Chapter 1: The Beginning

“I hate him so much!” Kelsie exclaimed, using hand gestures to portray her resentment for the one and only Sirius Black.

“Hey! I thought the hating and complaining was my job?” Kelsie’s best friend, Lily, replied, chuckling slightly.

After a quiet pause, the two girls burst into joyous peals of laughter. Lily Evans was well known for her constant, and reliable, extreme dislike of James Potter. In her opinion he was a big headed, arrogant toe rag and deserved nothing less the many detentions he managed to receive each week.

Lily and Kelsie were currently sat in compartment 6a, which is the compartment next to 6b. 6b wont mean anything to any first years, or anyone who isn’t acquainted with anything to do with Hogwarts, but, 6b is the marauders’ compartment; which they have shared for every single train ride, since the first time they nervously boarded the Hogwarts express 6 years ago.

After their laughing had subsided, an unmistakable bang of a hex or curse rattled the compartment causing both girls to grab their wands and prepare for a fight.

“I don’t like this” Kelsie commented lowering her wand, “I’m so jumpy now, and even the littlest things make me think…he is here”.

They both knew who ‘he’ was. Since the start of the summer holidays, there were rumours of a dark wizard, gaining power day by day and seeking to destroy anything muggle related. That included witches and wizards who were muggle born. Like Lily.

“I think it’s kind of exciting, you know, having real battles for something you believe in!” Lily said passionately.

Kelsie Snorted, to which lily scowled.

“you just wait and see, I’ll end up locked in fierce battle with you-know-who himself and I will win” she said, grinning.

Kelsie rolled her eyes, then threw her wand down next to her.

“what do you think you’re doing?” Lily demanded, already opening the door to their compartment.

“oh yes, I forgot, Lily Evans must always meddle and know what’s going on” Kelsie replied sarcastically. Sarcasm, whilst being the lowest form of wit, was one of Kelsie’s specialties.

“No!” Lily said, affronted “I’m head girl now, I need to make sure everything’s ok”

Lily was pleasantly surprised to find out that she had been appointed the title of head girl. On the morning of her sister, Petunia’s, first date with a walrus look a like, Vernon Dursley, a tatty owl had flown straight into the Evans’ kitchen window, causing Petunia to squawk and flap her arms like a lunatic.

After bringing the owl inside, Mr Evans untied the letter from the owls leg and took it up to his youngest daughter.

Lily and her parents were thrilled when a gold badge, with head girl written on it in black, fell out of the letter. Of course it wasn’t that much of a surprise considering how hard Lily always worked, and, she had never received one detention in her life.

Finally agreeing, Kelsie followed Lily out of the compartment, into the corridor. Everything appeared to be in order. However Lily had the suspicion that the commotion caused had something to do with the marauders. In fact, she’d bet her new peacock feather quill on it.

Relishing the opportunity to have some kind of authority over the hooligans, she yanked open compartment 6b’s door and strode in, Kelsie in tow.

“I know that hex had something to do with you” Lily said, eyeing both James and Sirius.

“Oh lovely Lily, the love of ickle Jamesie’s life. It was not us!” Sirius declared, trying not to laugh.

“Shut up Sirius, Lily isn’t stupid, she knows it was you.” Remus injected, looking up from his book and smiling at her.

“Ahh Remus, why did you do that! Seriously, just because a girl is in our presence, it doesn’t mean you have to do as they say to impress them!” Sirius complained, shoving Remus.

“At least one of the marauders is a gentleman” lily responded, smiling back.

She looked around the compartment, searching for any clue that suggested what had happened, but to no avail, until…

“Lily look!” Kelsie exclaimed pointing at the ceiling.

Lily looked up to find, her former best friend, Severus Snape, stuck to the roof of the compartment, obviously under some form of enchantment.

She sighed and crossed her arms over her chest “let him down”.

James who had not said a word so far, stood up. The cloak which had been thrown over him slipped off revealing a shiny gold badge, very similar to Lily’s, pinned to his chest.

“WHAT?!” Lily shouted, in shock.

James flinched, then coughed to clear his throat “I heard you got the place of head girl, congratulations, you deserve it” he held out his hand.

Lily didn’t take it, “well you defiantly don’t deserve it” she said coldly, turning on her heel and storming out of the compartment, leaving Kelsie to deal with the marauders.

She slammed the door of 6a and curled up on the long seat which back was against the wall, which separated 6a and 6b.

James potter, Head boy? It just didn’t seem right. What has he done to deserve that? Then, the true horror of the situation dawned upon her. The letter which Dumbledore had sent, informing Lily of her new role at Hogwarts, also said that, because of this role, you may be required to stay up later than normal and so the head boy and girl have their own dormitory. This dormitory, has 2 bedrooms (one for the head boy and one for the head girl), 1 bathroom and a living area.

Lily Evans was going to have basically live with James for the whole year.

“you had to go and leave me with them didn’t you!” Kelsie huffed, throwing herself down onto the seat opposite Lily.

Lily was about to apologise but was interrupted by “actually it wasn’t too bad, once Snape was gone, it turns out they’re quite friendly. Remus is lovely”

The mouthful of water lily was about to swallow, was spat out in a rush, showering Kelsie.

“Heyy! I know I’m meant to have some kind of eternal hate for them, but I just can’t do it.”

This little spout of wisdom from Kelsie, shocked Lily into forgetting to open her mouth which resulted in a puddle of water spilling onto her lap. Because lily had impregnated the material of the school skirt with a water repellent charm, the water didn’t sink in and she managed to return the water to the bottle.

“Nice save lily” she said to herself.

Then, the train pulled into the Hogsmead station.

Chapter 2: The start

So, I don’t like writing loads about how Lily hates James because it distresses me, as they should be together!!! So this is the turning point when Lily realises that James isn’t an arrogant toe rag anymore! Please review, especially if you want me to continue…

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

“Welcome all of you to Hogwarts, I welcome all of you to school. Did you know that here at Hogwarts we’ve got a hidden swimming pool? No I’m just kidding. Anyway, now that I’ve got your attention, I’d like to announce that your head boy and girl of this year are…” The loud, cheery voice of Albus Dumbledore, headmaster of Hogwarts, rang throughout the great hall. “ …James Potter and Lily Evans”

The applause was deafening. The majority of the school were thrilled that James was head boy, considering he was a well known trouble maker, and so were all hoping there would be less discipline. But also because James was a good leader and a very good looking quidditch captain.

All the 7th years were averagely pleased that Lily was head girl. Basically everybody knew of her, but little knew her well enough to harbour any hate or love for her. They all knew she always tried her hardest in class, but the main reason the whole school knew of her was because of James Potter and his frequently declared love.

James and Lily stood up, then smiled and waved at the sea of faces surrounding them. Once seated, Dumbledore said a few parting words and the students, not including the new head boy and girl, swarmed out of the great hall like there was no tomorrow. Everyone wanted a good nights rest before their lessons started.

Kelsie gave Lily a warm hug, “Good luck with Potter” she murmured pulling away and blending into the crowd.

Lily faintly heard her friend shout “Owl me if you can’t bear it!” before she was swept away out of the big oak doors.

“Do you know where the heads dorm is?” James enquired, trying to start up a conversation.

“No Potter, I do not know where the heads dorm is, and if you had read ‘Hogwarts, a history’ then you wouldn’t have asked such a stupid question.” Lily snapped, putting on a wide smile as Dumbledore and McGonagall approached them.

“Now, seeing as you’re both from my house, I assumed there will be no objections to your dorm being decorated with Gryffindor colours?” Professor McGonagall asked, swelling with pride at having the head boy and girl both being from Gryffindor.

Both James and Lily shook their heads.

“Good, well then, if you’d like to follow me” She instructed, walking out of the great hall with Dumbledore.

They went up several moving staircases and along a couple of corridors until they came to a painting of a quaint little house.

“This is the painting of a house in Godric’s Hollow, a couple of doors down from where I grew up as a child.” Dumbledore informed them, tapping the it with his knuckle three times.

“OK, I know both of you know how to set the password, so we will let you come up with something suitable. But when you’ve decided please tell either me or Dumbledore.” McGonagall said, leaving Lily and James stood alone by the painting.

“So why would I have not asked where our dorm is, if I had read ‘Hogwarts a history’?” James said.

“Because, it says in ‘Hogwarts a history‘, that the heads dorm is never in the same place- it changes every year.” Lily answered, tapping the painting three times, like Dumbledore had done.

The painting swung open as if on hinges. Pleased with herself, Lily climbed through the portrait hole, with the expertise of someone who had been doing it for 6 years.

James waited for Lily to get through before he too, followed suit.

The room which they had just stepped into, was one fit for a king. There was a big fire blazing straight ahead of them, built into the stones of the two stair cases either side. The stair cases met so that there was a landing, similar to a balcony, directly above the fire place. From there, there was a final, wider, stair case that led to another landing, which had three doors; Lily’s room, James’ room and the bathroom.

In front of the fire, were several comfy looking armchairs, and dotted about the room were bookcases filled with old, interesting looking books. In front of the window overlooking the quidditch pitch, was a desk with a gold plaque with lily’s name on it. Whilst opposite that, in front of the window overlooking the black lake, was a desk with a gold plaque with James’ name on it.

Upon seeing the room, James’ laughed with glee and threw himself onto the nearest chair. He pulled a square mirror out of his pocket. “Sirius you have got to see this place! It is totally awesome!”

Lily, intrigued, wandered over so that she was stood behind the chair James was casually lying on. The mirror looked like a window, and in that window was a topless Sirius Black, who opened his mouth and said “oh, it looks like Lily’s come to take a peek at my abs” winking in her direction.

In spite of herself Lily blushed, she had taken a look at his torso, and it wasn’t painful to look at.

“Whatever Sirius” Lily retorted, going to a bookcase and taking a book from it at random. She opened the book and sat on the chair nearest the fire.

Seeing as she was engrossed in her novel, James put his mirror away, got up from the chair he was on and moved to the one opposite where lily was sat. He sat content, watching her eyes travel over each page carefully, until she looked up.

“Potter! Stop looking at me like that, it’s creepy and weird.” Lily exclaimed, slamming her book shut, putting it down next to her and jumping up. She ran up the stairs two at a time and into her new bedroom.

Her room was exactly the same as her old one, but instead of several beds, there was just one double bed.

Lily rooted through her things until she found her wash bag and pyjamas, and then she darted into the bathroom, slamming the door shut behind her.

Once in the bathroom she discovered it was massive; there was a shower tucked away in the corner of the room, but similar to the prefects bathroom, there was a swimming pool like bath in the centre. To the left of the door was a marble counter with two sinks and a large mirror which stretched across the length of the counter.

Lily opened her wash bag and emptied to contents into the sink. Next she arranged each bottle of face wash, moisturiser and shampoo around the sink. After that she took a shower, washed her face and cleaned her teeth. By the time she was finished it was gone 11pm.

She exited the bathroom and stated “the bathrooms free”.

In the next 10 seconds she received no reply from James, which was weird. To settle the anxiety welling up inside her, Lily checked the common room for any signs of him, but to no avail. Deciding she’d like to know where James was before she went to bed, she knocked timidly on his bedroom door, which fell open slightly as she knocked. She peered round the door to see, James fully clothed and asleep. She saw that the book she had been previously reading was open on his chest.

His mouth was partially open and his breathing was soft yet heavy; his hair was as messy as usual, but the arrogance, that made Lily dislike him, was gone completely and he looked almost angelic.

In that moment Lily Evans went from hating James Potter with every fibre of her being to thinking, actually, maybe he wasn’t too bad.

Chapter 3: The Invitation

Rate and review; means a lot

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The golden morning sun shone through the open window of James Potter’s room, highlighting the delicate dust motes floating in the air. It was a sunny day, with a cool breeze, which meant that the conditions were perfect for quidditch.

Feeling stiff from falling asleep in his clothes, James rolled out of bed when he was distracted by a soft thump, as something fell off his bed to his thickly carpeted floor. He reached down and grabbed what appeared to be a book. Pushing his glasses further up his nose he realised that the book was in fact, pride and prejudice, which Lily had been reading the previous night.

Stroking the spine lightly, he held the book for a moment and promised himself that he would read it. Not because he enjoyed reading (which he didn’t) but because James remembered that 3 Christmas’s ago Lily’s parents had sent her a copy of pride and prejudice and she went through a phase of talking like one of the characters.

If he was going to get Lily to like him, he first needed to understand her better. He slipped the book underneath his mattress so that if Sirius was to come into his room, he wouldn’t find the it and laugh.

James donned his quidditch gear and was just beginning to button up his shirt when there was a knock at the door.

“Are you decent?” a voice from the other side enquired.

“Yes” he replied, turning round to face the door.

In walked, fully clothed and presentable, Lily Evans. Upon seeing James’ abdominal muscles she blushed. What was with these marauders and their muscles?

Shaking her head to clear her mind, lily continued.

“I was just checking that you were awake…we don’t start lessons till after lunch” she added hastily, turning and walking out the door.

Lily sat down at her desk and opened the transfiguration book in front of her. She was hoping to get ahead before term started so that she had more time for her head girl duties. Normally, Lily would have asked Kelsie for help, as transfiguration was her speciality, but she was sleeping in and had owled Lily late last night, informing her that she wanted a lie in and didn’t want to be disturbed.

Dipping her quill in the inkwell in front of her lily began to take notes from ‘Advanced transfiguration N.E.W.T level’

Carefully, she copied out a paragraph concerning the origins of transfiguration, but just as she was completing the final sentence the deep voice of James Potter drew her mind away from her neatly copied work .

“If you want, I can give you a hand with that” He offered

Lily squealed in frustration, in the one moment that she had been disturbed by James, her quill had left a giant ink blot on her parchment.

“What happened?!” he asked in panic.

“You just made me ruin my work” Lily grumbled, feeling her eyes prick with tears.

“It’s only a small ink blot, its hardly noticeable, but you can remove it anyway!” James said in a reassuring voice. He turned to look at Lily’s face, and was shocked to see she was crying.

“No! don’t cry.” He said in alarm. He wanted to put his arm around her shoulder, in comfort, but he had vowed not to even touch her until she asked him to, so his arms hung limply at his side.

Lily got up and perched on the edge of the chair nearest the fire, her arms wrapped around her torso as if she was trying to comfort herself.

James followed and hesitantly sat next to her.

“What’s up?” he prompted. Minutes went by, and still lily didn’t answer his question. He sighed and got up. Figuring it was best to leave Lily alone, he headed towards the door.

"I appreciate the struggle you have been through, and I am very sorry to have caused you pain. Believe me, it was unconsciously done” James murmured, before climbing through the portrait hole.

Lily looked to where James had just been, seconds before he left. Had he just quoted pride and prejudice?

Wiping her eyes, she decided that there were more pressing matters at hand. She got up and sat back down at her desk, determined to rewrite the paragraph concerning the origins of transfiguration, which had been ruined, onto a clean piece of parchment. Yet again, she dipped her quill into the inkwell and started again.

Just as she had finished the paragraph, her eyes were drawn to the 3 figures down at the quidditch pitch. 2 of the three were on brooms, whilst the 3rd person was sat high up in the stands reading.

Connecting the dots (James had left the dorm in his quidditch uniform) Lily realised that the three people were in fact, James, Sirius and Remus. Deciding she had done enough work for the time being, she set her quill aside and watched the miniature James score a multitude of goals. Sirius, who was attempting to play the part of a keeper, got frustrated and attempted to push James off his broom.

“What cha looking at?”

Lily spun around so fast, that she toppled out her chair into a heap on the floor. Kelsie was stood in the middle of the dorm.

“How the hell did you get in here?!” she shouted.

“Oh you know, I’m just that genius!” Kelsie replied, but upon seeing Lily’s unimpressed face, she continued “I headed over this way because Sirius had told me what corridor your dorm was on and then I saw James and he told me the password, however he never said how to get in. So I wandered about for ages till I saw this painting of a house, which I recognised because its from Godric’s hollow and that’s where Dumbledore lived. And I knocked a few times on the tiny door of house and said the password, and it opened!!” Kelsie concluded, a smug smile on her face.

“You’re such a weird, Dumbledore obsessive!” Lily replied, a smile pulling at the corners of her mouth. “what’s the password anyway?” she asked, a little miffed that James had chosen it without her.

“Darcy” Kelsie replied looking a little confused.

“I found James asleep with a copy of Pride and Prejudice on his chest last night” Lily explained.

Kelsie burst into laughter, the thought of James reading anything was hilarious. He rarely even read the text books in lessons, because as long as he listened to what was being said, he remembered it and didn’t need to read it from the text book to cement it in his memory.

“Oh my goodness! We could destroy him, oooh I could tell Sirius!” She exclaimed, jumping up and down at the prospect of making James look stupid.

“No!” Lily spluttered, realising that she didn’t want James looking stupid.

“Oh, and why the sudden objection to my plan?” Kelsie said suspiciously.

“Oh and why the sudden love for Sirius?” Lily counteracted, raising one eyebrow.

Kelsie blushed “it’s a long story”

“ooh I love long stories!” Lily said, a mischievous twinkle in her eye.

“Fine! Well I was going back to Gryffindor tower after the feast and Laurens was waiting outside the fat lady, and I don’t think he got the hints from my letter about wanting to break up, because he pulled me into a hug and…tried to kiss me. So I was struggling against him and shouting at him, when Sirius ran over, from out of nowhere, and hexed him!” Kelsie said.

Laurens was Kelsie’s boyfriend from the previous year. He was a tall 6th year Hufflepuff with curly dirty blond hair. He had transferred to Hogwarts from Holland, as his parents were part of the ministry of magic and were required to come back and try and track down you-know-who.

“And…?” lily demanded

Kelsie scowled at her friend for deducing that that wasn’t the end of the story “Well, me and Sirius got talking…and I ended up in his room” She blurted out, looking rather sheepish.

Lily was shocked speechless. Kelsie had the strongest morals out of anyone she knew, and she never normally would do anything like that.

“Did anything happen?” Lily choked out, the shock evident on her face.

“NO. NO! We just talked, I mean, he did try to do…stuff but I wasn’t having it. And he’s invited me to go to Hogsmead with him” Kelsie said the last bit so quickly and so quietly, that lily hardly made it out.

“YOU’RE GOING TO HOGSMEAD WITH SIRIUS BLACK?!” Lily screeched, her eyes almost popping out of her head.

“Unless she’s changed her mind, then yes. Yes she is!” Sirius Black himself said beaming, as he, James and Remus piled through the portrait hole.

The outrage of this whole situation left Lily feeling slightly light headed, so she lowered herself down and sat on the floor.

“Lily can I talk to you?” James said politely, offering his hand to help her up.

Lily agreed, shot a confused look a Kelsie, before following James to his room.

“What do you want?” Lily wondered out loud, sitting on James’ bed.

“I just wanted to apologise again, and also to tell you not to stop Kelsie going to Hogsmead with Sirius this weekend.” James answered, sitting down next to her.

Out of all the things she thought James might say, that was not one of them.

“Um ok, it wasn’t actually your fault so you don’t need to be sorry! And why am I not aloud to sabotage their date?” she enquired.

“Because Sirius has liked Kelsie for almost as long as I’ve liked you!” James said, and lily thought she heard a note of sadness in that sentence.

For a split second Lily felt her heart break for him. She knew what it was like to love someone who didn’t love you back.

For the first 2 years of her life at Hogwarts, she had been in love with a Ravenclaw keeper, but Bill never liked Lily back, and it used to hurt her so bad, when he would stroll into the great hall with another girl on his arm.

But then the moment was over, leaving lily, not heart broken, but with a sense of pity for the bespectacled boy in front of her.

James scuffed his boot and looked down at the floor. He looked nervous.

“Also, Lily… I was wondering if you wanted to go to Hogsmead with me because Sirius is going with Kelsie and Remus has got to go see his parents so I cant go with him and Peter doesn’t really hang around with us and I don’t want to go with Sirius and ruin things for him.” He said the whole thing at top speed, so that the pity lily felt for him intensified.

“Sure, as long as you don’t think it’s a date” Lily said, regretting her answer almost as soon as she had said it.

James looked up from the floor, his eyes guarded.

“You being serious?!” He asked

“Er yes” Lily replied feeling uncomfortable with the way he was staring at her.

A breath taking smile, lit up his entire face “Thanks” he said in earnest.

Together they left James’ room, and as they walked into the common room, there was no sign of Remus, but cuddled together on one of the sofas was Kelsie and Sirius, fingers entwined and eyes locked.

Not wanting to ruin the moment Lily shoved James through the closest door, the door to her room.

                                             *                        *                         *

“What was that for?!” James Potter spluttered as he was pushed into Lily Evans’ room, by the girl herself.

“Honestly James, considering the fact that you’re so against ruining things for Sirius and Kelsie, you very nearly did just that!” Lily exclaimed

A perplexed looked crossed James’ face, which was quickly replaced with a smug smile.

“You just called me James!” He said grinning.

“I…I did not!” Lily replied, flustered.

James took a step forward, shortening the gap between them, and tucked a strand of Lily’s hair behind her ear.

“Your eyes are truly beautiful” he breathed, taking a final step, so that their bodies were pressed together. To his surprise Lily didn’t pull away, but relaxed into him, so that she was almost relying on him to keep them both standing.

Deciding that he better not push his luck, he pulled away, but not before kissing Lily’s hair.

“I’ve got charms” he explained, leaving her room before she even had the chance to say goodbye.

Lily let out the breath that she had never realised she’d been holding. What was going on? Why didn’t she feel physically repulsed when James was pressed against her? Why didn’t she feel the hatred, that was such a regular feeling, meaning that its absence felt like a great big gaping hole?

There was a knock at the door, heart leaping, lily yanked it open.

“You coming?” Kelsie asked.

Disappointment coursed though her body. Disappointment in James, for not coming back, but mostly, disappointment in herself; for letting James change the way she felt.

Chapter 4: The new love fixation

Hey guys, hope you enjoy this chapter! Please review

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

“So I was thinking, since I’m going into Hogsmead with Sirius, maybe you could ask Jordan or something, because otherwise you’d have to stay here alone and then I’d feel bad. Oh I know, I could get Jordan to ask you, then you wouldn’t look desperate…”

Kelsie kept talking, unaware that the person she was talking to, wasn’t listening.

Lily Evans was confused. She had been confused before; in exams, during lessons and even at home, but this time it was like her whole world had been taken over and the only thing that mattered was trying to find answers to the questions rattling her brain.

They had only been back a few days, and yet, almost everything had changed.

“Lily! Lily? Lily!?” Kelsie demanded, bringing Lily back to reality.

“Oh, um sure that sounds great!” She said quickly, adding a smile to make her answer seem more genuine.

“So you’re ok with asking professor Slughorn to Hogsmead? Wow, I never realised he was your type!” Kelsie replied with mock surprise.

Lily sighed, “Sorry Kelsie, I’ve just got a lot on my mind at the moment”

Kelsie gave her friend a hug and a sympathetic smile. “This whole head girl thing must be tough” She sussed, linking her arm through Lily’s.

Lily held onto Kelsie’s arm a little bit tighter, she felt so bad for not correcting her, and telling her best friend that actually her hatred for James Potter had dissolved in the space of minutes.

The two girls entered the dark and dingy dungeon, which smelled, for once, not unpleasant.

“Ah! Lily, would be so kind as to tell us all what potion I have concocted today?” professor Slughorn enquired, pointing to the cauldron bubbling merrily on his desk.

Lily weaved her way between the desks till she reached her destination. The potion had a mother-of-pearl sheen and its steam rose in spirals. This was just too easy.

“I believe it’s amortentia, Sir. The strongest form of love potion” Lily said, her clear voice echoing slightly.

Slughorn smiled at his favourite student. “Yes, yes you are right. Of course! 10 points to Gryffindor.” He dipped a ladle into the love potion and poured it into 25 clear vials. “Right, I want each of you to take one of these vials, and to analyse the substance within. For example I want you to state its appearance and smell, then explain why it looks/smells like it does. That is all”

Kelsie grabbed two vials and took them back to the desk, that she and Lily shared. “right lets get to it then” She said, getting out a quill and potions book.

Lily nodded in agreement. She already knew what it would smell like, as a couple of years ago, she had stumbled across a brew of the stuff when talking to Professor Slughorn. Lily dipped her quill in the ink and began to write what the potion smelt like.

“I know you’re clever, but I think it’s best if you smell it before you write about it!” Slughorn suggested, leaning over the two friends.

Rolling her eyes, Lily picked up the vial and raised it to her nose. It would smell like pine needles, freshly baked bread and vanilla. Inhaling the spiralling steam, Lily knew something was wrong.

“Sir, I think mine is faulty” Lily exclaimed, in shock, sniffing it again.

All she could smell now was; wet pavements, freshly cut grass and oranges.

Slughorn frowned and took the glass from Lily’s hand.

“No, it is perfect. I hope you’re not suggesting, by that comment, that you think I’m an inadequate teacher?” Slughorn said, the normal warmth, gone from his voice.

Lily recovered from her initial shock “Oh no Sir! It just smells completely different, compared to the last time I smelled it.”

A small smile appeared on her professors face. “But Lily, you surely know that the smell does change for each person, depending on if they have a new love fixation etc…”

Lily gasped, fear seeping through her whole body. “Thank you professor, for settling my previous confusion”

“That’s ok Lily, we all get puzzled sometimes!” Slughorn replied, bumbling off on his merry way.

“Lily!” Kelsie whispered, kicking her friend under the table.

Lily looked up to see Jordan Lloyd sauntering over, running his hand through his hair.

Jordan Lloyd was a tall, hansom, 7th year Gryffindor, with brown hair and big brown eyes. Not including James Potter, he was one of the best looking boys in the whole school.

“Hey Lils. Was wondering if you wanted to go out for a butter beer this weekend at Hogsmead?” He asked, with a cheeky smile on his face.

Lily’s mind went blank. Jordan Lloyd was talking to her!

“Sure!” She blurted out, tucking her hair behind her ear and smiling back.

“I’ll meet you in the Gryffindor common room at 10 on Saturday then” He said, winking, then going back to his own desk.

Once the class had been dismissed, Kelsie waited till everyone was out of earshot, before shouting: “YOU HAVE A DATE WITH JORDAN!”

However, Lily’s reaction wasn’t what she expected.

“What’s wrong with you?! You’ve always thought he was hot, and you loved the way he smelt of…”

“Pine needles, I know!” Lily murmured, covering her face with her hands.

“Seriously, what is wrong with you! You’ve been acting weird all day!” Kelsie said, truly worried about her friend.

Lily took a deep breath in before replying “Sorry, I’ll be normal from now on!”

“Hey, you’ll never be normal!” Kelsie replied, pulling Lily in the direction of their next class.

Hey guys, I'm been writing a lot lately so i should be putting a new chapter up straight after the previous one validates :') Also i was thinking that if you feel that my fanfic is lacking in any thing, for example; Lily/James scenes, or Kelsie/Sirius scenes, or even some action or whatever, let me know! As usual please review, means a lot

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Lily ran the brush through her hair, detangling the knots, which had formed, from all the tossing and turning that night, but it did not, however, detangle the knots in her stomach.

She had a problem. Lily had agreed to go to Hogsmead with both James Potter and Jordan Lloyd.

Deciding she would deal with the situation when it arose, she went to her wardrobe to choose something to wear. Seeing as the weather was good, she chose her denim skirt and white top, which had lots of tiny blue swallows on it.

She did up the buckles on her brown sandals and put on some eye makeup, grabbed her bag, then dashed out of her room and into the head’s common room, bumping straight into James Potter.

“You ready to go yet?” he enquired, ruffling his already messy hair.

“Um, can we meet there? Because I’ve got to run to the Gryffindor common room to help Kelsie with something.” Lily lied, looking down at her feet.

“…yeh, if that’s what you want” he replied, looking a little crestfallen.

“Thanks” She said, rushing out of the common room and down the corridor.

Just as she reached the portrait of the fat lady, the very boy she was looking for came up behind her and placed his hands over her eyes.

“Guess who?” The deep voice breathed in her ear.

“I have no clue!” Lily replied innocently.

Jordan removed his hands and draped an arm around her shoulders.

“Shall we be off?” he asked, leading Lily towards Hogsmead.

* * *

The Hogshead was crowded. Lily was sat next to Jordan whose arm was now around her waist. Jordan had decided that he wanted to show her off to his friends and so, Lily was sat in amongst a group of at least 10 boys, and it wasn’t the most comfortable situation she had ever been in. The boys were sharing stories from parties they had attended and their drunk antics.

Just when Lily thought she couldn’t take anymore, James Potter walked in the door. Her situation had just gone from bad to worse.

“Hey. Hey, Potter! Come join us!” one of Jordan’s friends shouted.

James strolled over, only to find Lily sat with Jordan. He managed to hide whatever emotion he felt, because his facial features portrayed nothing.

“Are you going to join us?” Jordan asked, stroking Lily’s side; which was his way of silently marking his territory.

James Re-evaluated the scene in front of him “no thanks, I was meant to be meeting someone, but they haven’t showed yet, so I should probably go and find her”

“Suit yourself. Who is this girl anyway?” Jordan shrugged, taking a swig of his butter beer.

“Oh, no one you know well.” James muttered before leaving the three broomsticks, and Lily could tell from his clenched fists that he was angry.

“Hey, you boys wouldn’t mind if I came back in a little bit, would you? I’ve got to go ask James something.” Lily asked, fluttering her eyelashes.

“That’s fine, let me walk you to the door” Jordan offered, slipping his hand around hers.

He opened the door for her, then pulled her into a hug.

“We’ll be here all day, so take your time… but I’ll miss you” he added, leaning in, to kiss her.

Lily panicked and turned her face away, so that he only kissed the top of her head.

“See you later” Lily shouted, walking off into the high street.

She had barely gone 3 steps, when she realised that James was stood at the edge of the path, which led to the shrieking shack, watching her.

“James!” She called, walking in his direction, but he had turned around and started along the path which lay in front of him.

Lily began to run after him, drawing many strange looks from the people around her.

After chasing him for 5 minutes she finally caught up to him. James was sat on the dusty ground, his back against a tree. His knees were pulled close to his chest, and he looked like a little boy.

“James…” Lily began, her voice cracking.

“No, it’s fine Lily, it’s not like we’re going out so why don’t you run along back to your boyfriend and leave me alone.” James interrupted, getting up and placing both his hands on Lily’s shoulders, in an attempt to push her, gently, away.

Anger suddenly began to boil her blood. Now he was being unfair! He had no right to get moody and upset, just because she was sat with another boy!

“I’m sorry James but you don’t need to get so upset! It’s not a big deal” Lily argued, not budging.

James’ eyes widened in shock. “Lily! I’m in love with you! How can I not get upset when I see you sat with another boy, who I know doesn’t know you like I do and doesn’t deserve you! He doesn’t know that you constantly worry that you’re not working hard enough, and that you wish things were better between you and your sister. He doesn’t realise that you’re the most beautiful girl in the world, and that your birthday is the 30th of January…” James shouted, his glasses flashing.

Listening to her heart, rather than her head, Lily cupped James’ face with her hands, and on tiptoes, kissed him briefly on the mouth.

Shocked James pulled away and touched his lips with the tips of his fingers. He looked at the girl in front of him. Currently stood with her arms still slightly outstretched and a confused look on her face, and he was determined to make her, his.

Taking a couple of strides forward, he wrapped his arms around her, then pressed his forehead against hers. For a moment James just looked into her eyes, but then he captured Lily’s lips with his own.

A little further down the path stood Kelsie and Sirius, mouths agape with shock. They had just come back from the shrieking shack, because Sirius wanted to scare Kelsie enough, so that she would hold onto him and rely on him to keep her safe.

“Are you crying?!” Sirius exclaimed, looking down at Kelsie, who’s eyes had filled with tears and a wide smile spread across her face.

“Maybe, but isn’t that one of the most beautiful things? I just know they’ll be together till the end.” She replied squeezing his hand.

Sirius nodded in agreement and looked down at his best friend, whose arms were encircling the red headed girl he was kissing. And all he could think was how he wanted that with Kelsie.

He turned the girl in front of him around, and lifted her chin so she was looking into her eyes. Then he kissed her.

All in all, it had been a good day.
