Love is like war: easy to begin but hard to end ~ Anonymous

Christmas would come and I had no one to stand under the mistletoe with.

That thought made me laugh. Not only because it was the middle of summer but who would ever think that book worm Hermione Granger would think that. Books, spells, not getting expelled yes that must all go through my mind is what everyone thinks – but that’s what use to be in there, it still was a tiny bit but it didn’t consume my thoughts anymore at least.

Those thoughts now belonged to him.

The Pevensie family lived in Birmingham and his summer, and Christmas, would be spent there.

I was at the Weasley’s for the summer because my parents where in Australia for their own safety, they wouldn’t even know who I was if they saw me.

I was lonely; the last time I had seen Edmund was about three weeks ago. Of course I had a lot of people around me, but they were all in pairs – and instead of trying to be a third I sat missing my other half.

And tomorrow would be worse.

Wish me good luck for not keeping my focus on Edmund – Fleur and Bill’s wedding was tomorrow. It’s a good thing for them, just not for a love sick girl who is trying to keep her thoughts away from love.

‘Hermione?’

I turned my head up to see Luna, ‘Hum?’

‘Would you like to come for a walk with me and Harry? The stars are so bright and the moon is full!’ Luna was smiling from ear to ear and just as happy as could be, Harry who was behind her looked downcast – he wanted time alone with her and it showed.

‘I’m alright, go on without me, I’d rather stay inside.’ Now Harry was smiling, but Luna looked a bit sad.

‘You sure?’ Luna pushed.

I nodded and with one last smile Luna and Harry went out the back door.

I looked back down at the book in my hand which I had been staring at but not reading for the past hour or so before closing it and heading up to my room.

The room was quiet; I could be alone with my thoughts. Something I liked and hated at the same time, if that was possible.

I flopped out on my bed and reached over to place my book on the table, a smile lit up my face just a bit at the picture on the bedside table.

Edmund and I had taken it when we went into London, the Big Ben right behind us, he had wrapped his arms around my shoulders and rested his head atop mine – what was nice about the picture though was that it was a magic one, so the Edmund and Hermione in the picture were moving around and laughing and smiling at each other.

It was probably one of the best days of my life.

My fingers gently touched the picture, wishing for that day to have never ended.

I gave one last smile before standing up and getting ready for bed.

I pulled my blue-plaid PJ bottoms on and a white cami before pulling the comb from my hair and crawling into bed. I set the comb very carefully on the night stand next to my picture, smiling as I did.

‘Good night Edmund.’ I whispered, ‘I love you.’

My fingers gently brushed over the red and black Narnian comb before shutting the light off and drifting to sleep.

Edmund tossed this way and that, Peter would feel the vibrations all the way from his bed – which was on the opposite side of the room from Edmund’s.

‘Ed, what had got you tossing?’ Peter’s voice was coated with sleep.

Finally Edmund stopped, laying on his back and staring at the dark ceiling, ‘I miss her.’

‘Who?’ Peter rubbed his eyes and sat up as he turned the light on. It was 3 am and his brother was pissing him off.

‘Hermione, of course.’ Edmund said barley above a whisper.

‘You are love sick alright. But do you have to toss so much? You’ll see her in a week or so.’ Peter said. Edmund sat us as well and turned his bedside lamp on.

‘All I ever do is see her every couple of weeks, we don’t talk much because phones don’t work where she is and I don’t have a damn owl.’ Edmund said, he was clearly awake and stressed, ‘I miss her Peter.’

‘And I’m sure she misses you just as much.’ Peter sighed and brushed his bangs back from his eyes, ‘Then why don’t you go and spend the summer with her?’

‘Mum needs us right now Peter. I can’t just leave.’ Edmund said, running his hands through his tousled hair, ‘After Da died last year—’

‘She has me and Susan and Lu. She would be fine. And believe me, you are being no help just pouting and missing her.’ Peter smiled, trying to get his brother to do the same.

Edmund shook his head, ‘But I—’

BANG!

The Pevensie boys jumped out of bed and turned to the window.

Peter rubbed his eyes again, ‘What the hell was—’

Edmund ran over to the window, ‘I—I think it was an owl.’ Edmund threw open the window and looked down.

‘Well don’t let it in.’ Peter walked over to his brother and pulled him back a bit.

An old barn owl was laying on the roof not more then a few inches away.

‘It has a letter.’ Edmund reached out and tsked till the bird looked at him, ‘Can I have the letter?’

The owl stood up and hopped towards him, when he was close enough he owl stuck out his leg with the letter on it.

‘Thank you.’ Edmund took the letter and hurried to open it.

‘You realize you just thanked a bird right?’ Peter said but looked over his brother’s shoulder to see the note, ‘What is it?’

‘Edmund, the Weasley’s eldest is getting married tomorrow and I know Hermione is missing you. I will be at your house at 10am to pick you up. Harry’ Edmund read and then turned to his brother, ‘Well that was a bit demanding.’

Peter smiled, ‘But you’re going aren’t you?’

Edmund smiled back and started to run back to his side of the room, collecting everything he would need.

Peter crawled back into his bed and turned the light out, ‘So much for Mum needing us so badly.’ And with a last chuckle the oldest Pevensie was sound asleep.

Edmund finished packing in a matter of minutes, his suite was out and ready to be worn the next day and he crawled back into bed – a new feeling of happiness spreading through him.

He turned his head to look at the picture on his beside table, ‘I’ll see you soon Hermione.’ With that he turned out the light and was a sleep in a blink of an eye.

Fleur was one of those people you could only be around for so long. Any longer and you might just want to kill yourself…or her.

I was made to wear a flowing A-line strapless periwinkle, which was beautiful except for that I was a replacement bridesmaid, because Fleur had no one else. Way to make a person feel special. The grooms mean looked like penguins with a periwinkle whatever that thing is that they tie around their waist and white rose boutonnières.

Mrs. Weasley was bustling around making everything perfect. Ginny stood off to the side and Gabrielle was fawning over her sister, which happened when Harry wasn’t around to be fawned over.

Ginny walked over to me, ‘Great the princess is perfect now.’

I had to smile and cover my mouth to hold in my laugh – her mocking voice was just too good.

‘Hey Hermione, can I ask you something? Its sort of personal.’ Ginny said, a bit sheepishly.

‘Yeah.’ I cocked my eyebrow a bit, but curiosity always won.

‘Ron cheated on you, so why did you come here for the summer? Not that I don’t love having you around its just…well…’ Ginny was at a loss of words – I couldn’t blame her.

I sighed, and pushed my bangs back a bit, ‘Well I wanted to be with my friends for the summer, you and Harry and Luna. And I just don’t care what Ron thinks anymore, we aren’t friends anymore so that’s a little awkward but its not like I need to be supper friendship. And plus I had nowhere else to go – my parents are in Australia. So it was either be alone and pout or be a little awkward but with people that care about me.’

‘You could have gone to stay with Edmund.’ Ginny offered, if anyone else was having this conversation with Ginny they’d think she didn’t want them here but it was the exact opposite. Her curiosity always got the best of her, and she had to know what was going on and that was it – not meanness meant. It was amusing after everyone met Edmund instantly my story was believed. It was funny and hurtful a bit, because I wasn’t trusted with the truth in the first place – I had to have proof.

I smiled, ‘Yes, but I think Harry needs me right now.’

‘But this isn’t where you want to be, is it?’ Ginny said, a knowing smile coming across her face.

I blushed a bit and looked down, ‘I miss Edmund, so, so much, but I’m not going to let my friend suffer just to feed my want.’

‘Yes but—’

‘Girls get ready! The music is starting, Ginny stand up straight!’ Mrs. Weasley was in frantic mode, Ginny gave me one last smile before turning forward. The plan was simple, the bridesmaids came from one area while the groomsman came from another and we met in front of the isle to walk down. Ginny was paired with one of Bill’s friends, I had Harry, who wanted to be as far from Gabrielle as possible, and Gabrielle got Ron.

Ginny headed out and I counted to ten till I started behind her.

I was focused more so on my feet then who I was meeting in the middle, Fleur’s colors were periwinkle and white so of course the heels were white since the dress was periwinkle and me being a flats person was struggling to walk, but it was just Harry who I was meeting – and he knew what to do.

‘You look lovely.’ I took Harry’s arm and started to walk down – a fake smile plastered to my face.

‘Thanks Harry.’ I said quietly.

Harry laughed slightly and whispered in my ear, ‘Wrong, but I’ll give you a second guess if you want.’

My eyes squinted slightly but I kept my façade up until I turned to look at my escort.

‘That would be cheating if you got to look Hermione.’ Edmund said, smiling at me with his bright brown eyes.

I had to fight the urge not to fall into his arms, her he was – the guy I had been thinking about non stop, and I had mistaken him for Harry.

Wait a second, where was Harry?

We where just about to the alter when I turned slightly to Edmund, ‘Where is Harry?’

Edmund leaned down again, ‘He’s escorting Gabrielle.’

I looked back and sure enough, he was, I mouthed a thank you which Harry politely nodded too. I had to laugh a bit; Gabrielle was holding onto his arm for dear life and just staring at him like he was a Christmas present.

Edmund let go of my arm and went to stand next to the groom as I went to the bride. Our eyes were locked the entire ceremony, I couldn’t even tell you what was said during it for my thoughts where directed at a certain groomsman.

I had to smile when I looked at how he was dressed, his coat and trousers where black like his shoes, but he didn’t match the other groomsmen because he wore a simple white button down and a periwinkle tie instead of a bowtie.

Edmund turned from the ceremony to me and lifted his eyebrow, I smiled and looked down – embarrassed at being caught staring.

‘I now pronounce you husband and wife.’ The pastor said and the audience began to clap and throw petals – periwinkle and white of course.

Ginny took her groomsman’s arm and started down and soon I got to take Edmund’s.

‘So are you ready to be swept of your feet?’ Edmund whispered to me, ‘I’m a pretty good dancer.’

I smiled at him with a slight blush. Tonight was going to be perfect, but then my thoughts turned a little dark – until I’d have to say good bye to Edmund again.

Chapter 2: The Last Dance

‘Now the bride and groom would please like anyone else in love to come join them on their first dance.’ The announcer started up the music and couples. Harry stood up from our table and offered his hand to Luna, who took it with a blush.

Edmund smiled and stood up as well, ‘May I have this dance malady?’

I smiled and took his hand, ‘You may.’

We walked over to the dance floor and began to sway to the music. It was soft and slow, a perfect first dance.

‘This is a nice song.’ I said, leaning my head against his shoulder and closing my eyes..

‘It is.’ Edmund said, resting his head atop mine.

Times like theses where the world seemed to stop and it was only you and the other person where what seemed to make life worth living. But eventually fancy scripted The End would come the page and it would be over.

I closed my eyes and held tighter to Edmund, not wanting this to end.

A few tears budded in the corner of my eyes, I knew it was going to end – and the pain was going to go deeper with each time I had to stay good bye.

I opened my eyes slightly look around at those around me. Danger was all around us but in this one moment there was only love. Couples where close to each other – whispering nonsense that only made sense to the two of them, stolen kisses here and there and smiles.

They didn’t have to be separated from the one they loved when I had to be.

I couldn’t leave Harry alone right now, he needed me. I had to put what I wanted aside.

I looked over to him and Luna, nothing was official but everyone knew they were meant to be. Harry was playing it safe when it came to Luna; he knew we would have to leave soon to get the other Horcruxes, maybe even die to keep everyone safe.

But he knew how to enjoy the moment with Luna; he knew it would be up soon. Maybe for good. But taking a look at the boy you knew his heart belonged to the young witch, as did hers to him. And the other thing was, Luna understood what he had to do, and she was just living in the moment like he was. Neither of them knowing what could happen tomorrow.

I looked back up at Edmund, I knew what was to come as well but I didn’t want just this moment, I wanted a life time.

‘Hermione, what’s wrong?’ Edmund said, pulling back a bit to look at me with concerned eyes.

Tears started to fall as I blinked, I loved Edmund, so much, but I couldn’t take him down this path with me – especially if it meant he could be hurt. I didn’t want him hurt, I wanted him safe, and I needed my focus to finish my mission with Harry.

And I didn’t think I could handle another good bye.

‘I—can we ge-get away from all of this for a bit?’ I said, quietly to Edmund.

‘Sure, yeah.’ Edmund grabbed his jacket and was walked over to the porch, ‘Here.’ Edmund swung his jacket over my shoulders as we took a seat on the swing.

I smiled and pulled it closer around me.

‘So what is up Hermione?’ He asked again, wrapping one of his arms around me.

I didn’t want to cry, but I couldn’t hold the tears back, ‘I…I think we need to say good bye.’

Edmund shook his head slightly, confused, ‘What—what do you mean?’

I took a small breath, ‘Edmund it hurts, it really hurts when you leave. And—and I don’t think I can do this any more.’

‘Oh…’ Edmund shifted awkwardly, but didn’t take his arm away.

I sniffed, ‘Can you say anything more then that? Doesn’t it hurt you?’

‘Of course it does.’ Edmund moved his arm and took both of my hands into his, ‘But seeing you makes it worth it.’

I tried to smile through the tears, ‘War is coming. Families are going to be ripped apart, people will be killed – and…and Harry needs me. He needs me to focus and if I’m worried about you then I can’t help him.’

‘So what do you want? Do you want to break up?’ Edmund’s voice was hurt, but he kept his demeanor in a calm control.

‘I’m saying I want you safe. You should go back to your family, stay there then—then maybe if this is all over…’ My voice cracked and all I could do was stare down at our entwined hands.

‘Hermione, together we can do anything. We don’t need to—’

I pulled my hands back and stood up, ‘It hurts, it hurts so much when you leave. I—I can’t do that anymore. I-I know its selfish but-but, I don’t know. I can’t, I just—just can’t. I need this to be over. I don’t want a moment with you I want a full story.’ I turned to look back at him with my arms crossed. He was looking down at his hands, not knowing what to say.

‘I see.’ Was the only thing he could say? He stood up but kept his eyes down.

‘Edmund…’ I covered my face with my hands, trying to get myself to breathe.

‘Hermione, I love you. I love you, that’s never going to change. But if you want some time.’ He came over and took my hands, my eyes slowly lifted up to meet his, ‘Then that’s what you need. I want to be with you for a long, long time but if you can’t right now then I’ll wait.’

I shook my head, my mouth slightly open, ‘Edmund, that’s not fair to you.’

‘It’s what I want.’ His eyes where hard and determined, I couldn’t help but smile slightly, ‘I’m giving you what you want, just please, give me this. Let me wait, give me something to wait for.’

I laughed slightly, causing him to raise his eyebrows slightly, ‘We sound like those romance novels my Mum reads.’

Edmund’s smile broke across his face, ‘Then that’s what we are, as long as I’m with you I don’t care what we sound like.’

‘Shouldn’t I be the one begging for you to come back too? Isn’t that how those books usual work?’ I said, squeezing his hands slightly.

‘Oh well.’ Edmund said, smiling before he pulled me into a hug.

A crash sounded behind us and both of us turned to look. People where running in all different directions, most Apparating away.

‘Oh no.’ I covered my mouth.

‘What is it?’ Edmund said, coming to stand next to me, his stance protective.

‘They are here. I have to find Harry.’ I started to take off his jacket and hand it back when he shook his head and pushed it back to me.

‘Keep it, next time we are together you can return it.’ Edmund smiled and wrapped his hand behind my neck, ‘Come back to me safe my love.’ He kissed me on the forehead and nodded for me to go.

I smiled one last time and took off towards the tent, my wand at the ready.

‘Harry? Oh Harry where are you?’ I dodged people here and there until I finally spotted him, ‘Harry!’

Harry turned around and took of towards me, ‘I sent Luna with George, he said he’d take Edmund and her to safety for us to leave.’

I nodded and reached for Harry’s hand, ‘Ready?’

He nodded and with a turn we where gone.

Chapter 3: Alone

It had been a month since we left. Harry snored loudly in the tent; I smiled and turned back to the fire I had started. I poked at it with a stick and sighed.

I was still torn over my last talk with Edmund.

He asked me to let him wait, but what was he really waiting for?

Another rejection, a yes that I’m going to put my heart out on the line and watch it be taken with him back to Birmingham?

A small sob escaped my throat and I buried my head into hands.

‘Hermione?’ Harry said, I turned to look at him and smiled, his hair was just as tousled as always and his eyes were still clouded with sleep as he rubbed them, trying to become awake.

‘Hi Harry, I was just—’ Damn, I couldn’t lie to him even if I wanted too, I sighed in defeat and looked at him with teary eyes, ‘I miss him.’

Harry gave a small smile and came to sit by me, ‘I miss Luna. I guess we’re both in the same boat, we know what he have to do and we know what we want to do – but they aren’t exactly the same thing.’ He wrapped his arm around me and I rested my head on his shoulder, ‘When you love someone you stand by them no matter what. That’s what Luna and Edmund are doing – their waiting for us and we need to focus on the task right now.’

I smiled, Harry said like he had said that last line to himself thousands of times before – dropping the Edmund part though of course.

I grabbed Harry’s hand and gave it a tight squeeze, ‘Luna will wait for you forever Harry, that’s why you two will probably get married at the end of this whole hell thing.’

Harry laughed but made no gesture or sound to confirm or deny it. I bit my lip, trying not to smile to much because I knew with the smile would come tears.

I knew I was young but I also knew my heart – and my heart was telling me Edmund was the one I would always love, the one and only. But sometimes the heart didn’t always get what it wanted – sometimes you had to use your brain.

‘Edmund will do the same for you. He’ll wait for you then ask for your hand.’ He said, finishing his spell of laughter only to start another. I was taken aback and surly my face showed it.

I shook my head, ‘I told him not too, that it’s too hard when he just has to leave again. My heartbreaks more every time I have to say goodbye.’

Harry sighed and pulled me closer, ‘Well, maybe after this hell you won’t ever have to say goodbye anymore.’

Tears spilled out so quickly that I didn’t know what was happening till Harry gently wrapped his other arm around me.

My dream would was to be with Edmund forever, but would that ever actually come true?

XxX

Edmund paced, he didn’t know what else to do and so he had taken to pacing for the last month.

Hermione be safe was a thought that ran through his head every hour of the day – even in his dreams.

He couldn’t tell anyone but Peter what was going on, Susan had come as engrossed by her school as Lucy had started to be and his parents – well they lived in the adult Muggle world, no Narnia or Wizarding World there.

And even if Peter would understand he was away at school and Edmund didn’t much care for telephone conversations

Anyway, he didn’t want a female’s perspective or his brothers for that matter; he just wanted his Hermione back.

Edmund flew onto his bed and looked up at the ceiling of his room.

‘Edmund?’ Mrs. Pevensie knocked on the door and quickly peered her head in.

Edmund sat up and combed his hair down with his fingers, ‘Yes?’

‘There’s someone here to see you.’ Mrs. Pevensie opened the door to reveal a short blood girl with a piece of thin wood stuck behind her ear and radishes swinging from her earlobes.

Edmund smiled, his Mum looked at the girl with displeasure but left them to talk.

Edmund stood up and was quickly by the girl’s side, ‘Luna is there any news from Harry and Hermione?’

Luna smiled and her big dreaming blue eyes came up to meet his but she shook her head sadly, ‘No, I just wanted to come and see how you were holding up.’

Edmund sighed and ran his hand back through his once sort of brushed hair, if you count a hand as a brush, ‘I miss her.’

‘I miss him.’ Luna said, giving a smile that seemed as if nothing was wrong, ‘They’ll come back.’

Edmund bit his lip and leaned against his drawer, trying to hold back a mean retort. How would she know if they were going to be alright? It was a damn bloody war! No one was going to be alright, no one.

Luna tilted her head and gently reached out her hand to rest on top of Edmunds, ‘This hurt is very terrible, but I know they will be alright, I just know it.’

Edmund sighed and looked up, searching for the right words, ‘I just feel so-so—’

‘Alone?’ Luna offered.

Edmund pulled his hand back from Luna and started to rub his neck, ‘Yeah, I feel alone.’

‘You’re not. I’m here just like Harry is there for Hermione. We’ll get through this all together and then we will have a double wedding.’ Luna said – a playful sparkle in her eyes.

Edmund look taken a back, he’d never really thought of marriage before, he only ever thought of the now. Married, to Hermione? It wasn’t bad, just a new thought to him.

Edmund gave a small smirking smile, well that would solve Hermione’s problems of not wanting to say goodbye again.

But on the other hand they were just seventeen, barley adults in England.

They were in love though, couldn’t that conquer everything? Edmund imagined Peter’s face if he was to tell him that he, Edmund, his younger brother was getting married before Peter.

Edmund laughed lightly, it would be a very amusing face.

‘What’s so funny?’ Luna asked, tilting her head.

Edmund smiled but waved the question away with his hand, ‘Nothing, nothing at all. Do you want to go out for a bit Luna? I feel like I’ve been trapped in here for so long.’

Luna smiled and grabbed my arm, ‘I know just where to go.’

She twisted and all Edmund felt was the sensation of being squeezed through a tub seven sizes too small.

He slowly opened his brown-eyes to look at Luna who was in a fit of hysterics.

‘Oh if only you could see your face!’ She laughed, starting to take deeper breaths to calm herself down.

Edmund nodded, not really amused, and stood up straighter to look at where he was, ‘Um…Luna?’

‘Yes?’ The young witch said, dusting herself off.

‘Where are we?’ Edmund asked turning this way and that, it was a sight he had never seen before.

Luna laughed, ‘You aren’t in Birmingham any more, welcome to Diagon Alley!’

Chapter 4: Broken Hearts Across England
[View Online]  [Printer Friendly Version of This Chapter]

I yawned and stretched my arms as my eyes focused. It was early morning. There were still five more Horcruxes to find.

I rolled over, pulling the blanket with me and looked over to Harry who was still dead asleep.

I smiled, Harry reminded me of Edmund to a certain extent; tall, dark features with a friendly smile. But Harry was my friend, my brother, Edmund was my other half.

I tugged Edmund's jacket tighter around me and then pulled the blanket even tighter around me.

I hadn't taken it off since Harry and I had left, I just couldn't.

It was hard to say good by to Edmund, it was even harder to actually let him go.

I had to admit defeat, I love him completely and I wanted him to wait for me.

But just because it was what I wanted it didn't mean that was what would be best for him.

I sighed and turned over again, leaning over the bed I pulled out a small trinket box I liked to keep with me.

It was crafted of beautiful cherry wood – the same wood my room in Narnia had been made from – and the burnt crest of Narnia was set in the frame.

I had to smile, the lion reminded me of my two loves: Edmund and my magic, Narnia and Hogwarts. Two complete opposites, two worlds that I loved completely.

My fingers gently traced the lion as I tried to hold back the tears, I missed my safety nets.

The box opened with ease and I smiled at it's contents. A few pictures and my Narnian comb.

I pulled out the comb and fingered it with care. The tears started as I pulled back some of my hair and placed the comb gently in the twist.

Then there were the pictures; the one of Edmund and me in front of the Big Ben, the next of Edmund and I in a snowball fight, you could see Harry in the corner of the picture, laughing at us.

The last one was of us at Bill and Fleur's wedding. It was candid and I didn't even know about it till a couple days ago when Harry gave it to me, I had been moping about and he wanted to cheer me up.

The Edmund and Hermione were swaying from side to side just gazing at each other in love, once in a while Edmund would lean over and kiss the Hermione on the cheek, once in a while on the lips, but they continued to sway – never once letting go of the other.

Like I had done to my Edmund.

I placed the boxes contents back in and gently slid it back into its hiding place under my bed.

The tears still fell as I curled back into my bed, trying to relax myself with Harry's soft snores.

It didn't work, guilt filled my heart as I felt the pain of leaving Edmund. I hadn't even said I love you before I ran off.

What if I never got another chance to say I love you?

'Luna why did you bring me here?' Edmund said exasperated as he ran his hand through his tousled locks.

'I figured you needed to get out, what better way then to a favored place of the Wizarding World?' The young blonde said, bouncing from foot to foot.

Edmund sighed, he would never understand her logic – Harry was the only one that seemed to be able to do that.

'I'm not a wizard though Luna. Remember?' Edmund said, watching the girl as she started to skip around the cobblestone. Edmund ran both of his hands through his hair as he looked around at all who were staring at the two of them.

'She hit her head a bit to hard. It's already, we're heading to the hospital right now.' Edmund said, walking up to Luna and steering her away from the crowd by her shoulders, 'Come on Luna. The nice doctor is just around the corner.'

Edmund continued to lead Luna away from the crowd until they were well out of earshot, 'Get me out of here!'

'Relax Edmund, Hermione won't be coming back for a while – you should get to know her world before you ever ask her to marry you.' Luna said, grabbing Edmund's hand and starting to pull him down the street.

Edmund dug his heels into the ground stopping the young witch in her tracks, 'Wait, Luna, it's not like just after the war I'm going to get on my knees and propose or anything. We're barley adults!'

'Well, you never know. Sometimes life-threatening situations makes you feel like you shouldn't let anything escape by you. Like every day should be a new dare. Even if that means two eighteen year olds getting married!' Luna said, throwing her hands into the air, showing her enthusiasm.

Edmund rubbed the back of his neck and looked this way and that – people were starting to stare again.

'Fine!' Edmund said, exasperated as he pulled Luna's arms down, 'Fine, show me around just—just keep your hands down, ok? Can you do that?'

Luna's smile mirror that of a Cheshire cat's, 'Come on! Let's go!'

Luna grabbed Edmund's arm, and Edmund let the young girl pull him down the street – as onlookers stared.

I fingered the picture of Edmund and I dancing, tears starting to form in the corners of my eyes.

'Hermione?'

I hurriedly wiped my eyes and turned to face Harry.

'I think I know where to find the others. THe Horxcrues I mean.' Harry said, the Snitch Dumbledore gave him still in his hand.

I stood and walked over to Harry, 'There has to be at least—'

'Five. We have the locket,' Harry pulled out the locket and showed it to me – confirmation to me, and himself, that it was still safe, 'and I destroyed the book Second Year.'

'Now we just have to figure out the way to destroy the rest of them. We don't have any Basilisk fangs just lying around.' I tugged my hair back into a loose ponytail and sighed as I sat back down on my rock, 'So what do you think the others are?'

Harry came and sat down next to me, 'I think that four of them have something to do with the four houses. The locket is definitely Slytherin.'

'Well, I don't think he could have gotten a hold of anything Gryffindor, or at least I hope not. What about Ravenclaw and Hufflepuff? What could come from them?'

'The diadem.' Harry said after a while with the snap of his fingers, 'And...what was Helga holding in that portrait?'

Now I snapped my fingers, 'Her cup! And I bet I know who has one of those!'

Harry looked at me with a puzzled look.

I rolled my eyes and smiled, 'Who does...he...trust? I bet it would be a sign of honor for whoever they are to hold something important to him...even if they didn't know what it was. That's why Lucius so willingly gave away that stupid diary. He didn't know what it was!'

'Exactly!' Harry stood up and started to pace, 'I bet Bellatrix has something, remember Sirius saying something about a Black volt down in Gringotts!'

'I guess I know where we are going next, start out tomorrow morning?' I said, standing up and dusting myself off.

Harry nodded and looked out across the frozen pond, 'One step closer to getting back to Luna and Edmund.'

I nodded and held the picture tighter in my hand.

'We'll get out of this. I'll get you back to Edmund – I promise.' Harry said, setting his hand on top of my shoulder.

I placed my hand atop his, 'And I promise to get you back to Luna.'

We stood there for a long while, the tears warm against our cold faces, praying that we could keep our promises.

'HERMIONE! WAKE UP!'

I fit the floor with a dull thud and groaned as I sat up, rubbing my back, 'A simple, Hermione I need to she you something wouldn't have sufficed?'

'Not when I found a Horcrux!' Harry held out his hand, a gold ring with a very large red-stone set in it rested in his palm.

I grimaced and moved back a little, 'Harry, it—it's evil. Be careful.'

Harry rolled his eyes but smiled anyway, 'Relax Hermione. It just makes us a little crabby.'

'Harry, put it—just put it in my bag, ok?' I grabbed my bag and tossed it at him – the sight of it just made me sick. I was closer to Edmund, I was even closer to death.

'We need to get the cup today.' Harry said in a nonchalant voice as he stuffed the ring away.

'Yes, and—I have a plan.' I stood and walked over to one of the cupboards and opened the door.

'Will Polyjuice work?' Harry said.

I sighed, 'Let's pray it does.'

Harry sighed and gripped something in his pocket, 'Alright. I'll be right back, I just need some air.'

I was worried it was the ring but the ring was in the other pocket. I was close to asking him what it was but he disappeared out the flaps before I could.

Edmund woke up facing the window. It was pouring outside. He yawned and stretched before slowly tarting to get up.

He grimaced as he felt a sore muscle.

Diagon wasn't very busy at all, what with the war and everything, but being drug around by Luna sure could hurt one's shoulder.

Edmund moved his shoulder in a circle before yawning once again, 'Bloody witch was trying to kill me.'

'No I wasn't.'

Edmund turned and fell right onto the floor.

Edmund lifted his head from the floor to look right at Luna Lovegood, her arms crossed and her eyes a bit harsh, 'I just wanted to help.'

Edmund though she was going to hex him or whatever witches did when the looked bloody pissed.

Edmund sat up, rubbing his head, 'Yes, you were helpful, my shoulders just aren't in a very thankful mood. Was it necessary to scare me though? To get me up, that is.'

Luna smirked and held out a small note, 'I got this today, thought you might want to see it.'

Edmund took the note and started to read it:

My Dear Luna,

I miss you and I love you. We're safe. Tell Edmund if you can, Hermione misses him – a lot. She loves him, she's just too stubborn to admit it. We'll be home soon.

Harry

Edmund looked up at Luna, 'I thought they weren't suppose to contact us in anyway?'

Luna shrugged, 'It's very dangerous, and he shouldn't have, but I guess Harry needed to let us know.'

Edmund knew it was dangerous, but having Harry get him the message that Hermione loved him – well, it seemed worth it. Hope had started to fade over the past month, this made the hope stronger then ever.

'Can we...well, can we send one back?' Edmund asked shly.

'I don't think we should Ed,' Luna said, coming and kneeling next to Edmund, who had pulled his knees up and wrapped his arms around them 'I don't want anything to happen to either of them, and I know you want Hermione back safe. Its just to risky. And it hurts, so very much to not but we need to think of whats best. You know?'

Edmund nodded, barley hearing what she said. He was focused on what might happen to Hermione. He was not going to be the cause for that.

'I know.' Edmund said. Luna touched his arm and the two sat in silence for a while.

'Edmund, can you come down for a bit?' Mrs. Pevensie called.

'Coming Mum!' Edmund called, he turned to Luna with sad eyes, 'Luna...'

'I know, I miss them too.' Luna gave him a quick hug before standing and turning to Apparate away.

Edmund stood and headed towards the stairs – what could his Mum want to talk to him about?

The Polyjuice worked perfectly, we looked just like two goblins.

'Why do goblins smell so weird?' Harry asked from my side. We grew quiet and solemn as we walked past a few other goblins.

'Hey, it was better then being in the Ministry – it was just creepy in there.' I said, shuttering at the memory of having to go in there, the Polyjuice hadn't worked perfectly so Harry was iffy about using it this time. So far, so good though.

'There, a cart.' We hurried to it and pulled out our – well, the goblins we were pretending to be – and set off. Thankfully I had remembered the right curse to knock those goblins out for hours – no one should bother us anytime soon.

We got down stairs with no problems.

'Harry, something's wrong.' I said in my goblin voice as we stood outside the vault.

'There's been no problems!' Harry said back in his gargled voice.

'That's it. Something's wrong, it's too easy.' I said.

Harry opened the door with his card and we froze, 'Hermione, I found the problem you wanted.'

I nodded, 'You remember how to take down a dragon?'

The Dragon was huge and a dull white. He looked ragged and like he had lived here his whole life. Pity filled my heart.

Harry shook his head no, 'You got your wand?'

I pulled mine out, as Harry did as well.

'Split up, I'll get him to go after me. You grab the vault.' Harry said. I nodded. There was nothing else to do.

'Don't hurt him.' I said. Harry nodded.

'GO!' Harry took off and I flew towards the door. The card worked easy but a new problem showed itself.

There was not just one cup, but three.

'Oh great.' I felt the Polyjuice slowly starting to wear off, 'Better hurry.'

I looked out to see where Harry was. He was back to normal and doing pretty well.

I turned back to my own problem and began to think. Bad things always came in threes.

'Go with your gut.' I said, Peter, Edmund's brother, had adopted the saying and Edmund had trusted in it as well.

I closed my eyes and grabbed. Slowly I opened one then the other – nothing happened.

Then the ground started to shake.

'Must have gotten the right one.' I yelled and took out from the door, 'HARRY WE GOT TO GO!'

Harry nodded and headed towards the cart but rocks broke free and we were trapped.

'Apparate?' Harry grabbed my arm and turned.

I shook my head, 'It won't work.' I turned to the Dragon. He looked just as scared, if not more, then us.

'We can't leave him.' I said.

Harry sighed, 'Fine, try and get on then.'

The Dragon was so scared he probably didn't even notice we were on his back. Our spells broke his chains and we were up and out.

'Harry – I still hate flyyyyyyyyiiiiiinnnnngggg!' The Dragon flew at a top speed and before we knew it we were back in the forest. We slide off before he noticed us.

'Harry...He wouldn't have noticed us anyway. I think—I think he is blind!' I walked over. The Dragon's once blue eyes were cloudy, and he was trying to move away from the sunlight.

'Poor thing...maybe...' I started to walk towards him. Harry stood a good distance away.

'Hermione—'

Too late. I walked over to him, cooing slightly. He freaked a bit but once he figure out where I was he calmed slightly.

'Just...going to fix your eyes....' I pulled out my wand and started to climb up a tree.

Harry ran his hand threw his hair, 'What happened to Hermione? Oh she climbed a tree trying to help a Dragon that then proceeded to eat her! Yes, Edmund will just love to hear that!!'

I threw a spell and the Dragon screamed but he shook his head a second later – appearing to be alright.

I hopped down from the tree, 'See that didn't hurt anything!'

Harry stood pointing behind me with his mouth open.

I turned slowly. The Dragon stood with his teeth bared.

'Nice...Dragon...' I held up my hands.

The Dragon dropped to the ground, his head resting on his clawed hand and just looked at me.

Harry smirked, 'I think you made a new friend.'

I smiled, 'I think so too!'

'Dobby thinks so too!' Harry and I turned so fast we almost fell over.

'Dobby!' Harry yelled and ran over to the house elf, 'How did you find us?'

'Elf power. Dobby think you need this.' Dobby held out a sword. Harry gasped, I couldn't see it clearly – so the importance of it was lost on me a bit.

'It's made of simple steel – it won't help anything.' I said, crossing my arms and walking over to the two. The Dragon followed me.

Then I saw why it was important, 'The sword of Gryffindor!'

'Hermione, pull all of them out! Now!' Harry turned to me and helped me to start digging around in my purse.

Soon the locket, cup, and ring were placed in front of us.

'Oh, one more!' Dobby pulled out a diadem, 'Dobby find in Headmaster's office.'

Harry turned to me, 'Something from Ravenclaw.' Dobby placed the diadem next to the others.

I stood back as Harry took the sword up. He came down hard on each of them – hitting all of them with one blow. They screamed and shrieked, the Dragon didn't care for it to much and flew up to rest in the tree.

'Snake made that sound! Snake made that sound!' Dobby said, jumping up and pointing at the pile of ash.

'What snake Dobby?' Harry said, his voice really excited.

'His snake! Neville hit him with my sword! He went EEEEEEEEEEE!! Like the pile!' Dobby said, point at the pile again and jumping up and down.

Harry turned to me, 'The book, the ring, and cup.'

'Nagini, the diadem, and the locket. Harry that leaves one more.' I said, tears starting to well up. I figured it out.

'I want to see Luna before we go to Hogwarts.' Harry had already known.

I nodded, 'What are we going to do about him though?'

The Dragon still sat in the tree, eating some birds as they flew by.

I grimaced.

'Cinaed. It means born of fire. I guess he needs a home – Hagrid will love him once this is all over.' Harry said, reaching over and touching my hand, 'We're going home.'

I nodded, my throat was holding back a sob but my eyes had no problem letting the tears flow.

Harry whistled, 'Here Cinaed, come here Dragon.'

Cinaed drifted down from the tree. He let Harry easily get on and Harry grabbed my arm and pulled me up.

'Dobby, tell everyone we're coming back. They need to be ready.' Harry said, 'Thanks...for everything Dobby.'

'Dobby do anything for Harry Potter.' Dobby snapped his fingers and was gone.

'Ready Cinaed?'

I swear the Dragon nodded his head.

'Hold on Hermione!' Harry yelled as the Dragon shot up in the air.

My arms tightened around Harry's waist and I buried my head in his jacket.

Cinaed slowed down a bit once we got up high enough and I loosened my grip. I grew brave enough to look around – the sun was setting and the sky was painted with bright pinks and purples.

I sighed and smiled before leaning against Harry again, 'Edmund, I'm coming home.'

'Mum what is it?' Edmund said, hurrying down the last few steps.

Mrs. Pevensie sat at the head of the table, smiling a sad smile, 'Please Edmund, sit down.'

Edmund's heart plummeted, 'What—is Peter ok? Is Dad ok? The girls? Susan and Lucy?'

Mrs. Pevensie nodded but still tears came down, 'Everyone's fine...but—but you Ed.'

Edmund sat down confused, 'What's wrong with me? Have I done something wrong?'

'No, no, nothing is wrong, my dear.' Mrs. Pevensie said, taking her son's hand and giving it a lights squeeze, 'But this girl....'

'Hermione...' Edmund said. So it was about the odd, disappearing girl in his life.

'Yes, Hermione. You say she is off to school, correct?' Mrs. Pevensie said.

Edmund had hated lying to his Mum, but he couldn't say 'Oh, I want to this magical land called Narnia where I am King, and I met and fell in love with a sorceress that I use to hate with a passion because I almost destroyed Narnia because of an evil White Witch we once knew the first time we went to Narnia, don't worry no one got hurt in the first war but some magical creatures and...oh, I almost died but Lu saved me' could he?

Edmund sighed and continued to look at his Mum.

'She's important to you, correct?' His Mum was starting to grow slightly matter-of-fact, reminding Edmund of Hermione – which made him tense slightly.

'Yes.' Edmund said, trying to keep his voice simple.

'You're very young, Peter's not even serious about an girl.' She continued, her hands folded in front of her and her eyes on the table.

Edmund hated being compared to Peter. He was Edmund not Peter, he loved his older brother just hated being in his constantly growing shadow.

'I'm not Peter though.' Edmund said in as respectful of a voice as he could.

Mrs. Pevensie nodded, but remained silent.

Edmund didn't dare break the silence, there was something his Mum wanted to say – and she needed time to word it just right. She was the perfectionist of the family.

Instead of saying anything, all though, Mrs. Pevensie reached for a small box next to her hands. Edmund looked at the box confused, he hadn't noticed it.

She pushed the box towards him.

'What is it—' Edmund started.

'Just open it. Please.' Mrs. Pevensie gave Edmund a loving look and pushed the box closer.

Edmund took it and popped open the black-velvet top, 'It's a ring?'

Edmund picked it up carefully. It was a simple silver-ring with a very small opal in the center of it.

Mrs. Pevensie nodded, 'It was y grandmother's ring, making her your great grandmother. She was still alive when Peter was born, Susan too, but sadly you never got to meet her.'

Mrs. Pevensie reached across and picked up the ring, just looking at it, 'Gosh, she loved it and gave it to me when she died. She knew I had always loved looking at it. She told me to give it to which ever of my handsome boys fell in true-love first.'

Edmund looked at her confused, 'But you said I wasn't born yet—'

'I was pregnant with you, she was sure it was going to be another boy. Looks like she was right.' Mrs. Pevensie smiled and gently touched Edmund's head, 'Now you are grown, falling in love. And this Hermione...well, she is special—I don't know why, but even I can feel it. You really love her don't you?'

Edmund nodded, gently taking is Mum's hand, 'I really do.'

Mrs. Pevensie sighed and started to dab at her tears, 'Well, take the ring. In time, it will be useful, something else is going on more than you are telling me, I can feel that too. And—and all though you are young, I feel you are ready. You are eighteen and...and a man. Only you can tell what's best for you.'

At that time the dryer buzzed and Mrs. Pevensie excused herself to go take care of it.

Edmund picked up the ring and placed it back in the box before heading up to his room. Once there he sat at his desk and took the ring back out.

Smiling to himself he turned it this way and that, 'Opal. Funny, since that's Hermione's favorite. Maybe it is the right time.'

Edmund looked up out the window and sighed, something was shooting across the sky. A shooting star perhaps, but it wasn't going across the sky it was growing bigger as if flew closer to his house.

XxX

I was still attached to Harry's back as we came into England, 'How far?'

'Not very!' Harry called back to me, 'What are we going to do though, we can't let every Muggle out there see a Dragon flying over head!'

I looked up and a smile broke across my face, 'It's Edmund's house!' I was so excited I couldn't think of how I was suppose to answer Harry's question.

I could tell Harry was smiling, 'Fine, I'll drop you off on the roof.'

It was growing to Dusk so the Dragon did stand out a bit more, luckily no one seemed to be out and about.

Harry landed with a loud thud on the roof and I slid off Cinaed — forgetting my fear of heights for a second. Edmund's light was on – he was home, and I was here. The roof was slanted and I started to slide, adrenaline pumping through me.

'Hermione...' Harry called.

I stopped and look up to him with a smile, he was smiling back, 'Go ahead, I'll Apparate home!'

In a flash Harry was gone with Cinaed and I continued to slowly slide down the roof.

I landed on the sill with a dull thud and started to slide a bit – panic set it.

Then a hand was gripping my arm, 'I got you! I won't let go.'

I looked up into Edmund's face, his eyes bright and slightly-wet, 'Promise.'

Edmund pulled me in and into a hug, refusing to let me go.

I pulled back first, placing my hands on his face, just studying him, 'I missed you. So much.'

Edmund leaned down and kissed me, 'Not as much as I did.'

Tears started to bud in the corners of my eyes, 'I love you, only you, I'm so sorry I didn't say it last time I was scared and—'

Edmund shut me up with another kiss...and another.

I pulled back to breath and just look at him.

'Say it again.' Edmund said, kissing my forehead.

'I love you.' I said move to snuggle into his chest. Edmund's arms tightened around me, never wanting to let me go.

'I—I have your jacket.' I said, not knowing what else too.

Edmund smirked and ran his hand threw my messy hair, 'Only you would say that at a time like this.'

I nodded, the tears starting to spill.

Edmund kissed me again, 'Keep it, it looks better on you anyway. And...and...'

I looked up at Edmund, confused, 'And what?'

Edmund bit his lower lip nervously, 'I have one more thing for you.'

Edmund pulled back, moving towards his desk.

'Edmund?' I asked, turning back to look at him.

'Hermione I love you, Luna told me to take chances. I never want to let you go—I love you.' Edmund said, fiddling with something behind his back.

I smiled and moved closer to him, taking his free hand, 'I know that. I'm not going anywhere. Promise.'

'And I have a solution that will keep us together. Always.' Edmund pulled out a small box and opened it.

I couldn't help but gasp, 'Edmund...'

Edmund slowly knelt down, 'I know we're eighteen and all but, I love you, that's not going to change. I know it's cliche, I don't care, its you and me, it doesn't matter what everyone else thinks. I want to be with you, and you want to be with me.'

I cupped my hands in front of my mouth, for once at a loss of words.

'I don't want to be separated from you, ever. I want to fight besides my wife, I want to fight for my future with you. I want to keep you safe, and the things you care about safe. I will always be beside you – through thick and thin. This War is coming. And I won't be without you.' Edmund said, looking up to me for an answer.

I couldn't get my answer out so I held my left hand forward.

Edmund's smile grew larger then I had ever seen it before as he took the ring from the box and slipped it around my finger.

He stood up and pulled me into a kiss.

Finally words could come, 'Hermione Pevensie. I like the sound of that.'

Edmund nodded, 'And we can live where you want, and no kids until you've gotten what you want to accomplish in life and the wedding will be perfect for you and—'

I stopped him as I placed my hand on his cheek, 'As long as you are there, everything will be perfect.'

'Ahhh...how touching!' Edmund and I jumped as Peter walked in the room clapping.

'Bought time mate!' Peter came up and clapped a very surprised, yet happy, Edmund on the shoulder.

'Peter I thought—' Edmund started but couldn't come up with what to say.

'And miss this? Not a chance! Welcome to the family!' Peter walked up and drew me into a hug, 'So when's the big day?'

I looked at Edmund and he looked at me.

'Soon.' We said in unison, and all three of us broke out into laughter.

'I wish we could be in Narnia.' Edmund lay on his bed, I lay next to him – just listening to his heart beat.

'Why Narnia?' I asked, looking up to him. I knew he loved it there, but he couldn't choose when he went back and not. None of them could.

Peter lay sprawled on his bed looked up to us, 'It should be springtime there, everything in bloom and such. It would be a perfect place for the wedding.'

Edmund looked down to me and brushed his fingers through my hair, 'I promised you the perfect wedding.'

I smiled and snuggled closer to him, if that was possible, 'Our wedding. And you being there will be what makes it perfect. But anyway, you guys always go to Narnia by accident – there is no way of telling when you can go back.'

As I finished a rushing wind – sounding very similar to a lion roar – sounded.

Edmund and Peter both smiled from ear to ear.

'Aslan.' Peter said, he walked over to the window and threw it open. Wind came flying in, it seemed like an hour but was only a couple minutes.

Peter turned to Edmund and I, who were now on the edge of the bed staring at him.

'Hermione, who do you have to have at your wedding?' Peter asked, almost as if a plan had been told to him but not us.

'My parents are in Australia with wiped memories till the end of the war, so probably only Harry and Luna, with you and Edmund.' I said, sort of dumb struck.

Small, soft, pink and purple petals flew in from the window and started to swirl around us.

I looked this way and that, 'What is—'

Edmund took my hand and gave it a squeeze, 'We're going to Narnia.'

It was so sudden, such an unexpected thing for me to do. Me, Hermione Granger the planner and prefect was running away to get married. Actually, being taken away to be married to my Prince.

I laughed as the petals closed in around us and colors swirled by. I wasn't scared a bit.

Another roar sounded and the colors dissipated.

'Welcome Kings of Narnia.' The large Lion said.

Edmund and Peter started to laugh as they walked around.

'Ed, I was right! It's just in the middle of the season!!' Peter said walking around looking everywhere. Both boys were walking around as if they had never been here before.

'Hermione of Hogwarts Armeg is here to assist you. In your room you will find everything you need.' Aslan said to me, a large lionish smile on his face. Armeg came up to my side, smiling.

'Luna and Harry?' I asked, taking Edmund hand.

Aslan smiled, 'They will be here shortly. Best prepare now, Luna will be sent up when they arrive.'

I gave Edmund a quick kiss and went off with Armeg, a large smile across my face.

'Edmund, follow Peter. He will help to assist you.' I heard Aslan say before Armeg led me into the castle.

Edmund fidgeted with his coat awkwardly, 'Can you believe I'm getting married before you?'

Peter walked over smiling and helped Edmund fix his tie, 'Don't rub it in.' He said playfully.

'You found the perfect girl first is all, maybe Hermione has a sister.' Peter said playfully, moving to the mirror to fix his own tie.

A knock came on the door and Peter called for the person to enter.

Harry Potter stuck his head in, smiling, 'So Luna was left in charge of flowers. I have your boutiques. Sorry.'

'For what?' The two Kings asked in unison, taking a small step backwards.

Harry smiled and walked in.

'What are you wearing Harry?' Edmund asked. Harry wore a strange tux like outfit only the coat was very long with large sleeves.

'Its called a Wizarding Dress Robe. It's the wizards version of a suit basically.' Harry said, and pulled out two very odd colored roses, their tips were red then faded to orange in the middle and yellow at the end.

Peter burst out laughing, 'From all that I've heard of this Luna girl, those seem exactly what she'd pick!'

Peter helped Edmund put the his on and vice-verso.

'So you ready to marry our Hermione?' Harry said, clasping his hand on Edmund's shoulder.

Edmund smiled, 'Always.'

Luna played with my hair till she got it the way she wanted it, up with a few strands coming down with small baby's breath throughout it all and small crystals.

No makeup, I wouldn't allow them, Edmund loved me the way I was – why would I try and cover anything up. The hair was more so to please myself then him though. It was my little secret, Luna's and Armeg's too.

'Would you like to wear the Narnia crest?' Armeg asked, holding up a thin silver chain with the familiar black Narnian crest hanging from it. A small tear-drop opal hung from the bottom tip of the shield.

'Of course.' I said with a large smile.

Armeg walked up and placed it around my neck, 'It's perfect.'

'Well one more thing is needed.' We both turned to look at Luna.

Luna smiled a Cheshire cat smile, 'Your dress of course!' Luna held up my dress and I couldn't believe its beauty.

A simple strapless A-line with a beautiful beaded bodice, a sheer covering split and hung from under the bodice line – a silver piece of ribbon separated the bodice from the outflow of the dress.

'Thank you so much,' I took Armeg and Luna's hands and gave them a slight squeeze, 'What would I do without you two?'

'Nothing! Now come on, Edmund's waiting!' Luna said in her daydreamer’s voice, 'Besides its not like this will be your only wedding!'

I looked at Luna confused as I stepped into my dress.

Luna pulled my dress up and zipped it into place and scoffed, 'You are going to want a wedding with your parents and his there, and then also a double-wizarding wedding with Harry and I!!'

I laughed, 'I think I'll stick with one!'

Luna snorted, 'Not if I can help it.'

Armeg stepped in then, fixing everything to perfection, 'This is your wedding Hermione. The others will be confirmation to the world and such – this one is strictly about you and Edmund. Enjoy it.'

With that she handed me the colorful bouquet of sunset roses – as Luna called them – and we headed outside.

XxX

The sun was setting as we stepped outside, the stars were shinning and the garden was swaying in the warm-breeze.

All I saw was Edmund though.

Edmund took my hand as I came up to him and he smiled.

I smiled up to him before we turned back to Aslan.

'Today is an important day, the day these two make a promise to keep forever. People will accuse you of being to young, naïve for the promise you are making, but only you two are the ones that truly know how you feel. And you two are smarter then most adults are.'

Edmund gave a small laugh and squeezed my hand.

'Edmund do you swear to love, honor, and cherish Hermione. Caring for her when its hard, protecting her always, and trusting her with your whole heart.' Aslan said, not taking his eyes from Edmund. Edmund looked as serious had he ever had before.

Edmund looked to me, his eyes swearing that he would always do what he promised, 'I do.'

Aslan turned to me next, 'Hermione, do you swear to love, honor, and cherish Edmund. Caring for him when its hard, standing by him always, and trusting him with your whole heart.'

I looked up to Edmund, tears starting to sparkle in my eyes, 'I do.'

'May what as been promised here today never be broken by anyone. You may kiss your bride King Edmund.'

Edmund leaned down and kissed me. I heard all of the clapping but all I could think was of the love I had for the man standing right in front of me.

'Aye, so whose next?' Peter called, getting a round of laughs.

I saw Harry look to Luna, and I smiled, 'What about you two?'

Luna shook her had, 'Tomorrow. Tonight is your night.'

'The honeymoon will have to wait though, you two.' Harry said, 'We have some planning to do.'

Peter turned to Harry, 'We can wait a night Harry. Edmund and Hermione deserve one night alone together.'

I couldn't help but blush.

Armeg walked up and bowed slightly, 'I have a room prepared, follow me if you like. I will serve dinner to you later.'

Edmund took my arm and we followed, Peter whistled and Edmund threw a mock-glare over towards his brother.

But I could see the blush that started to form.

XxX

Dinner was perfect and we lay on the bed just talking, we had so much to catch up on. We had been apart for what seemed an eternity, but our love was still strong.

I sighed, getting up the courage to say what I wanted to next, 'Edmund?'

'Hum?' He mumbled into my hair, gently stroking my temple.

I leaned up on my elbows to look at him, 'I think we should wait.'

Edmund looked at me confused, 'Wait for what?'

I blushed and bit my lower lip. Edmund's eyes grew and he got my meaning.

'Oh, on that.' He ran a hand nervously through his hair as he looked up to me. The color in his eyes sparkled in the firelight.

I sighed, not wanting him to take it the wrong way, 'I love you. And I want to be with you, but...'—I took his hand, and kept my eyes there—'...there is war. I don't want to admit it but there is war. I want to be able to enjoy our time together, not rush everything.'

Edmund stayed quiet in thought, making me think he was upset.

'Are you mad?' I asked pulling back slightly to look at him.

Edmund looked up at me confused, 'Mad?'

He pulled me closer to him and kissed my forehead, 'Not at all, I agree. And also, what if something was to happen to me? What if you were pregnant and left alone?'

I bit my lower lip, that was another reason in my head.

Edmund laughed, 'That was another reason, wasn't it? You are to easy to read my love. Well, I do agree with your reasoning full-heartedly.'

I smiled and buried my head into his shoulder, 'So you are alright with waiting?'

Edmund nodded, 'Yes, and actually we have two honeymoons to look forward to anyway!'

I looked up to him, eyes wide, 'Luna got to you too?'

Edmund let out a loud, resounding laugh, 'Sort of, she used Harry. So one for our normal parents and one for our magical friends?'

I nodded and laughed along with him.

'Ahh, well, we best get some sleep love. Tomorrow reality sets in, tonight, let us just enjoy the presence of one another.' Edmund pulled up the covers and snuggled me closer to him.

'I love you, so very much.' I said, kissing his arm.

Edmund continued to play with my hair, 'I know. I love you more my beautiful bride.'

It felt like this was where I was suppose to be my entire life, like this was where I knew I was always going to be forever more.

'Never leave me. Please don't.' I whispered, I thought he was already asleep so I curled in closer, not expecting a response.

'I won't as long as you never leave me.' Edmund whispered back, I smiled and almost instantly was asleep

Chapter 8: Going To Luna's

'Are you ready to return?' Aslan said to the five of us. Edmund stood holding my hand with one of his while the other gripped tightly to his sword. Peter stood holding his sword as well. They weren't wizards and needed a way to protect themselves, it made me nervous thinking they were going to fight, but, then, knowing Harry and Luna and so many others I cared about were going to fight as well made me even more nervous.

Peter buckled his sword around his hips and looked up to Aslan, 'We are.'

The roar sounded from Aslan's mouth and the petals started to swirl around us. I was less amazed then last time, because nothing good was going to happen when we got back home.

Within seconds we were all at Luna's house.

Peter looked around, 'It must be the next day. The sun is starting to rise.'

Peter was right, the sun was coming over the horizon shooting off bright gold and crimson in every direction.

'It's going to be a good day for a wedding!' Luna said, skipping towards her house, pulling Harry along with her.

I smiled and turned to give Edmund a quick kiss, 'I'll need to go help her. I love you.'

Edmund pulled me into a closer kiss, 'I love you.'

I grudgingly let go of his hand and was off to help Luna for her day.

XxX

Luna's hair flowed down her back, white flowers twisted into some of the wavy-curls. Her dress fit her perfecting, physically and personality. The dark-emerald green dress was a corset-dress which fell straight down into a pool of sorts. There wasn't any beading just a simple black lace around the bodice and skirt of the dress.

It went perfectly with Harry's green dress-robes. Peter and Edmund stood in Narnian garb since there were no other dress robes, I had to borrow one of Luna's dressed so that I wouldn't have to wear jeans to the wedding.

It was funny how Edmund and I matched even now, it reminded me of the first time we were in Narnia together. My dress was white and simple like Edmund's tunic. And my shoes were a dark tan color which Edmund's pants were, his black boats were the only off thing. Peter was dressed much the same except that he had placed a leather vest over his tunic.

What was even more funny was that usually the bride was to wear white, not the bridesmaid.

'You may now kiss my daughter!' Mr. Lovegood said. It surprised me that he was allowed to marry people – but then again, Edmund and I were married by a lion.

Harry kissed Luna and I couldn't help but look at them with adoration. Harry deserved this, and Luna was just perfect. I couldn't help but to be happy for them!

Edmund swung me around, getting a small squeak our of me in surprise, and kissed me.

'Scare you?' Edmund asked as he pulled back with a smirk.

'No,' I said, wrapping my arms around his neck, 'I just like squeaking.'

Edmund smiled and pulled back to clap as Luna and Harry pulled back to look at us.

Luna held up her odd bouquet – flowers which Aslan had let her take from Narnia because she was just in love with them, 'One down one more to go! Two for Hermione!'

I blushed and pulled to hide in Edmund's shoulder with a slight groan. He wrapped his arms around me with a smile and kissed the top of my head, 'Everything will work out. I promise. Everything will.'

Somehow I couldn’t just take his meaning for the weddings that were to come, the words seemed to be for everything reality was throwing us right now.

XxX

Peter, Edmund and I had to share the guest room while Harry and Luna took hers.

'You two can take the bed.' Peter said taking a pillow and blanket from the corner and making a make-shift bed on the floor before looking up to us with a devilish smile, 'Don't do anything that I will have to hear please.'

I scoffed and threw a pillow at him, my face blushing three shades.

Peter caught it and looked up to me with a smile, 'Thanks Hermione, I needed another pillow.'

Edmund pulled me into his arms, 'Down Hermione.'

I smiled and snuggled into his arm, 'Night Edmund.'

Edmund gave me a kiss on the top of my head, 'Night Hermione.'

'Oy what about me?' Peter called from the floor.

I pulled my wand from the side table and flicked it, a book fell off the trunk and...

'OW! What was that for?'

Edmund and I broke out into laughter as Peter sat up rubbing his tousled mess with a look only a mad three year old would give.

'Night Peter.' I said with a small wave before reaching over and turning the lamp off.

'Yeah...yeah...'

I fell asleep in the arms of the one I love completely, knowing that, for tonight at least, all those closest to me were safe.

'Hermione, my love, wake up.' Edmund said, kissing the top of my head.

I rolled over and groaned, 'Five more minutes.'

'No, now, we're leaving for Hogwarts in an hour or so.'

I shut my eyes tighter against reality. I didn't want to wake up and have to go to war. To possibly loose those I love, to possibly loose Edmund.

'Peter, come on get up. Why am I the only one that is up? Not even Harry and Luna are up!' Edmund said. See, usually Edmund was the one to sleep in late – I'd soon realize that he was the kind that when he was nervous or worried that he'd be getting up early and expect everyone else to be up as well.

'Well...it's sort of understandable why Harry and Luna would sleep in—' Peter said with a joking grin as he sat up. His hair was practically standing on end in a tousled mess – he must have been pretty restless last night.

My hair couldn't have looked any better. All of us were restless for what May 2, 1998 would bring.

'Breakfast!' I heard Luna's Da call from downstairs.

We all pulled ourselves out of bed and headed towards the kitchen.

Harry sat at the table, his hair a mess and his eyes sleepy, Luna looked perfect however. Her normal daydreamer self like always.

'So, how are we going to get to Hogwarts?' I asked, taking a small bite of toast.

'Through Hogsmeade.' Harry said, pushing his glasses up as he rubbed his eyes, 'I think there is a way in through The Hogs Head Inn.'

I scrunched my nose, I had hated that place back in fifth year and I wasn't looking forward to returning to it.

'Let's be ready to go in half an hour. I'm ready for all of this just to be done.' Harry stood from the table and walked back towards the stairs.

'Harry...' Luna's voice was sad but her smile never left. She was going to be the brave one, the light to each of our dark worlds no matter what she was going through. She was good at that.

'I'll be right back.' Luna said in her light voice and headed up after Harry.

Edmund wrapped his arm around me and kissed me on the head, 'Everything will be alright love. I promise.'

'Yeah, I guess.' I said, staring at the place Harry and Luna had just been.

But no, nothing was going to be alright.

Harry was the chosen one. And that meant him having to give up his life so that all of us could live.

XxX

We each POPPED! as we entered Hogsmeade.

'We need to be very quiet.' Harry said. He threw his invisible cloak over Luna and him and gestured for me to come under with them.

I shook my head, 'I have my cloak, I'll be fine. Besides, Edmund and Peter need to be able to follow someone that they can actually see.'

Harry gave one nod before disappearing completely.

The Hog's Head was easy to fine, what was harder was finding the owner.

'Hello?' Harry called, pulling the cloak off of him but leaving it partially on Luna.

I couldn't help but smile, he was so protective over her and she of him. That was why they were perfect together – you couldn't have one without the other. The one who hopes and the one who doubts, the one who loves and the one who fights.

'Aye, what is all the racket?' A gruff voice called.

A very old man came out, his hair was white and long but his eyes were youthful and sad.

'What do ye want?' He asked. Clearly we weren't wanted here.

'Please, Alberforth?' Harry asked, testing to make sure the name was right for the man.

The guy nodded, 'Aye, who be asking?'

'I saw your eye in my mirror.' Harry said, holding up a piece of glass for the mirror Sirius had given him back in fifth year, 'I know you can help us. We need to get to Hogwarts.'

The man's eyes grew wide with understanding and he walked over to a portrait of a young girl. He whispered something to her and she disappeared, in almost a blink of an eye she was back.

'He is coming Alberforth.' The girl said in a small voice.

Alberforth nodded and proceeded to open the frame. Inside lay a passage way with a dark silhouette walking down it towards us.

'Neville?' Harry said in disbelieve.

'Neville!' Luna called and rushed forward to give him a hug.

It was understandable that the old Neville was unrecognizable considering his face was very much swollen and bruised.

'Aye, it's good to see you too Luna! But what's this on your finger?' Neville said, holding up her left hand.

Luna smiled and turned to Harry, who looked back with so much love in his eyes no explanation was needed for Neville.

'Congrats! Congrats!' Neville said, moving to shake Harry's hand.

'Thanks Neville.' Harry said but he turned to gesture to Edmund and I – who stood holding hands a bit sheepishly, 'But congrats should go to these to as well!!'

Neville's face brightened even more, 'I'm so happy for you all!'

'Thanks.' I said.

'Might I require as to who he is though?' Neville said, his smile never once leaving his face. I was surprised at how much he could smile considering all the horror that was around us.

'Edmund Pevensie. I believe we met at Bill and Fleur's wedding.' Edmund stepped forward and shook hands with Neville.

'Congrats! Congrats!' Neville said, 'This is the best news I had heard in a while. Especially for you Harry, we all thought you were dead!'

Harry shook his head but his expression grew more serious, 'No, but I am ready for this all to be over.'

'Aye, me too, me too. So follow me. The quicker we get to Hogwarts the sooner this hell will be over!' Neville said.

Edmund took my hand before I could start down the passage and he pulled me into a quick kiss, 'I love you, you know that, right?'

I nodded and gave him a sweet kiss back, 'And I love you. But let's not say good bye.'

Edmund nodded and took my hand – he stepped first into the tunnel. I could see his Narnian side starting to come out. It was sappy but it was almost as if I was his Queen and he would do anything to keep me safe.

I could feel Edmund tense even though he only held my hand. He was on his guard and he was being protective over his Queen. I smiled, if only I could find a way to make him feel as protective and as loved as he made me feel right now.

I made a promise right then and there that I would find a way to show him how much I love him – no matter the price.

Chapter 10: By My Side

Edmund and I were the last ones to come out of the portal. Whispers of Harry where running all across the room.

'Harry?' Ginny said, her eyes hopeful. She saw Luna and Harry's hand together, however, and her eyes instantly grew sad.

I couldn't help but feel a bit bad for her, she was my friend of sorts – even if her brother was a real bloody prick. Right now, Ron sat in a corner, looking very mad, with that little sex-kitten right by his side petting his arm.

'Luna, oh it's Luna!' Seamus called pushing to the front of the group and running to hug the small Ravenclaw. I turned to Edmund, a look of surprise was on both of our faces.

I had to smile, 'So I know why Seamus being excited to see Luna is odd, but why are you looking all confused?'

Edmund simply shrugged and pulled me into a hug, 'Aye, probably because I'm a simple 'Muggle' in a school full of hugging wizards!'

I wiggled a bit free to look around, everyone did seem to be hugging on another.

And why shouldn't they? Their leader was back!

'So what is the plan Harry?' Neville said, moving to stand in front of the Boy-Who-Lived.

Harry ran his hand through his hair and looked to everyone, 'We fight. And we don't let Voldomort win!'

A great cheer went up around the room. 'For Hogwarts!'

Harry started to break everyone into little groups, giving them each a part of Hogwarts to move too. Everyone nodded, happy to finally have a strong leadership.

All though, Neville did seem to do an excellent job in Harry's place—I admitted quietly to himself.

Everyone started to move quietly from the room and I did as well but I stopped when I saw Harry giving Luna something. She drank it and gave him a kiss before handing it back.

I tilted my head, Harry turned this way and that—looking for someone.

Then his eyes rested on me, 'Hermione, come here, bring Edmund too!' Harry motioned for me to come.

I pulled on Edmund's sleeve, he stopped and gave me a confused look but followed me back anyway.

'What is it Harry?' I asked, looking to the vial he held hidden in his hand.

Harry smiled and revealed the tiny glass bottle which held just a small portion of bright gold liquid.

'Felix Felicis!' I whispered. Harry offered it to me and I quickly took it, just looking at the beauty of the potion.

'Felix what?' Edmund asked, I handed him the bottle and looked back up to Harry.

'It's liquid luck, its a potion to gave the user a perfect day pretty much!' I said.

'Oh...' Edmund said, but I could tell he was still confused as he handed me the glass bottle back.

'I think it should work on Edmund as well, now hurry up and finish you two!' Harry said, ushering for us to hurry.

I took a small swig and handed the bottle to Edmund who looked at it like it was Romeo's poison.

I sighed and rolled my eyes, 'Please, just drink it? It won't harm you...the worse that would happen is that it j-just doesn't work on it.' I tried to say it matter of fact but my emotions caught up with me. Oh please, oh please let it work!

Edmund took the last sip, there was only one left, before handing the vial back to Harry, 'Wow, that actually tasted good.'

Harry smiled and pocket the bottle, 'Good! It's suppose to. That probably means it will work for you!'

Edmund nodded and took my hand as he smiled down on me.

'So you two take the far wing, Luna and I are going to go help Seamus and Ernie!' Harry said, before starting to run off.

'Luna, why was Seamus so happy to see you?' I asked as we ran out behind them.

Luna gave a laugh, 'Turns out we are closely related—we're cousins! We had tea over break last year!'

I smiled and rolled my eyes, 'Leave it to you to find something good in this messed up world!'

Luna turned back to look at me as she ran, 'I'm not the only one Hermione!' She threw her glance to Edmund then me before rounding the corner and following Harry.

I looked up to Edmund, 'Touche. But she is right. Are you ready?'

We were literary in a full run now, my wand was gripped tightly in my hand and Edmund had unsheathed his sword.

'With you by my side, always!' Edmund called as we rounded our corner.

We stopped when we came to wing, now all he had to do was wait. Harry had said his name, he would be here soon.

The doors started to bang as if someone was trying to ram it in.

Edmund quickly took my hand and pulled me into a kiss, 'I love you, only you—do know that.'

I gently touched his face with my hand, 'As I do you.'

We pulled apart and assumed our positions. We would always love each other, but now wasn't the time to give into the lover side—now was the time to fight.

Before I knew what was happening the battle was heated. I was terrified and running on the thrill of adrenaline at the same time.

Split second decisions became my one and only nature. Nothing else seemed to matter but self preservation. It sort of scared me at such a harsh instinct.

I didn't know if minutes had passed or hours, I just simply kept going.

'Hermione! Watch out!' Edmund called, I turned just in time to deflect a curse.

I turned around to see Edmund's sword run straight through a Death Eater, whose mask fell – revealing Lucius Malfoy.

A small gasped escaped my throat but I didn't let it affect me. We all knew he was one, just to see someone you actually know die shocked me a bit – my logical reason started to come back to me then.

There was a cause I was fighting for, one of those being to keep Edmund safe.

I was shocked as I turned back to the fight, all of the Death Eaters were...leaving?

More like running. A cheer of victory went up but I remained silent. I just knew it couldn't be over. Edmund came over to me, he must have agreed because he remained as quiet as death.

Then suddenly his voice was heard, 'Surrender Harry Potter and you will all live! You have one hour!'

And then all was quiet again.

I couldn't help it, the tears started, and I moved into Edmund's awaiting arms. I dropped my wand by his sword and just pushed as far into his comforting arms as I could get.

'I k-know w-what he has...has t-to do..b-but...but...' I couldn't get the words out.

Harry would die.

And the tears grew worse.

I pulled my head away from Edmund to look around. Almost instantly my eyes caught sight of Luna, stumbling a bit.

'Luna!' I yelled, and sprinted towards her.

Luna looked up, she looked confused, 'H-Harry?'

I shook my head and pulled her to me, 'I haven't seen him but—but—'

'I wish I could see him one last time.' Luna said, matter of face. I pulled back and smiled. Luna was always so calm and collected, but the tears rolling from her eyes told me she was screaming and hurt on the inside.

'I know, I know...' I pushed back her hair and kissed her forehead, a mothering gesture I knew she needed.

Edmund walked up, holding his sword and my wand, 'Hermione, don't be without this!'

His voice was harsh and commanding, I looked into his eyes – slightly annoyed at being told what to do – but stopped when I saw the love and hurt coming from his own eyes.

The one way I could show him how much I loved him was by keeping myself safe for him, by listening to what he told me to do. He couldn't loose me his eyes screamed at me.

I simply nodded and took my wand, 'Thank you.'

Edmund moved and kissed my forehead, 'I'm going to go help Arthur and Xenophilius.'

He didn't need to tell me he was going to go help collect the dead. I nodded, the tears gently falling from my eyes.

He gave me one last kiss before moving away from Luna and me.

I turned and saw Molly, she was walking around looking hurt and confused.

'Molly?' I asked. She looked up at my voice, fear coated her eyes. She relaxed when she saw it was just me.

'This wasn't suppose to happen again. I thought it was over. It never was.' Molly said, her voice broken – probably like her spirit.

She had been living in denial for so long. This was the curtain being pulled away from her eyes.

'I-is everyone a-accounted for?' I couldn't bring myself to say alive.

Molly nodded, 'Y-yes, I believe so.'

'Molly I-I can't find Ron!' Arthur said, running over in a blind panic.

Molly's hand flew to her mouth and tears started.

Even I couldn't help the small twinge of pain that shot through me. Luna moved to bury her head into my shoulder. Death really wasn't something a Dreamer should ever face.

I gently rubbed circles on her back and I cooed soft words to her.

'W-we f-found him.' The twins walked up, sorrow just seemed to pour off of them.

Molly's mourning grew louder, Arthur pulled her into his arms and gently brushed her hair with his hand.

Tears started to fall from my eyes as well. I never was close to Ron after what he had done to me, it was something I could never forgive him for – even now. But I was still sad at his untimely death.

Edmund came running back, holding his sword in the sheath, Oliver Wood was right on his tail.

'Come quick, ye 'ave to come now!' Oliver said, his Scottish Brogue getting thicker with stress.

Edmund came to my side and pulled both Luna and I into his arms, 'You two don't need too though.'

Luna pushed back, tears and sorrow coming from her eyes, 'I-I n-need to s-see h-him. I n-need to see m-my H-Harry.'

Edmund nodded and took her hand, giving her a quick squeeze, 'Alright, Hermione?'

I knew he didn't want me to go, to see the horror that awaited us, but I also knew he needed me to be there for him just as much as I needed him to be there for me. Harry and Edmund had grown close over the past week. They were almost like brothers, it would be just as hard for him to look onto Harry's dead body as it would be for me.

'I'll go.' I said, taking Luna's other hand.

The three of us made our way to the front of the castle. The doors were open and crying could be heard from every corner of the castle as news spread.

Harry Potter was dead.

Luna tightened her grip on my hand as we made our way outside. Harry's body lay on the ground next to a teary Hagrid.

Luna couldn't keep calm anymore, a cry ripped through her throat and she moved into Edmund's comforting arms. I moved next to her and started my routine again, rubbing circles in her back and murmuring words of nonsense that I didn't even believe in but she needed to hear.

I looked back to where Harry's corpse was, and then something happened that I couldn't believe.

Harry opened his eyes and winked at me before disappearing.

'He's gone!' I said without thinking, I turned back to Edmund and Luna whose attention was now fully on me, 'Harry's gone! And he winked at me!'

Everyone looked to where Harry had once laid and whispers started up again.

'For Hogwarts!' The cry went up, I moved from Luna and pulled out my wand, joining in the cheer.

'For Hogwarts!' I turned to look at Edmund and Luna, Luna's face was still stained with painful tears but her wand was at the ready just like mine and Edmund's Narnian sword.

'For Hogwarts!' And then we rushed the cloaked figures. This would desided the end, whether we lived or not.

But no matter what happened, I wouldn't go down without a fight and I wouldn't go down without Edmund by my side.

The next hours were a blur. I didn't feel like me fighting. I was a completely different person. I had to be. I didn't care about the Death Eaters I killed, I had to forget that they were human.

This was a war. Emotions weren't allowed. We had to win. That was it. Period.

'Hermione watch out!' Edmund called, his sword ran someone through as he yelled. He was too good at multitasking. Part of me wanted to go to him, care for him, because I knew he couldn't like this any more then I did. But we had to set ourselves aside, our morals in a way, so that we could make a better tomorrow.

The thought made me sick, but I kept going. I blocked the hex Edmund had warned me about and set about as the emotionless killing robot once more.

And then...it was done.

It shocked me a bit how quickly the air grew silent.

'Edmund?' I said, barley above a whisper. Still, he heard me and was by my side in an instant.

'Yes love?' He asked, taking my hand.

'I-is it o-over?' I asked. Edmund gave my hand a slight squeeze before kissing the top of my head.

'Almost.' He whispered. I looked up to him confused and he gave me a sad smile, 'We need to go find Harry.'

Realization dawned on me and we were off in search of the Boy-Who-Lived.

We rushed into the Great Hall and instantly Luna was curled into my side, 'Hermione...I-I c-can't loose h-him again!'

I gently shhed the girl and held her head to my shoulder, 'You won't.'

I look to Edmund and he moves to wrap his arms around, protectively, the two of us.

Luna refused to look up, not like she could even see with all the tears in her eye though. I couldn't keep my eyes away and Edmund let his head rest against mine.

Harry and Voldomort where facing off. Just the two of them.

I closed my eyes taking a small breath, there was nothing I could do this time. This was Harry's fight and none of my book knowledgeable could possibly help him now.

I felt so stupid and useless and...well...truly worthless.

'Edmund...' I took in a sharp breath and my side erupted in pain. I barley remember falling but either way I ended up on the ground, looking up to Edmund who was kneeling next to me – his face was panic struck.

'Hermione? Come on, Hermione wake up. Come on...love come on...' I had never seen him loose control of his emotions so easily. His eyes were just filling with worry and panicked tears.

I made a move towards his hand, my world was growing fuzzy and dark and I wanted to let him know I was going to be alright but then everything went dark.

My eyes fluttered and I was aware of a touching running across my temple. My eyes didn't have to be open to figure out who it was, 'Edmund...'

I sighed and leaned into his touch before opening my eyes, 'I love you.'

'Don't. Do. That. To. Me. Again.' Edmund's eyes were hurt and angry, but there was still love in them.

I sighed and gently touched his face, 'I promise.' I turned my head to look around, all of Hogwarts was together and rejoicing, 'We won?'

Edmund nodded but remained quiet, just stroking my hair back.

'Harry?' I noticed for the first time how dry my lips were, my bottom one cracked and I could just barley taste the blood.

'Him and Luna are having some time together. Luna was so worried about you but I told her to go see Harry. She was close to hysterics when you fell and then Harry was still dueling. I barley knew what to do.' Edmund said, he sounded almost out of breath.

'What's wrong Edmund?' I asked, sitting up, he didn't sound right.

Edmund winced as I sat up, 'I think I hurt my lung I think. I don't know what I did.'

It was my turn to freak out, 'Lay down...I—I'll g-go get Madame P-Pomfrey.' I start to move but stop with a gasp, 'What's wrong with my side?' I was frantic now, I was hurt meaning I couldn't get Edmund the help he needed.

'You got stabbed by a Death Eater, they were trying to take you.' Edmund explained, pushing me to lay back down.

'I didn't see anyone though.' I said, relenting and laying down.

'They were standing about twenty feet away.' Edmund explained, pulling my shirt up to reveal the wound, 'It's not too bad though.' He replaced my shirt and gently kissed my forehead, wince again at his own pain, 'Someone hexed him then I ran him through with my sword after Luna took over looking out for you.'

I nodded, the darkness coming back and looking so comforting, if I could just be unconscious then I could wake up and everything would be—no, I had to get Edmund help.

I sat up and pushed Edmund's hand away as I stood.

'Hermione!' He snapped, obviously not wanting me to move. Luckily, he couldn't move because of his lung.

I limped a bit, feeling the knife cut with every step, but I kept going.

'M-Madame Pomfrey?' I asked Seamus, who sat holding Dean's hand. The two of them were best friends and my heart went out to them. Seamus shook his head though and I continued on my way.

'Molly!' I called. Molly Weasley turned to face me and was by my side in and instant.

'What is it dear?' She asked, moving to lift my shirt up. She let out a slight gasp.

'No...no, not me you need to look at Edmund—his lung is—'

'We need to take care of this now! Fred! George! Take Hermione to the Hospital Wing!' Molly called over her shoulder, the twins looked up and nodded.

'No!' No one was listening, how was I going to get Edmund help!, 'You need to go look at E-Edmund! Now, he's seriously hurt!'

George picked me up like I was nothing, Fred was in charge of keeping me still as I tried to get free.

'E-Edmund!' I don't know if it was a scream or a whisper but the tears came with it.

'Edmund! Oh Edmund!' I was taken from the room where my beloved lay, hurt probably worse then me.

And once again, I was useless.

I must have blacked out on the way to the hospital because I woke up in a bed, all bandaged and pain free.

Magic was amazing sometimes.

Then it dawned on me.

'Edmund!' I shot out of bed, thankful for the pain medication.

'Shh deary, he is alright, he's asleep right over there. Molly when to take care of him, that's why she had Fred and George bring you here.' Madame Pomfrey said gently, she gently pushed me back down telling me to rest.

I laid back down, but grudgingly. I wanted Edmund here not over there.

'Edmund...' I whispered, and tears were warm as they fell down my cheek.

'Hermione!' Harry came bursting in the room, breaking my train of thought, 'I came once I heard. I'm sorry I didn't come earlier there was so much going on—'

I smiled, Harry was back to his old self, 'It's fine Harry, really, how's Luna?'

'I'm great!' Luna said, coming to stand by Harry. They entwined hands and the ache to have Edmund close grew even more.

I turned my head, trying not to show my jealousy. They didn't deserve that emotion pointed towards them—they'd gone through even more then Edmund and I had!

But still, I couldn't help it.

'Oh Hermione, Edmund is fine, I promise!' Luna sat on the edge of my bed and took my hand, 'I promise!'

I smiled and closed my eyes, trying to stop them.

'It's ok to cry.' She brushed my bangs back in a loving manner, 'It's all going to be alright...I promise.'

'I know.' I sniffed a bit, and placed my hand over Luna's to reassure her, 'These are tears of joy. It's all over!'

And I knew right then and there, peace was now here to stay.

Chapter 12: To Hogwarts and Other Places Again

'Cadogan Peter Pevensie! Aneirin Harry Pevensie! What are you up too?' The boys looked back at me with smiles.

'Nothing Mum!' Aneirin called to me. He was just the vision of a young Edmund. But he was really the exact opposite of his father's personality. He was the prankster of the group, the troublemaker—and worse of all, he had my brains so he could come up with some bloody brilliant pranks, his father's soft brown eyes and thick, dark hair always was his way out of trouble though.

Cadogan was more like me, except he had tousled instead of curly hair. He was strong and regal, holding himself like a noble prince, like his father but still, the golden flecks in his eyes sparkled with my high intelligence as he smiled.

He was the most Narnia of our trio as well. He had Edmund's ability for swordsmanship and tact, he really was the best parts of Edmund and I put together.

Aneirin was the mischievous and curious, the rule-breaking parts of Edmund and I put together. Both a blessing and a curse.

The boys were a year apart to the day, and sharing a birthday was always interesting when July 21 rolled around. Cadogan was the eldest.

Ece, our now older corgi, ran around the station, one ear up and the other down and her coat now a bright purplish hue.

I sighed, placing my hands on my hips as I tried to hold back a smile, 'Aneirin's idea?' He was the prankster of the two boys. Cadogan never really did pranks unless he was around Fred and George for too long.

I heard Edmund laugh before he wrapped his arms around me, 'Relax my love. They are fine, just having a bit of fun.'

'Mummy?' The young girl that was a mirror to me gently pulled on my robe's sleeve.

'Yes Aderyn?' I asked with a smile, gently touching her chocolate-colored ringlets.

'When will Aunt Luna get here?' She wined, not wanting to wait any longer. I smiled, every since she had figured out her middle name came from the amazing Luna Lovegood, a family friend and war hero—not to mention wife to the amazing Harry Potter—my little Aderyn Luna Pevensie simply was in awe of her. It was sort of cute, and Luna was so sweet to go along with it. But it wasn't just Luna who had caught the girls attention.

'Soon, they are probably just trying to get James out of bed.' I smiled as the little girl blushed a bit. It was no secret she was head over heels for the young Potter boy. They were just about the same age, James just a few months older. And they would be starting school together next year.

Everyone assumed something would come of the two of them, I simply wanted to stay out of the whole thing. Secretly, I was hoping right along with the rest of them as well.

Aderyn smiled as she looked up to see Luna and Harry walking through the portal, Albus Severus and her beloved James close behind.

'Uncle Harry! Aunt Luna over here!' Aneirin called. Albus ran over to Cadogan and the two instantly started up a conversation. Both were in Gryffindor and just as close as two Third Years could be. Cadogan joined in a bit but it was a harder for him, he was the fourth year and in Ravenclaw. They still all got along pretty well though.

James came shyly over to Aderyn's side.

'Hullo Aderyn.' He said, his beautiful grey eyes not daring to meet her chocolate ones.

'Hullo James!' Aderyn had not shyness in her. She was bold and strong.

'Just like her mother, every time.' Edmund said, his usual line when it came to Aderyn.

I took Edmund's hand and was just about to retort when the whistle sounded.

'Alright boys! Time to get on the train!' I called, Edmund and Harry helped the boys get their trunks on and soon everyone was saying their good byes and such.

Still, the Albus and our two were teenage boys so goodbyes didn't take to long. Mushy stuff was a no-no for this stage in their life.

The boys disappeared onto the train and we all started to leave, planing on going out to lunch together as a treat for our two left behind.

'Mum?' I turned when I heard Cadogan's voice. I smiled and stepped over to the train.

'Yes Cadogan?' I said.

He flew into my arms for one last hug, something I hadn't expected at all.

Quickly he kissed my cheek, 'I love you. Have a safe trip home.' And he was gone.

I stood dumbfounded. Teenagers weren't suppose to do that. A quick look around the train told me that stereotype was correct.

Edmund laughed and walked over to take my hand, 'He loves you, and he wanted you to know that. Cadogan is just started to learn not to care what others think and just be himself. He's growing up.'

'That he is.' My hands tightened around Edmund's arms as he wrapped them around me. All of the boys stuck their heads out to wave goodbye, and we waved right back.

Once the train was gone from sight I turned to look at Edmund. We had both grown up, aged some, but I was still utterly and completely head over heels for my Narnian Prince.

Edmund gave me a quizzical look before I stood up a bit and kissed him.

'What was that for?' He asked, wrapping his arms round my waste.

'Because I love you, and always will.' I said. Smiling brightly.

Edmund kissed me back, the feel of his lips still lingered after he pulled back, 'I love you, and will forever and always.'

I smiled, feeling like a young girl again, back when we had first met. The butterflies playing in my stomach and the new feeling of love running all through me.

And then Aderyn pulled on my robe again.

I smiled, the moment broken but the feeling still there, 'Yes dear?'

'Can I hold Jame's hand?' She asked, her curls falling into her eyes.

I laughed aloud and nodded, 'You can but you need to ask his permission first.'

Her smile grew and she skipped over to James, setting her new plan into motion.

'Just like her mother.' Edmund whispered, kissing my cheek.

I smiled, 'With the compassion and love of her father.'

Edmund wrapped his arm around me as we started back over to the portal.

'I wonder if we'll get to go to Narnia ever again.' Edmund sighed, I knew he missed the place but there was nothing I could do about it. We had gotten to go back three times over the course of the life we had made together, but the last time was years ago. When Cadogan was younger, he was just about eight.

I smiled, maybe that was why he was more Narnian then the rest. Maybe the trip had stocked that Narnian blood in him to come out and grow as a part of him.

I touched Edmund's arm and smiled, 'Maybe one day. I'm sure Aderyn would love to be crowned a princess.'

Edmund laughed, 'I'm sure she would!'

Luna and Harry walked over to us, they smiled. I could tell they had just been imagining the days of our youth as well.

And with that we stepped threw the portal. Except, it wasn't into the Muggle World that he expected.

We had stepped right into Narnia.

My mouth dropped, could it really be? Edmund's face broke into a smile as Harry's and Luna's grew in awe.

I looked back to James and Aderyn, who had taken James hand and didn't look like she was letting go anytime soon.

They both were amazed by the scene being painted around them. It was a beautiful spring day, flowers everywhere and the sea gently blowing a breeze around us.

'Da, where is this place?' Aderyn asked, pulling James with her to stand next to Edmund.

Edmund smiled, and knelt next to her, 'This is Narnia. Remember me telling you about it?'

She nodded, her mouth still open with amazement. James was to preoccupied with the ocean's waves to be shy about holding Aderyn's hand.

'This is my world. You guys have only grown up in Mum's world but know I've been given the chance to share a piece of my world with you. Would you care to see?' Edmund stood and held out his hand to his daughter. She took it, still not releasing James', and Edmund started towards the castle.

I smiled and watched the scene, enjoying the beauty of the moment.

Harry walked over to me, Luna next to him like always, 'Just like old times.'

I smiled, a happy tear falling down my cheek, 'Yes, just like old times.'

And in that one moment, I just knew, my love for Edmund might be tested and be strengthened. Having gone through all the years we've had together, both good and bad.

But I knew that it would never weaken.

The butterflies started as he turned to look at me over his shoulder, he motioned for me to come and I ran towards him like I was a young, silly seventeen year old again.

I jumped into his arms, hugging him tight, 'Never let me go.'

He smiled into my hair, 'I never will.'
