sure how to respond.
I looked at Papa. "Hèhè, rappalez-vous, Papa, je l'aime." Remember, Daddy, I love him.
"Je suis dèsolè." He apologized.
Draco looked very confused. I smiled at him.
"What do you do at Hogwarts, Draco?" Adam asked. "I mean, you know, besides learning magique?"
"Well, like Aria, I'm a school prefect, and I'm the Seeker on the Slytherin Quidditch team." He answered smiling.
"Wow, that's cool!" Adam exclaimed impressed. I could tell he already liked Draco.
"Merci." Draco said appreciatively. I was so proud that he learned a little French.
"Isn't he amazing?" I said looking up at him adoringly.
"He's all right." Alana said.
I smiled sarcastically at her. Then I turned to my parents. "So, Maman et Papa, you remember how I told you how Draco's parents are going to Rome for vacation without Draco?" I asked.
"What are you doing?" Draco whispered.
"Shh." I said to him.
"Yes." Maman said.
"Well, I was wondering if instead of Draco being alone, he could stay with us this summer?" I asked in my sweetest voice.
Draco nearly choked on his drink. I hadn't exactly brought the idea up to him yet.
My parents shared a look, and then looked at me. I gave them my sweetest smile. The one that was impossible to say no to. Maman smiled "Well, of course he can."
"Really?" I asked excitedly.
"Oh, um are you sure?" Draco asked. "I'd hate to impose."
"Oh, non-sens!" Maman said. "It it perfectly fine for you to stay with us."
"Okay, merci." Draco said. I noticed how Papa said nothing.
After lunch, I was in our kitchen with Maman and Papa, while Adam was showing Draco something in his room.
"So, what do you think of Draco?" I asked them.
"He's very charmant and suave." Maman said. "He's a good choice for a copain, pour l'instant."
"What do you mean 'for now'?" I asked confused.
Papa sighed. "Look, Aria, Draco is very nice young man, but vouz n'allez pas de l'èpouser." You're not going to marry him.
"Vouz ne savez pas ça!" I exclaimed angrily. "For all you know I could!" I continued.
"Aria, souyons raisonnables-" he started, but I interupted.
"I am being reasonable!" I said.
"Aria, s'il vous plaît, calm down." Maman said calmly.
"What's wrong with him?" I asked. "Why can't I marry him?"
"Oh, honey, you know it's not traditionnel to marry someone who isn't…well, French." Maman said.
"Quoi?" I asked. "I can't marry him because he's not French?! Ce n'est pas juste!"
"It's not supposed to be fair, it's traditionnel." Papa said.
"And look at his family. They are involved with the Dark Lord." Maman said quietly. "Ses parents are Death Eaters."
"They were cleared!" I exclaimed. "And even if they weren't, Draco isn't like them. You can't judge him based on what his parents did!"
"Honey, no one is saying you have to break up with Draco now, all right?" Maman said calmly. "Just know vouz n'allez pas de l'èpouser."
"And I'm sure Draco knows that too. You two are too young to love eachother." Papa said.
I shook my head. "Je n'aime pas ce que vouz dites, nous aimons eachother." I don't care what you say, we love eachother. I walked out of the kitchen.
I was feeling really good about meeting Aria's family. I had imagined it about a million times, honestly, and I never knew it would be this great. I can't believe that I get to spend the rest of the summer under the same roof as Aria. It's a dream come true.
And I'm so happy Adam likes me too. I was afraid he'd hate me cause I'm sleeping with his sister, and that's the principle. But he likes me enough to show me his room. I still can't believe he's Aria's twin, he seems so much younger than me, but I expect it's because of the wheelchair.
I still don't know how Adam ended up in it. Aria never told me about the accident and I'm not stupid enough to ask, but I really want to know what happened.
"Well, here it is." Adam said as he opened the door to his room. It's actually pretty similar to mine, except it's not nearly as boring looking. His walls are covered with posters of Quidditch teams and players and there are loads of pictures of his family too. Aria is in tons of them.
One picture stands out the most to me, though. It's a picture of Aria hugging some guy, who kisses her on the cheek. I'd seen him on the Platform about three years ago. Why was he kissing Aria? And why did this look so recent?
"Hey, who's that?" I asked Adam, trying to sound casual, and not panicked.
"Oh,that's Nate." Adam replied nonchalantly, wheeling himself over to his bed.
"Nate?" I asked.
"Yeah." He says, then suddenly he seems nervous. "Um, he's an old friend of mine, he had a huge school boy crush on Aria a few years back."
"Oh." I said as I noticed the other pictures of Aria and this 'Nate' guy. They were holding hands in one, dancing in another, and there was even one of them kissing on the lips. I turned away quickly. It was none of my business if this 'Nate' guy had a crush on Aria, it's in the past.
"You really like Quidditch, huh?" I asked Adam.
"Yeah." He says smiling. "I used to play it all the time, before…" his voice trails off.
"What position did you play?" I asked, hoping that would lighten the mood.
"I was a Chaser, and a damn good one too." He said, the smile coming back on his face.
"That's cool." I said nodding.
"Do you love Aria?" He asked, catching me off guard.
"Um, yeah." I said.
"You're not just saying that, are you? Cause I won't get mad if you don't." Adam assured me.
"No, of course not, I've loved Aria from the moment I first saw her." I said.
"Then why were you so mean to her? She always came home complaining about how much of a jerk you were."
"Because, I didn't want her to know how I felt." I explained. "Or I didn't want everyone else knowing. And I took this sick pleasure in Aria insulting me, because at least she was paying me some attention. It was the only way I'd be on her mind, even if it were for a bad reason."
"Wow, you liked her that much?" He asked surprised.
"Yeah, and you don't even want to know what I went through to become her boyfriend." I said shaking my head.
"Hell and high waters?" Adam asked.
"Worse than that." I said.
"Ouch." He winced. "Look, I just want to make sure you truly care about my sister, because she's been hurt before and I won't let that happen again without someone paying some serious consequences. I like you, so I'm giving you a warning."
I was actually really scared. Adam had a seriousness on his face that made me think he would kill me. "I won't hurt her." I promised.
"Good." A voice behind me said. I turned around to see Aria standing there smiling.
I smiled back. "What are you boys talking about?" She asked.
"A magnifique girl." I answered.
Aria walked over to me shaking her head. "Such a smooth talker." She said before kissing me.
"Really?" Adam said. "I'm sitting right here."
I quickly pulled away, not wanting to upset Adam in any way. Aria noticed. "Draco, don't be scared of Adam, he's a total sweetie." She said.
"Not to guys who are dormir avec ma soeur." Sleeping with his sister. I knew there was the principle.
"What makes you think we're sleeping together?" Aria asked.
"Because there's so much sexual tension between you two, it's disgusting. And Alana told me what she walked in on today." Adam explained.
"It was all Aria." I said quickly.
"Thanks hun." Aria said sarcastically.
"Hey." Alana said walking into the room.
"Why are you telling everyone about what you saw in my room today?" Aria asked her.
"Because it was funny." Alana answered. "Be lucky I didn't tell Maman et Papa."
I feel very lucky about that. Aria rolled her eyes. "Quel que soit." Aria didn't teach me that one, but I assume it means whatever.
Aria looked around the room. "I haven't been in here forever." She said. Her eyes landed on the pictures Adam had. I swear I saw her look at the picture of her and Nate kissing. "Adam you should get rid of some of these pictures, don't you think?" She asked.
"Have you gotten rid of yours?" He asked, smirking.
"That's none of your business."
"I didn't see any pictures on your wall." I said to Aria.
"Maybe because you were too busy groping Aria to notice." Alana said smirking.
I didn't say anything, because odds are, that was the case. "Okay, let's stop with the comments about what Draco and I do in the privacy of my room." Aria said.
"Well, what else is there to talk about?" Adam asked.
"Why don't we share some stories with Draco?" Alana asked.
Aria smiled. "Yes, why don't we?"
The stories they told were hilarious. At first I thought it wouldn't be too fun, because I thought you'd have to be there for it to be funny. That completely wasn't the case. We were having so much fun, I lost track of time.
"Oh, damn, Aria we have to go." I said.
"Aw, okay. See you guys later." Aria said getting off my lap.
"Okay, have fun." Adam said.
"Bye." I said, pulling Aria out of the room. We said bye to her parents and the Flood over to my house.
"Wow, it's so big." Aria said in awe.
"Let me give you a tour." I said grabbing her hand. Considering my house was bigger, the tour took longer. Finally we ended in my room, where we had an amazing snog on my bed, until one of my house elves told us it was time for dinner.
I could feel Aria tense up. "Babe, you'll be fine." I said encouragingly. She nodded nervously. We walked into the dining room, and there were my parents.
"Mother, Father, this is Aria, my girlfriend." I said.
My mother smiled and walked over to her. "Oh, it's so lovely to meet you,Draco has told us so much about you." She said hugging Aria.
"Thank you, it's wonderful to meet you too, Mrs. Malfoy." Aria said.
"Oh, please dear, call me Narcissa." Mother said.
Aria nodded as my Father reached us. "Hello, sir." Aria said holding out her hand.
My father took it. "Hello." He said. "Very nice to meet you." He said smiling slightly.
"You as well, sir." Aria said smiling nervously. She told me my Father scared her.
"Why don't we sit down?" My mother said. We walked to the table, and I pulled Aria's chair out for her.
"You raised quite the gentleman." Aria said smiling.
"That's so good to hear." Mother said. "Since Draco is our only child, we made sure to teach him manners and respect."
"You did a wonderful job." Aria said.
"Thank you." Father said.
We were silent as the house elves brought out the food. I could tell Aria was really nervous, she kept playing with her hair, and her leg was shaking.
"So, Aria, Draco tells us you transferred from Beauxbatons in your second year, what was that like?" Mother asked.
"It was extremely nerve wracking, honestly." Aria answered. "Coming into a new school, not knowing anyone is never fun, but it was worth it, because I knew Hogwarts had an amazing educational system."
Both my parents seemed impressed by her answer. Thank Merlin too, because the last girl I brought home wasn't very smart, and my parents weren't impressed with some of her answers.
"What house are you in, Aria?" Father asked. I was hoping that question wouldn't be asked.
"Gryffindor, sir." Aria said, quietly.
"And you're dating a Slytherin? Very brave, very brave indeed." He said quietly.
Aria looked extremely uncomfortable, so I stepped in. "Actually, I think it's pretty brave on my part." I said. "I was the one who had to work up the courage to ask her out."
"Right." Father said quietly.
Dinner went on, and more questions were asked, but none were as akward as the house question. Then my parent's vacation came up.
"Oh, yeah, about that, I'm staying at Aria's while you guys are gone." I said. "Aria's parents said it was okay."
"Oh, Aria, dear, you must tell your parents thank you from us." Mother said.
"I will." Aria smiled.
"Um, excuse me, but I need to use the restroom." Aria said politely.
"Do you need me to show you where it is?" I asked.
"No, it's fine." She said getting up and walking out.
"So, what do you guys think? Isn't she amazing?" I asked my parents smiling.
"She's lovely, dear." Mother said. "But do you really think she's your type?"
"What do you mean? Of course she's my type." I said. "She's the only girl I've ever truly wanted to be with."
"Well, that doesn't mean she's right for you." Father said.
"I don't understand, what are you guys trying to say?" I asked.
"That while Aria is splendid, it will never work out between you two." Mother said softly.
"Why not?" I asked.
"Well, you don't expect to marry her, do you?" Father asked.
"Actually, I kinda do." I said.
"Well, you can forget about that." He said dismissively.
"But why?" I asked. "What's wrong with her?"
"Nothing, dear, but you must think about your future." Mother said. "Draco, she doesn't fit in your future."
Father sighed. "Draco, the Dark Lord shall return soon, and we must be ready to serve him. Do you think Aria will stay with you once she finds out you serve the Dark Lord?"
"O-of course." I stuttered uncertain.
"Oh, please, Draco, you know she won't. She's friends with that mudblood Granger and Potter, she'll be on their side."
That was true, but she said she'd love me no matter what. That means even if I'm a Death Eater, right?
"You know it won't last, Draco." Mother said quietly. "So, please don't fool yourself into thinking so."
"No." I said. "I love Aria, and she loves me, nothing is going to change that."
"Draco, you must be reasonable." Father said. "You will never have a future with this girl. So you should end it before you get hurt."
"Of before you hurt her." Mother finished.
"I will never hurt Aria." I said firmly.
"If you continue this relationship for too long, you will." Father said.
I shook my head. "I won't let anything come between us no matter what happens." I got up and went to find Aria.
Hey. So, here it is, the first chapter. Hope you guys love it as much as "What Happens". Tell me what you think. Thanks for reading!
Chapter 2: A Little Advice
[Printer Friendly Version of This Chapter]
"So, what do I do?" I asked Alana and Adam. I had just told them about the conversation I had with my parents about my non future with Draco.
"No idea." Alana answered. "I'm too shocked at the fact that they didn't like Draco as much as they seemed to."
"What do you guys think of him?" I asked them.
"I like him." Adam said. I looked at Alana expectantly.
She shrugged. "He's all right, I guess. I didn't get to talk to him much, but, you were right, he is gorgeous."
I sighed. "I don't see why Maman et Papa don't like him. He's amazing. And I can't marry him because he's not French? Ce n'est pas juste."
"Well, do you actually plan on marrying him?" Alana asked.
"Puet-être." I shrugged. Maybe.
"Well, then if you're not even sure, why does it matter?" She asked.
"Because I at least want to have the option of being able to."
"Did you tell Draco?" Adam asked.
"Of course not. I have no idea how he would react to that. He'd probably be pissed, I mean, his parents aren't telling him he can't marry me." I said.
"About his parents," Adam said. "Are they, you know…Death Eaters?"
"I don't know." I said. "They seemed very nice and they didn't seem like they were servants of the Dark Lord. Though, I could tell they were less than thrilled when they found out I wasn't in Slytherin."
"Maybe they only seem nice." Alana suggested. "What if it was just an act, and they're really muavaise?"
"His parents aren't evil." I said. "Or not to me anyways." I muttered.
"Why are we even talking about this?" Adam asked.
"Because I don't know what to do. How am I supposed act like Maman et Papa don't want me with Draco when he's spending the summer here?"
"Now, that I'm not completely sure about." He said. "But are you gonna be okay this summer? We both know you're still kind of hurting from what Nate did last summer."
"No, I'm not." I said quickly.
They raised their eyebrows. "I mean I'm not still hurting." I corrected myself. "Nate is a selfish secousse who I want nothing to do with anymore."
"Are you sure?" Adam asked concerned.
"Positive. Je suis sur elle." I'm over it.
They didn't look convinced, but they said nothing. I really am over it, I swear. Just because it's been almost exactly a year since Nate shattered my heart into pieces, doesn't mean I'm still dwelling on the past. I could really care less.
"So, when do Draco's parents leave?" Alana asked, trying to change the subject.
"Next week." I replied. "By the way, Maman et Papa said the day Draco comes to stay, they have a huge surprise for me. Any idea what it is?"
Adam and Alana exchanged looks. "Nope." Adam said. I knew they were lying, but I didn't press it. I'd rather be surprised.
I shrugged. "Whatever."
"So, anything else you need advice on?" Alana asked.
"You call that advice?" I asked. They both gave me weary looks. "All right, now that you mention it, I need advice about my relationship with Draco."
"Allez-y." Adam said. Go on then.
"Well, you know how Draco and I have been dating for five months? Well, I love him a lot, but I'm not in love with him and-"
"Tenez," Alana interupted. "You guys have only been dating for five months and you already love him? C'est fou."
"It's not crazy." I said. "Mine and Draco relationship is very complexe, you guys wouldn't fully understand all that we went through to get where we are today. C'est trop." It's too much.
"Okay, continue." Adam said.
"Okay, like I was saying, I love him, but I'm not in love with him. But he's in love with me, so that makes things kind of incommode when we talk about it."
"You bet it's uncomfortable." Alana said. "Poor Draco, in love with a girl who doesn't love him back, how triste." She said dramatically.
"Hey, I do love him!" I protested. "I'm just not in love with him…yet."
"Why aren't you in love with him?" Adam asked.
"I don't know. I mean, loving him is so easy, but actually falling in love with him is hard."
"I don't understand." Alana said. No surprise there. "How is Draco already in love with you?"
"Well, he's been in this relationship about four years longer than I have." I answered.
"Quio? Four years?" She asked.
"Draco has been in love with Aria from the moment he saw her." Adam informed her.
"And why did I not know this?" She asked.
I shrugged. "Ne semblent pas importantes."
"Clearly it is important, since it's information I need to know in order to give you advice." She said rolling her eyes.
"Whatever, just how do I deal with this?"
We were all silent for a moment, thinking about what the answer could be. "Do you think maybe you, know, Nate is the reason you can't fall in love with Draco?" Adam asked.
"No, I don't think that." I said dismissively. "Nate has no effect on my feelings what so ever."
"Speaking of Nate. You know when you told us not to mention Nate to Draco?" He asked.
"Yes." I replied slowly.
"Well, I kind of did."
"Adam!" I exclaimed. "I thought I specifically asked you not to do that."
"Well, it wasn't my fault, he brought it up!" Adam said defensively.
"How?" I asked.
"He saw the pictures of you and Nate on my wall, and he asked who it was. But he asked really casually, like he was just curious."
"What did you tell him?" I demanded.
"Well, I told him that it was Nate. Then I realized I made a mistake, so I told Draco he was an old friend of mine that had a school boy crush on you." He explained.
"And he wasn't mad?" I asked anxiously.
Adam shook his head. "He started talking about Quidditch."
"Oh, Dieu Merci!" I said relieved.
"Why don't you just tell Draco about Nate?" Alana asked.
"Because he doesn't need to know." I said. "It will just remain one of those unspoken things." I said getting up. "And it's a big thing. I know he doesn't have something like that. Things are easier this way."
"You'll have to tell him some day." Alana insisted.
"Why? According to Maman et Papa, I'm not marrying him anyways." I said walking up to my room.
When I entered my room and I went to the far wall, where I had a collage of pictures. I had added pictures of me and Draco, but my eyes were drawn to the pictures of me and Nate. For some reason, I couldn't take them down. I stared at them, hating the face that smiled and kissed me in the picture.
The face of someone that betrayed me. The face of the person that kept me from falling in love with Draco.
"Seriously, what am I gonna do?" I asked Blaise. I had told him about the conversation I had with my parents about me not marrying Aria.
"I don't know." He replied. "I can see how they're right though. I mean,do you think Aria will still want to be with you once you become a Death Eater?"
"She said she'd love me no matter what." I said.
"Somehow, I don't think she meant if you were a Death Eater." Blaise commented.
I groaned. "But I'm in love with her. I don't want to be with anyone else. She's 'the one'."
"Not 'the one' that's going to stand by you and serve the Dark Lord." Blaise pointed out.
I sighed deeply. "Ugh, you're right! Once the Dark Lord comes back, and I get turned into a Death Eater, and Aria finds out, she's going to dump me!"
"I don't know why you never thought of this before." Blaise said.
"Well, when I thought about my future with Aria I was thinking it would be Death Eater free. And now, my future is going to be Aria free." I felt like crying, but that's not manly, and I don't want to cry infront of my best mate. He'd just make fun of me.
"Draco, look, maybe the Dark Lord won't come back, and then you can marry Aria and stop whining about your life." He said unconcerned.
"But the Dark Lord is coming back, my parents told me. And they said soon, so that means I have to end it with Aria soon, but I can't do it." I whined.
"Have you talked to Aria about this?" Blaise asked.
"Of course not!" I exclaimed. "I can't tell her that my parents said we can't be together. Do you know how insulted she would be? It's not like her parents are telling her she can't be with me."
He nodded. "True, very true." He said.
"I'm screwed." I said putting my head in my hands in defeat.
"I'm sorry to say it, but you kind of are. Unless you can somehow convince Aria to serve the Dark Lord, or convince your parents to let you not become a Death Eater. But both of those options don't seem like they would work out."
I looked up at him. "Oddly enough, that doesn't make me feel any better."
"Sorry, just trying to be helpful." Blaise shugged.
"I know, sorry." I said. "I'm just so stressed. I mean mine and Aria's relationship is complicated enough, without all this Death Eater drama."
"Complicated? I thought you guys' relationship was great." He said confused.
"It is, but, it's just hard being in love with Aria, and her only loving me, but not being in love with me yet."
"Well, what do you expect? You did get a really big head start in the relationship. It took Aria a few years to actually get in the relationship."
"I know, but it makes things so akward when we talk about it. And I know she feels so bad about it too. I hate that I'm so in love with her, and I can't even marry her." I said shaking my head.
"You should have known not to have started a relationship with her." Blaise said.
"Why, I love her." I said.
"Yes, but I thought that after last summer you knew that you don't exactly have a say in who you marry. You know, with Camille and all."
"Hey, that got called off remember?" I said quickly. "That is in no way relevant to me and Aria."
"So, I guess you never told her about it then?" Blaise asked, smirking.
I avoided eye contact. "No...she doesn't need to know. This is a big secret that she needs to know nothing about. If she found out I had a secret this big that I've kept from her, she'd never trust me again. It would be different if she had some dark secret too, but I know she doesn't." I explained.
He shrugged. "Whatever, man, but I just feel like you should tell her before she finds out some other way."
"There's no way she's ever finding out about this."
Aria took my hand as she led me through her living room to her stairs.
"How does Adam get up the stairs?" I asked curiously.
"Like this." Aria said pusing a button. The stairs disappeared, and a ramp took it's place.
"Oh." I said nodding. She pulled me up the ramp, stopping half way to kiss me. She pulled away smiling, I knew that smile. She was extremely turned on and she wanted to have sex. Lucky for her, so did I.
We practically ran the rest of the way to her room. Aria closed the door, pressed me against it and then kissed me. Her tongue eagerly ran over mine. Man, I was so turned on!
Aria pulled us off the door and over to her bed, still kissing me with the same amount of eagerness and intensity. We fell on to her bed. She started kissing my neck, and as I moaned, something caught my eye on her far wall. A collage of pictures, like Adam had. Even from the bed, I could see the pictures of Aria and Nate. Something about that bothered me.
I kissed Aria on the lips so I could try to wipe the image of Aria with another guy out of my mind. It worked.
Suddenly, there was a knock at the door. "Yes?" Aria groaned.
"Maman needs the Floo Powder, what did you do with it?" Alana's voice asked.
"Um, hold on, I'll be right there." Aria said quickly putting her shirt back on.
"You, wait here. We'll continue when I get back." Aria said grinning seductively.
The moment she left, I sat up. I tried to keep my eyes on everything but the collage. But I couldn't help myself, so I walked over to it. I see a few pictures of me and Aria.
Most of the pictures are of Nate and Aria. Kissing, laughing, holding hands, swimming. I thought about what Adam told me. This didn't look like a 'school boy crush' it looked like a relationship. But Aria never mentioned it, so it can't have meant much.
But then again, there are so many pictures, it had to have meant something. My eyes rake over the pictures, and stop on one of Aria infront of the Eiffel Tower, kissing Nate. He was in France with her?
I heard Aria's footsteps, and I quickly went back to her bed and sat down.
Aria's smiling. "Okay, now, we have to whole house to ourselves, so no interuptions."
"Great." I said faking a smile, trying to forget the fact there's a guy out there that I don't know, who means alot to Aria.
A/N: Hey, sorry if this chapter was kinda boring. It was just a filler, but don't worry, the next chapter is dripping with interest and drama! Hope you're enjoying the story. Thanks for reading!
Chapter 3: Surprise
[Printer Friendly Version of This Chapter]
"Why are you so nervous?" Alana asked the morning Draco was coming to stay.
"Um, hello, boyfriend coming to stay for the rest of the summer? I want everything to be perfect!" I said.
"Yeah, I wouldn't count on that happening." She muttered.
"What do you mean?!" I asked quickly.
"Rien, rien." Alana said waving her hand. Nothing, nothing.
I rolled my eyes. She had been making comments like this for the past week. "Whatever, aren't you supposed to be leaving with Maman et Papa to go get my stupid surprise?"
"Yep, you're gonna love it too." I could tell from her voice, I wouldn't. "Bye Aria." She said exiting the room.
I sighed in frustration. What was the surprise?! And why wouldn't I like it?! I went into Adam's room.
"What is the surprise?" I asked him.
"I'm not allowed to tell you, Aria." Adam said. "I wish I could though."
"Is it going to ruin my summer with Draco?" I asked.
"It might." He shrugged uncomfortably.
I sighed, laying back on his bed. I wanted this summer to be perfect. I needed it to be perfect. Last summer was just horrible. All because of Nate.
For as long as I could remember, I'd had a crush on Nate. Him and Adam were best friends. We all grew up together, we would spend hours playing outside. And every summer, Nate would stay with us. When we started school, nothing changed, except I guess his feelings about me.
Apparently, he started seeing me as more than just Adam's sister, and before he could tell me, I had decided I wanted to attend Hogwarts. We wrote to eachother all through my first year at Hogwarts. I told him about the friends I had made, and he told me about what was happening at Beauxbatons.
That summer was when things really changed. Nate told me how he felt, so I told him how I felt. It took Nate all summer to tell me, so I was off to Hogwarts again. But we promised eachother that we would be together for real the next summer.
By the time the school year ended, I was dating Blaise, but I had a promise to keep. I put me and Blaise on a break, telling him it was because I was going to France, which was half true. I would be in France, but I'd be there with Nate, as my boyfriend.
That summer was amazing. It was sad when it ended and we once again we had to go our seperate ways. We decided he would be my summer boyfriend and I would be his summer girlfriend, so we could date other people while we were in school.
We still wrote to eachother. I started falling in love with Nate, even though at the same time I was with Blaise, Cedric, and Ron. When summer started, I put me and Ron on a break, just like I did with Blaise. I now know that it didn't matter much to Ron, he was already cheating on me with Hermione.
By then, I was in love with Nate. I didn't want be with anyone else. I wanted to be with him all the time, not just during the summer. He said he was in love with me too. We started talking about the future. I remember he used to say we'd be together until the end of magic. Everyone knows that magic never ends, so that was a big deal. I was ready to give up everything so that would happen.
I was going to fully break up with Ron, and I wouldn't return to Hogwarts, instead I would go back to Beauxbatons to be with Nate. My parents were ecstatic when we told them. They had always liked Nate, and they thought he would be a perfect husband for me. French people marry very early, so that's why they're always so interested in who I wanted to marry.
Then Nate started acting really weird, he became kind of distant and secretive, but I never thought much of it. I was just so focused on our future together. One night, after we made love, he told me he was really going to miss me. I thought he meant he'd miss me while we were sleeping.
The next day, when I woke up, Nate wasn't in bed. I went downstairs to the dining room, he wasn't there either. My family had looks of sympathy, and Maman handed me a letter. It was from Nate. He said he was going back home for some space, he said it had nothing to do with me, and he just needed some time away.
I still blamed myself, I thought I had pushed him away. I was getting too serious and rushing things. A few days later, I was in the room where Nate had stayed, and I found a letter from a girl named Anya who went to Beauxbatons. It read:
So I asked my parents if it was okay that you come for the rest of the summer, and they said it was fine. I can't wait to see you again, I miss your kisses. We're going to have so much fun together! Let me know if you can escape Aria. I miss you so much, and I hope you can come.
I still remember the feeling I had after reading it. I felt sick and betrayed. Nate had left me for someone else, and he didn't even have the decency to tell me truth. Or even tell a lie to my face, he wrote me a letter instead. He was going to let me think I had done something wrong. I wanted to rip the letter Anya wrote to shreds, as though it would change the reason why he left. But it wouldn't.
I kept the letter as a reminder of the betrayal and the fact that Nate Onsorìo wasn't in love with me. He had manipulated me and took advantage of the fact that I loved him. Never again would I let him or anyone else do that. Of course, Ron ended up doing that, but it barely hurt, compared to the pain of Nate doing it.
Telling my parents that Nate and I were no longer together was hard. They were devastated. I didn't tell them the real reason, I used the lie that Nate had. I showed Alana and Adam the letter Anya had written, though, so they knew the real reason.
So here I am, a year later, my heart was finally put back together after Nate had shattered it, and now it belonged to someone else. Draco.
"Aria, wake up." Someone was shaking me. My eyes snapped open. When had I fallen asleep? I was just talking to Adam.
"What?" I asked yawning.
"Your surprise is here." Adam said.
I sat up slowly. "Where?" I asked.
"In the drawing room." Alana, who was behind me answered.
I got off of the bed and sighed. Adam and Alana accompanied me to the drawing room. They stopped a few feet from the door.
"What are you guys doing?" I asked.
"This is something you need to see for yourself." Adam answered.
I nodded. I opened the door, stepped in quickly without looking at anything, and then turned to close the door behind me. I was so scared to see what was waiting for me. I finally turned around.
There wasn't 'something' there, 'someone' was. Standing only a few feet in front of me was Nate Onsorìo. My breath caught in my throat. I couldn't believe my eyes, there was no way he was really there. I pinched myself to make sure I wasn't still dreaming. I wasn't. I just stared at him.
"Hey, Aria, I've missed you." He said smiling.
How dare he stand there and lie to me?! How dare he come here after what he did?! All I could do was shake my head, still in shock.
"You look amazing." Nate continued.
I had always thought of the moment I would see Nate again. All the the things I would scream at him, how I would cause him as much pain as he caused me. All of that seemed to fly out of my head.
He walked towards me slowly. A smile still in his gorgeous, betraying face. "Did you miss me?" He asked.
Nate was now right in front of me. So close, I could smell his cinammon scent. Something finally snapped in me. I slapped him across the face, kneed him between the legs, and shoved him to the floor.
"Comment osez-vous revinir aprèz ce que vouz faisiez?!" I shouted. "Vous mentir, tahir comment osez-vous vous tenez devant moi après avoir menti?! Je vous dèteste!"
In English, I said "How dare you come back after what you did?! You lying, betraying jerk, how dare you stand in front of me after you lied?! I hate you!" I stormed out of the room.
"What is going on?!" I shouted as made my way down the stairs to the living room where my family was.
"Que fait-il ici?!" What is he doing here?!
"He's your surprise honey." Maman said startled.
"Why?" I asked trying to calm down just a little. "We broke up a year ago!"
"We know, but we thought you should see eachother again. He's staying all summer, just like old times." Papa said.
"Okay, let me see if I can understand this." I said laughing out of pure anger. "You thought it was a good idea to invite my ex boyfriend, who ditched me last year, to stay for the summer, while my current boyfriend is going to be staying for summer also? That seemed fine to you?!"
My parents were usually very smart, but this is just the stupidest thing I had ever encountered in my life.
"We told them you wouldn't like it." Alana said grimacing.
"Wouldn't like it?! This is the worst thing you guys could do to me!" I exclaimed.
"Well, we're sorry, but there's nothing we can do. We can't tell Nate to leave. He's our guest, Aria. So you should calm down and accept it." Maman said.
"Well, our 'guest' is currently on the drawing room floor in a bit of pain. Just a little greeting I gave him." I said before stalking away.
I went in the kitchen. "Please leave." I said to all the house elves. I was becoming nervous. Cooking always calmed me down. I'd make cookies and brownies for Draco. Draco. Oh, how would he feel once he found out about Nate staying here?
Every time we were in my room, I saw him glancing at the pictures of me and Nate. Oh, I'm in trouble!
I was working really hard. I had made two batches of cookies, and I had put brownies in the oven. I was washing the dishes I had used when the kitchen door swung open. I didn't have to look up to know it was Nate. I pretended to not notice him.
"Ignoring me after you attacked me. Not very nice of you, Aria." He said. I didn't respond, I wasn't giving him the satisfaction. "Correct me if I'm wrong, but it seems like you're not happy to see me. And you're cooking? What am I making you nervous about?"
I slammed the bowl I was washing into the sink. "First of all, don't pretend like you know me, or that you have any affect on my moods. Second of all, of course I'm not happy to see you! You are a lying, betraying piece of shit!"
"What are you talking about, Aria?" Nate asked, sounding genuinely confused.
"Don't stand there and act like you don't know what I'm talking about!" I yelled. "I know the real reason why you left! I know all about Anya!"
"Aria, I have no idea what you're talking about. Really." He stepped towards me.
I shook my head. "I saw the letter she wrote you telling you that you could stay with her." I said quietly. He just looked at me. He knew he was caught.
"Did you have fun, Nate? Are you glad you got to escape me?"
"I-it wasn't like that it-"
"I am not stupid." I whispered, determined not to cry. "But I was stupid for loving you."
"Listen to me. Y-you weren't supposed to find out like this. I was going to tell you." Nate insisted.
"When are you going to stop lying to me?" I said angrily. "Why don't you tell me that."
"Aria, if you just give me one more chance-"
"No." I said. "I refuse to make the same mistake twice. You had your chance, and you lost it."
"I'm gonna win you back." He said seriously taking another step closer.
I took a step closer too, ready for the challenge. "No, you're not."
Our faces were so close, and he started leaning in. A part of me didn't want to stop him.
"Aria!" Maman voice said, and I snapped out of my momentary relapse, and stepped away from Nate.
"Yes?" I called.
"Draco is here."
"Send him in!" I said.
"What the hell is a 'Draco'?" Nate asked.
"Not 'what', 'who'. And my parents didn't tell you?" I asked, a smirk coming on to my face.
"No." He said as Draco entered the kitchen.
"Hey." I said walking up to Draco, and kissing him hard on the mouth.
"Wow." He said wrapping his arms around me tightly and getting ready to kiss me. Then he noticed we weren't alone. "Um, hi." He said akwardly.
"Hey." Nate said. He held out his hand. "I'm Nate, Aria's boyfriend."
"What?!" I asked.
"No, he's not." Aria said coldly. I relaxed. I had easily recognized Nate. What the hell was he doing here?!
"Well, I'm Draco. Aria's actual boyfriend." I said.
"Are you staying for dinner?" Nate asked as though it was any of his business.
"Um, I'm staying for the summer." I answered matter-of-factly.
"Really?" He asked. "So am I."
"Huh?" I asked hoping I heard him wrong.
"Draco, I made you some cookies and brownies." Aria said quickly. Aria cooking? That could only mean one thing.
"Are you nervous about something, babe?" I asked looking at her strangely.
Aria giggled nervously. "No, of course not! I, uh just wanted to make you feel welcome." Her voice is unaturally high, and I know she's really nervous. But about what?
"That was really convincing." Nate mutters, and Aria glares at him. How would he know? He shrugs at Aria, smirking. "What? You're voice is all unaturally high, and you did your nervous giggle."
He seems to know Aria just as well as I do. I don't like that at all.
"Oh tais-toi!" Aria snaps. She told him to shut up. Good thing she did before I did.
"I'll shut up lorsque la magie se termine." He said smiling. "When magic ends." This seemed to affect Aria a lot.
"Don't ever say that again." She whispered dangerously. She turned to me with a smile. "Come on, hun, let's go unpack your stuff."
As we left the kitchen, Aria gave Nate the dirtiest look I had ever seen her give anyone.
When we got up the the room I was staying in, Aria turned to me. "I'm really sorry about that." She said.
"Who is he?" I asked.
"He's my ex." She answered hesitantly.
So I was right, there had been something more than a "school boy crush". But that didn't explain anything.
"Why is he here?" I asked. I was trying not to sound as threatened and worked up as I really felt.
Aria shook her head. "My parents thought it would be a wonderful surprise for me if he stayed here for summer, like old times." She sighed. "They are so clueless."
I realized how bitter and angry she sounded. Their break up must have been bad. "What happened between you two?"
"What do you mean?" She asked.
"I mean, when were you two together? How long were you two together? Why did you guys break up? Why do you hate him?" I didn't mean to sound so paranoid and nosy, but I just needed to know.
"You really want to know?" Aria asked nervously. I nodded. She sighed and sat down on the bed. "All right, I'll tell you..."
I'm speechless after Aria tells me all that happened between her and Nate. I'm seriously shocked at Nate's betrayal. How could he be stupid enough to leave Aria? She was going to give up everything to be with him, and he just brushed it aside like it was nothing. Now I'm sure he regrets it.
I'd be lying if I said that the whole relationship didn't bother me. I mean, she was actually in love with this guy, and she was going leave everything behind, just for him. Her parents wanted them to get married. They had it all. I'm so glad Nate fucked up, though. Otherwise this could be a different conversation.
I couldn't imagine what might have happened if Aria hadn't come back to Hogwarts last year. Where would I be? Who would I be with? Would I still be in love with her? Of course I would. I couldn't stop loving Aria if I wanted to. I had already tried once and failed.
"I know that was all really horrible for you, but I'm so glad Nate fucked things up with you." I said.
"And why is that?" Aria asked.
"Because then I wouldn't be here. And you wouldn't be mine, and I would have never won you over." I said bringing my face closer to hers.
She smiled. "I guess something good did come out of him being an asshole, huh?" We kissed. And it still felt the same. It didn't feel like her ex was here to possibly tear us apart. I could see it in Nate's eyes. He wanted Aria back, he would do anything to get her. But too bad for him, I would do anything to keep her.
Aria leaned back on the bed, bringing me with her, kissing me harder with each passing second. I held her down, kissing her as passionately as she was kissing me. Showing her I would never screw up the way Nate did. Showing her I was truly in love with her, and no one else mattered but her.
She pulled away, out of breath. I brushed her wavy hair out of her face, so I could see her clearly. Her dark blue eyes seemed to pierce my grey ones. I couldn't read her for some reason.
"I love you." She whispered so softly, I barely heard. The chill I used to get when she said my name, I now got when she said those words.
"I love you too." I whispered back, kissing her again.
"Well, this sure brings back memories." A voice said. I pulled away from Aria to see Nate in the doorway, the jealousy clear in his face.
"What do you want?" Aria asked, annoyed.
"Dinner time, mi amour." He answered, before leaving. He called her "my love" I hated that.
Dinner with Aria's family and her ex. This should be interesting.
A/N: Sorry there wasn't much of Draco's POV, but the next chapter, there will be. What did you think about Nate? Thanks for reading! :)
Chapter 4: Never Forgiven
[Printer Friendly Version of This Chapter]
Aria grabbed my hand as we walked downstairs together. I didn't have a good feeling about this dinner, I was sure nothing would go in my favor. We walked into the dining room, everyone was already seated.
Aria took the seat across from Nate, giving him a look of disdain. He just smiled at her. I took the seat next to her.
"There you two are." Mrs. Merona said.
"Sorry, I was helping Draco unpack." Aria said.
"More like undress." Nate muttered. Aria kicked him under the table, and he winced painfully. Aria does kick pretty hard, believe me, I know. I'm just glad her parents didn't hear him.
"So, Nate, what have you been up to this past year?" Mr. Merona asked.
"Oh please do share." Aria muttered sarcastically. Her Father gave her a stern look.
"Not much, just going to school, trying to figure out what I want to do, considering it's NEWT year and all." He answered
"Do you have any ideas about what you want to do?" Mrs. Merona asked.
Nate nodded. "I'd like to maybe an Auror. I definitely have the grades to qualify." He smiled at Aria as though she would be impressed. Who cares if he's going to catch Dark Wizards? I don't.
"Nate, that's wonderful!" Mrs. Merona exclaimed.
"Good for you." Mr. Merona said. Okay, apparently Aria's parents care and are impressed. Shit.
"Well, Draco plans on being in the Ministry of Magic." Aria said smiling at her parents. They looked impressed.
"Really?" Mr. Merona asked.
I cleared my throat. "Yes, sir." I said. "I hope to be one of the Governers just like my Father."
"That's great, Draco." Mrs. Merona. I smiled appreciatively at her, and then gave Nate a gloating look. He raised his eyebrows at me.
"So, Aria, what do you plan on doing?" He asked her sweetly.
She gave him a weary look. "I don't think that's any of your business anymore, now is it?" She said.
"Well, it's ours." Alana stepped in. "And we want to know."
Aria sighed. "Well, I want to do something that involves Foriegn Relations. I mean, since I speak both English and French, it seems like a good idea. And it would be a job in the Ministry. So, I'd be close to my boyfriend." She smiled at me.
I smiled back, imagining in the future working in the Ministry, and getting see Aria everyday at work. Sneaking kisses in the elevator, having lunch together everyday, going to business parties together. Announcing to everyone we work with that we're getting married. Now that sounded like a perfect future. Not becoming a Death Eater and having Aria inevitably leave me because of what I am.
"That sounds so cool!" Adam exclaimed.
"I know, doesn't it?" Aria replied beaming at everyone.
Her parents exchanged a look that I didn't recognize, but I don't think it was good. Nate merely frowned at Aria's excitment of having a future with me. Alana on the other hand was smiling proudly at Aria, I wasn't sure why though.
Mr. Merona cleared his throat. "Speaking of the Ministry, Aria, did you tell Nate about your internship next summer?"
"No." She answered. "Why should I? Nate didn't tell me that he was leaving last summer. I was under the impression that we no longer told eachother things."
Damn. People really mean it when they say "Hell hath no fury like a woman scorned." Aria is pissed.
"Aria, really?" Her Mother asked in exasperation.
"Sorry." She rolled her eyes.
"Anyways, next summer, I guess you two will have to write to eachother." Mr. Merona continued.
"Oh, well, Nate sure is good at writing letters, aren't you, Nate?" Aria said coldly. "And your so great at getting them too, huh?"
Alana and Adam gasped quietly in shock. I looked at Aria, she was practically seething. She glared so angrily at Nate, I was surprised she wasn't burning holes into his face.
"What has gotten into you?" Her Father asked.
"Nothing." She said shaking her head.
I felt so bad for Aria. She was struggling with whether to tell her parents the truth about Nate, but I knew she wouldn't. I could see how hard it was to tell me, so telling her parents would be even harder, especially because they loved Nate.
An awkward silence filled the room. Everyone looked everywhere but at eachother. I wasn't sure what I preferred: Aria's parents fawning over Nate, or this silence. Both were very uncomfortable.
"So, Aria, are you up for a little swimming tomorrow?" Nate asked. "It's tradition that we go the day after I get here."
Everyone looked at Aria. "Um, no." She said quietly. "Draco and I are going to that French museum tomorrow."
"Aria, it's tradition for us all to go to the lake." Adam said. I wonder what he did at the lake. Was he able to swim considering his conditon? I didn't ask.
Aria sighed. "Fine, after we go to the museum, we'll meet up with you guys."
Nate smiled. "Great." He said. Although I knew he wasn't at all happy with me coming. He's gonna have to get used to me, because I'm not going anywhere.
After dinner, there was dessert, which was Aria's delicious cookies and brownies. I didn't like that Nate ate them, when she made them specifically for me.
I was sitting on Aria's bed, waiting for her to come back when Nate strolled in.
"Hey." He said.
"Uh, hi." I replied.
"So, you and Aria, huh?" He asked.
"Yep, for about six months." I answered. All right, yes, I added the month that we were secretly dating to how long we've been dating since we got back together, but he doesn't have to know that.
"Six months? That's quite some time. You know, I actually remember Aria talking about you. She said you were a self centered jerk."
"Funny. She said the same thing about you, though I think the word 'arsehole' also came up in reference to you."
Nate raised his eyebrows. "You know, if I wasn't trying to steal Aria back from you, I think we would be good friends." He said.
"Really?" I asked. "Because I don't. We are two very different people. And as for you stealing Aria from me, that's not happening."
"You clearly don't know who you're playing against." He smirked.
"Neither do you. You don't know me. I have destroyed every relationship Aria has ever had, including the one she has with me. I'm not afraid of destroying you too." I said threateningly.
"Last I checked, you didn't destroy the relationship she had with me." He pointed out.
"Well, you fucked that up yourself, you didn't need my help." I shrugged. "Hell, Aria is so pissed at you, you probably don't need my help now either."
"She's just needs a little persuasion is all, then she will come back to me and leave you behind. You don't know her as well as I do." Nate said.
"I beg to differ." I said. "You see, while you were at school at Beauxbatons or where ever the hell you go, I was at school with Aria, getting to know her. I've been in love with her from the moment I laid eyes on her. I was even her first kiss. Did she mention that to you?" I ask triumphantly.
He looks shocked. Guess she didn't mention it. "Oh,so you're her first kiss? No wonder she wouldn't tell me who it was. You may have been her first kiss, but now you're just her rebound from me."
I scoffed. "No, her boyfriend before me was a rebound from you. But, you see, I'm somewhat of a rebound from him. I'm sure she'd forgotten about you by the time she got with me."
Nate looks angry at my comment. I loved that I was getting under his skin. "Listen here, Malfoy." He said. "Aria belongs to me. I will do anything to get her back."
"No, you listen to me, Onsorìo." I said getting up. "Aria is mine, and I will do everything to make sure things remain that way."
"What is going on here?" Aria asked walking into the room.
Nate forced a smile. "Nothing, just having a nice conversation with Draco."
"Well, don't." She said giving him a strange look.
"Don't what?" Nate asked confused.
"Don't have 'nice conversations' with him. I don't like that." She said.
"Anything you want, mi amour." Again with the 'my love' Aria is not his love, she's mine!
"Don't do that either." Aria said rolling her eyes. "Infact, just leave. I need to talk to my boyfriend."
Behind Aria's back, I gave Nate my world famous smirk, causing Nik to glare at me.
"All right then, goodnight." He said backing out of the room.
"Goodnight, Nate." I said in a mocking tone, before Aria closed the door and locked it.
"So, what do you want to talk about, babe?" I asked.
"Nothing really. I just wanted him out." Aria said plopping down on her bed. I sat down next to her.
"Well, I have something for you." I said reaching in my pocket. "With all the drama of Nate being here, I forgot to give you this."
I pulled out the velvet box and opened it to reveal a sterling silver charm bracelet, with charms of the Eifel Tower, a heart, the words "Je t'aime" meaning I love you of course, a teddy bear, and a few other charms related to France.
"Draco!" Aria exclaimed. "It's stunning! Why did you-? This much have cost a fortune! You didn't have to..."
"I know, but I have yet to show you the perks of having a rich boyfriend." I said smiling.
"Wow, it's...it's perfect. I love it." She said.
I helped her put it on and she examined it closer. "Hun, this beautiful, I don't know what else to say."
"Say you love me." I whispered.
"I love you." She said closing the distance between our faces, but not kissing me. "Anything else?" She asked.
"Say you'll never leave me." I said.
"I'll never leave you."
"That's all I need to hear." I said kissing her.
Waking up the next morning, I had hoped the previous day had all been a dream, and that today is really the day that Draco is coming and my surprise is really a puppy instead of my ex boyfriend.
That wasn't the case, because I could feel Draco's arm around me right now, and the feeling of his warm breath on my neck. I could also see the gorgeous charm bracelet Draco got me on the table next to my bed. Therefore, everything that happened the previous day was real. Shit.
Draco stirrs next to me, muttering something that sounds like "Mine, not yours." I have no idea what that even means. I lay there for a few minutes, in silence, except for Draco's occassional muttering.
I turn and look at him, thinking how lucky I am. Draco could have dumped me yesterday after finding out about Nate, but he didn't. He was being really cool about it, and I knew that was hard for him, because his jealousy was something that drove him crazy at times.
And maybe he could see that I really didn't want Nate anymore. And I never would.
Getting away from my family to go to the museum proved difficult. They kept asking if were sure we wanted to go and if we wanted to maybe go another time all together. That was not happening.
After that, they told us to make sure to meet them at the lake when we were done, and make sure we had our swimming suits. I swear, they really didn't want us to go.
Finally we got away, though. The relief was quite clear on Draco's face. I couldn't blame him, because I was just as relieved as he felt. I was excited for the museum, Draco had never been, so it would be fun to show him all my favorite pieces.
We had a great time, which of course had to be ruined by us having to go to the lake. When we get there, my parents are sitting in lawn chairs, and Alana, Adam and Nate are in the water. Adam is floating as usual, not moving much, considering he his legs can't move.
"Do you want to go in?" I asked Draco.
"Yeah, sure." He replied. "It is pretty hot out here."
I pulled of my shorts, and my shirt, to reveal my dark purple bikini, and then ran towards the water and jumped in. I opened my eyes underwater, and it was just as beautiful as it always was. It calmed me, and gave me a sense of peace that I hadn't had since I saw Nate again.
I surfaced to be splashed by Nate when I did. "Hey!" I said splashing him back and laughing as he sputtered.
"You're going down!" He said sending a huge wave my way.
"You suck!" I yelled as I sent a wave of my own his way. Only when Draco joined me did I remember that I hated Nate and shouldn't be having fun with him.
Unfortunately, Draco's presence didn't stop Nate from splashing us. Draco sputtered, wiping the water from his eyes.
"Are you okay, hun?" I asked, laughing slightly.
"Of course babe, I can handle a little water." He said.
"Good." I said throwing some water in his face and giggling.
He picked me up and threw me over his shoulder as I squealed. "What are you doing?" I asked.
"Paying you back for the lovely water you just threw in my face." He said.
"Let go!" I laughed.
"All right, fine." He dropped me in the water.
When I got back above water, I gave my mean look. "Draco Malfoy! You did not just do that!"
"I think I did." He smirked, flicking some water at me.
I swam over to him. "Ugh! I hate you." I said, even though I was smiling.
"Hmm, really?" He asked, pulling me to him. "I never thought I'd love hearing you say that." He kissed me. I wrapped my arms around his neck, and my legs around his waist.
I was very aware that everyone could see us. But, that was a good thing. Now maybe they'll see how happy I am with Draco, and that Nate was in the past.
I'm not sure why I couldn't sleep. I thought I was tired, but apparently not. I slipped out of bed, careful not to wake Draco and went down to the kitchen for a little midnight snack. I found some graham crackers and apple juice and sat on the counter, eating.
Only a few moments later, I heard footsteps. I wondered who else couldn't sleep like me.
Nate walked into the kitchen. "Aria? What are you doing still up?" He asked.
I shrugged. "Couldn't sleep."
"Me either." He said.
We were silent. I hoped he would leave. He didn't. "Aria, what do I have to do for you to forgive me?" He asked.
"Nothing." I said.
"Wait, so you already fogive me?" His voice was hopeful.
"No. There's nothing you can do to make me forgive you. I never will." I said.
"But, come on, Aria, I said I was sorry." Nate said.
"But you're not sorry!" I said. "You're sorry that I found out what you did. I bet if you could go back, you'd still do the same thing, you just wouldn't get caught."
"That's not true." He said quietly.
"Well, I don't know what the truth is with you anymore."
He sighed. "B-but just think of everything you're throwing away. I mean, we both know it's not that easy to let go of everything we had. Everything we planned." He took a step towards me.
"Well, you can blame yourself. You screwed up, not me." I replied.
"What do you want me to say?" He asked desperately. "That I'm truly sorry for leaving you for Anya? That it wasn't even worth it? That she didn't make me feel the way you do? What?"
"You don't get it, do you?!" I asked. "It's not the fact that you left to be with Anya. It's the fact that you lied to me. You didn't have the decency to even lie to my face either. I deserved the truth! I didn't deserve to wake up and find you gone! I at least thought I was worth that."
"No." I interupted. "When you left, I thought I did something wrong! I thought I deserved to have you get away for some space because I had screwed up in some way. I blamed myself for everything. And even after I found Anya's letter, I still thought it was my fault. Why wasn't I good enough to keep you satsified? What did she have that I didn't? Why couldn't you be happy with me?" I was crying now.
"Don't cry. It wasn't your fault..." He said.
"That doesn't matter anymore." I shook my head.
"Yes, it does. We can fix this, we can try again." Nate insisted.
"No, we can't. We never will." I said. "But just so you know, you meant everything. I thought I couldn't live without you. And you hurt me really bad. But you know what's crazy? After all that I still loved you. I still wanted you to come back. I wanted to feel like I was worth something to you still. Apparently, I wasn't."
"You were, and you still are." He said closing the distance between us. "Aria, I still love you."
I closed my eyes, and shook my head, trying to block out his words. "Just forgive me." He whispered.
"No." I cried. "I can never forgive you. Nate, you made all these promises. You promised we'd be together forever, and that we'd get married, and that you'd never leave me, and you broke all your promises. And just because you're back now, doesn't mean you get to get me back."
I walked past him, but he grabbed my arm. "Aria, please don't run away from me."
"I should have started running from you a long time ago. It would have saved me a lot of pain. But I have to thank you, because you made me see that I'm better off without you."
"No, don't say that." Nate said. "Just stop and think for a moment. Think of everything we've been through. All the memories."
"You can take back your memories, I don't want them anymore." I said.
Nate leaned in to kiss me, and I pushed him away. "No. I will never kiss you again. Or miss you, or want you, or fall to you...or love you. Never again."
I turned around and walked out of the kitchen. When I got to my room, I climbed into bed. I shook Draco a little bit.
"Hmm?" He asked sleepily.
"Will you please hold me?" I asked my voice breaking.
"Babe, what's wrong?" He asked fully awake now.
"Just please hold me, and tell me you love me." I said.
He did as I asked. "I love you, so much." He said quietly.
"Now, tell me you'll never leave me." I said.
"I will never leave you. And I will never hurt you." Draco said. I didn't even ask him to say that. He just knew that's what I needed to hear.
A/N: Thanks for reading. Tell me what you think. :)
Chapter 5: Draco's Secret
[Printer Friendly Version of This Chapter]
I was slowly getting used to having Nate and Draco under the same room. I avoided Nate as much as I could, and spent every second I could with Draco. Things weren't so bad.
I'd even go as far as to say that Nate being here made mine and Draco's relationship even better. I think we trusted eachother so much more now. And I felt so much better now that Draco knew my big secret, and now there was nothing that hanging over our relationship. No more secrets between us.
Now, if I could just get him to start having sex with me again...
"What are you doing?" Draco asked me pulling away.
"What does it look like?" I asked as I continued unbuttoning his shirt and kissing him.
"Aria, everyone is here, we can't." He said.
"But we haven't done it in forever." I complained.
"It's only been a month." He said.
"A long excruciating sexless month." I said dramatically. Then something occured to me. "Do you not want to have sex with me anymore?" I asked quietly.
"What? No! Of course I want to have sex with you!" Draco said.
"Yeah, that's what I want to come in on." Adam said from behind us. "I love hearing guys saying they want to have sex with my sister."
"Er, sorry about that." Draco said buttoning up his shirt. "Didn't mean for that to be heard"
"Oh it's fine." Adam said. "At least I know you're attracted to her."
"At least one of us knows that." I muttered. Draco gave me a pleading look, asking with his eyes if we could discuss the sex issue later. I gave him a slight nod.
"So have you heard there's gonna be some huge announcement at dinner?" Adam asked.
I looked at him surprised. "No." I answered. "What's the announcement?"
He shrugged. "No idea. Apparently, it's a surprise."
I groaned. "Can we stop with all the surprises? The last one was horrible!"
"Oh, yes. So where is Nate?" Draco asked.
As if on cue, Nate came waltzing in my room. "Someone mention my name?" He asked.
"No." I said. I wasn't sure why I was lying.
"Well, I'll stay anyway." He said.
"You stay?" I asked scornfully. "But you're so good at leaving."
Nate merely smirked. "You know, you're so cute when you're mad."
"Oh, shut up!" I snapped.
"And now, you're beautiful." He said.
Draco put his arm around me as though to remind Nate that I was with him. Usually, I would have liked this, but since I'm kind of pissed about the sex situation, I shrugged his arm off. Draco looked slightly hurt at my gesture. I pretended not to notice.
Nate noticed the interaction and smirked slightly, clearly pleased with what just happened.
"So, Nate," Adam said. "Do you know anything about the surprise announcement?"
"Don't you have to have a brain to know things?" Alana said coldly as she came in. What is this? Party in Aria's room? "Because Nate lacks that."
"Oh, Alana, how I've always loved how you say what's on your mind." Nate said sarcastically. "Even when it makes you sound like a chienne." Makes her sound like a bitch. He's such an asshole.
"Stupide trou du cul!" She said. Stupid asshole. I couldn't agree more.
"Soyez gentile." Adam said. Be nice. Now, didn't agree at all with him.
Draco looked extremely confused with the conversation, but I'm sure he gathered that Nate and Alana hate eachother. They always have. The whole Anya thing didn't help matters at all.
"Anyways, before was so rudely interupted." Nate threw Alana a contemptuous look. "I actually do know what the announcement is. Infact I'm announcing it."
Please let him be moving to America or somewhere far away, where I'd never have to see him again...
At the end of dinner, we're all waiting for the announcement when Nate clears his thoat. "I have some news to share. I will no longer be attending Beauxbatons."
Yes, yes, yes!
"This year, I will start at Hogwarts."
What did he say? He couldn't have said... "No!" I whispered.
No one heard me over their exclamations. I glanced at Draco. He looked as though he was going to be sick, which is exactly how I felt at the moment.
That night, I lay in bed not believing what was happening. Nate's parents thought it would be wonderful for him to experience new things, so they switched him to Hogwarts. How is my luck that bad? What did I do to deserve this?
"Does he have to come?" I asked Maman as Draco and I were getting ready to go to Diagon Alley to get our school things. Maman had insisted Nate come with us.
"Yes." She said firmly.
"Just kill me now." I said. But no one heard me.
Before we started shopping, we decided to have a drink at the Leaky Cauldron. At some point, Nate left to go to the bathroom.
"Draco I know this isn't the time and place for this, but we need to talk about this." I started. "Do you not want to have sex with me anymore?"
"I already told you I do want to have sex with you." He whispered.
"You say that, but everytime I try to make love to you, you come up with some excuse not to." I said.
He sighed. "I know. It's just that I don't want us to get caught, and then have your parents think all I want to do is shag you. I want them to know that I both respect and love you." He explained.
That made perfect sense. Infact, it was kind of sweet.
I smiled. "Why didn't you just tell me? I thought you weren't attracted to me anymore."
"Aria, I will always be attracted to you. You can turn me on with any little thing." Draco smiled back.
"Really?" I asked. I ran my fingers through my hair. "Does that turn you on?"
"Yes." He said.
I placed my hand on his knee, and leaned closer. "Does this?" I asked. He just nodded. I kissed him. "How about that."
"Mhmm." He said weakly, kissing me hungrily. His hand slid up my knee, up my thigh, into my dress...
"You do realize you're in a public place, right?" Nate's voice asked. We pulled away. I sure hoped we could continue this later.
Draco and I were standing in front of Quality Quidditch Supplies, looking through the window as we waited for Nate to get fitted for robes.
"You want to know something?" Draco asked.
"What?" I replied.
"I started playing Quidditch to impress you." He reddened slightly.
"What?" I asked slightly shocked.
"I thought you had a crush on Potter, and he played Quidditch, so I thought it might impress you if I started playing too." He explained.
"I'm the reason you play Quidditch?" I asked, feeling slightly.
"Yeah," he shrugged. "But don't worry, I actually like it, so it's not a problem."
"You did get lucky, though." I said smiling. "I do kind of have a thing for Quidditch players."
We laughed just as we heard from behind us. "Oh my gosh, Draco?!"
We turned around to see a pretty blonde girl with light brown eyes. I didn't recognize her at all. "Camille?!" Draco asked.
"It is you!" She exclaimed, going into kiss him, but Draco turned it into a hug the last moment. Who was this girl and why did she think it was okay to kiss my boyfriend?
She looked at me curiously. "Aren't you going to introduce me to your friend?" She asked Draco, who seemed to be in a state of shock.
"Um, right, this is actually my girlfriend, Aria. Aria, this is Camille."
"You're Aria?!" She asked before I could say anything. "Wow, I can't believe I get to meet the famous Aria. Draco has mentioned you like a million times." She didn't sound too happy about that I noticed.
"Really?" I asked.
"Oh, yeah." She answered. If she's heard so much about me, why haven't I heard about her?
"So, um how do you know Draco?" I asked in what I hoped was a casual voice. "Are you family, or...?"
Camille laughed. "No, not family, but I almost was once upon a time."
I forced a laugh. "What does that mean exactly?"
She stops laughing and turns to Draco. "She doesn't know?" She asked him.
"No..." Draco answered quietly.
"Know what?" I asked not liking this.
"Well, I'm Draco's ex fianceè."
"Excuse me?!" I asked. "Wha-how?"
"Well, our parents set us up a few years ago. The plan was for us to get married when we turn eighteen. Draco broke it off last year because of well...you." So that explains why she seems to not really like me. But it doesn't explain why Draco kept this from me.
"Wow." I said absorbing this all. I couldn't believe Draco had been engaged. All that time he was chasing after me he was committed to marry someone. And I'm the reason it's over now. How could he not tell me? And here I was feeling guilty about Nate, when Draco was freakin engaged!
"I know it's insane." Camille said. "But at least things worked out. You guys are together."
Draco is being awfully silent, and looks as though he'd rather be anywhere else right now. I just can't believe him.
I don't even notice Nate walk over to us. "Hey, I'm done." He said. He noticed Camille. He turned to me, giving me a strange look. "A friend of yours?" He asked.
"Actually, she's Draco's ex...fianceè." I said.
This can't be happening. It just can't. There's no way that standing in front of me is my girlfriend, my girlfriend's ex, and my ex fianceè. There's just no way. I pinched myself to make sure I wasn't having a nightmare. Unfortunately, I wasn't.
"Excuse me, did you say 'ex fianceè?" Nate asked Aria.
"I sure did." She forces a smile.
There's no mistaking Aria's anger, and Nate's utter glee at this whole situation. I'm suddenly scared that I could lose Aria to him after this. Why did Camille have to be here?!
Camille stuck out her hand. "I'm Camille." She said.
"I'm Nate." Nate said looking all pleased. "I'm Aria's ex. Boyfriend, though. Not fiancè. We weren't engaged at such a young age."
He was really rubbing this in my face. And making matters worse for me and Aria. But I suppose that's what he was trying to do.
"What is the chance you'd be here too?" Camille smiled.
"Um, not slim. I came here with them." Nate answered. "I'm staying with Aria and her family for the summer."
"Interesting." She said looking at me, wondering how I was okay with that.
"I'm staying there too." I said. I was surprised I found my voice again.
"It's an unsual arrangement, but it works out." Aria said, before Camille could comment again.
"Oh." Camille nodded.
I cleared my throat. "So, what brings you here Camille?" I asked.
"Oh, I'm shopping for school supplies." She answered. "You're not going to believe this, but I'm starting at Hogwarts this year."
She's right. I can't believe it. Me, Aria, Nate and Camille at Hogwarts. That's a recipe for disaster, and probably break up.
How did this happen? I never even intended for Aria to ever find out about Camille. I was hoping I could keep it quiet. I had started to feel a little guilty about not telling her, though. I mean, she told me about Nate, and I was still keeping a secret.
That's the reason I'm avoiding having sex with her. I don't feel I deserve to make love to Aria when I'm keeping something for her. It's been so hard to not have sex with her, though. Especially since she's so insistant on doing it. Every night I laid in the same bed as her, and I had to refrain from touching her. It was torture.
But the way things are looking with Aria finding out about Camille, I wouldn't be getting sex anyways. Unfortunately it wasn't going to be my choice.
I looked at Aria. The shock is clear on her face. I can't help but wonder if this is the end...
Chapter 6: Forgiveness
[Printer Friendly Version of This Chapter]
After a few minutes, we left Camille, and started heading back to the Leaky Cauldron to floo back home. I couldn't even look at Draco, let alone hold his hand. I crossed my arms over my chest to show him I was not interacting with him in any way.
He seemed to understand, because he didn't look at me either. He kept his eyes down, and his hands shoved in his pockets. His eyes darted around occasionally, as though making sure Nate and I were still there.
Nate also didn't say much, but a smile was on his face, and it wouldn't take me three guesses to know why. He thinks that now that Draco has fucked up royally I won't be mad at him anymore. He's wrong. True, I'm not as pissed as I was before, I'm still mad about what he did.
The moment my feet hit the floor of our living room, I walked quickly up to my room. I could hear footsteps right behind me, that no doubt belonged to Draco.
"Hey, how was shopping?" Alana asked.
"Fucking fantastic!" I said as I continued walking to my room. I quickly entered my room, and slammed the door, locking it.
I hear Draco sigh on the other side of the door. Then I heard his retreating footsteps. I flung myself on my bed and cried. Draco had kept something this big from me. He was engaged and he never thought to tell me.
If he would have just told me when he found about Nate I wouldn't have been upset, I would have understood that he was scared to tell me. But continuing to keep this secret after finding out about Nate was just wrong of him. He should have told me.
At least he didn't lie, I thought. I don't know if I could take him lying to me again. But Draco keeping this from me, isn't that like lying? No. Maybe he tried to tell me, but I never gave him the chance or something. That must be it. Draco wouldn't risk our relationship like this by not telling me.
I know. I'm purposely making an excuse so we don't have to fight. Whatever.
I heard a knock at me door. Using my wand, I unlocked the door and said "Come in." Prepared to hear Draco grovel. Only it wasn't Draco, it was Nate.
"What do you want?" I asked. I couldn't even sound mad, cause I was still crying.
"To see if you're okay. You seem upset." He shrugged.
"Wouldn't you be if you found out your boyfriend was engaged?" I asked.
"Well, um, I don't exactly have boyfriends, but I get what you mean. I'd be pretty damn upset too." He replied.
"I thought Draco and I were way past keeping things from eachother." I admitted sadly.
"Oh, Aria, he's a guy. Guys are never past keeping things from their girlfriends, or fucking up terribly." Nate sat down on my bed.
"Why do guys have to be like that?" I asked.
"No idea." He answered. "Maybe when I stop doing that myself, I'll have an answer. As of right now, you of all people know that I haven't exactly stopped doing that." There was a hint of regret in his voice.
"This feeling sucks."
"What sucks even more is how the guy feels after he's fucked up terribly. That feeling that you've lost what truly matters to you. How stupid you feel when you realize you had all you wanted all along, you just...didn't know until she was gone. And worse, that pang in your heart, and the sinking feeling in your stomache when your realize you may never get her back." Nate had said this all so slowly.
Is that how he truly feels about what happened with me? Stupid for not realizing I was everything? Did it hurt him that much to see me with Draco? Suddenly I felt bad. I was mad at him, but I didn't want him to feel that way, but he should know how I feel.
"What about the girl?" I said. "That horrible feeling of losing what you wanted because you were being taken for granted. You feel stupid, because you thought you were what he wanted, and then he leaves, and...you realize you're not. And worse, the coldness in your heart, and the sickness in your stomache when you realize you don't really hate him, but you hate the fact that he can make you fall right back in." I had spoken just as slowly.
"I'm so sorry, Aria." He said. "I'm an ass for making you feel like that. I didn't know..."
"I think I finally forgive you." I said quietly.
"That's all I ever wanted." He repiled.
I didn't say anything. A few moments later, someone else entered my room. "Aria, can we please talk?" Draco asked.
"Yeah." I said. Without being asked to, Nate got up,and left.
"Aria, I know, I kept something huge from you, but I'm so sorry. I wanted to tell you, but I was so scared. And I thought you might leave me, and I just couldn't live if I lost you again. And honestly I never thought you would find out. Not because I was trying to keep it from you, I just didn't want you to think me ending things with Camille was your fault." He said quickly.
I just nodded. I couldn't put words together at that particular moment. Draco had kept something from me deliberately.
"Did you love her?" I finally asked. I was scared to hear the answer.
"No." Draco replied without hesitation. "I've only ever loved you."
"But you were going to marry her?"
"No. My parents they set it up, but I would have never been able to go through with it. I knew it was you I wanted to marry."
He was making it awfully hard to be pissed at him. "When did you end it?" I asked.
"Last summer." He answered. "I thought that you and Weasley would be broken up and I'd have a chance to win you over. I didn't want to be engaged when I did that."
"You're making it hard to stay mad at you." I said.
"That's kind of the point." Draco smiled hopefully. "Please tell me you forgive me and that you love me."
I smiled. "I forgive you, and I love you." I said. "But you have to promise that you won't keep anymore things from me."
"I promise." He said quickly.
I had broken the promise I just made to Aria before I even made it. There was something I always had to keep from her. I couldn't tell her my parents were Death Eaters, and some time very soon I would also be one. I would never show her the Dark Mark soon to be branded on my left arm.
That would make me lose her faster than Weasley did after cheating on her. But I couldn't keep it a secret forever could I? Eventually she would find out. But I planned to delay it for as long as possible.
With all this thinking, I hadn't realized that Aria was kissing me. I hadn't noticed that I was laying on my back on her bed and she was on top of me. Aria only pulled away for a moment to lock her door with her wand.
I knew what was happening. Something that I had prevented from happening for a month. We were going to make love. And there was nothing more I wanted to do at the moment. I kissed her back deeply, touching her in a way hadn't in so long.
I brushed her hair aside and put my lips on her neck. As I nibbled her neck, my hands pushed her dress up before finally pulling it off her. Before kissing her again I looked into her eyes. They sparkled with desire and excitement. I'm sure my expression mirrored hers.
I kissed her again, closing my eyes, and just loving the feeling of her hands on me. Aria had tugged off most of my clothes before my eyes opened again.
Aria's eyes were closed, but I could tell she was enjoying this. I couldn't help but think about how much I love her. I almost lost her today. I would make sure that wouldn't happen again for as long as possible.
She forgives me. She actually forgives me. After spending this whole summer trying to convince Aria I'm really sorry, it finally paid off. All it took was for Draco to fuck up.
And now, Aria would most likely dump him, and soon she would be mine again. All I want is a second chance. I made the biggest mistake of my life when I left. I'm not even sure what possessed me to leave to be with Anya. I think it was the physical attaction.
Not that I'm not attacted to Aria, but there was something hot and wild about Anya that drew me in. I had been secretly communicating with her all last summer, and when she invited me to come stay with her, I couldn't say no. I didn't want any type of relationship with her other than a sexual one.
I couldn't lie to Aria's face. I'd either choke, or she'd see right through me. So I wrote her a letter saying I just needed a little space and that it wasn't her fault. Which was true, it wasn't. I made love to her one last time. I told her I'd miss her, and very early in the morning I left before anyone woke up.
Not a day went by that didn't miss Aria. I thought about her constantly, and a few times I had even slipped up, and called Anya 'Aria' instead.
At the end of the summer, I expected to see her and for her to come to Beauxbatons so we could pick up where we left off. It didn't take long for me to realize on the first night back that she wasn't there. I asked Adam where she was, he said back at Hogwarts. I didn't undestand, I wrote her so many letters, asking what happened, and why she didn't come back. I never got a response. Eventually, I stopped trying, and decided I'd have to wait until summer to see her again.
When Aria's parents contacted me, telling me I was welcome to come to their house again for summer. Of course I accepted. I was hoping I could smooth things over with Aria, and we could get back on track. It didn't work out that way, considering she had found Anya's letter.
The fact that she has a new boyfriend doesn't help either. Since then, I've been doing everything to prove I'm sorry and I made a mistake.
I hung around my room for about fifteen minutes after I had left Aria with Draco. I figured that would have been enough time for her to dump him. Hopefully by now he'd be crying.
I went over to Aria's door, which was locked and pressed my ear to the door and listened. I heard no crying, instead I heard moaning. It took me all of a few seconds to realize they were having sex.
They had made up, and he had won her over and now he was making love to my girl. That's it. No more going easy.
I was going to win Aria back if it's the last thing I do.

Chapter 7: All in One Week
[Printer Friendly Version of This Chapter]
After I forgave Nate, life seemed so much easier. I wasn't angry eveytime I saw him, and I didn't roll my eyes everytime he spoke. He was even being really nice to Draco, which was oddly suspicious, but I said nothing about it. And to top it off, Draco and I were back to making love. It was safe to say that life was pretty good.
In the week before school would start back up (which I wasn't dreading so much, except seeing Camille) serveral interesting things happened. For one, I received a letter from Hermione. She was responding to the letter I had written her earlier in the summer about my awkward living arrangements. I had told her to right back when she had time. Apparently, she had been rather busy.
Sorry I didn't respond sooner, I've been so busy! I've been in Italy with Mum and Dad and Harry! Oh, they absolutely love Harry, and I was so happy to get him away from his awful family for a change. Anyways, wow. I can't believe your parents. But at least you and Draco didn't break up. I'm hoping by now things have gotten better. And I'm sure you've forgiven Nate for all he's done. I can't wait to see you next week so you can fill me in on what's been happening. Harry says hi, and we both give our best to you and Draco. Miss you.
I sometimes wished that Hermione was the one with the insane life, not me. The next interesting thing that happened that week was Draco's parents returned early from their vacation. They requested to see Draco immediately. And if I didn't know any better, it seemed like Draco didn't want to go home.
"How about I stay for one more night?" He asked as we packed up his things.
"Draco." I scolded. "Your parents haven't seen you all summer, they miss you."
"All right." He said in a defeated tone.
Draco leaving led to the next interesting thing. Nate and I kissed. But for the record, he kissed me, I may have kissed back a little, but I did push him away. See, this is what happened.
I had been really sad all week. I hadn't heard from Draco since he left, except for a letter reading.
Miss you, love you.
I was starting to think maybe he didn't want to see me anymore that maybe after spending all summer with me, he was bored. Nate seemed to pick up on my sadness. He was always asking if I was okay, and I'd answer with and unconvincing "Yeah." But one day, I couldn't even muster that.
"Are you okay?" He asked.
"No." I answered.
He put his arm around me and gave me a squeeze. "What's wrong?"
"Draco hasn't made any contact with me since he left. I feel like he doesn't want to see me anymore. Like he's bored with me." I sniffled.
"Aria, no one could ever get bored with you." He said.
"You did." I groan when I see the look on his face. "I'm sorry, I didn't mean that."
"Yes, you did, but you didn't mean to say it outloud." He said knowingly.
"Well, yeah." I said. "But it's true isn't it? You left because you were bored?"
"No, I left because I was stupid. It was a huge mistake, I shouldn't have done it."
"So, why didn't you come back?" I asked. "The moment you realized you'd made a mistake, why didn't you come back?"
Nate sighed. "I don't know-"
"Yes you do." I interupted. "I thought you were done lying to me."
"I thought you would wait for me." He answered quietly.
"What?" I asked.
"I thought you would wait." He repeated. "I took everything, our whole relationship for granted. I thought it didn't matter how long I was gone, that no matter what you would wait. I thought we could pick up where we left off..."
"I would've waited." I admitted. "If I hadn't found out about Anya. I would've been back at Beauxbatons. I would've waited forever if I had to."
"Would you have taken me back if I had returned the moment I realized I'd made a mistake? Even knowing about Anya?" He asked.
"Yes." I said.
"Really?" He asked in disbelief.
"Yeah, because it would have showed that I was worth something to you if you came back." I answered.
"You are worth something to me." Nate whispered. "You're worth everything to me."
"Then why did you leave?" I cried. "What did she have that I didn't? Why did it take you being with someone else to realize I was everything?"
"I told you before, I was stupid, okay?" He said wiping the tears off my face. "And you listen to me. She doesn't have anything that you don't. Vous êtes parfait."
I smiled through my tears. He had said I was perfect. No one had ever said that to me, including Draco.
"No, I'm not." I shook my head.
"Yes, you are." He smiled. "And don't you dare try to convince me otherwise."
"I won't." I laughed.
"I love you." He said before kissing me passionately. He pulled away for a second.
"I love you." I whispered before he kissed me again. I couldn't stop myself, I kissed back. Draco wasn't on my mind in the slightest. I just wanted Nate so bad. I wanted things to go back to the way they were. Before the betrayal and the lies, when everything was perfect.
Nate kissed me harder tightening his grip on me, and pressed against me. Then he's touching me the way he used to and making me want him even more. I pull him down on top of me and he holds me down as I wrap my legs around him. We're holding eachother so tight and I know he had no intention of letting go anytime soon, neither did I.
It was when he put his hands up my shirt when it hit me what I was doing. I shoved him away.
"Baby, what's wrong?" He asked confused.
"I'm with Draco. I can't-we can't." I said shaking my head.
"But you just told me you loved me." He protested.
"I know, and I shouldn't have done that." I said.
"So you didn't mean it?" He asked sounding hurt.
"No, I'm not saying that."
"Then what are you saying?" Nate asked.
"That I'm with Draco, and we can't do this." I answered.
"Do you love him?" He demanded.
"Yes." I said.
"More than you love me?"
"That's not fair." I cried.
"It's not supposed to be. You love me more, so leave him." He said.
"I can't do that." I said.
He crossed his arms in front of his chest. "I don't see why not."
"Of course you don't. You don't know what it's like to be left alone."
"That's not fair." He groaned.
"It's not supposed to be." I countered.
"You'll never be fully happy with him the way you are with me." Nate said.
"You don't know that." I said defensively.
"Yes, I do. But you know what, when you decided that you want to be happy with me, I'll be here. I'll wait as long as I have to." He kissed me on the forehead and walked out of the room.
What was I going to do? I couldn't tell Draco, because then I'd have to explain why I had kissed Nate back. I couldn't tell Draco I still loved Nate. Maybe I could say I was lonely. Yeah, that will work. Or maybe I won't tell him at all...
The week before school started up, I got some unsettling news. My parents had returned early from their vacation. They weren't supposed to be back until after I was back in school. Something was up.
They wanted to see me immediatley, and I knew it couldn't be anything good for me. I even tried to stay with Aria a bit longer, but she scolded me and told me I should go see my parents because they miss me. There was no way I could explain to her why I didn't want to go.
Upon my arrival, Mother and Father took me straight to the drawing room. At first we sat in silence. Me looking around anxiously, my Mother wringing her hands nervously, and Father looking quite proud of something. Finally Mother and Father looked at eachother and nodded.
"Draco, the time has come to fulfill your duty." Father said.
"What duty?" I asked.
"Your duty to the Dark Lord of course." Father answered.
"I don't underst-"
"It's time for you to join us." He interupted.
I'm sure my face paled. He didn't mean...no, he couldn't mean.
"It's time for you to be branded." My Father said quietly.
"No." I whispered.
"What?" He asked.
"No, I don't want to." I said.
"Draco, you don't have a choice." He said.
"Mother, please." I said turning to her. "Don't make me do this."
She sniffled and wiped her eyes. "Draco, if you refuse he will..." she let out a small sob. "He will kill you."
I shook my head. "No there has to be another way. I-I can't just give up my life like this. And Aria-"
"Now is the time for you to break up with her." Father said. "You have delayed it long enough. You've had your fun with this girl, but it's time to end it."
"I can't." I said. "I love her."
"Then do what's best for her Draco." Mother said. "If you continue this relationship, the Dark Lord will find out soon enough. He will use the girl to hurt you if you mess up."
"Then I won't mess up." I said quickly. "I'll do everything perfectly, I'll do whatever he says."
Mother sighed. "Everyone messes up sooner or later, Draco. And what if he says to kill her? Then what will you do?"
"I-I..." I sighed. "I don't know."
"Draco, you must end things with Aria or she will get hurt." She whispered.
I nodded, but had no intention of actually doing it. I couldn't. I loved her more than life itself, there had to be another way to deal with this.
"Now, Draco, you must be branded." Father said.
"Right now?" I asked.
"Right now." Father answered.
I closed my eyes, and waited for the inevitable pain.
"Does it hurt?" Blaise asked the next day looking at my left arm with a pained expression.
"Like hell." I said rolling my sleeve back down.
"How do you plan to break up with Aria?" He asked.
"I don't." I answered.
"Well, how do you plan to explain your Mark to her?"
"I don't." I repeated.
"What exactly do you plan to do then?" Blaise asked.
"Tell my parents I ended things with Aria, and find some way to hide my Mark so Aria won't know." I said.
"Oh, so you're going to lie to everyone?"
"I'm not lying to you."
"Draco, lying to your parents, that's understandable. But lying to Aria. Are you trying to lose her again?" Blaise asked.
"No." I said. "That's exactly why I'm lying. I'll lose her if she ever finds out."
"She's going to find out sooner or later." He pointed out.
"Yeah, well I prefer later." I said.
"Draco, we are having a guest over for dinner, please put on some better clothes." Mother said.
"I hardly consider Blaise a guest, he's always here." I said.
She waved her hand. "Oh, not Blaise, dear. Someone else."
"Who?" I asked.
"You'll see, now go change." She ushered me up the stairs.
When I came back down, my jaw dropped. Sitting in our living room was Camille. You've got to be kidding me.
"What are you doing here?" I asked.
"Your Mother invited me for dinner." She smiled.
Why would Mother do that? I asked myself. Suddenly I knew why. She thought I had broken up with Aria through a letter, but she didn't know that the letter really said.
Miss you, Love you.
"Oh." I merely stated.
"I'm sorry you had to break up with Aria." She said, confirming my thoughts.
"No, you're not." I said walking into the dining room.
Dinner as a whole was uncomfortable for me. There was no way my parents could be anymore obvious about wanting me to get back with Camille. Blaise found the whole thing rather amusing. After dinner, things got really bad.
"Draco, the Dark Lord wishes to see you." Father said.
"Right now?" I asked, fear spreading throughout my body. He nodded. Blaise clapped me on the back, saying he'd see me tomorrow. I walked slowly to the drawing room. I knocked on the door.
"Enter Draco." I heard in a high cold voice. I did as I was told.
"I shall make this quick." He said. I thought he was going to kill me. He had found out I hadn't really broken up with Aria, and he was going to kill me.
"I have a task for you, Draco." He said.
"Yes, my Lord." I said like my Father had told me to whenever I was in his presence.
"This year, as you know the sercurity of the Hogwarts castle will be very tight. It will be impossible to get in." The Dark Lord said quietly. "I want you to figure out a way to get Death Eaters in."
For the first time I looked up at him. His red eyes pierced mine. "M-My Lord. How-how will I do that?" I asked.
"Were you not listening, Draco? You will figure it out. This is a chance to prove yourself."
I stayed silent. How would I be able to do this? Especially with having to keep it a secret from Aria?
"If you fail," his voice cut through my thoughts. "The consequences shall be severe. Understood?"
"Yes, My Lord." I said.
"You may leave." He said and I left quickly.
I headed to my room, I was shaking. I pulled my shirt off and threw it to the floor. I looked down at the Dark Mark in disgust.
"I always liked you all worked up." A voice said. I turned around, and there was Camille sitting on my bed.
"What the hell are you doing here?" I asked.
Her eyes raked over my chest smirking. "Just here to make you feel better." She said innocently.
"Well thanks, but no thanks." I said sitting on my bed, hoping she would leave.
"Oh, Draco." She said getting up. Suddenly I felt her hands on me, massaging my shoulders. "You are too tense, hmm?" She whispered.
I closed my eyes. It felt good, I could feel my muscles relaxing. "Doesn't that feel good?" She asked.
"Yeah." I whispered.
"I thought so. Now just relax."
I listened to her. I don't know what was wrong with me. Why I didn't stop her or why Aria was the farthest thing from my mind at the moment.
I felt Camille's lips softly kiss my neck. It felt so good. I had forgotten how good she could make me feel. She continued to kiss my neck, and I just let her. She moved from behind me. And before I knew it, she was in front of me, straddling me and kissing me. And I was kissing her back.
I knew what I was doing was wrong, but it felt so right. Camille was kissing me so passionately, and I was touching her all over the place, and it felt just like old times. I was on my back, Camille was on top of me, and I still hadn't stopped kissing her. I opened my eyes slightly and something on my nightstand caught my eye. A picture of me and Aria.
It was my favorite. We were kissing in it, it was mid kiss and it captured the love between us. We both looked so lost in the kiss and so happy. What the hell is wrong with me?
I pulled away from Camille. "Get off." I said.
She looked taken aback, but did what I said. "What's wrong?" She asked.
"That was a huge mistake." I said shaking my head.
"Because Aria. I love Aria." I said.
Camille scoffed. "You didn't break up with her did you?"
"No." I said quietly.
"I should have known. It was too good to be true. Draco you're a fool for thinking it will last with her." She said.
"I am not." I said.
"Yes you are. Either the Dark Lord will find out about her, or she'll find out about you."
I didn't say anything, because a part of me knew she was right. "Don't worry, when that happens, I'll still be here." She smiled and walked out looking quite pleased with herself.
I slammed the door behind her. What was I going to do? I had cheated. I had betrayed Aria's trust again. How could I explain this to her without causing her to leave? I couldn't I realized. I wasn't telling her, I just couldn't...

Chapter 8: Cheaters
[Printer Friendly Version of This Chapter]
"I guess this is good bye...again." Adam said looking up at me sadly.
I looked back down at him. "Yeah I guess it is. I wish you guys would come with me."
"I would, but it's my last year. I want to spend it with friends, not being the new girl." Alana said.
"How about I come next year?" Adam asked.
I grinned widely. "Are you serious?!"
"Yeah. Alana won't be there next year, I have to be at school with at least of my sisters."
I hugged him. "Now I can't wait for next year." We all laughed.
"You gonna be okay going to school with Nate again?" Alana asked.
I nodded. "Nate, I can handle. It's Camille that I'm worried about. But I'll be fine."
"Alright, we'll see you during holidays then. Don't forget to write." Adam said. I hugged them both and then my parents. I watched them walk away and sighed. I always missed them so much when I went away to school.
I went in search of Hermione. I really needed to fill her in on my latest life fiasco.
The moment I saw Hermione, I pulled her away from Harry and told her I needed to talk to her. I had to hurry before Draco spotted me.
"What's going on?" Hermione asked as she leaned against the large scarlet train that would leave in less than ten minutes.
I quickly filled her in on my moment of weakness with Nate.
"You cheated on Draco?" She hissed.
"I didn't mean to!" I said. "It was an accident. I mean it was just a kiss."
"A kiss is still cheating." She said. "Are you going to tell him?"
"I don't know. Should I?"
"I think you should. If he did something like this, would you want him to keep it from you?" She asked.
"No, I guess I wouldn't." I said guiltily. I honestly felt awful. I loved Draco and I knew how awful it was to be cheated on. Hermione was right. I had to tell him. I just wasn't sure how I was going to do it.
Draco seems extremely nervous when he does find me. He's not his normal confident self, which sends warning signals off in my head. Did he know that I kissed Nate? Had Nate told him to rub it in his face?
I couldn't tell. When I asked him what was wrong he shrugged and said nothing. Something was definitely wrong.
While we were patrolling, we ran into Camille.
She smiled flirtatiously. "Hello Draco. How have you been since...you know?"
What did that mean? Was she talking about the awkward day in Diagon Alley?
He shot her look that I recognized as alarm and anger. "Fine." He said through gritted teeth.
"You still tense?" She asked, still smiling.
"No. I said I'm fine." Draco said.
"Okay. Well if you do happen to get tense again, let me know. I can easily fix that for you." She winked at him and then finally decided to notice me.
"Oh hey, Aria." She said.
"Hi, Camille. Nice to see you again." It was a complete lie, but I was taking a polite approach with her.
"You too." She said looking surprised. She wagged her fingers and flounced off.
"What was that about?" I asked.
"Nothing." Draco said quickly.
I looked at him suspiciously, but said nothing. We patrolled in silence, until to further my awful luck, Nate walked by.
"Aria, hey. I feel like we haven't talked since the...mistake, as you called it." He said.
I giggled nervously. "Um, that's not true at all. We've talked since...then."
"Not really. But we should talk again, don't you think? Maybe you know what you want now?" Nate asked, smirking ever so slightly.
I knew he loved that he kissed me behind Draco's back. He felt he was winning.
"Yeah maybe we should talk." I said shooting daggers at him with my eyes.
"Draco." He said suddenly. "Good to see you. It's been awhile."
"Yeah, good to see you too, Nate." Draco said looking between us suspiciously.
"Later." Nate said walking off, looking absolutely pleased with himself.
"What was that about?" Draco asked.
"Nothing." I said just as quickly as he had. This was killing me. I had I tell him now, no matter how hard it was going to be.
"Draco I have to tell you something." I said.
"I have to tell you something too." He said pulling a velvet box out of his pocket.
"Oh no, Draco, please let me go first." I said eying the box feeling terrible for what I was about to say.
"No I really think I need to go first Aria, this is serious." He insisted.
"What I have to say is serious too!" I said.
We started talking over each other until finally "I cheated on you!"
I stared at Draco. "You did?" I asked. "You cheated on me?"
"Yeah. You cheated on me too?"
"Yep." I said quietly. Well this was weird.
"So we both cheated on each other then?" He asked.
"It's looking like it." I responded.
"Was it Nate?" He asked quietly.
"Yes it was, but it didn't mean anything." I insisted. "It was just a kiss, and maybe I did kiss back but I stopped it and I felt awful about it, honestly Draco I did." I said quickly.
Draco nodded. "It's okay I believe you."
"So was it Camille then?" I asked, my voice unnaturally high.
"Uh, yeah. But she kissed me. I was stressed and confused and I gave into her, but I pushed her away. It was a mistake and it meant nothing to me at all. I didn't mean to hurt you."
"Yeah okay. I believe you." We stared at each other for a moment. "What's the box for?"
"Oh it's a necklace for you. To apologize for what I did." Draco explained.
I couldn't help but laugh. "You were going to give me a necklace to make up for your cheating? That is such a Malfoy thing to do."
Draco chuckled. "It seemed like a good idea at the time."
"So was I supposed to tell my friends 'Oh, Draco got this for me because he cheated on me. Isn't it lovely?'" I snorted.
"Well I mean something along those lines, would have worked, I think." Draco was grinning widely.
"We should just put this behind us." I said. "Clean slate. The past is the past. We still love each other and we still want to be together. That's what matters. I'll forgive and forget if you will."
"Oh I definitely will." He said kissing me. "I know we're supposed to be forgetting about this, but you're a way better kisser than Camille."
"I suppose we don't have to forget everything." I said winking.
"I love you." He said.
"I love you too." I whispered before kissing him again.
The train ride couldn't have worked out any better. I'm a little put out that Aria kissed Nate, but she forgave me for what I did and that's all that matters. Never again will I cheat on her. I love her so much.
I just had to stay away from Camille. The girl is poison with blonde hair. And I knew she would stop at nothing to get me back.
I also had to watch out for Nate. He would apparently stop at nothing to win Aria back. He probably thought he was winning too. He had been so smug earlier. Well too bad for him. Aria and I were staying together. Our exes would not get in the way.
"Nate Onsorìo!" McGonagall called. I had no clue what house he would be put in. I was hoping Hufflepuff.
The hat was placed on his head for a few moments. "GRYFFINDOR!" It shouted.
"No." I whispered. I watched as he practically strutted over to the Gryffindor table and took a seat next Aria who looks shocked.
"That's the ex boyfriend then?" Blaise asked me eying Nate.
"Yeah, that's the git." I said angrily. "Now he's close to Aria and there's nothing I can do."
Camille was finally called up. She sat down and the hat was barely on her head for a second before calling out "SLYTHERIN!"
I couldn't say I was surprised, but I was still upset. Camille would be all over me for sure now.
She sat down across from me. "Hi Draco." She smiled.
I sighed. This year wasn't turning out so great so far.
"So did you talk to Aria?" Blaise asked. I could see Camille leaning in to hear us.
"About the mistake? Yeah I did." I said. "She forgave me. She realized that I didn't mean for it to happen and that I love her and no one else."
Camille looked furious, but said nothing and started stabbing at her food with her fork.
I couldn't help but smile a little bit. I looked over at Aria who was laughing with Nate, Hermione, and Harry. Why was she laughing with him? What was he saying to make her laugh. Jealous raced through me.
"Liking the view?" Camille asked. I looked at her and she was no longer angry. She was smirking.
"I have no problem with Aria laughing with Nate. It's perfectly fine." I said in what I hoped was a calm voice.
"Of course." Camille grinned. I really didn't like her. With her stupid smug look and kissing me and making me cheat on Aria.
Unfortunately that wasn't the end of Camille's smug looks. Every time I looked over at the Gryffindor table, I was angered. Aria was laughing with Nate and talking to him and Nate was getting along great with everybody.
How was I supposed to handle this schools year? It's only a matter of time before Nate makes his next move on Aria, no doubt Camille would be making her move soon too and to top it all off I had to find a way to get Death Eaters into Hogwarts.
This year will be the death of me.
