Chapter 1: The Mystery Man
[Printer Friendly Version of This Chapter]

A/N: I am not JK Rowling, so I don’t own Harry Potter, if I did book 6 would be different. This is a H/H ship, with a failed H/R ship mention.

I also include references to other things.. books, movies, television programs, songs... so bonus points to anyone that can find them!

Ch. 1   The Mystery Man

It was a dark and stormy night, as a tall hooded figure trudged up the hill towards his longtime home of Hogwarts. No one could tell if he was limping, or if it was the slippery slopes of the school grounds. His clothes were torn and blood stained. It was pouring rain, yet he didn’t care. He glanced over towards the Forbidden Forest, trying to see if there were any lights in the cabin of his dear friend, but the grounds were in complete darkness. The castle loomed closer, its towering turrets jet-black against the mass of dark clouds above him.

Once he reached the closed doors of the castle, he shoved the heavy doors open with force. Limping inside, he looked through the sea of people walking throughout the castle for one significant being. He squeezed his way through the big crowd at the entrance. Not finding her there, he continued trough the castle. He decided to start at the Great Hall. He looked along the tables to try to find her, but no luck. He quickly turned around, and exited the Great Hall.

Inside the Great Hall, thousands of aurors and order members were all huddled together, waiting for their new instructions as to where to go next. The room was bumbling with anxiety, and excitement as the wizards, young and old, awaited their new task. They knew it had to be good, as Dumbledore didn’t usually call upon them in great numbers.

He limped his way through the sea of Aurors, waiting for their new assignment, turning towards the Library. Reaching the library, he searched the seemingly endless rows of books, not finding her.

Exiting the library, he bumped into Ginny. “I’m sorry Ginny. I didn’t mean to run into you like that.” He said, helping her to her feet. Doing so, she caught a glimpse of his face concealed by the hood. To her he seemed familiar, but she couldn’t quite place how he was.

“Who are you and what are you doing here?” She asked.

“My identity isn’t important right now. I was looking for Hermione. I have an urgent message for her. Have you seen her?” He said, continuing to look around him for any sign of her.

“Yeah, she’s in the Hospital Wing...”

“Is she alright?” He inquired.

“She’s fine. She’s just helping Madam Pomfrey, they’re rather shorthanded lately, and....” she started to answer, but realized he had run off in the direction of the hospital wing.

“Wait! What’s going on?” She yelled, running after him.

He started to slow down, realizing there was no real hurry, and allowing Ginny to catch up to him. She kept a jogging pace, trying to stay with his long strides. “Who sent you?” She asked him.

“It might be best if you didn’t know right at this moment. But if you really want to know, it would be best if you would be there for Miss Granger after I give her the note.” He said, turning the corner to enter the Hospital Wing, immediately finding the mane of bushy brown hair.

“Hermione....” he said, barely above a whisper.

In the Hospital Wing, Madam Pomfrey and several other medi-witches from St. Mungo’s were busily working to heal all who have fallen in the war. Since the war is getting more problematical, the wing fills up faster. They even had to expand the wing to fit everyone. Hermione is helping to make potions and remedies for the patients, since Snape is no longer an ally.

The hooded man walked towards her. Reaching her, he put his hand on her shoulder. She turned on her heal and whipped out her wand, pointing it at the man’s chest.

“Who are you?” She asked shrilly.

“Hermione, relax. It’s me.” He said, removing his hood that obscured his face.

To Be Continued....

Authors Note: Who’s this mystery man? {Honestly, I haven’t decided. I can’t choose between 2 people.} And what is this message for Hermione? And why did he suggest that Ginny stay with Hermione after he gives the note to her? All these questions are to be answered in the next chapter. I promise it’ll be longer.
