He died on May 24 of this year - protecting his younger brother, Jamie. R.I.P Robert. XxXxX I guess you could say that the feelings started to arise the summer before my third year. When I first saw him at the Burrow, playing a round of Quidditch with his brothers, as well as Harry and Ginny. He had been in control of the game; you could tell from the sheer expression on his face. You could also tell that he was a true Quidditch player. He rode his broom with a skill that was obviously polished from years of practice, but he also had a sort of grace to his flight. His eyes where focused on the make-shift Snitch, even as his mop of red hair was being tossed around by the wind, covering most of his forehead, as well as his dark-baby blue eyes. The picture was still so clear, even after two years. I could still see him riding his broom, Harry close behind him but still not quick enough to catch him. His robes flying behind him as he caught a gust of wind and swooped in towards the golden orb. With one hand he had caught the Snitch, winning the game 130-110, and causing a dispute to begin between the two teams, lasting for the rest of the evening, and even into the next morning before Mrs. Weasley had had enough and put her foot down, calling for a truce. I decided to try to stay away from the topic of Quidditch for the rest of break, as to not cause a quarrel between Harry and Ron, but also as not to be caught up into playing a game. This only lasted three days, before Ginny suggested that we all play one quick game, which ended setting a spark, that would not-soon go out. XxXxX ‘Oh come on Mione! It will be fun!’ She begged, pulling on my arm. ‘No, you know that I don’t like to play. I hate flying.’ I replied, trying desperatly to focus on the book in front of me. ‘No you don’t, and you know it! Oh come one, please.’ ‘No.’ ‘Please?’ ‘No!’ ‘Pretty Please, I won’t ask you to play for the rest of the break if you just say yes now!’ She said, finishing it of with the best puppy eyes she could muster in thirty seconds. I couldn't hold back, I caved. ‘Alright, one quick game.’ I said, putting my book aside, and following the bouncing red head out side, although it was more like being drug than me actually following her. ‘Hey guys! Hermione has decided to join in this time!’ She yelled up to the boys, who apparently had been waiting for us, since they were already on their brooms and flying around the Pitch. ‘You sure Hermione?’ Harry asked, remembering that I detested flying. ‘Of course she it!’ Ginny called up for me. I hate when she does that. She walked over and retrieved two brooms that where leaning against one of the many trees in the yard. ‘Here.’ She said, handing me an old, but usable, Cheap Sweep, ‘This is Charlie’s old one, fairly easy to ride, but very sleek when it comes to speed. It should work well for ya.’ ‘Thanks.’ I replied sarcastically. I watched as Ginny took off, before I even considered kicking off. ‘Well here goes nothing!’ I said mounting the broom. ‘Ok, just kick off Hermione, push up with your feet. You know, the things attached to your ankles! Come on just kick off! Kick off!’ Nothing. ‘Come on Mione! We don’t have all day!’ Ron yelled, receiving a glare from Ginny. ‘Ok. Just do it!’ I said, and kicked off. I felt my body thrown into the air; I closed my eyes, and tightened my grip around my broom. If I had had my eyes open, I would have noticed that my knuckles where now bone-white. I felt the summer breeze blowing around me as it picked up my hair, causing it to dance in the wind. Slowly I began to open my eyes. ‘Wow, this isn’t as bad as I thought it was going to be!’ I thought before turning my head down towards the grass. I was a few yards off the ground, but it felt like a hundred. My broom started to wobble a bit, and my body tightened up, causing me to drop a few feet, before steadying back out. ‘Relax Hermione, don’t you remember the lessons from first year?’ one of the twins yelled, George by my guess. I took a deep breath, trying to think back to that year. A lot had happened; flying wasn’t really the first thing on the list of things to remember, or the second or even the third. Some of it started to come back, and as I began to remember, my body slowly started to relaxed. I took one last breath before making my way over next to Ginny and the rest of the Weasley clan. ‘Ok, now that everyone is off of the ground, lets pick the teams.’ The other twin said, either Fred or George, they were both next to each other, it was hard to tell. ‘Yeah, how about Charlie and Harry for the captains?’ Ron said. ‘I’m fine with it if Charlie is.’ Harry called. ‘Fine by me.’ Charlie said. ‘Ok so let’s get to picking!’ The twins chimed in unison. ‘You can go first Harry.’ Charlie offered. ‘Ok, Ron.’ ‘George.’ ‘Ginny’ Ginny blushed and flew over next to Harry, a little to close for Ron’s liking. I just smiled, knowing that she wound not soon forget about the famous Harry Potter choosing her for his team. ‘Hermione.’ Charlie called. I flew over to where my other two teammates where, a little confused by him choosing me for his team. Me, the person who hasn’t even touched a broom since first year, and he choose me. Ginny broke out into the biggest ear-to-ear grin that I had ever seen, or probably will ever see again, once she saw that I had a red-tint to my face. ‘Oi, so I get picked last? I see how it is!’ Fred complained. ‘Yeah, so now, let’s play!’ Ron yelled, and each player flew to their own side to begin strategizing. I followed Charlie and George over to our side of the Pitch, listening to them converse. ‘Charlie, I think that I should play Keeper while you and Hermione play Chaser.’ ‘Sure, I’ll also play Seeker, Hermione how do ya feel about playing Chaser with me?’ ‘S-sure.’ I stammered. I didn’t know what was going to happen, but me trying to fly and score with the Quaffle, while being chased by the other Chasers, was defiantly not going to end well. ‘Ok let’s go!’ Fred yelled over to our group. ‘Well, here goes nothing!’ I whispered to myself, watching George fly over to the three goal hoops. ‘You’ll do fine at Chaser, Hermione. Just like you are at everything else!’ Charlie said with a shy smile. He had a sort of gentleness to his voice, but also a hint of determination. A strange mix for a guy that had worked with dragons for six years! ‘Thanks.’ I replied, the blush returning once again. We played for what seemed to be an eternity, but even I was a little sad when Mrs. Weasley called us in for lunch. Once I had gotten the hang of it, I learned that I was actually quite good at Chaser, just like Charlie had told me I would be a few hours earlier. We even where in the lead 140 to 100. All of us pilled into the kitchen to eat, the boys began stuffing their faces even before everyone was seated, I ended up being placed right between Ron and Charlie. I caught myself watching Charlie out of the corner of my eye a lot during lunch, sure he ate like all boys do, but he seemed to eat a whole lot neater. Even pausing in-between bites to carry on conversations with everyone at the table, from his Mum to Ginny, to George and Fred, even a few times with me. ‘So – Charlie.’ I love the way his name just rolls off your tongue. ‘Yeah?’ He said, setting his glass of water down. ‘I-I just wanted to ask, why d-did you pick me for your team? I m-mean Fred was still available, and he is much bett–’ ‘Hermione, I picked you because I knew that you would give it your all, and you have an air of determination, which was very useful today, and anyway don’t sell your self short – you actually play really well!’ He said with another one of his genuine smiles. ‘Th-thank you.’ I replied, turning back to my food, but not before stealing one last glance. ‘Oh! He is just so cute, his smile is perfect, and his eyes! Oh his eyes – no stop it. He’s Ron’s older brother! Seven years older than you Hermione, anyway he probably just thinks of you as his little brothers play-mate! Nothing more! Well maybe he did complement me on–’ I thought to myself, only to be cut off by Ginny’s voice. ‘Hermione? Hermione?’ I looked up and locked eyes with the red head. ‘Yes?’ ‘You want to go and finish the game? The boys already headed out there.’ She asked. I looked around the table, only to discover that everyone was already gone. Except for Mrs. Weasley who was waving her wand and clearing the dishes from the table, and Charlie, who was walking off towards the living-room. ‘No, I think that I will just go read for a bit or go for a short walk, relax from the game a little.’ I explained, Ginny took a look at where her second eldest brother had just been before nodding her head. ‘Alright, mind if I join you for a short walk then?’ She said pushing out her chair and beginning to stand. ‘Alright by me!’ I said following suit. We walked a short way into the woods before the red-head was about to burst about her latest discovery. ‘You like Charlie don’t you?’ She practically yelled. ‘N-no, of chorse not! Wh-what would give you that idea?’ I asked sheepishly. ‘Nothing, except the fact that you were practically red when he chose you for his team and I couldn’t help but notice that you kept looking his way during lunch. I know you to well Mione, just spill already!’ ‘I-I guess that I might have a small crush.’ I said barley above a whisper. ‘What? I couldn’t hear you?’ She said, cupping her hand behind her ear. ‘I guess that I have a small crush on him.’ I replied again a little bit louder. ‘Oh, I’m sorry what was that?’ ‘I LIKE HIM! OKAY?’ I yelled. ‘Gosh Mione, no need to yell. I wouldn’t be surprised if more than half the wizarding world knows that Hermione Granger had a crush on my brother Charlie!’ She practically sung the last part. I looked down at my shoes as another blush began to take over my face. ‘Oh Mione, you know that I wouldn’t say anything! Promise!’ She said, pulling me into a small hug. ‘Yeah, and I promise not to say anything to the famous Harry Potter about the undying love that you have for him.’ I replied playfully. ‘I wouldn’t mind if you did! At least then he might get the hint!’ XxXxX And she was the only one who knew, well that was until today. At the beginning of this year (my fifth) Charlie had been asked to take over the Care for Magical Creatures, since Hagrid had taken leave as to help out the Order. Everyone was happy, Ron, Harry, Ginny, and particularly me, but much to my dismay it also meant that my crush might be harder to keep, especially when the object of my affection was my professor. Ginny had kept her word, and never said anything, not even making small side-jokes when any of the boys where around. But that didn’t stop my habit of doodling, particularly when it came to doodling a certain Weasley’s name or picture on a black parchment when ever I took a break between classes. XxXxX ‘What do we have here Granger?’ Lavender Brown squealed pulling out the same parchment from earlier that day. ‘Lavender! Give it back! That’s mine!’ I said, trying to grab my drawings back. ‘Oh? What’s this?’ She said, catching a few of the girl’s attentions around us. She unfolded the parchment only to find one of my most-recent drawings. It was just an animated drawing of Charlie interacting with Norbert, the only problem was that I had put my self in the picture as well with a few hearts jolted down around the scene; it had popped into my head earlier that day at lunch, and now I wish that I had never thought of it. I turned a vibrant red and tried to bury my head behind my stack of books, as she showed it off to the rest of the small group that had begun to gather around us, which was mostly made up of Gryffindor girls, with a few Ravenclaw ones as well. ‘So I guess the little book-worm is also an artist!’ She exclaimed rather loudly. If I didn’t hate Lavender before, I sure as hell did now! If it had been in the common room I wouldn’t have been trying to burrow into my books, if it was in Charms I would have ignored it, but no it had to be here – of all the classes that we have together she had to pick this one, the one where– ‘What do you girls have here?’ A familiar voice said from behind me. ‘Damn.’ I whispered quietly to myself. As if this could get any worse! ‘Oh, nothing!’ Lavender said, trying to hide the paper behind her back. ‘Ms. Brown.’ Charlie said motioning to hand over the parchment she was trying to hide. ‘Come on Lavender, don’t obey now, please, hand it over to someone else please, any one but him! Just don’t let him get it!!’ I thought to myself. ‘Ok, Professor Weasley.’ She said glancing over to me with a sneer as she handed it over. Damn, do I hate that girl! ‘Thank You.’ He said taking it and unfolding it just as Lavender had before. His beautiful blue eyes, which had changed to more of a sapphire-blue instead of the dark-baby blue he had two years ago, scanned the parchment before looking up at the group. My eyes, and heart, dropped after I noticed that his expression was un-detectable. I couldn’t tell if he was upset or disappointed. Confused or embarrassed. So I did the only thing that I could think of doing. I ran. Ignoring the countless laughs and comments, and callings of ‘Hermione’ I kept going. I ran until I could run no more, and even then I still pushed my self until I made it to my destination; the Black Lake. I fell against the closest tree and cried my eyes out until there was nothing left to cry. XxXxX And this was where I was still at, sitting with my back against the same tree, looking out over the water. In my hands I held my time-turner from third year, I always had it with me, just in case. Now I was considering going back to this same morning to stop myself from ever drawing the picture or at least stop myself from tucking it into the cover of my book. I had already placed it around my neck, and was playing with the idea when I heard a familiar voice come up behind me, calling out my name. ‘Hermione, Hermione! Where are you?’ I turned around slowly and peered out from behind the tree. Charlie of course. ‘Ok, now or never.’ I whispered to myself. ‘Hermione!’ He called out once more. He was getting closer. ‘Hermione?’ He seemed to be pleading now. I peered back around, only to lock eyes with the infamous blue eyes of Charlie Weasley. ‘Hermione.’ He said in his usual gentle tone. He began to stride towards my hiding place at a quickening pace. Eight yards away. Now or never girl what’s it going to be? Six yards. Ok so he found out, so what? I bet it won’t even matter tomorrow! He will think of it as just another school-girl crush! Five yards. Oh but you know that it’s more than that! It always has been! It always will be! Three yards. A few more of his long-legged strides and he would be right in front of me. No. Yes. Two Yards. No! Yes! And you know it! One Yard. ‘I choose now!’ I yelled, turning the golden-hourglass. ‘Hermione!’ He yelled, I could see the outline of his form now running to try and catch me. But that was all I caught before my eyes where washed over with a multitude of colors. Blues, Greens, Silvers and Blacks. My body felt as if it was being pulled in four different directions while being pushed deeper and deeper into the past. I opened my mouth to scream but no sound came out - causing a slight panic in my chest. My lungs tightened and my heart began to beat faster and faster until it felt as if it were going to burst. My breaths began to start farther and farther apart, making it feel as if I was being held under water, being pulled farther and farther from the surface. As I was pushed down the air around me began to grow darker and darker – the colors dissolving before my eyes. I felt my self starting to slip into a deep state of unconsciousness, and just as soon as it happened, it ended. I had landed, hard, on the cold morning grass, with a new coat of dew spread across the lawn. ‘I don’t remember it being that rough in third year.’ I said pulling my self up, and rubbing my head. Once I was standing, I turned around towards the castle, trying to gain a barrier of where I was at exactly. But what I found was what I had least expected. As I turn around I noticed a group of four boys standing around a tree. ‘Wow, I guess some people like to be out on mornings like this!’ I thought, wrapping my arms around my semi-wet robes. I began to walk towards the path leading back to the castle, when something caught my eye. I turned back around to the small group and looked back-over the boys once again, a little more closely this time, all Gryffindors from what I could tell. Two of them had flaming-red hair; the kind that you would expect only the Weasley’s to have. ‘Those must be the twins! They – wait those aren’t the twins.’ I thought, now squinting to get a better look at the two red-headed boys, I eventually gave up and began to walk towards the group. The first boy, who seemed to be a few years older than the second, had bright navy-blue eyes and long shaggy hair, which I assumed was pulled back into a small poly-tail, since none of it was hanging loose. He was also very talk and lengthy – defiantly not one of the twins. The second boy was fairly tall but was very set in his shoulders, and seemed to be about four inches shorter than the first. He had a mess of red hair that seemed to fall where it pleased too, but for some reason it seemed to know to show of his blue eyes, because that was the only place that it seemed not to fall. His eyes seemed to be a twirled blue almost, going from a dark navy-blue, and then gradually getting lighter and lighter until it was a bright-pale blue which met with his black-pupils in the center. All around he was quite attractive, probably a heart throb to all the girls his age. But there is no doubt about it, the two are defiantly brothers, the hair gave them away to easily! Then you had the other two boys. The first, the one closest to the tallest red-head, had straight, and extremely shaggy, chestnut brown hair, that had a slight blonde shadow to it. His bangs hung far into his emerald-green eyes, which he kept trying to push to the right of his forehead with a jerk of his head, but in the end it did nothing to help him but fall right back into their original place. The second boy had bleach-blond hair, with which he had added blue streaks too, the blonde was not as white as Malfoy’s but pretty close, it hung just as shaggy as the other boys; the only difference was that he had his bangs split in the middle, a part hanging to each side of his forehead and down to his ears. He had a set of icy-blue eyes, which made him, again, look like a Malfoy, but the only thing telling that he defiantly wasn’t was the grin spread across his face, and the slight smile in his eyes. As I approached the group, the first red-head, the one with the pony-tail, looked up. Followed by the other red-head, and then finally the last two boys. ‘H-hello’ I managed, still engrossed by the two red heads. They just had to be Weasleys. The just had to be! ‘Hello.’ The second-red head replied. He caught my gaze and held it. I got lost in his eyes, something about them was familiar – something I just couldn’t place it. ‘Y-yes, well I was j-just wondering. Um- well who are you guys? I don’t remember seeing you around h-here before.’ I replied in the most prefect-voice that I could muster. ‘We could say the same about you.’ The one with emerald-eyes said. ‘Yeah. We haven’t see you around here before.’ It was the blonde who spoke this time, while crossing his arms. ‘I asked you first.’ I said, placing my hands on my hips and growing more confident with each word. ‘Yeah, well, he’s Vladimir Nyx,’ The second-red head replied, nodding towards the blonde with the blue streaks, who’s eyes where now a pale blue, ‘That’s Jayson Daniels,’ He nodded to the one with the chestnut-brown hair, ‘And this here is my brother, Bill Weasley.’ He replied placing a hand on the taller red-heads shoulder. Wait, did I just hear him right? Did he say Bill? As in Bill Weasley, the one that is hopelessly in love with Fleur Delacour? – Wait, if he’s Bill then he must be – ‘And I’m Charlie Weasley, although you could probably tell that we are both Weasleys on the account of our red-hair, most every one can.’ He replied with his notorious shy smile. Yeah that was Charlie, I would recognize that smile any where. I wonder why it always seemed shy though, I guess he just doesn’t smile enough! Yeah, but everything else was defiantly Charlie’s, from his red shaggy red-hair to his to-die-for Quidditch stature. Everything was his, except for the eyes, and of course his voice, which was a few notches higher, but his eyes where what caught me off guard – why had they changed so much from when he was older? Wait – when he gets older. I looked over the younger Weasley again; he looked about my age, which had to mean that he was in his fifth year as well, which meant that I had fallen back a lot farther then I had originally planed. Ok think Hermione, think. In my time he is seven years older than me, so in his fifth year I would be – um – damn math – ok so you subtract that – no wait count backwards – No – Wait I got it, so I am eight now. Ok so I’m not at Hogwarts yet – of course I wouldn’t be at Hogwarts yet! Charlie and Bill are still here! But still, I haven’t broken any of the rules, I haven’t met my old self, or my new self, no old self – wait – oh whatever! ‘S-so what year is it exactly?’ I asked, losing all the confidence that I had gained in the last few minutes.. ‘It’s 1988 of course!’ The one referred to as Jayson Daniels replied. ‘O-o-oh.’ I replied, and once again I felt that pull on my body, only this time it was defiantly gravity. It hit me, I had spun the time-turner back to far, what was it six times? Maybe even seven? I wasn’t in my own time – and I didn’t have either Harry or Ron with me. I was on my own, in a time where they didn’t even know that I existed yet! I was out of my own year, and in 1988. Not just any year though, I was in Charlie’s year. I slowly moved my hand up towards my throbbing-temple, which was now spinning as if Harry had just sped around it with his Firebolt. ‘A-are you alright?’ I heard Charlie question. I looked up and was met with a blurry out-line of the four Gryffindor boys, which seemed to get darker and darker each time I blinked. ‘Yeah I-I’m just fin-’ Which was all I got out before hitting the ground with a loud thump. The unconscious state that I had begun to suffer from during the time-change had now taken over and thrown me into complete stage of black. A dark state that I could only wish I would wake up from, back in my own time. In my own year. Where there was Harry, Ron and Ginny. And where Charlie was my professor again and not a student of my same age. XxXxX AN ~ Yeah! My first Hermione-Charlie! *does a strange little dance* I adore reviews ~ and they really help clear-up my writers block quicker ~ don’t expect all the chapters to be this long ~ I just had a lot to fill in about the past ~ well until the next Chapter ~ Adieu >.< _Keeper_ My eyelids slowly began to part as I came out of my unconscious state. I quickly closed them as the late afternoon light forced its twilight deeper and deeper into my retinas. I groaned and began to pull the comforter up around my head when I was stopped by a feeling, a feeling as if someone was watching me. I froze, peering out from behind the dark-blue comforter and looked down towards the foot of the bed, where I was met by a pair of curious jade-green eyes. One of the four boys that I had met outside. He was the blonde one with the blue streaks, Vladimir if I remembered correctly. Damn, I had hoped that was all a dream, and that I was going to wake up by the lake and– ‘Are you alright? You gave us all a nasty shock out there, with you fainting and all that.’ He said. Unlike the other three boys, who had all had English accents, he had a Scottish one. ‘Yeah, yeah I’m perfectly fine!’ I exclaimed, trying to gain the little pride that I had left. ‘Ok, I was just asking.’ He replied, picking up on my bruised ego. I sat up in the bed, trying to increase my idea of the surrounding area. There was a large window at the end of the room, three beds down from mine, which happened to be the first in the short row. Each bed was neatly made with a navy-blue comforter and a white pillow tucked under it. There was another door, closed of course, located to the right of the bed directly across from. I assumed that it must lead to the room where Madam Pomfrey kept all of her healing potions and ingredients, and let my eyes wander a little more. I must be in the hospital; it looks similar to the one at Hogwarts. Ewe, what is that smell? I looked down to the small bed-side table, there was a small glass vase and a small glass bottle with a silver colored liquid inside, which was corked (with what looked to be a small crystal like gem), but still, even though it was corked, it didn’t seem to keep the wretched smell trapped inside. ‘Ahhh,’ He said, picking up the small glass-bottle, ‘Curatio Cristal de Glace.’ The boy gazed at the sphere as it caught the sun’s rays and sent a shatter of different colors all around the room. I looked upon him with interest; he sure knew what he was talking about when it came to potions, or at least when it came to their names. ‘What did you call it?’ I said, looking up and trying to meet with his, now, deep forest-green eyes. ‘Curatio Cristal de Glace.’ He repeated, it sounded a little strange with his Scottish accent, but it worked none the less. His eyes where still set on the small bottle, almost as if he where purposely trying to ignore me, or maybe he was truly interested in the silver liquid. But seriously, had he never seen a healing-potion before? ‘And what does that mean.’ I asked, not able to hold back my curious tongue. ‘Curatio means healing in Latin, and Cristal de Glace means ice crystal in French.’ He held the orb once again up to the beam of light coming in from the window. ‘Healing Ice Crystal.’ I whispered, it was a beautiful name that just rolled off the tongue. But it was defiantly not a name that you heard when it came to mixing Potions. I looked back up at the young Gryffindor, only to find him still fascinated by the small potion-bottle. As I watched, I let a small smile appear across my face, which immediately disappeared when I looked back up, once again trying to catch his eyes. My mouth opened slightly as I took notice that his eyes where now a dark azure color, I could have sworn a second ago they had been a forest green, now come to think of it, before that, when I had first woken up, they where a light jade-green. The boy looked up, aware of my light-hazel eyes analyzing him now. ‘What? What’s wrong?’ He responded in a poised tone, his eyes lightning a bit with each spoken word. ‘Y-your eyes, a-are they changing c-colors?’ I asked, now fascinated by his eyes. ‘No,’ He said, setting the bottle back on the table and turning towards the window. ‘I could have sworn that they where just a–’ I was cut off by two red heads, dressed in their full Quidditch uniforms, coming through the door-frame of the room and running up to the hospital bed. ‘Nyx did you hear what happened?’ They said in unison. I let out a small sigh. I was thankful that I hadn’t caught the red-heads immediate attention. Facing one of the Older Weasleys after falling back in time was a lot to take in, facing two of them, especially one of them that had captured my heart with out realizing it, and that could crush it by just ignoring me as if I where just another one of his little-brother’s friends or calling me a brilliant witch for such a young age, why does everyone always have to attached the ‘young age’ part to it, can’t I just be a brilliant witch? I had gotten lost in my own world when I was broken out of my thought by the blonde with the (I swear I am right about this!) changing eye colors. ‘Hello? Hello?’ He said, beginning to wave his hand in front of my. His eyes now a deep-sea blue. ‘Yes?’ I replied, still a little annoyed that I didn’t quite know the reason his eyes where changing colors. ‘Sorry, but – um – we don’t know you name.’ Charlie explained, his voice cracking a little. I smiled and nodded, finding his nervous behavior quite attractive for some reason. ‘So…what is it?’ Bill asked, coming and standing next to Charlie, who was now sitting at the foot of my bed. It was surprising how much they looked alike even though they where two years apart, and then I went into a small state of panic. Ok, so they need a name. Should I give them Hermione? No that will probably blow up right in my face. Oh what name? What name! Why can I never think of a name in a time when I really need one! Isis – no they wouldn’t know the Greek gods! Locke? No that sounds like a boy’s name! Alexandria? Ok – where did that come from? The blonde had grown slightly impatient; he was now standing with his arms crossed and foot taping, Bill was unreadable, but Charlie seemed to be intrigued with me trying to remember. Ok answer now, or have them stare at you longer Hermione, just give them a name, any name, the first one that comes to mind! Saphira? Ok maybe the second– ‘Journey.’ I said as if I had just figured out the answer to a difficult question, not as if I had just told someone my name. ‘Journey?’ Vladimir asked, testing the name out on his tongue. Oh, like he was one to talk – seriously Vladimir? Vladimir Nyx? Who had every heard of either of those names before! What was he…a vampire? Well, he did kind of have the look of one, with his ivory-white skin and bleach-blonde hair, and his constant eye changes. ‘Yes, Journey – um, ah – Knight, yes, Journey Knight.’ I replied, thoroughly impressed by my cleverness. ‘Journey Knight.’ Charlie repeated, he also was trying out the name, just like Vampire Boy had. He smiled after repeating it again. ‘I like it.’ He complimented me, giving off another one of his shy smiles. ‘Thank you.’ I turning my head down and let my blanked of chestnut-brown curls cover my face where a deep rose-blush was now appearing. ‘Well, Journey, are you all right after this morning. You fell pretty hard.’ Charlie asked. He was so kind, even to strangers that he just met. (Even though technically I wasn’t a stranger.) That was one of the things that I absolutely loved about his character, that being one of many things. ‘I’m alright,’ I said looking up to meet his eyes, which shone from being outside in the sun. ‘Good’ He replied. ‘Well, we better get back to the common room, Connor should be up in the common room now, after he took that nasty fall, also, I don’t know about you Charlie, but I really want to change out of these robes.’ Bill said, adding him self into the one-on-one conversation. ‘Yeah.’ Charlie said standing up. He began to follow the red-head and the want to be vampire, who was already half-way out the door. Charlie stopped and turned back around when he had reached the door-frame. ‘I-I’ll try and come u-up before breakfast tomorrow before classes, i-is that al-alright?’ He stammered nervously, looking almost anywhere, and everywhere, but towards me. ‘I would like that.’ I said, flashing him a small and quick, but one which also held a hint of flirtation, smile. ‘Great.’ He said, now holding a smile made pure euphoria. ‘See you then, Journey.’ I loved the way that he said my name, even though it wasn’t truly mine. ‘Until then.’ He smiled once more, and then continued out the entrance and down the hall. I laid back onto my bed, my arms stretched behind me creating a make-shift pillow. I might not want to be stuck in this time period, away from my home and all my friends, but I could defiantly get use to this teenage-Charlie, one that was way closer to my league than the one who seven years older than me, and who league was farther away from mine then heaven was from hell. My eyes began to drift close, when all of a sudden the door across the room burst open, the one that had previously been closed. I sat up, startled by the noise, only to be meet by my Headmaster, only this one being from 1988. This can’t be good. I rubbed my eyes, and looked back up at the Headmaster. He might have been from this year, but his eyes told that he knew what was happening and who I was. Yep, defiantly not a good thing! He walked over to the foot of my bed and looked down upon me, placing both of his hands on the two end bed posts. ‘Hello Ms. Granger, So what are you doing in our year of 1988?’ He said with the same twinkle in his eyes, the same one from my year, and probably every year that he was Headmaster (maybe even before that!), only his eyes held a little more youth to them, but they defiantly still held the color of knowledge. I could only stare at him, wondering what all he knew. His gaze fell to my shirt collar and then back up to my hazel eyes. My hand flew, instinctively, to my chest, expecting to find the time-turner, but in turn, finding nothing but the collar of my shirt. I ran my hands a few times around my neck before glancing down and then looking back up to my Headmaster. This was not a good end, to an already hellish day. ‘Get some rest Ms. Granger, but do remember, I will be speaking with you tomorrow morning to discuss this – dilemma.’ And then he was gone. I let my hand glide over my collar, the place where my time-turner should be, while I let all the questions that I had fill my mind. I soon gave up trying to figure everything out, and let my body fall back onto my soft-bed. I pulled the blanked over my small figure and tucked my head deep into the pillows, hoping for sleep to steal me away once again. This was going to be one interesting adventure! XxXxX AN So does anyone like it? Review please ~ seriously I thrive on feed back! Well thanks for reading ~ more HermioneCharlie in the next chapter! Promise! So does anyone like my original character? Anyone? *sigh* >.< _Keeper_ ‘Miss.’ A far away voice whispered. ‘Miss, Miss!’ The voice now said, a little sharper. My eyes opened and filled with a bright-light. I yawned as I sat up in my bed. ‘My dear, Headmaster Dumbledore would like to see you in his office.’ She said walking back into the door that had been closed yesterday. I groaned and had burrowed under the covers when she came back into the room. ‘Take this.’ She said, handing me another bottle of the Curatio Cristal de Glace, which had already been uncorked and now filled the surrounding area with its stench. It smelled of rust and iron. I took the bottle and stared at it, not wanting to drink it, but also curious as to what it actually helped healed. ‘Well go on deary, drink up!’ She encouraged. I winced as I brought the bottle closer to my mouth. I looked down once more at the silver liquid before putting the opening to my mouth and drink. The liquid tasted sweet in my mouth, but as I swallowed more and more of the potion it became saltier. When all of it was gone from the small bottle my throat seemed to tighten and then catch on fire, my hands flew to my throat trying to stop the pain. ‘Oh, sorry dear, that’s an after-shock.’ She said handing me a glass of water, which I had gulped down within a minute. My hands once again flew to my esophagus. My throat had begun to relax, and had started to gain its usual feel back, but I still had a salty taste in my mouth. ‘Well, you should be all better by today deary. Why don’t you go to Dumbledore’s office ay?’ She said with a smile. I nodded. Throwing my legs over the side of the bed I felt around for my shoes. Once I had found them, I slipped them on and stood. ‘Oh and dear.’ I turned my head around to face the veteran Healer. ‘The password is Dragon. Oh, and a Mr. Weasley came to see you this morning, but I said that you needed your sleep, he said to tell you that he will see you later on.’ She said, bouncing her hands in the air as if she had it written there. I blushed a deep-red, which was soon followed by a smiled; thanking her, I continued the walk out of the room and down the hall towards his office. Wow, dragon. He didn’t start using muggle foods until my years. I walked up to the Golden-Phoenix and whispered the password. The statue began to ascend up towards the ceiling, causing the stairs to appear. I waited until the stairs went all the way up before beginning to fallow. XxXxX I walked up to the ancient-door and knocked, after the third knock the door opened, on its own, and I was beckoned in. I walked in to find not only Dumbledore, but also Professor McGonagall, who was staring at me dumfounded. ‘Albus, the seer was right!’ She whispered. ‘Yes Minerva. Now Ms. Granger please come over here.’ He said, motioning to the front of his desk. ‘So Ms. Granger, what are you doing in our time?’ Dumbledore said. ‘I-I fell back to far. And now I’ve lost my time-turner, if you have another one, I will be out of here and back to my own time.’ I said, wondering if I could still fix the small problem of the future Charlie finding out my undying love for him. ‘Aaaah! Ms Granger, if only it where that easy.’ McGonagall said. ‘Wh-why not?’ I stammered ‘Because, every witch is only allowed one time-turner, which they in turn are bound to.’ She explained. ‘B-but I don’t have mine, I-I don’t know wh-where it is!’ I practically yelled, but more so to myself for being so stupid, then the not-so-helpful adults. How could I be so stupid as to lose my time-turner! ‘Well, we are planning on brewing a potion to help get you back to your time period.’ Dumbledore explained. My head then snapped up. ‘S-so that means t-that I-I am stuck h-here, i-in 19-1988?’ This time yelling at my two professors. ‘Only for a while Ms. Granger. The potion should only take a month or so to brew.’ Professor McGonagall explained, trying to sound optimistic. ‘Wh-what am I suppose to do until then though?’ I complained, falling into the chair I had been standing in front off and covering my face with my hands. ‘You will fit in with the people here, and go about as if you where born to our time, fit in as best as you can, and don’t give your self away – to anyone.’ Dumbledore explained once again, with the last two words emphasized. Who would I tell? Vampire Boy? No – no maybe my future crush, yeah that would get me noticed! ‘Ms. Granger, have you thought of a name?’ McGonagall asked. ‘Yes, I-I told the boys that had found me the I was Journey, Journey Knight.’ I replied through my hands. ‘Ok Ms. Knight,’ Dumbledore said, already trying to remember me as Journey Knight, ‘Which house do you want to be in?’ I dropped my hands to my lap and looked up. Does he honestly believe that I would want to be in any other house than Gryffindor? ‘Gryffindor, of course.’ I replied, probably a littler more sharp that it should have been. What – do I look like a Hufflepuff now more than I do a Gryffindor? ‘Of course, of course!’ McGonagall agreed. ‘Yes, so now that that is settled, now all we have to do is come up with a story.’ XxXxX ‘Yes, so may I have everyone’s attention!’ Professor McGonagall yelled over the noise in the Gryffindor Common Room. Every Gryffindor stopped and faced the head of their house. ‘This,’ She said, pushing me forward, ‘Is Journey Knight.’ I smiled and looked around; I soon found Charlie and his small group, I studied the group quickly, finding that there where three boys that I had not met yet and the blonde, who now had silver-gray eyes. I looked back over at Charlie, who was smiling, like usual, which was followed by a wave when he noticed me studying the group. I nodded, tuning back into what the Professor was saying. ‘She is transferring over from Argentum Academy for this year, and has been sorted into Gryffindor.’ I turned slightly to look at her; in all my years of Hogwarts, not once had we had a transfer, especially not after the first month since school had begun! ‘Her family had gotten caught up in the Ministry, which is causing her to start this year late!’ She answered, noticing my look of uncertainty. ‘Journey will be in fifth year, and I expect all of you to welcome her with open arms!’ She finished, and looked around. Why do all teachers have to say that? I mean, they should know that they aren’t! Why waste your breath? ‘Now, have a good evening, I shall see you all tomorrow at breakfast.’ She said, ushering me to follow her up to the dorms. I walked a few feet behind her, receiving a few glares from other girls. Apparently they thought that they had competition. Ha – that’s a good one, me Hermione Granger, competition to a blonde with straight hair! That’s a new one to me! I followed my professor up the flight of stairs, leading to the girl’s dorms. We walked down the long hallway until we reached the last door on the left. She opened the door and walked in, me close behind. My eyes flew quickly around the room. It was a single room, with one bed, a side table, and a dresser – but that was just it. It was a single room, not a shared one. I turned back around, facing my professor and waited for the answer to the un-asked question. ‘Ms. Granger, you shall be having the room to your self, as you probably know the rooms only hold a maximum of five girls. All the other dorms are filled, so you will be having this room to yourself.’ She replied. ‘Ohh…’I replied, looking around once more. It was a very spacious room, with a nice sized bed. The room was, of course, covered in the infamous Gryffindor colors. ‘Is everything going to be alright Ms Granger?’ She asked, walking up to my side. ‘Yeah, I-I am just worried. If I am stuck in this time for a month – like you said – what else am I suppose to where? I only have these robes,’ I said, looking down to my dirty, grass covered robes, that where also wrinkled from being slept in. ‘Oh dear, that will be a problem.’ She replied, placing a hand over her mouth. ‘Well, we will deal with that tomorrow! For the rest of the day though, try and enjoy it. Get to know some of the other students.’ She replied walking towards the door. She stopped, with one of her hands placed on the frame and turned back around. ‘You might just learn something of importance.’ She replied, and walked out of the door. Leaving me to fend for myself. I had never felt more alone than at this time right now. I walked over to the bed, and laid down, burring my head once-again in my pillows. What am I going to do? I’m not going to be able to handle being trapped here for a month! I suddenly sat straight up. Wait how did Dumbledore know that I was here? Questions, from this morning and last night, began to flood my mind. There is so much to figure out! How am I going to— ‘Well, well, well, look what the cat dragged in.’ I heard a young voice say. I looked over to been met by the sight of one of the girls that had been glaring at me down in the common room. She had shoulder length strawberry-blonde hair, which didn’t seem to go with her dark, almost black, eyes. Her shirt seemed to be on the short side, and a little tight. She had her long white sleeves rolled up to her elbows, her sweater, like her skirt, seemed to be on the tight side. She was leaning against the door frame, looking as if she was waiting for a comeback. Just what I need. ‘May I help you?’ I asked, not getting up from the bed, but still using a voice that meant that I was going to stand my ground and not be pushed around by some bloody little princess. ‘Yes, you can. You can stay away from Charlie Weasley.’ She said. Damn, so she had seen Charlie’s reaction to me, great! Just what I need – a competition for his attention – with that. ‘What? Is he your boyfriend or something?’ I retorted, now standing up to my full height, which was actually a few inches shorter than her, but still, I could stand my ground and make sure to keep her off it. ‘Not yet, but he will be.’ She said. ‘Just remember, he’s mine.’ She emphasized the mine part and strode out of the door-frame. ‘Aaaah!’ I said, falling back onto my bed. If things couldn’t get worse, they just had. I was stuck in the wrong time. With out Harry or Ron. Where a prissy little slut was telling me what to do – in my own room. And who also kept telling me to stay away from the guy that I fell, hard, for in my fourth year. My hands fell over my face as I groaned. ‘Maybe I should have gone with the Hufflepuffs!’ I mumbled from behind my hands. But soon I would find out that these weren’t the worst thing that could happen to me in this time. And that thinks could get worse. A lot mores worse. XxXxX AN ~ okay so not some of my best writing ~ but still tell me what you think of it! Please? >.< _Keeper_ ~ This chapter is dedicated to the wonderful and wicked Weasleys Forever >.< Thanks for always reviewing! You rock! This one’s for you! ~ XxXxX I had spent the remainder of the day locked up in my room – not wanting to see that blonde again, but also not wanting to answer anyone’s curious questions. XxXxX The next morning I woke up to a faint knocking on the door. I crawled out from under my comforter and walked towards the door. Opening the door, I found a small, and what I assumed to be a fourth year, standing out side my door. She had chopped dark-blonde hair, more of a brown than blonde though, but either way the color really brought out her emerald-gray eyes, that where really set in her pixie features. ‘Hi! I’m Victory Hale. I was just supposed to come up her and tell you that you are late for breakfast, no one else wanted to so I volunteered too and…’ That was all that I caught from the girl’s mouth before she started to talk even faster than she had been. My head began to spin, which she took notice of and commented on. ‘Are you alright? You know that’s probably because you haven’t eaten! That happens to me all the time! You know…’ And then she was off again. ‘J-just let me go get my wand.’ I said, cutting her off before she could speed off again. I walked over to my bed side and picked up my wand that I had put on the side-table last night. Once I picked up my wand, I walked back over to the girl, who was waiting at the door. ‘You ready to go down?’ She asked. Wow, a five worded sentence, I wonder if I will get lucky and she will talk like that for the rest of today! We walked down the stairs, only to discover that no one was there. ‘Everyone is probably down at breakfast, truly they have no patience, why just yesterday they…’ Nope, no such luck today! ‘W-why don’t we just go down there; breakfast should still be going on.’ I replied to stop her incoherent sentences. We walked out of the portrait and down the hall, towards the Great Hall, the girl named Victory still going on and on about something that had happened in Potions yesterday, or was it Transfiguration? Oh well – she was still talking, even after we had walked into the Great Hall and sat down. We had joined her, what I assumed to be her usual group, made up of mostly other fourth years with a few third years and one second year. I stared down at the empty gold plate that lay in front of me. I wasn’t really hungry, but I knew that I should eat something if I wasn’t going to pass out, again. My thoughts were interrupted from a giggling sound coming down from the other end of the table. I looked up only to be met by the same dark eyes of the blonde from last night, only this time she had brought more princesses with her. Personally, I hate it when girls giggle, whether it be flirting with a cute boy or an inside joke, it just grinds on my last nerve, which I don’t seem to have a lot of lately. I turned my attention back to the small group with which I was sitting in the middle off, when Victory began talking once again, only this time quieter and only to me. ‘So I see that you have caught the attention of Poinsettia.’ She said, barley above a whisper. ‘Poinsettia?’ I asked. Ok, maybe I was wrong. Vladimir is a lot better than Poinsettia, a lot. ‘Yes, Poinsettia Brown.’ No there is no way that she is Lavender Brown’s older sister. There is no way! ‘Ohh.’ I replied, once again pretending to be interested in the empty plate. ‘Yeah, she’s the girl that all the guys want, even some of the Slytherins!’ She said and continued to eat her breakfast toast. Ok – maybe – just maybe – she was related to Lavender – maybe. ‘Yeah, all the guys might want her, but she only has her eyes set on one of ‘em.’ She continued, noticing that I wasn’t planning to respond. ‘And – ah – who would that be?’ I asked, playing coy. ‘Charlie Weasley, of course.’ Of course, but seriously what is with them and Weasley boys? Lavender and Ron, and now Poinsettia and Charlie? Who next? Is their a Rose that could go with Percy? Or better yet, a Tulip and Daisy for Fred and George! Oh maybe– ‘Although – he is the only guy in the school that doesn’t seem to like her.’ She finished, noticing my facial expression. My expression began to relax from the jealously that had begun to boil-over. ‘Oh, that’s good, I guess.’ I replied half heartedly, once again trapped in my own thoughts. The rest of breakfast went by with out any more excitement. Since it was Sunday, I didn’t really know what to occupy my time with, so I decided to hang out with Victory a little bit longer. We hung outside with her small group, which only consisted of one other girl, whose name I had learned to be Honor Silverton. She was also a Gryffindor and was in her fourth year, the same as Victory, and she seemed to be crushing on the Quidditch players of our house, just like every other girl in Gryffindor. This was only obvious when the Quidditch boys came over to our secluded trio, well Honor’s cheeks turned a vibrant red, Victory’s did not. Instead of blushing she walked right over to one of the tallest of the five boys and threw her arms around his neck, his response was wrapping her up into a hug and swinging her around playfully. My lips turned up into a smirk. Well, I see that I’m not the only one that has a liking for older guys. They pulled away, each with a smile before turning back around to me. ‘Journey, I would like you to meet Joshua, my brother.’ Damn, wrong again. I sighed before looking over the young wizard in front of me. He was of average height, with mousy-brown hair which seemed to be short yet shaggy at the same time. His bangs fell to the right of his forehead just barely above his dark-gray eyes, which had a hint of green to them. That was once thing that the two siblings shared – their eyes. They were both very beautiful, they had, what seemed, to be the prefect features. ‘Nice to meet you Joshua.’ I said with a nod of my head, a bad habit that I had picked up that I used only when I met someone new. ‘Yeah, same to you too. Oh and you can just call me Josh, only Victory here ever really calls me Joshua anymore.’ He said pulling his sister into a side-ways hug. I smiled and look over to the other boys of the group, there was Vladimir and Charlie of course, and Josh, but there was two other boys that I hadn’t met. The first was the tallest of the group, he had shadow blonde hair, short, straight and layered, with his bangs covering his forehead and falling just above his eyebrows. He had very deep-hazel eyes, which seemed to almost be hidden beneath his blonde hair. You could tell he was a Quidditch player from the way his form were set, they seemed to be outlined in his choice of muggle cloths, which were made up of a button down pin-strip shirt, with short-sleeved and a fold-back collar, and a pair of dusty-jeans. His arms showed off there stored-strength when he set them across his chest, his blue-blood vessels showing clearly through his albino-colored skin. The second was a boy with a mess of shaggy dark-brown hair, which seemed to fall where it pleased. His bangs covered his topaz-blue eyes, which shown back with the Morning’s light. I couldn’t decide whether he was a Quidditch player or not. He was the shortest of the group, and didn’t seem very fit. His Sunday wear consisted of a navy blue short-sleeve shirt and a pair of off-tan shorts, which fell to his knees. ‘Good Morning Journey.’ Charlie said, turning my thoughts of the two new wizards to the ones that I had already met. ‘Wh- Oh yes, good morning!’ I said, forgetting for that I wasn’t Hermione here. Charlie was wearing a loose gray shirt, that showed you only a hint of what laid behind the shapeless fabric, and a pair of regular old jeans, which where probably Bill’s before they where his. ‘Morning.’ Vladimir replied, as if he was forced too, his arms, like the other blonde, where also crossed. His eyes were now a pale-blue, which really brought out the dark blue streaks in his hair, which seemed to be growing a little less dark with each second that passed. Vladimir was wearing a black long-sleeve shirt, and, like the rest of the boys, he had on a pair of baggy jeans, only they weren’t like the other boys in the way that they were spotless. No dirt, no grass stains, just the pure blue of fresh jeans. ‘Yes, ‘morning Vladimir.’ I said with a smirk. Wow, he looked like a vampire today too, with his long sleeves and perfect outfit, even his eyes would tell that he was a vampire – except that vampire’s eyes only get darker or lighter, not completely change colors every few hours. He looked back at me confused, not knowing what I was thinking must have gotten to him, before turning his focus to the grass surrounding his feet. I once again I let a smirk dance across my lips, causing him to glance up even more confused. ‘What?’ He whispered to me. Everyone had turned to their own conversations and had left us standing opposite the other. ‘Nothing.’ I said, trying to convince my face to soften into a smile instead of another smirk, it didn’t work. ‘Oh Journey,’ Charlie said, joining the already awkward conversation, ‘I would like you to meet Virgil Took,’ He nodded towards the boy with the mop of brown for hair, ‘and this is David Alister.’ He said, thrusting his thumb at the second blonde. Well, maybe they are both vampires, wow I’m gonna have to watch my neck closely now! I let out a small laugh. ‘What?’ Vladimir asked again, his eyes changing to a light azure color and his arms tightening across his chest. ‘Nothing.’ I smirked. This was going to be a very fun day. XxXxX AN so can anyone else tell that I’m reading Twilight? (DISCLAIMER -- Twilight is property of SM not me...I just like to play with certain parts of her word) I thought so! Reviews are my fuel! I love ‘em! So please if you can andor want leave one! I would really like it if you told me what you think of my original characters. Adieu for now >.<_Keeper_ I hung out with the group for the rest of the day until it was time for the boy’s Quidditch game. It was Gryffindor vs. Ravenclaw today. I thought that it was strange for them to have two games over the course of one weekend, but Charlie said that is how it always was when it came to Hogwarts Quidditch. The boys walked with us until we reached the stairs, we wished them good luck and went up to the Gryffindor stands, while they went down to get ready. ‘Oh, this is going to be so much fun!’ Honor said gripping the railing with white knuckles. ‘You act as if you have never seen a Quidditch match before Silverton.’ That was from Vladimir, who still had his arms tightly crossed against his chest. ‘But they are playing for the Cup!’ She retorted. ‘Which won’t even be given out until the end of the year, this is their third match!’ He replied evenly. Honor dropped her head, her enthusiasm now gone. She didn’t even have a come back for him. How much of a jerk is he? She didn’t even do anything. ‘Leave her alone Nyx.’ Victory glared at the young wizard, who held no shown expression on his face. ‘What ever Hale.’ He replied rolling his eyes, resting his crossed arms on the rail and turning his attention to the beginning game. I rolled my eyes, and looked out towards the field. The Gryffindor’s had just come out and were now circling the pitch, followed shortly by the Ravenclaws. Honor and Victory had left our foursome and had created a small group with a few other Gryffindor girls, and where now chatting and giggling, quite loudly. Probably about our time with the boys. Ahh! I hate giggling. I rolled my eyes once again and turned my attention back to the game. I skimmed over the Gryffindor players. There was only six. I wrinkled my eyebrow and stood, catching the attention of Vladimir. ‘What is it?’ He asked, for what must have been the hundredth time today. I began to count the players with my fingers, double checking – or actually triple checking. ‘What?’ He asked again, losing more of his patience. ‘Why do they only have six? I thought you needed seven.’ I said, my attention drifting to catch sight of the infamous Charlie Weasley, who was now flying around the pitch, his robes flying off behind him. ‘Didn’t you hear?’ He said, standing to his full height of five-nine. ‘About what?’ I said, now turning towards him. His eyes where now a vibrant-gold. Great! Another color to add to the list! ‘Jayson got hurt in the last game; they haven’t found someone to replace him yet. That’s what Bill and Charlie were talking about when you were in the hospital, don’t you remember?’ He replied tensely. ‘No, but still,’ I replied, shifting my eyes, ‘But that’s terrible!’ ‘Not if you have seen him play.’ He replied with a sneer, turning back to his original position of leaning on the wooden-rail. ‘Why are you always so mean?’ I demanded, leaning down next to him. ‘I’m not mean, I just don’t hold back. What does it matter to you?’ He replied, not making eyes contact with me. ‘Because, you where mean to one of my friends and I want a reason why.’ I replied, trying to focus on his eyes, they seemed to be changing to a scarlet, and I wasn’t about to let go on how red they could get. ‘You mean Honor? You just met her!’ He said, standing back up and towering over me, his eyes now a light-fiery red. ‘So? She still does not deserve to be treated that way! And what the HELL is wrong with your bloody eyes?’ I yelled, catching a few of the other Gryffindor’s attention. He glanced around at the other students before turning back to me. ‘Follow me.’ He snapped, turned and walked towards the underside of the bleachers. He was a few feet ahead of me, causing me to run to keep up with him. He has really long strides! How does he expect me to keep up with him in this crowd? Once I caught up to him he turned and ducked under the bleachers, I followed closely behind. It was a weird feeling; almost an energy-charge when I was around him that caused me to follow. Like a magnate. ‘You know, you are to smart for your own good!’ He hissed. ‘In what way would that be?’ I snapped, trying to stand up to his height. ‘My eyes – you know – aah!’ He yelled, and walked to the back wall. ‘You know, it’s not even really any of your business.’ He mumbled, with a loss of heart in his voice. I walked over to him, and gently placed my hand on his shoulder, causing him to turn around and face me, with his now emerald-green eyes. ‘I’m sorry, I didn’t mean to shout back there – I just got – frustrated, and sort of – yelled.’ I apologized. ‘Whatever.’ He replied, but in a gentler tone that his usual icy one. ‘No – it’s not. Wh-what are you? Where do you come from?’ I asked, not willing to let the subject die so soon. ‘Why does it concern you?’ He snapped. There was the icy tone again. ‘B-because –’ I took in a breath. ‘Because what?’ He said, crossing his arms once again. I took in one more breath – relaxed, almost, by what I was about to say – even though I probably shouldn’t. ‘Because – in my year, I am the smartest witch, and I know almost everything there, and back here I want to know the same.’ I replied, causing a confused look to come over his face. ‘You mean –’ He was starting to understand. ‘Yes – I’m from a different time.’ I said looking down – wondering how I could be so stupid – but still I held a feeling of trust for the young wizard. Dumbledore is not going to be happy about this. ‘What time are you from?’ He asked, gaining a curious tone with each word. ‘I’m from 1996.’ I replied, dropping down to sit on the cold wooden floor. ‘Oh.’ He replied joining me. ‘Yes, I got in a bit of a – a – dilemma in my time period. I had my time turner with me and I spun it to many times, falling back to far.’ Hiding my face in my hands I continued on. ‘And then I lost it! I was so stupid! You are always supposed to hold onto the turner when you fall back! So stupid!’ I said more to myself then him. ‘How are you going to get back then?’ He asked, moving closer to me. ‘I have to wait for a potion to brew, which could take months! Oh why didn’t I hold onto the tuner?’ I looked back up to him with a tear stained face – the trust was growing stronger with each word spoken. His eyes had now changed back to their original icy-blue, but now they held the glitter of softness – something no Malfoy had ever had. ‘I’m sorry.’ He said, pulling me into an awkward side-hug. He doesn’t do this a lot I bet. I leaned into the hug, not letting him show his vampire side again, just yet. ‘Yeah,’ I said, looking up into his, now, paling blue eyes, ‘So I told you mine…’ He looked back down at me, before releasing me to sit on my own once more. ‘I-I’m I’m A-a…’ He stuttered. ‘Yes?’ I said encouraging him. ‘I’m a Metamorphmagus.’ He replied, looking down at his hands tucked in his lap. ‘Is that all?’ I said with a slight smile to my voice. ‘I’m only a fourth.’ He replied, clearly still embarrassed. ‘What wrong with that? It’s a– wait – no one knows, do they?’ I questioned, he shook his head no. ‘But there is nothing wrong with that – why Tonks is too!’ I replied, trying to cheer him up. ‘You mean the fourth year? Nymphadora?’ I nodded. Yeah, she would be younger than me in this time, since I’m in Charlie’s year. ‘But she is full, I’m just a quarter.’ ‘But still it is a very rare – and special – gift.’ I continued. ‘But not when you can only change two things, then it’s nothing. It’s useless! And…’ ‘Yes?’ I said, moving a little closer to him. ‘And just weird to most, and different.’ He replied, embarrassed once more. ‘Not to me it isn’t.’ ‘I can’t even change anything of importance! What the point in having this ‘gift’ if it’s ineffectual?’ He looked up to me, as if I new the answer – which most of the time I would – only this being one of the few times that I didn’t. ‘So…what is the other thing that you can change, besides your eyes of course?’ I asked changing the subject. ‘My hair streaks.’ He muttered. ‘Only the blue part?’ I asked, looking up towards his blonde hair. ‘Yes.’ He replied, giving me an example by changing his blue streaks to a vibrant – gold and then back to their usual blue color. ‘Wow, you did that in less than three seconds! That’s amazing!’ I whispered. ‘I guess.’ He shrugged. ‘It is! But – wait – why do they usual stay blue, while your eyes – well your eyes…’ ‘I don’t know, they are always blue unless I change them by will. And my eyes – well my eyes change with my mood. I just can’t help it.’ Our conversation was broken by yelling coming from the bleachers. ‘CHARLIE WEASLEY HAS JUST CAUGHT THE SNITCH! GRYFFINDOR WINS! 175 TO 130!!!’ The announcer yelled over the speakers. ‘Hey, it looks like we didn’t need Daniels after all!’ He replied, only with a smile playing in his eyes now. I shoved him with my elbow and stood up, he soon followed suit. ‘You still need to be nicer thought.’ I warned playfully. ‘All I can promise is to try!’ He said with a shrug and a smirk. I rolled my eyes and walked out from behind the bleachers. We walked back to the place where we had originally left the group, neither of us wanting to ask the other if our secrets where safe. Once we got down the crowded stairs, we found them, both the fourth year girls and the Quidditch players. Virgil and David had Charlie hoisted up on their shoulders, who soon ushered them to let him down once he caught my eye. ‘We Won!’ He said, running up to me and Vladimir, ‘Where have you two been?’ Did I detect a small hint of jealously? I could get use to him being jealous! ‘We just got caught up in the crowd.’ Vladimir replied, turning his now gem-green eyes to me. ‘Oh, well we are all going back to the castle, you want to come?’ He said, eying Vladimir. ‘We’ll catch up to the group later. Oh and Congratulations Charlie!’ I replied. ‘Thank you. I guess I’ll see you guys later.’ He said before turning, reluctantly, and walking away, a hint of annoyance to his usual graceful stride. ‘He’s rather jealous.’ Vladimir said; looking at Charlie as he walked away, ‘He doesn’t want us to be alone; he thinks that I might make a move on you.’ ‘You know, for someone who can read people like a book, you sure don’t know how to deal with emotions.’ I replied, beginning to walk towards the opposite exit. He looked down at me, clearly confused by my response. ‘You mean – why I act the way that I do?’ He replied after a few minutes. I nodded ‘Hatred is a very underestimated emotion.’ He quoted I laughed ‘Quoting Jim Morrison now are we?’ I said, holding back another laugh. Weird – an hour ago he wouldn’t even say more than three words to me, now I’m talking to him like I would to Harry. My thoughts caused me to laugh once more. ‘What is up?’ He asked playfully. ‘Oh – just thinking that how an hour ago we couldn’t even look at each other – and now – now we are acting like best friends!’ I let out another laugh. ‘I don’t have a problem, if you don’t.’ He replied honestly. I smiled, assuring him that I was. I couldn’t really explain the feeling; it wasn’t butterflies – that feeling only showed when I was around Charlie. No – it was more of a comfort – a security. It was a brother kind of feel – one that I could defiantly get use to. We walked quietly through the crowd until we reached the west-exit. One we were out of the crowd the questions began to fly. ‘Why did you spin the turner than? What happened in your year?’ He asked, as if he had known all along. ‘I-I would rather not say, its – its really embarrassing.’ I looked down to my shoes, trying to hide my blush. ‘See – now you have peeked my curiosity – you have to tell me!’ He said in his now pleading Scottish accent, perfect in tone. ‘No – anyway you would just laugh.’ I replied, sheepishly. ‘Try me.’ He dared. ‘Fine – I had drawn a picture of my –’ I said, hesitating. ‘Of your…?’ He just wasn’t going to let this drop. ‘My-my crush and I – then this girl found it and showed it to the whole class – one that he was in.’ I continued Technically it wasn’t a lie, it just wasn’t telling the whole truth! I kept telling my self over and over. He looked down at me, examining my features, looking for a hint as to who it could be. ‘He’s from this time era, isn’t he.’ He replied after a few minutes, in a tone that I didn’t even have to reply to – because he already knew that it was the truth. I looked up at him, speechless for the first time that day. How can he read everyone so well, but not know how to deal with their feelings? If only he would show his true colors more – like he had with me! ‘We hardly know each other, and we get along so well, but to everyone else you are so – so…’ I was at a lost of words. ‘I don’t know. I just – I-I think –’ ‘What?’ I replied, a little sharper then I had meant it to be. He looked down at my annoyed face, ‘I guess – you would have to have grown-up the way I did.’ He responded after a few awkward minutes. ‘Oh? And what was that like?’ I replied, using the same tone. ‘It was not the best for me – and it defiantly wasn’t one that was held in high esteem in the Wizarding World.’ He said. ‘You mean like a muggle home? What’s wrong with that?’ I replied, now a little more understanding – hey I had to put up with Malfoy, how could you get any worse? ‘No – I’m a half-blood.’ He replied calmly. ‘So? What was it like?’ I pressed. ‘Well – I grew up with my dad, my mum died when I was born.’ He replied, a tone of sealed pain. My eyes shimmered with sympathy, which he new immediately, he nodded and continued. ‘He taught me – well honestly – he taught me to watch out for my self. Not let my emotions get in the way of becoming a great wizard. And I guess I just keep by his philosophy, I don’t really know why, habit – probably. I have never really gotten along with everyone; it took Charlie almost two years to get me to talk to him.’ He replied, his voice growing in humor and his eyes changing to a light-silver. ‘Yeah, well – that must be hard to live up to.’ I replied, glad that I was a muggleborn, I had nothing to live up to but what I thought was right. ‘Yeah, I dread going home on the breaks, summer especially. Usually I just go to the Burrow with Bill and Charlie; it feels more like home than anything else it seems. The only difference is that I have blonde hair – and they have red.’ He added playfully. I smiled, remembering the Burrow. It was just as he said – one family, even if you aren’t related, they treat you just the same. ‘You’ve been there before, haven’t you?’ He said, noticing my smiling-eyes. ‘What are you a seer?’ I replied sarcastically. He looked down. ‘I’m not right, am I?’ I asked hesitantly. ‘No – I-I guess it comes from hiding my emotions, I can read others easily – even when they are trying so desperately to hid them.’ ‘Yeah – but why are we getting along so well, you said it your self. You don’t get along with really anyone.’ I pressed again. ‘I don’t know, there was just a-a, I can’t explain it.’ He said running his hands through his hair and giving it a slight tug. ‘A change in the air almost – like an energy charge.’ I said – I knew it, I had felt it too. ‘Trust.’ He replied, finding the perfect word at last. ‘Yeah, trust.’ I said, trying out the word. We looked at each other for a few silent seconds – his silver eyes mixing with my honey-hazels. Once we broke apart, I looked up to see where we had walked to. ‘Midnight’s Sky.’ Vladimir whispered to the portrait of the Fat Lady, which opened at the sound of her password. We walked into the dimly-lit room. I looked around only to discover that it was empty. ‘That’s strange. It is usually always packed after a game. I wonder where everyone is.’ I asked. ‘They probably all went down to the Black Lake, it is a hot day.’ He replied. ‘Well, we could just hang out here.’ I offered, hoping to be able to talk to him some more. ‘Sure.’ He replied with a smile and started to walk towards one of the maroon couches. I followed short behind, and after we were both situated we began another round of what seemed to be a game of twenty-questions. XxXxX Is she seriously attracted to him? He looks like an albino! The young wizard though, running his hands through his shaggy-hair. I thought that she liked Charlie. Oh man what is he gonna say when he here’s about this? He tugged on his long locks before looking back up at the pair. Well, one things for sure, I am sure as hell not going to be the one to tell him! Pushing himself up slowly, he began to ascend the steps back to his dorm room. Maybe I will be able to hide long enough for someone else to tell him! Taking one last look at the young pair, Jayson turned the corner and continued up the steps. XxXxX ‘We have company.’ Vladimir said, turning towards the stairs. ‘Vampire…’ I whispered. ‘What was that?’ He replied good-heartedly. Damn, he wasn’t supposed to hear that. ‘Just –…’ I stammered. ‘I thought that we were past that sis.’ He replied sarcastically. I liked having a ‘Harry’ back here; it makes me feel – not alone. I smiled. ‘All I said was vampire.’ He looked back confused, almost. ‘Vampire?’ He repeated. ‘No offence intended – I-I just meant that, well – you are different.’ Another confused look. ‘Well – your skin, it’s sort of pale, and when I first saw your eyes they got dimmer-not lighter, and you can read others so, so well and now super bat hear? What am I suppose to think?’ I replied, trying to create humor to the already awkward situation. ‘Vampire…Vampire.’ He repeated, testing the word. I gulped, was he offended? ‘I like it, no one else is ever that honest with me.’ He replied after a few minutes. ‘Really?’ ‘Yeah, Vladimir – Vampire, makes enough sense to me.’ He replied with a smile. He even has sharp K-9’s - wicked! ‘Yeah, only now I have to come up with something that goes with Journey.’ He said braking my thoughts. I sighed – I have been honest so far, what’s a little more going to do? ‘M-my names not Journey.’ I mumbled. ‘It’s not?’ He replied, showing true curiosity – his eyes even changing to a bright brown, ‘What is it then?’ ‘Hermione.’ I replied. ‘Hermione? As in the one from Shakespeare’s play?’ ‘Yeah, my parents both love Shakespeare, maybe a little too much.’ I said, more so to my self then Vladimir. ‘You have a name like Hermione, and you choose Journey?’ He asked. ‘Sorry – it’s all I could think of!’ I retorted – a little louder than it should have been. ‘No-no, don’t take it that way, I like it.’ He replied. ‘Thank.’ Ok – there that tone was again. A brother tone – not one that creates butterflies or makes my heart go thirty miles per hour. I like his tone – it sounds – safe. ‘Your welcome.’ He smiled. ‘And Vladimir is – is – well it’s –’ I couldn’t find the right word. ‘Vampirish?’ He smirked – he was not going to give that up anytime soon. So I did the only thing I could do – I stuck my tongue out. ‘So – who did you hear, vampire?’ ‘My guess would be Jayson, since he is would be the only one left here, if everyone’s still celebrating.’ ‘Vampire.’ I repeated, sinking down onto the couch and etching my face into a pouting expression. Which in the end, only caused both of us to break out into laughter. I could get use to 1988, I really could. XxXxX AN ~ sorry I know that the story is moving along slowly – but that’s just the way that I write! Hope you like it so far! Please leave a review if you can. >.< Adieu _Keeper_ ‘Where is everyone?’ I asked. It had been almost an hour since we had seen anyone. We had talked about everything under the sun. Hogwarts in the future. Hogwarts in the past. Literally everything. Even out blood-status. Which, to my surprise, he was very intrigued by me being a muggleborn. ‘You want to go down and check the lake?’ Vladimir said, standing to his full height, after sitting for a while. I nodded and followed suit. XxXxX We walked in silence down to the lake, only to be met by the noise of the celebrating crowd. I smiled as I saw the familiar red-head come striding down the hill to join us. ‘Hey Journey! You made it!’ He smiled, his jealousy now forgotten. ‘Yeah, we didn’t know where you guys were. We had been waiting in the common room for you for almost an hour.’ I lied. Not like I wanted to, but I didn’t want to see the red-head become redder. Anyway, part of it was true. Charlie looked over at the blonde, who was, to my surprise, a few inches shorter than the Weasley. ‘Hey Vladimir.’ He said in a distant tone. There was that jealousy again. Well, a girl can only hope! ‘Yeah, hey.’ Vladimir mumbled, he had seen Charlie’s jealously as clear, maybe even clearer, as I had. Charlie gave one last glower at the blonde before softening his tone. ‘Well, you’re here now. Come one you two, lets go hang with the rest of the group.’ ‘Wow, that was a change.’ I whispered, letting my fake-expression drop into a frown. ‘Yeah, who know he could get so jealous over a girl that he had just met. Although he will meet, he just hasn’t yet.’ He’s right. What will happen when he meets me in the future? Ahhh! ‘Hey what will happen when he meets you for the first time? Or would it be the second?’ Damn I hate when he does that. ‘Vampire.’ I mumbled while crossing my arms. ‘You know, you say that enough, and it’s gonna stick.’ He replied now following after the red-head, who kept turning around to gaze at us. I huffed once more before following him. I hate his long strides. Once we reached the rest of the Gryffindors, a few Hufflepuffs and Ravenclaws – even a few Slytherins. I leaned over and elbowed Vladimir, hard, in the side, maybe a little too hard. ‘Ouch, you know you could bruise someone with that elbow?’ He complained, rubbing his side. ‘Hey – why are there Slytherins here.’ I whispered, not wanting to catch any of the other students’ attentions. ‘Yeah – I’m alright, a little bruise. Nothing to worry about! I think that I will live.’ He was just not gonna let that drop. I crossed my arms and blew one of my loose curls out of my eyes, only to have it fall where it originally was. ‘Sorry, ok? But why are they here?’ I spat. ‘Not all Slytherins bite you know, we get a few nice ones here and there.’ He replied, pain now long forgotten. ‘That’s weir—’ I started, only to be stopped by my nightmare come to life. I froze, eyes glazed over with thought. What was I going to do now? ‘What the he—’ Vladimir also began, before he noticed what my eyes were fixed on. I could see from the corner of my eye that he had let loose a slight shutter up his spin. Guess I’m not the only one that doesn’t like little Ms. Princess. Poinsettia (Seriously, where her parents drunk when they named here?) was walking up to our trio, which of course, Charlie Weasley just had to be a part of, with two other girls, ones that I was glad I didn’t know. Get ready for the insult you know its coming; you have to be quick on you feet Hermione! Think fast. Come on think – ‘’Ello Charlie.’ She giggled, walking over to them and cuddling up into the red-head’s arm. ‘Yeah, Hello.’ He said trying to pull form the witch’s grip, failing in the end. I could now see that Vladimir had a slight quiver to his body now, and a smile dancing upon his lips. Waiting to let out a laugh of just how stupid that blonde could be. I was trying to do the same thing, only I was better at it than the wizard. I suppose only because I had shared a room with her younger-version for five years now, you just king of get use to it I presume. ‘Oh hello Vladimir!’ One of the other two girls giggled. Seriously what the hell is wrong with them? Can they not just speak? All she received back was a nod of his head, causing his hair to fly everywhere, and a exasperated ‘Hey Iris’. I looked up at him. You could tell that he had taken no real notice of the young girl. She was of normal height and very slender. She had perfectly straight dark-brown hair, and dark eyes, almost as dark as Poinsettia’s pair. All around she was a beautiful young lass; except for the giggling. The other was also a blonde, but a much darker one than Poinsettia, and she had light gray eyes which held a hint of brown splashed to them. ‘Hello Charlie.’ The third of her group giggled. Ok! Seriously these girls are starting to piss me off! ‘Hey, Rose.’ He replied, still trying to gain freedom from the witch’s grip. The blonde snapped her head up in a warning. My – my isn’t someone possessive. Once again a laugh filled both Vladimir and me, and this time it escaped us. Poinsettia let her glare fall from the other blonde, towards me and the vampire-eyed wizard. ‘Hey Charlie! Come over here!’ Another Gryffindor boy, who I guessed was Josh, yelled towards our heater – group. ‘Coming!’ He said, thankfully and ran off towards the boy, glad to be away from her and the pending argument. She watched him run off, waving as he went, before walking over to the two of us, letting a smirk play across her bright red-lips. I gulped. Here it comes. ‘Well – well what have we hear.’ She was now directly in front of us. We stiffened our last few laughs. She walked over to me, enjoying the fact that she could tower over me. ‘Don’t you remember what we talked about last night?’ She whispered, but still it was loud enough for the whole group to here. ‘Why would he be interested in a thing like you? I mean just look at you! Your hair’s a mess,’ She continued, picking up my loose curl and tossing it aside, ‘And your robes! Did you sleep in them? They look like you put them through hell!’ I looked down, she was right. I hadn’t had anything to change into, so of course I was still wearing the same thing. I looked up only to be met by her black-eyes, that where even sharper daggers than before. It felt as if than moment lasted forever. That was, until Vladimir stepped in. I hadn’t noticed that the young wizard had been smoldering in his anger, and was ablaze in less than four seconds. He had his back turned towards me, but I could still see that his streaks where a dark wine-red and I could, without a doubt, guess that his voice would be layered in venom. But I was wrong. All he did was stand in front of me, showing of his full 5’9 height, and glaring down at the young witch. Apparently, that was all that it took to make her back-down. ‘I-I g-got to-to g-g-go.’ She stuttered, clearly mesmerized by his vampire-eyes. Poinsettia, followed closely by the other two girls, scurried off to another group of Gryffindor girls. Preparing to spread the gossip – no doubt. Vladimir let out a humph, and turned back around to face me. My mouth dropped again – you think I would be use to it by now – at the sight of his eyes. They went from a Midnight black to a lighter gray – which paled until they returned to their original clear blue. His streaks went from their wine-red to a light gold – a color that blended nicely with his bleach-blonde, but not back to their usual navy-blue. My face was etched with a new found puzzlement, I couldn’t figure out why they didn’t go back to their navy blue. And more importantly – wouldn’t everyone notice? ‘What?’ I was really beginning to hate that word, he uses it to much. ‘Why aren’t your streaks going back to their usual blue?’ I whispered, not wanting to be over heard even in the busyness of the crowd. ‘Steam.’ He replied. ‘What? What are you – oh…’ He was still searing from the incident with the three flower-named girls. I looked towards the group that the three girls were walking towards – which Charlie just happened to be standing in, shocker! – and then back at Vladimir. ‘So…what are we going to do? They all know that you have blue streaks, not gold ones.’ I said, breaking the deafening silence that had accumulated. ‘Oh…’ They darkened until they reached their original blue, ‘better?’ he said with a smirk. ‘Yes.’ I replied briskly, while crossing my arms. ‘Ok then…lets go.’ He replied starting of towards the group that I had just been looking at. ‘You know – I’m not feeling well – I should really go back to the common room. What was the password again? Twilight or something?’ I replied, half sarcastically – half seriously. ‘Oh no, you’re not getting out of this one that easily.’ He replied turning back to me and pulling me along by my wrist. ‘Oh, no wasn’t it Eclipse? No, no, no…it was Midnight Moon or New Moon?’ I replied – still believing that I could escape and get back to the common room before I had to deal with the group again. ‘I got it! It was Midnight Sun. Right?’ I replied – all sarcasm lost. He looked back at me with a smirk and his grip tightened. I tried to pull myself out of his firm grip – but in the end failing. ‘Oh! I already dealt with her once – twice! If you count yesterday that is…’ I complained. Usually I wasn’t one to run from a fight – I always was the one to out smart the other – but this girl – aahh – this girl was different. Way different. She was a Brown and she was after a Weasley. I really did not want to get in the middle of her – um, well – pursuit. Bad things can happen when you get in the way of a Brown – really bad things. Once he had dragged me up to the group – receiving a few glares from me and a few curious looks from all the other celebrators – he let go of my wrist and stood – steadily – behind me. I wasn’t going anywhere – even if I wanted to. I let out a sigh of defeat and leaned back into him. It really did feel nice to have a Harry-like friend back here. It was a feeling of strong security – and I enjoyed it. That meant that I hadn’t need to deal with the Flowers while he was around – and I was already planning on being glued to his side until my time was up. My time here. Gosh I don’t want to leave, even if Poinsettia is here – this is where I can learn so much of the past, and Vladimir and all the others are here – and Charlie, of course. He actually likes me here – there’s a chance here – in the future, not even a hint. Here it was almost promised – well except for the whole Poinsettia thing – I was in the clear. Apparently I had had my face twisted into my thoughts because next thing I knew everyone was staring at me. ‘What?’ I asked, blushing a deep shade of red. Poinsettia and her fellow flowers broke in to a not-so-silent giggle, while the other two boys in the group, David and Virgil, looked at me with their eyebrows raised slightly while Charlie turned so red that I thought his hair was going to be pale, compared to his face at least. I turned my head up to Vladimir, realizing now what everyone was staring at. I was leaning against him, my head coming just to the underside of his chin, but still I was leaning, comfortably, into his chest. Damn. I quickly stood up, moving a few inches away from the teenage wizard – actually more like three feet times a few inches. I looked back up to red-head – who was now completely red from head to neck – and was now glaring at the blonde. Vladimir stood still, with all eyes on him, but still he didn’t move – not even a twitch. He blinked a few times before breaking the silence. ‘Oh – yeah, congrats David, you had some wicked saves.’ He said turning towards the only other blonde-boy of the group, he, apparently, was the keeper for the Gryffindor team. ‘Y-yeah, thanks.’ He replied, not knowing what else to say. The girls continued to giggle. I turned towards them and glared – Poinsettia looked point-blankly at me and twisted her lips into a sneer, before walking over to Charlie and grabbing hold of his arm – which also seemed to be a light red. Surprisingly he didnt push her off. Now it’s my turn to be jealous – or better yet – take revenge. I turned my lips up into a sneer as well and leaned back – gently resting on the blonde’s chest. Vladimir looked down at me, puzzled. We locked eyes for a second before he let a grin play across his fair lips – he had figured out my plan. In response to my previous action, he let his left arm wrap – gently – around the upper part of my waist, across my stomach. I smiled a thank you, before turning back to Poinsettia – who, now, had her mouth dropped. The same as everyone else in the group. They were stunned. The two Quidditch boys let a grin dance across their face – they where ok with this. The two giggling girls still had their mouths dropped – they seemed astonished. Poinsettia also gave a smile, but more as if she was letting her guard down – who could date one boy while trying to win another, was probably her thoughts right now. And Charlie – well, lets just say he looked like he really wanted to tear the blonde to pieces – really wanted too. Who knew he could get so jealous over someone he just met. Not me, at least. I looked back up at Vladimir – hoping that he would react to his friend’s jealousy. Nope, all he did was look down at me with a your-choice-your-consequence in his, now, azure-blue eyes. He was going to let me do the talking, whether it be because this was my fault or he just didn’t know what to say – I couldn’t be sure. All eyes turned on me – while I opened and closed my mouth, trying to find the right words. Ok – so if I say that he is my boyfriend, then Charlie will probably explode – if I say that he is my best friend, a brother-like even, then I will have the flower on my back. Ok come on Hermione – THINK! You're good at it! You do it all the time! Which will have the better consequence? Come on, think! Charlie relaxing. Poinsettia being evil. Charlie relaxing. Poinsettia being evil. Ok this is harder then it should be! ‘So, are you two – a couple?’ Virgil asked – first time he had spoken since I had come up to the group. I looked back up to him – he was either being a gentleman and letting me choose my own words – or – he was being an older brother picking on his sister for opening her big mouth – or better yet – letting her actions speak for her. I was hoping for the first – I could use someone on my side right now. ‘Well…we – um – we…’ Surprisingly, that was from the one with Vampire-eyes. ‘Yes, we are.’ I replied haughtily – glower aimed at Poinsettia. Here was my choice; now all that was left was the consequence. I can take it – I looked back up to the blonde – he was smiling his faked-assurance. Yeah, I could take it. I let my gaze sweep the secluded-group I think. XxXxX AN Ok so I have one favor – just because I’m curious – which is your favorite character? Leave a review with their name – and what you like about them. Sorry I just love feed back – and I really want to know if anyone likes my characters as much as I do. I’ll reveal mine in the next chapter – if anyone truly cares. >.< Well, adieu for now _Keeper_ Dedication: This chapter dedicated to Lily Rose Potter – I bet that you are an excellent writer – I wish that I could read your stories…but being under 17 I can't…keep writing though. This one’s for you… XxXxX After the party we all walked back up to the common room – Vladimir having one arms wrapped around my waste – keeping up the façade. Poinsettia was trying to wrap herself around Charlie – who kept making excuses to go talk with Bill – who was with the rest of the Quidditch Team. Once we went inside – the password I soon learned was Midnight’s Sky – I retreated to my room. Leaving the rest of our group in the common room. Once I was secured in my room – door closed and locked, window curtains pulled-out and draped down – I fell back onto my bed. ‘Oh! What am I going to do?’ I thought aloud hiding behind my hands. ‘Well – you could start by changing dear.’ I heard a motherly-voice replied. I sat up quickly to find out who else was in my room. Professor McGonagall stood at the foot of my bed, hands crossed at her hips – smiling like usual. ‘Oh! Did you find anything? I don’t want to bother you to much.’ I said, not wanting to be a burden. ‘Yes, actually a full trunk’ She replied looking down towards the floorboards. I stood and walked over to where she was. There, right next to her foot, was a trunk. I looked back up at her – asking permission to snoop through them. She nodded and I unlatched the trunk. Inside were three school robes and a lot of different style muggle cloths. Nice one from the look of it. ‘Wow, this is beautiful! Where did you find it?’ I said, pulling out a dress that had been folded and hidden in the bottom. I had pulled out a dark blue silk dress – it had one strap that went up over the shoulder and it flowed down to the floor, falling out into a small pool of blue. It would probably fit perfectly! ‘Well – I had a little help collecting all of this. Sorry for not having them ready earlier today.’ ‘It’s fine, thank you! Thank you so much! But I do have one question.’ I asked hesitantly. ‘Go ahead Hermione.’ ‘Why is there a dress in here? I thought that I would just be getting some school robes.’ ‘Well, we are having a Christmas Ball, and I thought you might want to go – especially if young Mr. Weasley were to ask you.’ She answered. How did she know everything? I looked down – trying to hide my blush. ‘I do have one more question.’ ‘I’m sure you have a lot Hermione.’ She replied with a patient smile. ‘Well – how do you know that I’m Hermione? How does Dumbledore know anything? What exactly is going on?’ Ok that was three – maybe I’d pushed the limit. ‘You will learn all of this in due time, oh I almost forgot – here is your schedule.’ She said, pulling out a small parchment and handing it to me. I looked it over and then looked back up smiling. She retuned my smile and nodded. ‘Dumbledore and I will send for you when the time is right. Get some sleep tonight Hermione – you will need it tomorrow.’ She said and then was gone I fell back onto my bed annoyed; my dress – which I had been holding the whole time – fell perfectly on top of me. And then I was out. XxXxX I woke up to a banging on my door. I had apparently fallen asleep – the dress was still spread across my chest. I set it aside and stood – stumbling over to the door where I was met by a very anxious Victory Hale. ‘Journey – Journey come quick! The boys are fighting! No ones doing anything! I need your help! I went up to see Josh and they where there – yeah – fighting and…’ Ok this was too much for just getting up. I pulled my hand up to hush the young fourth year. ‘What are you talking about?’ I said rubbing my eyes and letting a yawn escape. ‘Come on!’ Victory grabbed my wrist and yanked me from my room. ‘Victory!’ I yelled, she wasn’t going to relax her grip no matter how hard I pulled away. She pulled me down the stairs, across the common room – receiving a few glances as we went – and up the second set of stairs towards the boy’s dorms. XxXxX Half an hour after Journey (or Hermione as he now knew her) had left, Vladimir walked up the boy’s set of stairs and down the hall to his dorm. He paused at the door – stopped by the voices coming from inside. ‘Why didn’t you tell me once we got back?’ That was Charlie for sure. ‘I didn’t want to say anything in front of everyone down there.’ Jayson. ‘He should know how I feel.’ Charlie again. ‘Charlie, relax – anyway how can you have feelings for her already – you just met her!’ A third voice joined in. Vladimir leaned closer to the door hoping to figure out who it belonged to. ‘Yeah – well…’ You could tell that the red-head was blushing – for he was stuttering. Vladimir smirked – he knew him to well. ‘Relax.’ Jayson. ‘Yeah, everything will play out – ask her to the Christmas Ball – she might say yes.’ The third voice again. ‘David Alister – that’s who it is!’ Vladimir thought. ‘But she’s coupled with Nyx already.’ Charlie again. ‘So? Just play up her jealously!’ Jayson. Vladimir stood up from his original slouching position. ‘You better not – then I will kill you Charlie Weasley!’ ‘Yeah – ask Poinsettia instead! They don’t really seem to get along – that would be perfect!’ Jayson. ‘Jayson Daniels! Shut the hell up!’ ‘I don’t know –’ ‘Good Charlie, keep going with that! Turn it into a no. Oh, if Hermione finds out she will kill you!’ Vladimir had just met her as well – but still – they both knew that there was a connection. A sibling one – not a Romeo and Juliet kind. But he still could read her enough to tell that she cared for him – and that Charlie Weasley was the reason she was here. And he was going to make sure no harm came to his time-traveling sister. ‘It will work! Just give it a try!’ Jayson. ‘I warned you Jayson! Well, in my head – but still!’ ‘Jayson that might not work…’ ‘Well, just try it.’ ‘It usually does work with girls. Well – most of the time…’ David. ‘Well I guess I could…’ That was it – Vladimir could take it no more. He threw the door opened and strode in with his usual vampire-grace. Heading strait for the red-head. Everyone froze – not knowing if he had been listening or whether he had just come up the stairs. ‘H-hey Nyx.’ David said. ‘Yeah – play nice now.’ Vladimir could feel the change in his body – the one which indicating that his Metamorphmagus side – all one fourth of it – was going to change, whether he wanted it to or not. Only one thing could cause that. Steam. Vladimir tried to clam himself down – but his steaks began to lighten until they turned a pale blue – while his face fell into a scowl of annoyance. ‘Oh is some one upset over the brunette?’ Jayson asked – provoking the blonde. His streaks began to change to a light wine-red and his eyes to a dark gray. ‘I don’t even see what the big deal is – she’s a girl – nothing special.’ He smirked ‘Ja-Jayson stop.’ David warned. Too late. Vladimir and Jayson where already on the floor, tossing and turning – fighting for the win. It happened so fast that neither Charlie nor David knew who threw the first punch. This went on for ten minutes – while all the other boys of Gryffindor gathered in the room and outside the door. And soon – me. XxXxX ‘VICTORY WHAT-EVER-THE-HELL-YOUR-MIDDLE-NAME-IS HALE! IF YOU THINK THAT I AM GOING UP THERE YOU ARE OUT OF YOUR MIND!’ I yelled, being drug by the – strangely strong – fourth year. ‘Alice.’ She replied calmly. ‘What?’ I said, digging my foot into the last step before we reached the dorms. ‘Alice – my middle name.’ She replied smugly. ‘Why you – you! I was being….ahh!’ I said throwing my arms in the air. My arms quickly dropped when I caught sight of what was down the hall. The very last door on the left was blocked by about ten boys. ‘See…I told you – but no! You didn’t want to go – even though it’s your boyfriend…but no…’ She was off again. I overlooked her incoherent sentence and took off down the hall. Once I reached the group – which was growing rapidly – I shoved through the crowd, trying to reach the door. After being pushed and pulled I fell into the doorway – literally. My head flew up – throwing my curls everywhere – only to be met by a scene that was even more confusing. There on the floor Vladimir and Jayson where rolling around – Charlie joining in now and then trying to break it off. And the boy, referred to earlier as David, looking like he was trying to dissolve into the wall. I pulled myself up and ran over to the struggle. ‘Vladimir!’ I said trying to pull on his shoulders. ‘JAYSON!’ Charlie yelled, pulling him off only to loose his grip and have him go right back onto the blonde. I sunk to my knees and began to pull them apart – Charlie opposite of my doing the same. We finally pulled them apart – each of us holding one of them back. Charlie holding back Jayson and myself holding back Vladimir. Jayson was still struggling to gain his freedom back and thrash out at the blonde again – while I just stood in front of Vladimir pushing him back and trying to calm him down with my words. ‘Here – come on.’ Charlie said – holding Jayson by the elbows and pulling him out of the room. David – who had been trying to vanish – had now found his voice because he was issuing everyone out. I turned my attention back to the steaming blonde. His hair was now the golden-blonde that it had been earlier and his eyes where a dark blue. ‘Vladimir – Vladimir!’ I snapped, trying to gain his attention. He looked down at me and I took notice of the extent of his injures. My hands flew to my mouth while a gasp escaped. The wizard had a swollen lip that seemed to get redder with each second – his left eye was a dark purple which consumed his whole eye – and his nose was bleeding from a one of Jayson’s hits. ‘Oh, Vladimir.’ I said gently. He huffed and sat on the edge of the closes bed – hiding his face in his hands. ‘Vampire?’ I joked, trying to get him to calm all the way down. He looked up at me with a remorseful expression. I let my smile drop and I sat – quietly – next to him. ‘Well…’I started – breaking the silence, ‘It could have…well…maybe – umm…what did happen?’ ‘Nothing.’ He replied coldly. ‘You can’t say that,’ I pressed, ‘I walk in and you and Jayson are in a tussle – don’t you dare say nothing happened.’ ‘It’s – well –’ He began before hiding behind his pale hands once more. ‘You can tell me anything – you know that!’ I pushed. ‘It’s Charlie.’ He whispered loud enough for me to hear it – but not loud enough to be heard by any eavesdropping ears. ‘What? What do you mean it’s Charlie?’ I replied offensively. How could Charlie even be a part of this! ‘I don’t think us pretending –’ He looked over to me, ‘was such a great idea.’ ‘Why? Wait, what do you mean exactly?’ I questioned. ‘Jayson tried to talk Charlie into making you jealous.’ He replied – now unusually calm. ‘What? Oh – oh– I’m so, so sorry Vladimir. I shouldn’t have opened my mouth.’ Here was my consequence. I reached up and cradled his jaw with my quivering hand – this – all of this was my fault. ‘Yeah – well I shouldn’t have gone along with it anyway.’ He replied – his face etched in guilt. I quickly pulled my hand away. We both sat silently next to each other – hands folded – thinking quietly to ourselves. ‘Vladimir…’ I whispered – letting a tear slid down my embarrassed cheek. ‘Hermione.’ He whispered back – letting me know that he was going to be alright. I looked over to him – his eyes shown with compassion, he didn’t like to see me this way – his azure eyes had told me all that I needed. We both seemed to fall into a comforting hug – holding each other for a few minutes. ‘Thank you.’ I whispered – leaning back onto his shoulder after we had pulled apart. ‘Anytime.’ He replied, gently setting his hand on my unruly curls – and holding me like a concerned brother. Nothing was going to happen to me as long as he was around. Nothing. XxXxX ‘Jayson – I am taking your idea.’ Charlie whispered – turning back to the shorter boy from his hiding place behind their room’s door. ‘Let’s just hope that it works.’ He replied, tightening his fist and stalking off down the stairs and towards the common room. Jayson just nodded and took his turn hiding behind the door to watch the rest of the scene un-fold. This was going to get interesting! The boy let his lips turn up into a smirk and walked down after the red-head. Very interesting. XxXxX AN ~ ok so now for my favorite character: ~ I just figured out that my favorite character you won’t meet until Chapter 12 (sorry-that’s what happens when you can type fast and you get a few burst of creativity!!) ~ But my second favorite for sure is ~ ~ Vladimir Nyx ~ Character Fact: Vladimir was based upon my best friend – we are really close and we have a similar relationship to Hermione and Vladimir’s. He also has a different sort of twist to him – just like Vladimir does – except his eyes don’t change colors like Vladimir’s do (but that would be seriously wicked if they did!) Well until the next chapter ~ _Keeper_ Vladimir and I hung out for another hour before saying good night and going our separate ways. Once I got up the stairs to the girl’s dorms, I went straight up to my room and ended up staring at the ceiling for another hour just pondering what all had happened in the course of one day. Vladimir and I had grown so close in just a few short hours. Charlie liked me – but was now going to toy with my feelings. And Poinsettia was – well she was a regular ol’ minx! This day started off high and got worse very quickly. I pushed my self up and out of my bed, walking over to my window I pulled back the curtain and gaze out at the Midnight’s Sky. One thing that never seemed to change was the stars. Sure, some burn out and others were born – but they are still always there. They are what gives the seer’s their visions and young wizards their dreams. I sighed. If only I could be as such – I would be an inspiration instead of the brain. If only…If only…If only… XxXxX The next few days seemed to always copy the one before. Victory always woke me up and walked with me to breakfast. Then I went with Victory to our class – which we shared all of but Transfiguration. I didn’t see a lot of Vladimir except at meals – and even then his eye looked perfectly fine – weird because it had been bruised pretty badly before. And then after the day I would go straight to my room. Not once was I called by Dumbledore or McGonagall in these three days. This didn’t help when I went to sleep at night – worrying as to what my future should hold – especially when it wasn’t my time that my future was in. XxXxX I woke up to the sun shinning in from my eastern-set window. Strange – Victory is usually always here by now. I said pulling my self out of bed and stumbling over to my trunk. I had just unlatched it when there was a quiet knock on the door. Ahhh – running just a bit late. But who could blame her? It is Saturday after all! I stood and walked over to the door letting the short-haired fourth year in. Today her hair had a slight curl to it – strange since it was always absolutely straight – and was more of a dark brown then blonde. She walked in and over to my bed – falling back onto my blue comforter. I smiled. It was nice seeing someone be so comfortable around me – well – someone other then Vladimir. ‘What’s this?’ She asked – holding up the thick black book I had been reading the night before. I closed the door and turned around to face the young girl. ‘Oh that’s Breaking Dawn – it’s by Stephanie Meyer. It’s a muggle book, you probably don’t know it.’ I replied to her confused face. ‘That’s a weird title - what’s it about?’ ‘Oh – it’s a vampire love sorta thing. It’s just about a girl that’s in love with a vampire and she wants to become one, and basically she has too because, well – it’s the fourth in the series. It’s hard to explain.’ ‘Well that’s strange – vampires and muggles? Next you are going to be saying that muggles are reading stories about wizards and such. Like Quidditch, or, a wizard that saved the world from – well – You-Know-Who. ’ ‘Yeah, I guess – that would be sort of weird – like that’s ever going to happen.’ I replied, taking a seat next to her, ‘But anyway what’s up? Are you okay?’ She set the book down and slowly looked up – her eyes glassy with tears. ‘Victory what’s wrong?’ ‘Someone asked me to the ball.’ She whispered. ‘And – that’s a bad thing?’ I questioned. ‘Well, no.’ She looked down – embarrassed no doubt. ‘So? What’s the problem?’ ‘It’s just – well – I don’t want to go with him.’ ‘And you said no, right?’ I asked – growing slightly uneasy. ‘No…’ She said letting her face fall behind her ivory hands. ‘Victory –’ How was I supposed to help when she had already said yes? ‘I know – I know. But I-I just couldn’t say no,’ She explained, ‘I didn’t want to hurt his feelings.’ ‘Well? Who is it?’ I asked carefully ‘Virgil Elliot.’ She whispered. But Virgil’s a fifth year – oh – Josh isn’t going to like this! ‘So? What’s wrong with that?’ Besides the fact that Josh will probably kill him. ‘Nothing – just…’ ‘He’s not the one you want to go with – is he.’ She shook her head. Damn you Vladimir for rubbing off on me! ‘Well – go – you’ll have fun – just let yourself! Here – we can even go shopping for your dress. Just the two of us tomorrow at the Hogsmeade trip, what do ya say?’ A girl’s day – just what she needs. ‘Well – what are you wearing?’ ‘What?’ ‘To the Ball – didn’t Vladimir ask you? Aren’t you two – um – going out?’ She obviously thought that the ‘relationship’ was produced to quickly – but she was the only one to admit it. ‘Oh – y-yeah.’ ‘So…what are you wearing.’ ‘This.’ I said, proudly walking over to my trunk, unlatching the top and pulling out the blue dress. Victory’s mouth dropped at the sight of my dress. ‘That – is – beautiful!’ She replied, walking over to where I stood and lightly stroking the silk. ‘Yeah. So are we on?’ I asked. ‘Most Defiantly!’ ‘Great!’ We hung out in my room for most of the day until it was past time to go down to lunch – where to my surprise – awaited the answers to my increasing assortment of questions. XxXxX Once I had dressed in one of the arrangements of muggle cloths that McGonagall had chosen – a pair of jeans and a collared long-sleeved black shirt – we went down to lunch. Once we arrived in the hall we quickly took notice that no one seemed to be around. ‘Quidditch Practice probably.’ Victory said with a shrug. ‘Oh that’s right! How is Jayson?’ I questioned. ‘His arm is still in the cast – he will be out of it for a while – and he’s still really sore from his fall.’ She replied. We had begun to walk over to the Gryffindor table – where a single blonde wizard sat, alone like usual. ‘Good morning Vladimir.’ I said – breaking him from his quiet trance. ‘Yeah, morning He-Journey.’ He mumbled, continuing to gaze at his empty plate. I smiled and sat down next to him. ‘Well – Journey I’m going to go over to see Honor – see you later.’ She replied – not making eye contact with the blonde to even say a good morning. ‘Ok – remember our trip tomorrow!’ I reminded her. She – obviously – didn’t want to be around the wizard, for what reason – I wasn’t certain off – yet. ‘Yes, of course.’ She replied walking hastily over to the far end of the table. ‘What was that all about?’ I whispered – more so to my self then Vladimir. ‘People are intimidated by me – you already knew that.’ He answers smoothly – again – not making eye contact with me. ‘How’s your eye?’ I asked quietly – it must have hurt even if it didn’t show it. ‘It’s fine. Really.’ He turned his head slightly, ‘See?’ ‘Oh!’ His eye was now completely black with a purple outline. He could still open it – slightly – but he did need to get ice on it and soon. ‘What are you,’ He put his hand up to his left eye, ‘damn, I knew I had forgotten something this morning. I should have remembered to put the Concealing charm on it!’ ‘Come on! We have to get you to the hospital wing!’ I replied, standing to my small height. ‘Hermione.’ He whispered. I swear – one day he’s going to slip. ‘Don’t you Hermione me – I’m taking you to the hospital and that’s that!’ I replied taking hold of his wrist. I pulled him down the hall – although it was much easier since he wasn’t struggling to get away – he was just complaining. ‘It will be fine! Hermione!’ He said – a little to loud for my taste. I tightened my grip as we entered the wing. ‘Stay here – oh – I should have brought you here last night! I’ll be right back.’ I walked over to the closed door and reached up to the handle. I gave it a slight turn – causing it to screech – and pushed it open. ‘Madam Pomfrey? Madam Pomfrey?’ I called. ‘Over here dear!’ She replied, coming out from behind a shelf of weird looking potions. ‘What can I help you with?’ She asked, whipping her hands on her apron. ‘It’s Vladimir – his eye – could you help him with the swelling. Oh – and I know that it hurts – but he won’t admit it – so could you help him with that as well?’ I asked in one breath. ‘Ok – be with you in a minute dear.’ And she disappeared behind the wall of potions once more. I walked back out of the door and let my eyes fall over the room. It was just as it had been when I was in here – only now I was the one watching the patient and not the other way around. Vladimir had taken a seat on the closes bed and was hiding behind his hands once more. ‘Vladimir…’I whispered, he looked up to me as I walked over to the bed. ‘Excuse me, excuse me!’ Madam Pomfrey ran by – apparently catching sight of his eye. ‘Oh dear –’ She said – taking his left side in her hand and examine his eyes. ‘Here –’ The nurse handed him a bottle of blue liquid, ‘Drink this – oh – and please don’t ask what’s in it Mr. Nyx!’ He lifted the small bottle up to his lips and drank it in three sips. His face turned up into a sour expression – apparently it was even worse then the Curatio Cristal de Glace. I let a small smile escape which he caught instantly. ‘Oh and Journey – this is way worse then your’s waf.’ He said whipping a few stray drops from his lips. How does he do that? My smile disappeared while I crossed my arms and leaned against the wall – opposite the young wizard and the nurse – pouting. He let out a laugh. Which only caused me to slouch more. ‘Well Mr. Nyx how did you get this – bruise.’ The nurse asked. ‘I fell.’ He replied evenly. He was an easy-liar – you could tell from his believable tone. ‘Are you sure? It looks more like a fist mark.’ ‘I’m sure.’ ‘Alright.’ She replied – disappearing into the closet once more. ‘Why did you lie?’ I snapped – walking over to him. ‘Do you want to explain what happened?’ ‘Well – no…’ I replied awkwardly. ‘Good – then it’s settled I fell.’ He smiled in his glory over the easily won fight. I crossed my arms and walked back over to my corner. I had just reached it when the nurse re-appeared once again. Only this time she was carrying a bottle with a dark-green liquid. Handing it to Vladimir she told him to drink the potion once more – and not ask what was in it. The young wizard took the bottle – just like he had the first – and had it down in one swill. His face was etched in discuss. He dropped the now-empty bottle one the bed and began to cough. I walked over to stand by the nurse, when I noticed that his dark eye was becoming lighter and lighter – until the color matched his skin perfectly – almost as if there never had been any damage. All that was left was a hint of purple – which couldn’t be told unless you already knew what had happened. I stood dumbfounded next to the smiling nurse. ‘That,’ – cough – ‘was horrible!’ Vladimir spat. ‘Sorry dear – but you probably didn’t want to have a black eye for the dance – now then – would you?’ She smiled looking over to me. I let a blush warm onto my cheekbone. ‘N-no I guess not.’ He replied – standing up. ‘Good, well Dumbledore has just asked that you two go up and meet him in his office.’ ‘Both of us?’ I asked skeptically. ‘Yes dear, oh, do you still remember the password?’ She asked. ‘Yes – Dragon right?’ ‘Yes, now off with you two! He said that it was of the utmost importance!’ She replied waving us off before disappeared – for the second time – behind the closet’s door. ‘Well – let’s go.’ Vladimir said, starting out the door. I gulped. This can’t be good! XxXxX ‘Dragon.’ I whispered to the statue that guarded the headmaster’s office. We walked up the stairs to the door – where I froze. ‘Hermione?’ My eyes grew wider. ‘Hermione?’ Come on! You can do this – but why is Vladimir here? What part does he play? ‘Herm—’ ‘Come in.’ Came a voice from behind the door – opening the door as it spoke. Vladimir strode in, while I – stumblingly – followed. This wasn’t going to end well. ‘Ahhh…Ms. Granger and Mr. Nyx.’ The Headmaster said. ‘Wait? He knows – he knows – who you a-are?’ Vladimir whispered to me. ‘Yes, Mr. Nyx, I know more then you would imagine!’ He held the usual twinkle in his blue eyes. ‘O-oh.’ And the wizard with vampire eyes – which were now a sapphire blue – was quiet. ‘So Ms. Granger – I expect that you know why you are here?’ He asked. ‘Y-yes, but-but why is V-Vla-Vladimir here?’ I stuttered – I couldn’t live with myself if I had put him in harm’s way as well. ‘Because this concerns him also.’ The Headmaster stood and walked over to one of the many bookshelves behind his desk. ‘Of course.’ I whispered. ‘Ahhh! Here we go.’ He replied – pulling out a small blue orb from behind one of the larger books. ‘What is this? I thought we were going to talk about the potion?’ I asked – growing more annoyed with each word – which caused Vladimir’s eyes to turn to a topaz blue. ‘Ms. Granger – listen to this – and all your questions shall be answered!’ He said – handing me the orb. Damn! I hate when he talks in riddles! My hand reached out and took the sphere. Almost ready to except any destiny that fate had dealt me. I held the object up to my ear and listened to its poetic words. One shall come back, Her eyes a golden-brown And with her she shall take, The boy who’s destined to death, By the Dark Lord in the year 1989, This brilliant witch of Gryffindor – 1995, Born on the nineteenth of September year 1979, Shall take with her the one with the Vampire’s Eyes, They share a connection, one that has never been seen before, They depend on the other with a strength that has never been know, They share powers that have never been seen, each different but the same, Support each other; love one another – for it is up to you to stop the Dark Lord in his Quest for total power. I couldn’t be hearing this right! Was this right? ‘W-what is it?’ Vladimir asked – his eyes now a light gold. My voice was caught – all I could manage to do was hand him the small orb of our destiny. Vladimir listened to the seer’s voice and then looked up towards me with onyx-gold tinted eyes. Once our eyes met they caused the same feeling of understanding to flow between the two of us. Our destinies where twisted together. We had no choice – it was the Seer’s vision. I was to take him back with me – to my year and time – when I went. We broke the link between our eyes and turned around to face the Headmaster. ‘Yes, you two shall fight, and win, in the Last Battle to come against the Dark Lord, Voldomort.’ XxXxX AN Review please! Character Fact: The characters David Alister and Josh Hale are based on two seniors that just graduated from my school! Both their personality and style are from them! _Keeper_ Chapter 9: The Hogsmeade Trip and A Proposal [View Online] [Printer Friendly Version of This Chapter] ‘How do you know that this is meant for me?’ The answer was obvious, but I still wanted to hear it. Dumbledore looked at me with his twinkling eyes and I fell silent. Who else would it be for? I fell back into one of the two office chairs and looked over to Vladimir. His eyes where a midnight black – which was a color that I had yet to see. Well – now I know why our chemistry was so strong. The seer was correct – we had that connection – and it was a strong one at that! ‘Vladimir…’ I whispered – trying to give him comfort. His eyes only darkened – if that was possible. I stood up and walked over to him – placing my hand on his shoulder. He aimed his glower at me and shrugged my hand off. I fell back into myself – not knowing what to do at the moment. Ok so he does want to be comforted and – I looked over at him – his streaks where the color of their usual change of steam. Now he is steamed. I knew this wasn’t going to be good! ‘S-so wh-what are we going t-to do?’ I asked. ‘You are to try and fit in – and be prepared when the potion is finished.’ He replied calmly. I nodded my head – still lost in my own world. How could he not be worried? I mean – the seer said that Vladimir was going to be killed – killed! – by Voldomort. Shouldn’t he be concerned? ‘Do you have any questions Ms Granger?’ ‘No…’ I did – but I didn’t want Vladimir to hear them. ‘Mr. Nyx?’ ‘No.’ He hissed – before turning to leave. ‘I’m s-sorry about him – he’s just – just…’ I couldn’t find the words. How would someone feel if they knew that their destiny was to die – but only to be saved by a time traveling sixteen year old witch? Not only that – but everything that you have grown to know – and love – was going to change at any time? I nodded a good by and walked out behind the disheartened wizard. I walked up behind him and again placed my hand on his shoulder. This time he didn’t shrug it off or scowl – he just accepted it and leaned closer. ‘Vladimir…’I tried to find encouraging words – but none came to mind. ‘It’s fine –’ And then we were both quiet. XxXxX I woke up to the usual morning – the sun shinning in and the light knock on the door. ‘Come in Victory.’ I said. The small girl gracefully strode in and stopped by my bed-side table. ‘Come on Journey! Come on! The group leaves in fifteen minutes!’ She said – now shaking my shoulder. ‘Oh the Trip!’ I yelled and was out of bed in a flash and hunting through my trunk. ‘How about I meet you down in the common room in five minutes?’ Her face fell into a distrusting expression. ‘I promise! I just need to change and then I will be down there!’ I replied – still digging. ‘Oh! Alright!’ And then gracefully danced out. ‘Ok! Now all I need is an outfit!’ I began to dig once more. XxXxX I stumbled down the stairs ten minutes later – throwing on my shoes as I went. Victory was leaning against the far wall, tapping her foot impatiently. ‘There you are!’ She practically yelled when she caught sight of me. She ran over to me and pulled me by my wrist – once again – out of the common room. ‘We’re going to be late!’ XxXxX We had to run to make the group in time – but we did. Professor McGonagall had signed my permission slip so that I could go – and smiled when I handed her the white parchment. ‘Go on Ms. Knight – have fun now.’ ‘I will – and thank you!’ I replied before following Victory out of the gate and down the path to Hogsmeade. XxXxX Hogsmeade was nothing like it was in 1995. There seemed to be so many shops – some for cloths others for books – but most were dedicated to the soul sport of the wizarding world – Quidditch. I saw Vladimir sitting in the Three Broomsticks, alone, while Victory was trying to pull me towards Ice – which was a shop filled with mostly dresses – he had his head buried over a book and his free hand twisting around a self-moving spoon in his drink – oblivious to the time passing around him. I slid my wrist easily through the young witch’s grip and stopped to gaze through the frosted glass. We hadn’t talked since last night – which had been a conversation of barely three words – and now he was retreating into himself – hiding from the rest of the world. I don’t know how much more of this I could take! ‘Journey…Journey?’ I heard a voice call from afar. What is that? I looked up to see if someone was on the balcony – no one. ‘Journey.’ There it was again. ‘Journey!’ Damn! Right in my ear! My hand moved up to cover my sore ear only to be met by the familiar emerald-gray eyes of Victory Hale. ‘Journey – you coming?’ I took one last look at the boy and turned to face the young witch. ‘Yeah.’ And I reluctantly followed – leaving behind the boy with the Vampire’s Eyes. XxXxX Once we got into Ice – I learned the real reason why it was called Ice. It had no heater – when we walked in I felt as if I would freeze. Victory – unaware of the icicles on the ceiling – headed straight to the dresses. Wow she bounced back quickly. Still – I wonder who she wanted to go with…hum…I wonder. ‘Oh! Journey look at this dress!’ She was holding a strapless dark-violet dress. It would show off the small curves that Victory had and make her look like the beautiful dancer her graceful step always hinted at. The dress had a golden flower design across the bosom and the ending of the fabric fell down into a scrunched pattern. ‘Oh Victory – do go and try it on! It would be perfect!’ I encouraged. ‘Do you think? Wouldn’t I look…weird?’ She was clearly self-conscious – but in a humble way – not like the usual girl that was searching for a compliment. ‘Yes go!’ I gave her a playful shove to the blue colored dressing rooms. ‘It will look great!’ She smiled and went into one of the empty stalls. I retuned her smile, and turned too browsed at some of the other cloths in the story. Wow! They have some nice stuff! To bad it isn’t warmer in here; I don’t think I could stand being in her for another minute! ‘Journey I don’t think that this was a good idea.’ Victory called from her stall. ‘Why?’ ‘Cause.’ ‘Oh! Just come out here!’ The door slowly began to open and I saw the witch peer her head out. ‘I-I don’t think t-that I should.’ ‘Oh – please?’ I pushed. ‘Alright.’ She stepped out and my mouth dropped. It truly did make her look like an angel – like a star in the night sky. ‘You are so – beautiful! You must buy it! You must, you must!’ I insisted – I wasn’t about to let her give this dress up. ‘Are you sure?’ She walked over to the three-way mirror. ‘Yes! Now – lets look for some accessories!’ She smiled – she was slowly finding more and more confidence. ‘Yes – let’s!’ And with that she disappeared back into the changing room. I smiled – this is what I needed as well. A day out with a girlfriend. And a perfect one at that! XxXxX When we got back to Hogwarts Victory had received an owl. Apparently they were going to go home for the Christmas Break – something they rarely did – she explained. ‘Journey! Oh we have to go find Josh! He’s going to be so excited! We never have the whole family together!’ She said, hugging the letter to her chest. ‘Alright, alright where would he be? Is he still as Hogsmeade?’ I asked. ‘No, no, no. They were having an ‘extra’ practice at the Pitch. Come one!’ She replied and ran out of the common room – letter in hand. ‘Oh! Do wait!’ I yelled after her. XxXxX Victory was faster then I had imagined. She had made it to the Pitch a good five minutes before me. Once I got there – keeling over to breath – I noticed that Josh had lifted her into another spin-around hug. After my breath had caught up to me I walked over to the group. Charlie, David, and Jayson stood around Josh as he and Victory talked. Bill, Virgil and a boy that I didn’t recognize where flying around the Pitch – but once they took notice of the small group they flew down. The boys had landed a few feet away – giving me plenty of time to take in the look of the unknown wizard. He had shaggy-layered bleach blonde hair – a lot of different shades of blonde ran together, a black hint was covered by the lighter-layers, reminding me a lot of David’s. His bangs hung over his forehead and brushed the tips of his eyebrows – parting in the middle. He had bright-ice blue eyes – which his ear-to-ear smile touched as well. His plain black t-shirt and baggy jeans was the replacement for his practice uniform. But even though I thought he was plain – I couldn’t help but notice the vibrant blush coming from the small fourth year next to me. I tuned to look at her – and the blush became darker – now I knew who she wished had asked her. ‘Oh – Journey this is Jasper Cullen.’ Bill said, answered my questioning eyes. I nodded as a greeting – really I do have to get rid of the habit! ‘Hey.’ The newest wizards said in a light-enjoyable tone. He turned to face Victory – her face turned blood-red. ‘Hey Victory.’ He practically whispered in his musical-voice while a smile danced across his pale lips. ‘H-hello.’ His face once again demonstrated his unforgettable smile. I can see why she is so taken by him! Victory blushed – as Jasper just stood by and smiled. None of the other boys took notice of the younger ones – except David. He seemed to notice the chemistry – but kept it to himself. ‘So what are you guys doing practicing on a Hogsmeade day?’ I asked. ‘We are trying to make up for our loss of a player.’ Charlie said – nodding his head towards Jayson. I looked over at the wizard, who was still in a full arm cast, and back to Charlie. ‘Why not just get a substitute?’ ‘We can’t – it’s too late.’ Bill replied. ‘That and the fact that everyone else at the tryouts stunk.’ David mumbled. ‘Well – um…’ I was at a lost of words. ‘Hey Journey – why don’t you try out?’ Charlie asked. Where the hell would he get that idea? He hasn’t even seen me fly! He hasn’t even told me yet that I’m semi-good at Quidditch at the Weasley’s Pitch! Unless he… ‘Yeah! McGonagall said that you were pretty good!’ Bill encouraged. Damn it! ‘O come on, just try Journey!’ This was from Victory – did she even know how to play? ‘Ahhh…what position do you need anyway?’ I asked – beginning to give in. ‘Chaser.’ Charlie replied. Of course! ‘I guess I could…’ ‘Ok that’s good enough for me!’ Charlie said. ‘Yeah!’ David and Virgil exclaimed. Still I was screwed – I hadn’t been on a broom since summer – hopefully I still had what Charlie will compliment me on in a few years! Wait what was I talking about? I sighed in defeat. ‘Alright – does anyone have a broom I could borrow?’ XxXxX AN Mwahwahwhawhaw! The dreaded cliff! Character Fact: Victory Alice Hale is based of Alice Cullen – who is my favorite character in Twilight. (If you hadn’t figured that out already!) And her crush, Jasper Cullen, is, of course, based on Jasper Hale. I just love those two! ~ Also this was the chapter my favorite Character appeared in –Jasper Cullen is my favorite (just like his is in Twilight!) – he’s just so fun to write! ~ _Keeper_ ‘Here you go,’ Jasper said – hesitantly – handing me his broom, ‘Mine should work for ya.’ ‘Thank you.’ I replied – taking the Nimbus 2000. ‘Yeah.’ He said – falling back next to Victory – a little to close for Josh’s liking. His eyes told all that he was thinking of the two. Jasper – I soon learned – was in fifth year – only a year off of Victory – but still there was a difference. Apparently Josh didn’t like his little sister crushing on one of his older friends – and that that friend was taking notice of his younger sister. I sighed and got on Jasper’s broom – taking another deep breath – I set my feet in the take-off stance. Everything was going to be fine – Charlie said – or will say – that I’m a natural! Yeah –everything will be – ‘Hey Charlie!’ Damn, I knew I was going to be wrong! ‘Charlie – why is she on a broom? Is she trying out?’ Came the mocking voice. Why oh why? Just once I would – ‘Yes, she is trying out – now shh – she’s just getting ready to start.’ Charlie whispered back – a little bit kinder then yesterday – why he even let her hang on his arm! Damn that girl – she better watch herself! Bloody hell – I can’t even do anything – I’m with ‘Vladimir’ Damn me and my big mouth! ‘So – you ready to start?’ Came Jasper’s optimistic light-tone. ‘Yeah.’ I took one last look at the red-head and the over-confident blonde. I sighed and tried to remember the summer – when Charlie was teaching me – again – how to kick-off right – so that you didn’t fall right on your arse. I took one last deep breath and kicked. The air flew around me as I ascended into the air – I wobbled a little but soon found my balance. I looked down to the group below – which was about eight yard but felt like a very long mile. Everyone’s eyes where glued to me – some smiled an encouragement others bit their lower lip – one person sneered – who else but Poinsettia of course. I took one look at the glowering strawberry-blonde before flying off. The wind rushed past me – but for some odd reason it felt – great! I loved the feeling – I was free. Away from all the problems – away from the clock that would only tell me that I went back to far – away from the boy who’s trust I had lost – the one with the Vampire’s Eyes. Away from the jealous Poinsettia – and her Charlie. Yeah right – you could so tell that he doesn’t like her that way – right? ‘Hey – Knight!’ I was broken from my thoughts – wobbling a bit from the concentration lost – I turned the broom to face the direction the voice had come from. Strangely – it was extremely easy. Once I had turned full circle I noticed that Josh and Jasper where in the air – Jasper, I assumed, had borrowed a practice broom – holding the Quaffle. I gulped – I wasn’t looking forward to messing up with Poinsettia right there – and with me – it was practically promised. ‘Let’s do a few practice laps just passing – then we will bring everyone else up.’ Josh stated. I nodded. The boys took off and started to pass back and forth. I flew off behind them. They passed it gently to me – well the first couple of times at least – once they learned that I wasn’t as fragile as most girls – they hurled it towards me with increasing speed. But still I kept on catching it. Once we had done this for about fifteen minutes Jasper called up the rest of the team. Charlie – who was the Seeker and Team Captain, Bill and Virgil – the two Beaters, and David – the Keeper. I got so into the practice that I barley noticed that Victory was down on the ground cheering with all her might while Poinsettia was pouting. ‘Whoo! Way to go Knight!’ David called after one of my throws finally made it past him. Charlie was flying around – watching everyone like a team captain should – but for some reason I still felt like his beautiful blue eyes where focused on me – and me alone. Whether it be because I was trying out or looked semi-cute flying on a broom – either way – I choose to believe the second one. ‘Ok everyone!’ Charlie yelled, ‘That’s enough for today! Knight meet me in the lockers.’ Isn’t it a good thing when they use your last name? Doesn’t it mean that you are – one of the guys? I nodded and flew down with the rest of the team. Handing back Jasper’s Nimbus and walked off towards the lockers – following a few feet behind the red-head. Once I got in he closed the opening curtain of the tent and turned to face me. His expression was unreadable. I swallowed my impatience and waited. ‘So…’ He began after a few minutes. I bit my lip. Was it my imagination or had an hour just flown by? ‘What would you say about being our new team Chaser?’ He smiled. I smiled – letting out a small squeak of pleasure – and jumped up into his large stature and into a hug. He seemed to freeze under my grip – but soon he loosened his height and gently placed his arms around my small waist. I pulled away slightly – not making eye contact and covering my warm cheeks with my messy curls – but still I stayed in his loose hold. ‘So – I guess you might want to go tell the good news to Victory – and – and…’ He couldn’t say his name – and he was his friend first! ‘And Vladimir of course!’ I wasn’t about to let him get away for even thinking about playing the jealously card against me. I slipped out of his arms – wanting to see his face turn as red as mine felt. It didn’t. Oddly – he stayed perfectly calm. I smiled – trying to hide my glassy eyes. ‘W-well I should be going – Vla-Victory is waiting for me. Can’t keep her waiting ya know!’ I choked out. I smiled once more before sliding out the beige curtains. Once I was out of sight I let the tears fall as they pleased. When had I turned into one of those girls? Once that toyed with a boy’s emotions? Or played the jealously card right back? I don’t know what happened – but I didn’t care for it. But the other thing tugging at my heart wasn’t myself or Poinsettia or even Charlie – but the one who’s life was about to be turned all the way around – all because of me. I needed to find Vladimir – I needed him probably just as much as he needed me right now. And I wasn’t going to let him fall into himself. I couldn’t. Not again. He hadn’t left me – and I won’t leave him. XxXxX AN – so now you know what is to come! Quidditch! *insert weird fly music here* Now for our Character Fact of the Chapter! CF: Poinsettia was named after a plant that I saw in my living room – I was trying to think of a name for the antagonist of my story and I say the Poinsettia by my computer and decided that since her little sister had a ‘flower’ like name why shouldn’t she? _Keeper_ I walked back out of the tent to meet Victory – who was talking with Jasper and Virgil. Strange combination – the boy that asked her who she doesn’t like and the boy who was a little late on the asking but who she is in love with. This is going to be interesting. ‘Hey Victory – I’m going to head back to the common room – you want to come?’ I yelled. ‘No – I’m fine here,’ She answered stealing a glance at Jasper. ‘So did you get it Knight?’ Jasper yelled over to me. ‘Yeah!’ I said – letting my face light up into a smile as I walked over to the group, ‘I’m going to go find Vladimir to tell him the good news.’ ‘Why would you do that?’ Virgil said I laughed ‘Why wouldn’t I?’ ‘Cause – Nyx isn’t into Quidditch – he really doesn’t like it,’ Josh explained, now joining the group. ‘That doesn’t make sense – he went to the game.’ ‘He always does – he comes to support us I guess.’ Charlie answered. ‘But you sounded like he would rather die then come to a game Josh.’ I said, ignoring Charlie’s tone. ‘I don’t know – you’d have to ask him yourself. But again – I wouldn’t suggest it.’ Charlie’s face became a light shade of red – he wasn’t up for me being around Vladimir – even though he was my ‘boyfriend’. ‘Yeah – I was going to go look for him. Do you know where he is?’ I turned as far away from Charlie as possible – and ended up facing David. ‘Y-yeah – he’s usually in the Library on Saturdays.’ ‘That can’t be – we just saw him in Hogsmeade.’ Victory replied. ‘Maybe he’s back now.’ I pointed out. She shrugged. ‘Well – I’ll go check. See you guys later.’ I replied and started back towards the gate. I heard and ‘Oww!’ and then an ‘Alright’ come from behind me. I turned to see David running towards me – his short-sleeved shirt had one sleeve up and the other down, he was falling over his pant legs and stumbling to keep up with his quick speed. ‘Hey – Knight how about I come with ya?’ He said – one white sleeve rolled up and rubbing his arm. ‘S-sure.’ I replied – Charlie – no doubt – had put him up to it. I looked back over to the group and saw that they all had broken off into pairs. Josh and Virgil were messing around with there brooms – doing turns and tricks in the air. Jasper was talking with Victory – who was flirting in returnin with a flip of her hair. Thank God – unlike the other girls –she wasn’t giggling. And Charlie was ignoring me and David as we walked away – instead he was focused on the blonde attached to his arm. ‘Hump.’ I said – crossing my arms. ‘If-he-thinks-that-he-can-get-away-with-this-then-he-is-so-so-SO-wrong-he-thinks-he-can-mess-with-me-does-he? Well! Hump.’ I mumbled swiftly and quietly to myself. ‘Bloody hell!’ David whispered. Oh great! Now I have a Ron on my hands as well. Do I have to take him back with me as well? I stormed off towards the library – David running to keep up with me. I reached the oak-doors and pushed them open. ‘David,’ I turned to the young winded wizard. ‘Y-ye-yeah?’ He breathed. ‘I can talk to Vladimir by myself! I don’t need you watching over me like a hawk! So go tell Charlie to sod off! Ok?’ I spat. He stood to his full height of 6’1 yet still he seemed to be intimidated by my small statue. He nodded and then walked back out of the library. ‘As if I need a babysitter! Hump! He needs to learn to just shove that…’ ‘Shhhh!’ The librarian hissed. I dropped my head and walked towards the tables as the. My eyes flew over the room full of wrath. Were – is that bloody git? I swear if he even thinks – I stopped and took a deep breath. Relax Hermione – your still mad at Charlie – don’t even dare think about taking it out on Vladimir. He’s probably having a worse day then you are! I took one more breath before scanning the room again. There were mostly Ravenclaws – with the exception of a few Hufflepuffs and one Slytherin. So far – no Gryffindors. I walked farther back into the library – double checking every person that I passed. Once I reached the back wall I turned around. Maybe he’s not back yet – maybe he’s – My thoughts were broken through by a low sob coming from the far left corner. I stood to my full height and held my head. I began to walk towards the corner – and I promised myself that what ever it was – I wasn’t going to scream – no matter what. The sound grew louder as I grew closer. It was a low sort of cry. I came to the last bookshelf – the once separating me from the dark corner. I took a small breath and peered around. My eyes exploded with emotions for the sight in front of me. Huddled in the small corner was who I had been searching for – they boy with the Vampire’s Eyes. His knees were tucked under his chin and his hair fell around his head – hiding his blocky skin. His blonde hair held a dust of ice-colored streaks – another color that I could only guess what it meant. I crept over to the crying-wizard. A range of emotions flooded through me. Concern. Anger. Love. All at once they showed themselves. Once I reached the boy I took a seat across from him. He looked up with a blood-shot gaze – which seemed to dissolve his topaz eyes. ‘Vladimir…’I whispered. I was confused – I didn’t think that he would be one to cry his feelings out – but either way – I was going to be there for him. I moved next to him and awkwardly placed my arm around him – wrapping him into a hug. He leaned into my shoulder and began to cry again – only with out sound. It was weird – I could feel the tears on my arm – but not even a slight sob came out of his mouth. ‘Vladimir – what’s wrong?’ I asked – all anger forgotten. He sat up – gently pulling loose from my arms. ‘I can’t go back with you – I –’ ‘But you can’t stay here – you’ll die.’ I whispered, ‘you can’t possibly want that.’ ‘Y-you don’t get it – I can’t leave – I can’t! This is my home I can just leave –’ ‘But you’ll die, I can’t live with that! I can’t!’ I whispered – turning him to face me. My tears flowing freely now. ‘I can’t leave, my Mum – my younger brother. What are they going to do with out me? I’m the oldest! I can’t just leave them, I have a responsibility to them.’ He yelled. ‘Vlad—’ ‘Don’t – you don’t know how I feel! I’m losing everything – all my friends – my family – if I went nothing is every going to be the same!’ He yelled. I cringed. Gosh I hope no one can hear him! I stood up – digging for any confidence that I could find. ‘You don’t know anything.’ He snapped – crossing his arms. ‘Your right – I don’t. But I’m trying too! And as for everything changing – it’s going to anyway! And you family – well, they will lose you forever in a year if you don’t come with me! Forever! Do you not understand that concept? Imagine what that would do to her!’ I yelled back. ‘Well-I-I-I…’ I had hit a nerve. Maybe that was a little harsh – ok – a lot harsh. I walked over to him and pulled him down into a hug – letting my tears fall as they pleased. We pulled apart a few minutes later – the connection still growing stronger. ‘I’m always here for you.’ I whispered. ‘Always.’ He whispered back – pulling me back into the hug. I pulled away. The Seer was right – a bond, not even time could change. The strongest one of our time. It felt a lot like we were two halves of a whole – we couldn’t survive with out the other almost. It really was the strongest of our time. I guess that included quick forgiveness as well – and I was ok with that. ‘You alright?’ I whispered – probably the stupidest thing I could whisper at the time but I had to ask. He gave me one last hug before he locked with my eyes again. ‘Now I am – thanks.’ I smiled and hugged him on last time. What was going to happen to Vladimir when we go back? I hadn’t even though of Vladimir’s feelings – I just assumed he would be alright. How stupid could I be? I was trying to get back at Charlie Weasley when Vladimir was going through hell! Where was I last night? Sleeping peacefully – sort of – while he troubled over what was going to happen to him, to his Mum. Wonder how he might die if he stayed. And then that he would sacrifice his own life just so that his Mum wasn’t left alone. He was so much stronger then me – I could never reach the level he was on! And then this morning – I should have gone and found him – I should have. Where had my courage been then? I had even seen him this morning – I knew I should have gone in! I was an arse – plain and stupid. I truly was selfish. His life should be in someone who can always be there for him – who wasn’t as self-centered as myself – someone who— ‘Hermione?’ I heard – breaking from my thoughts. ‘Yes?’ I mumbled – still guilty about his quick forgiveness. ‘Don’t worry, its fine.’ He said, giving me one last squeeze before letting me go. ‘So, you ready to go join the world? And all its damned consequences?’ I asked – ignoring the fact that he could read me like a book. He nodded and held his hand out for me. ‘Hey Vampire.’ ‘Hum?’ I tapped under my eyes and then my hair – reminding him to change there colors.’ His eyes darkened into a topaz blue – and his streaks soon followed. ‘Oh and Journey.’ Vladimir said. ‘Yeah?’ ‘What did you do to your hair?’ He asked, turning around and picking a leaf out of my hair. ‘What are you— Oh…’ I said, noticing the leaf in his hand. ‘Care to share sis?’ I smiled at his pet name; he had just taken to calling me sis, just like I had taken to calling him Vampire. ‘I tried out for Quidditch.’ ‘Oh do tell.’ ‘Yeah well I made Chaser.’ ‘Congrats.’ He whispered. ‘Yeah well you should have been there – Charlie and Virgil and Jasper where there. It was so much fun I forgot how much fun it could be! Any way it went by really fast and….’ I was off, we spent the rest of the day together just hanging out and talking – and the bond just kept growing and growing. Stronger then it ever had been before. ‘So tell me about you’re younger brother.’ I nudged him as we started down the hall, ‘What house is he in?’ He smiled, ‘His names Daniel – he’s thirteen and in Ravenclaw.’ ‘Ravenclaw,’ I smiled, ‘I bet that we’ll get along just well…’ ‘I bet you will.’ He replied, ‘I bet you will.’ XxXxX AN: actually I have nothing for an author’s note – so I guess I’ll just say Hi and review please cuz it keeps the chapter coming quicker! also - might not be my best chapter - but I had to have the drama...so sorry if it totally sucks - but reviews are still welcomed!! _Keeper_ I spent the rest of the day just hanging out with Vladimir – getting to know more about who he was. All around it was the perfect finish to a very stressful day. Once it was dust I said goodnight to the two and headed up to my dorm only to be met by a very distress Victory curled up by my door – her beautiful features covered perfectly by her short hair. Here comes the stress – I knew that it was too perfect of an ending! ‘Victory?’ I said walking over to the young girl. The young girl looked up and met my eyes. ‘What’s wrong?’ I whined – of course I wanted to be there for her but I had already dealt with my maximum of tears for today. She mumbled her answer – making it un-heard by my ears. ‘Victory – come on in.’ I said gentler. I walked over and opened the door – holding it open for the young witch before following her in. Victory took her usual spot on my bed while I took the set next to her. She cried some more and I wrapped her in a hug – letting her tears fall as they wished. ‘Ok – so what is wrong? What happened today?’ I asked – curious and slightly annoyed that my sleep was being held off a little longer. ‘It-it-it w-was J-Jas-Jasp-Jasper.’ She cried – burring herself farther into my shoulder. I rubbed her back and held her tight like a sister would. No wonder she was here – she couldn’t go to Josh for this – never in a million years – they might be close but that doesn’t mean that he can handle all the boy talk like a girl could. ‘W-what about Jasper?’ I asked. She sat up and began her tale with a few paused for a tear of two. ‘Once you left the boys and I hung out for a little while’ – pause – ‘but it was only Virgil, Jasper, a-and myself – although Josh was there for a little while too but then he left.’ – another pause – ‘But Virgil – well he…’ – a few stray tears – ‘he wrapped his arm around me and kissed me on the cheek like-like we were….were…a…’ ‘A couple.’ I finished for her. ‘Exactly!’ – pause – ‘but Jasper was there…and….and….’ – another spell of tears – ‘Oh! Journey!’ – they flowed freely now – ‘if only you had seen his face! He was so hurt!’ – I tightened my hug – I knew how that felt – ‘He looked…betrayed. Worse even!’ She finished. ‘I’m so, so sorry Victory – I know how you feel.’ She pried loose of my grip and looked up to me. I nodded. ‘Yeah – everyone knows that feeling – the one person – who holds your heart and can break it with only a word – that person that you feel that-that bond with – the only one who can break your glass heart.’ Now I lost myself – was I talking to Victory’s heart – or mine? ‘And yours Victory’ – I pulled her pixie face to look at mine – ‘Is one of the most beautiful ones that I have seen yet – I mean your kind and compassionate – you always have a smile to share – your walk is so graceful – like it’s a dance! Any guy that wouldn’t give you a second chance doesn’t deserve you! ‘And Jasper doesn’t come off like the type of guy that would blow you off – or even give up that simply. I saw the way he looked at you – he wouldn’t just give up that easily!’ She looked down to the floor trying – but not succeeding – to hid her vibrant blush. ‘So relax – let him breath and think things through – you never know – he may just come for you! Like a-a prince in shining armor to rescue your glass heart and treasure it like a priceless gem!’ I finished proudly. Out of all the speeches that I had given today – this was my favorite thus far. Her face light up into one of her remarkable smiles and her tears began to dry – leaving only slight stains where they had once been. ‘T-thanks Journey – I t-think I will do just that!’ She let out another incredible smile and stood – wiping the stains clear of her face. ‘Yeah.’ I replied standing next to her – and giving her one last hug for confidence. All she needed was a word of encouragement – I wonder if that will work on Vladimir as well… ‘Now’ – I stepped back – ‘Go get some sleep – you can’t give him something to think of with out your beauty sleep!’ She smiled. As if she needed it! If only she knew how beautiful she really was! Jasper better take notice soon before someone else does! Victory gave one last glittering smile and turned to walk towards the door. ‘Oh and Victory.’ She turned around. ‘I know that you like Jasper – but remember you did said yes to Virgil – so don’t just ditch him totally ok? He has feelings as well.’ I had totally forgotten of her date – of course he would act like she was his girlfriend – she had said yes – but still – that didn’t give him all the rights. I smiled an encouragement while she nodded a thank you and turned to leave once more. Once she was out of the door I fell back onto my bed. Another long day in the life of Hermione Granger – also known as Journey Knight! Able to solve any problem if she knew what she was doing! Dun-dun-da-da-du! I thought sarcastically to myself – letting a smirk play across my lips. But yet I knew I was in the right place – fate had chosen correct. They needed me here – Vladimir and Victory. I was here for a purpose. This is where I belonged – for now at least. XxXxX I woke up to the usual knock on my door. I smiled. ‘Come in Victory!’ I hollered. ‘Wrong – again Knight.’ I sat straight up – I knew that voice. That evil-demonic-I-just-want-to-scream! voice. ‘What do you want Brown?’ That’s good! Provoke the argument Hermione! Idiot… ‘Oh I just came to tell you that Charlie has asked me to the Ball.’ She sneered. Damn I hate that girl! ‘So?’ Good – play dumb. That might work. Her sneer turned into a confused frown. ‘So…I’m going with him and you’re stuck with that-that thing.’ Now I was pissed. That little…little…damn it! ‘If you mean to say that Vladimir is a thing then you can just sod-off.’ I hissed. Ok – now I was not just pissed at the flower – I was pissed with the damn Weasley! ‘Oh – good comeback!’ She turned to leave – only to appear once more at the door. ‘Oh and just to tell you’ – I glowered at her for coming back – ‘Your late for class.’ ‘What?’ I yelled turning towards the window. Which caused me to fall out my bed with a thunk. ‘Oww.’ I whispered rubbing my side. She laughed, ‘Real graceful Knight! Well I must be going – I don’t want to be late and all.’ And with that she turned and left the room. I ran over to my trunk and pulled out the first of the three uniforms. I threw off my nightgown – a dark blue tank top and matching plaid pants – and threw my skirt and shirt on. Not giving a second look to the mirror I ran out of the room – forgetting my wand. XxXxX I made it to my first class – Care of Magical Creatures. Great! It was strange to see Charlie as the student and not the teacher. I smiled when he threw his hand up and answered the question the teacher had asked perfectly – before quickly dismissing it, reminding myself that I was still mad at him. But he really was meant for this class. I looked up when I felt the chair next to me screech from being pulled out. Vladimir sat down and turned his attention to the teacher – not giving me a second look. Strange – what’s up with him? I shrugged my shoulders and turned my attention back to the teacher. Questions began to fill my head. I gave up trying to focus on the lecture and let my head fall onto my desk. I am so tired – and nothing seemed to be falling into place like it does in the future! I lifted my head enough to turn and look at the blonde next to me. He was drawing on a piece of parchment – either notes or a sketch – I couldn’t tell. Well – one things for sure – at least Victory is having a better day! XxXxX ‘Journey! Journey! Oh Journey!’ A very energetic Victory shouted down the hall – causing the few students to turn and look at the girl running down the hall – her hair flowing behind her. I glowered – even when she was running she looked graceful! Once she reached me she grabbed my elbows and began to jump up and down. ‘W-what is it Victory?’ I asked – being taken over by her atmosphere of charisma. ‘It’s Jasper!’ She said in between bounces. ‘What about him?’ ‘He kissed me!’ ‘He what?’ Now I was jumping up and down for her. ‘He kissed me! Jasper Cullen kissed me! On the LIPS!’ she squealed. We soon caught the attention of all the students in the corridor – which had increased immensely form the first seven or so. I stopped and pulled Victory down from her extremely soaring mood. ‘So tell me everything that happened – don’t leave anything out!’ I whispered. Not like she would leave anything out – it was Victory I was talking about! She told me that she was walking down to the corridor leading to Charms – which was right after breakfast for fourth years – and ran into Jasper. He asked boldly if her ‘boyfriend’ was taking her to the ball. That was when it all began. They started to get into a fight almost – Victory yelling that even though she was going with Virgil that he still wasn’t the one she wanted to go with – Jasper argued about who she wanted to take her. And after about five minutes of her explaining every single detail, action, and definition of words used – she finally got to the better part. After the argument was to the heating point she had yelled, ‘I wanted you! JAPER CULLEN! To ask me! But you were too late!’ She said how he had turned away slightly but within less then a minute he had turned back around – a new source of courage found – and kissed her. Short and bitter from the argument – but to her all she cared about was that it was Jasper’s lips who had given her the first kiss of her life. And that was all that she ever needed. Once she came to a close – blushing and trembling fingers running across her pale lips – she looked over to me and asked for my thoughts. I looked at her and then back to the ground. What was I going to say? Dump Virgil and have Jasper take you? Ahhh…what to say…what to say… ‘Well – Victory – that was really nice – but Virgil, what about him? Remember – you can’t just forget him!’ She smiled another breath-taking smile. ‘That’s all taken care of!’ I looked up to meet her stormy-gray eyes. ‘What do you mean? Taken care of? How?’ ‘It actually turns out that Josh had asked Virgil to take me – so I can break it off! He wants to go with Honor anyway!’ ‘Wait – wait – wait…how did you figure this all out?’ ‘I over heard the boys talking – Josh – Virgil and Charlie – all three of them!’ She was getting more excited by the minute. ‘T-then why did he put his arm around you?’ Ok – so I had finally found something that could out wit the great Hermione Jean Granger. ‘He was pulling off the act – for Josh that is – so that Josh wouldn’t have to worry about any other guys asking me out!’ She smiled another extraordinary smile. ‘That still doesn’t make any sense…’ ‘Josh had paid him off. He didn’t think that I would get asked buy anyone he would approve of – and he didn’t want to see me moping around for not being able to go!’ And yet she smiled once more. ‘Oh…and y-you’re not mad about that?’ ‘No! I get to go with Jasper now!’ She sung the name – catching the attention once again of the surrounding students – and began to dance where she stood, trying to pull me into her twirls. ‘Victory – Victory – people are staring!’ I hissed – I never was one that liked being the center of all the attention – or maybe it was because I wasn’t use to it, Harry always got it, I always got just the extra light reflecting off of him – nothing of my own where I was the other part to a pair. ‘I’m living! I couldn’t give a damn! I’m going to the Ball with JASPER CULLEN!’ She sang once more. ‘Victory – oh – you’re right!’ I smiled back. I joined in and soon we where dancing all around the hall – just living in the moment. That was – until our potions teacher showed up. Professor Snape. Just what we needed! Victory and I stopped where we were and dropped our head – neither of us making eye contact with the professor’s death black eyes. ‘Well-well-well. Ms. Hale.’ He directed his glower towards the young girl – who kept her face down. ‘And Ms. Knight, is it?’ He said – turning towards me. I gulped and nodded. ‘Well – we do have a strict policy here Ms. Knight.’ Boy do I know! ‘Do you two have anything to say?’ He hissed. We both shook our heads no. ‘No? Well then I will just have to see you two after classes – for detention. And 15 points from Gryffindor for each of you!’ He said with a smirk. I scowled. Even here he takes any chance to give a Gryffindor a detention and take points! Hump! Victory nodded once more and I crossed my arms – not thinking that I was still in the presence of the devil. ‘Do you have a problem with that Ms Knight?’ ‘I-well…’ Why add more time to it? I shook my head once more. ‘Good – then let class begin.’ He said in his usual Slytherin coated tone. He walked into the class while all of us scurried to follow. Once we had all taken our seats – Victory by me and the boys each paired off into twos – and class begun on Memory Potions. Snape droned on and on about the ingredients needed and the directions that were to be closely followed and not – he looked especially at Jayson and Charlie when he said this – in reverse order to see what may happen. Once he finished he told us to turn to page 153 and begin. Victory – I discovered – was excellent at Potions. We finished a few minutes before Vladimir and David, who – for some odd reason – had chosen to be paired together. Next came Jasper and Josh, followed shortly by Virgil and Jayson. Soon after Honor and another fourth year boy where finished. And then the fun began. Poinsettia – who had pushed Jayson from his spot next to Charlie – hadn’t been focusing on the temperature of the cauldron and instead focused on the Gryffindor’s Seeker. The temperature had risen so high that the cauldron began to bubble over – the blonde – still totally oblivious to the potion – was now adding the last ingredient to the pot. ‘Hey Poinsettia – I think that you sh—’ And that was all the red-head managed. The potion – that was suppose to be teal instead of the dark brown that it was – had blown and now covered the two from head to foot. The class room erupted into all different varieties of laughter at the two. I was smirking instead of joining in – in my book – they had gotten what they deserved. Yet still – I felt bad for Charlie. I guess that’s what love does to you. Wait – did I just say love? No – like – strongly like –not love. Oh who am I kidding! My carefree smile turned down – which Victory quickly took notice to. ‘Hey – Journey what’s wrong?’ She asked – trying to gain back the breath she had lost to the laughing. ‘Nothing – just – we—nothing.’ I muttered. ‘Alright – A-are you sur—’ ‘Hey Victory!’ Jasper called over the crowd. Her head shot up to catch the blonde’s priceless blue eyes. A wine-red ran down her cheek-bone as she mumbled a hello back. I rolled my eyes. ‘Go head – we’re finished anyway.’ She looked over to me – double checking my offer. ‘Go.’ I pushed her playfully towards her Jasper. After the first few jitters had settled between the two they began to talk like year-old friends. Comfortable in the others presents. I smiled. Her glass heart was safe with this prince. It always will be too. My eyes fluttered from the two and turned to the other pair covered in their potion. And my heart sank. Even though they were covered – Poinsettia was still smiling at something Charlie had said and hanging on his arm like her life depended on it – and Charlie was letting her – going so far as to kiss her on the cheek. My eyes fell as a few stray tears stained my cheek. Victory’s heart was perfectly safe… My heart on the other hand was not. The only thing that I could wish was that my heart – even though I knew was glass – wasn’t close to shattering but to learning. Learning not to fall so hard. Learning not to let my eyes turn green at the sight. Learning not to give my heart over to someone with out a promise in return. If only it weren’t made of glass. Only if it wasn’t about to be shattered. XxXxX AN so anyone like this chapter? I did – even though it was a Dickens to write! So now for the CF… Character Fact: Jayson Daniels is names after a boy at my school – although he has no Y in his name – he’s annoying and cool to be around all at the same time – so that’s what I made his character out to be. XxXxX ‘I can’t believe that I have detention!’ ‘It’s only detention, and anyway the boys will be there.’ Victory reassured me – her smile growing with each word. ‘But I have never had detention – not even in second year when Harry, Ron, and me made the—’ ‘Who?’ ‘Um – my old school, yeah – we, um, ah – blew up a potion, lots of yelling, but still no detention!’ Except that the Polyjuice potion was perfect – I might add – and did not in fact exploded but worked perfectly well, except that I used the wrong hairs and— ‘Sure, Sure.’ She replied, waving her hand over her shoulder, ‘But we get to hang out with the boys for an hour!’ ‘You mean Jasper for an hour!’ I replied playfully. ‘Yeah, but Charlie is going to be there.’ She pointed out – she knew that I liked him – I just couldn’t keep it from her, she was my only girlfriend here – I couldn’t keep that from her. ‘Which only means that Poinsettia will be there too.’ ‘No - she has a perfect record; no way would she break it over something as stupid as—’ ‘Oh what? Did someone let the losers out tonight?’ A nail-scratching on a black bored seemed like a perfectly tuned harp when you heard that voice. ‘Maybe she would.’ Victory winced at the sound of the voice, her head sinking deep into her shoulders. I turned around to see the blonde come strutting up behind us – her hips swaying more then a ship in a storm and her top showing off more then anyone wanted to see. If there was an award for biggest-slut ding-ding-ding we have a winner! Victory began to hum the ‘wicked-witch-of-the-west’ under her breath as the blonde approached us. My eyes shifted to my left to meet Victory’s emerald-gray ones – how would she know that? ‘Dad’s a muggle.’ She whispered and began to hum a bit louder. ‘What is that ghastly tune you are whistling?’ the blonde asked once she was close enough to hear. ‘Nothing – nothing at all.’ She said - trying to silent her laughter. ‘Well what ever it is – stop, it’s giving me a headache.’ ‘Not like the one you’re giving us.’ I whispered, casually blowing a stray curl from my eye. ‘What was that Knight?’ She asked, coming over to me and – some how – towering a good couple of inches over me. I glanced down towards her feet – there on her elfin feet where the highest black heeled straps that I had ever seen, ugliest too I might add. Does she seriously think she can intimidate me? ‘Wow is some one intrigued by the floor? How very mature of you Knight – very, very mature.’ She said crossing her arms and – keeping her head held high – looking down at me. Likes she’s one to talk about maturity! As if she ever - well – I’m not one to talk about it either…I guess maybe – ‘Poinsettia – this is too much! Who really cares? Let him decide!’ I yelled – maybe a little to loud – just a little. Victory placed her hand gently on my arm, supporting me – but also making sure that I wasn’t about to hit her with as much force as I could muster. The blonde stooped down – loosing her balance but gaining it right back – and looked me square in the eye. ‘I don’t think so – you know how boys are at this age, so confused and naïve. Sometimes you just have to,’ she stood up – shoving of the outfit she had worn, ‘show them what they want.’ Fine – there goes me attempt at playing nice. She wants a war – she picked the wrong person to go against. I might only show my brains – but believe me my tongue can be just as cutting as hers. Worse even. ‘Yeah if you’re a chit looking to get in bed. Of course you’re the girl to go to – that’s the only reason guys go to you yah know, why else would they? Certainly not for your brains.’ She scoffed, ‘You’re just jealous!’ ‘Oh am I? Really, you are probably so easy to bed that a boy doesn’t even have to give you more then one compliment! Probably not even any at all! Your worse then Malfoy.’ the last part I whispered more so to my self then her or Victory. ‘See your just jealous, cause Charlie would rather be with me!’ She said – her voice was betraying her façade, she was loosing her upper hand – both of us knew it. ‘Yeah, go ahead have him! If he’s that shallow why would I want him?’ I hissed – Charlie wasn’t like that, I knew him – well, I knew what he would grow to be – I hope. ‘Well – that’s just-just-just…’ And she lost. ‘I don’t give a freaking damn what the hell tha– ahh! This is too much drama! I quite! Have him! I don’t care anymore! Just. Leave. Me. Alone!’ I yelled and took off down the hall. The tears began to flow, hot as they fell down my nose and off my chin. ‘Journey!’ Victory yelled after me – I could hear her running after me, her small feet could – surprisingly – keep up with me. I ran until I was as far away as I could carry myself – even then I pushed myself until I froze. It was all that I could do to get myself away from my problems – away from her – away from him – away from it all! And then my knees gave up and buckled. I fell where I was, my body spread out across the cold ground of the court yard. ‘Oh.’ Victory came and kneeled down next to me, gently rubbing her hand in circles between my shoulder blades. ‘It’s going to be fine. Truly it is – she’s just jealous.’ She cooed. She really was good at comforting, a lot better then I had been with her. ‘No – she’s not!’ I cried. ‘Well that’s not—’ ‘Journey!’ I heard a Scottish accented voice yell, followed by swift – but some how graceful – sounding steps. ‘Vladimir.’ I smiled while whipping a few stray tears – I knew that he would come. XxXxX His Thoughts XxXxX I can’t believe that I got detention – although it was so worth it – just to see her face— ‘Well – that’s just-just-just…’ Wait that’s Brown – what the hell? I peered around the corner. ‘I don’t give a freaking damn what the hell tha– ahh! This is too much drama! I quit! Have him! I don’t care anymore! Just. Leave. Me. Alone!’ And with that she took off down the hall. And that’s sis, oh crap – why the hell does everyone have to pick on her? Ahh! My hand flew to the back of my head and grabbed a hand full of my tresses and pulled. I guess this is what being an older brother feels like – but I don’t know how to handle a girl-fight. What am I going to do? I stuck my head back around the corner – here comes the blonde from hell – strutting like nothing happened. ‘Hey Brown.’ I called, stepping out from the corner. My eyes caught sight of the small fourth year running after Hermione – Victory, I think her name was? She’ll be alright - until I finish here anyway. ‘What do you want Nix?’ She said, flipping her hair over her shoulder and walking towards me. ‘It’s Nyx, and what the hell was that about?’ My hands curling into fists. A warm shudder ran down my spin sending adrenalin through my veins, adding coals to my already heated temper. ‘What was what about?’ Examining her nails, she looked up from behind her thin eyelashes. ‘You know what I mean.’ My teeth clenched so tight that my jaw began to ache – and my hair must have changed by now – I was too steamed for it not to. ‘Oh you mean with Knight – your girlfriend?’ She said, testing my temper. ‘I mean it, what did you say?’ My nails dug into my skin, my knuckles turning bone white. The adrenalin reached my head and I grew dizzy. Everything seemed to hit at once. Brown playing coy. Charlie playing with both of the girls emotions. Victory running after her when I should have been the once going. Her tears. And then it hit. My sight left me – as if someone had put iced glass in front of me. The veils cascaded down until it was all I could see – the ice shrouded the glass until it was a foggy white. Nothing else was clear – everything was faded. ‘What is wrong with you? Did your losernosity finally catch up with you?’ She taunted. What an idiot – doesn’t she know that isn’t even a word? An image began to appear outside of the glass. Dull at first – but growing stronger with each passing of time. My mouth fell slightly – trying to speak, but feeling as if it was shut eternally. The image was so far away – I couldn’t make out the image clearly. It looked like two people standing close together – one on the ground, the other hovering over the first. What the… It was Hermione – on the ground. With the fourth year standing over her. Victory. What – I haven’t seen this – what’s happening? And then, just like it had come, it was gone. ‘Hermione.’ I breathed. ‘Who?’ ‘Sod off,’ I pushed pass the dumbfounded blonde and took off down the corridor. I ran until I could hear the gentle sobs of Hermione Granger. ‘No – she’s not!’ ‘Well that’s not—’ ‘He-Journey!’ I yelled running across the court yard to reach were the two girls where. She was right – I did have to work on not calling her Hermione in front of anyone! ‘Vladimir.’ She whispered, whipping her eyes free of the tears. Her voice sounded calm – secure even. She knew that I was going to be there – I could just feel it. Just like I knew where she was going to be. XxXxX Her Thoughts XxXxX ‘Journey what happened?’ Vladimir asked - his Scottish accent as strong as ever. ‘It was that Brown girl.’ Victory answered – her voice coated in venom. ‘Yeah – I saw her – in the hall. A-are you alright?’ Vladimir whispered – beginning to hover over me like a protective father. ‘I’m fine vampire. I just need to get up.’ I pulled my elbows under me and started to push myself up only to have a gentle – yet firm – hand push back on my shoulder. ‘M-maybe you should lie down for a while – you never know when the stress will catch up with ya.’ My eyes locked on his – a dark chocolate brown with gold speckles – he was relaxing but keeping his guard up. ‘I’m fine – I just really need to get up.’ I said. ‘Humph.’ He sighed and stood – giving his hand to held me up. ‘Hey – um Victory could I talk to Vladimir – alone for a bit?’ ‘Yeah – s-sure.’ She stood up and brushed herself off. ‘Hey, you two aren’t going to kiss are you?’ She joked. I laughed, ‘No – we just need to talk for a bit.’ ‘Ok then,’ She winked, ‘bye Journey.’ ‘See you during detention.’ I waved to her retreating back. ‘Are you really ok Hermione?’ He whispered – his eyes changing to a nervous green. ‘Your eyes do change with your moods ya know.’ I replied – trying – desperately – to change the subject. ‘How so?’ He asked – going along with the change. ‘Well when you’re sad, there topaz. When you’re happy they are some shade of blue, when you’re clam and relaxing their brown – sometimes speckled gold if you are still a bit worried – when you’re mad they are a crimson red – quiet creepy actually – when your nervous there green like they are now,’ I pointed towards his eyes. ‘Sure, sure, but are you alright?’ He asked – changing the subject back. ‘Oh! Oh! And when you are trying to distract someone they change to that clear silver shade.’ I smiled as innocently as I could with out breaking out laughing. He rolled his eyes. ‘So – what did she say any way?’ ‘There’s that silver again.’ ‘Come on – I’m being serious!’ He said, bumping me with his elbow. ‘Hey! You could give someone a bruise when you do that!’ I said – mocking him from earlier that week. ‘Ha-ha.’ He stuffed his hands in his front pockets and began down the path towards the corridor. ‘Fine – she just-just – she started to go about – well about stuff.’ ‘Charlie stuff.’ He said – a statement not a question. I nodded – why do I bother to tell vampire everything? Oh right! Because he asked. ‘Vampire.’ I breathed – no way could he possibly hear that. ‘You have to come up with a better catch phrase.’ Or maybe he could. ‘Whatever.’ I huffed. ‘Seriously that’s really—’ ‘Ahh! Mr. Nyx and Ms. Knight so kind of you to grace us with your presents!’ a wheezy voice said with a deep cackle. ‘Sorry Mr. Filch.’ We replied in unison. ‘Yes, well come join the group you brats – we don’t have all night!’ He replied – motioning us to come over. We ran over to where the group was. There was a total of nine of us there to serve detention this evening. Charlie and Jayson had played a prank on Professor Snape – something about a shocking pen. The tall weedy stature of David Alister stood off to the side – almost hiding behind Charlie and Jasper. Apparently he had fallen victim to some cure – but he got the blame form Snape – of course. Jasper had fallen asleep in Potions and had been given detention straight away. There was another girl off to the side – her straight dark-brown hair was pulled back half-up while two small braids fell where her bangs should have been. She was dressed in the weirdest cloths – it was a mix of her school uniform and 80’s muggle cloths, a black ribbon was around her neck – replacing any thoughts of a different necklace. She seemed really out of place with the dreaming look etched on her face. Vladimir had done something – he didn’t quite tell me the details earlier – just that he had detention – from Snape – surprise, surprise. I didn’t know what Poinsettia had done – and I honestly don’t care. The only one who had escaped Snape’s detentions this evening were Josh – and it showed on everyone’s faces that they just couldn’t figure out how. ‘Ok so I’m going to split you up into three groups,’ he said holding up three fingers, ‘ok so lets see…Weasley - Cullen you will be working in the book room,– down the hall – Ms. Colbert you will be joining them, Brown, Nyx, and…’ Not me – please not me – anyone but me please not— ‘Hale – you two will be working down in the second book room.’ He smirked as Victory grimaced. Yes! Wait – oh damn Victory is going to kill her! ‘And Alister and Knight you will be working in the trophy room.’ Not good – this is not good – how am I… ‘Vladimir – pst – Vladimir.’ I hissed. ‘What?’ He asked. ‘Please – please make sure Victory doesn’t kill Brown.’ He smirked, ‘I can’t make any promises – I might just join in.’ ‘Vampire…’ I whispered – putting up my best puppy eyes. He rolled his – now – stormy gray eyes. He was annoyed. ‘Sure – I promise she will still be breathing when detention is over.’ ‘Vladimir.’ ‘Fine, fine. Promise.’ He said crossing his heart. ‘Thank yo—’ ‘What are you all standing around ay? Get to work – shoo, shoo.’ The grounds keeper hissed. All of us scattered. Vladimir kept his promise and walked between the two girls. Jasper looked after Victory – his face saddened at the separation. He was hopping for some time with her – I could place money on the fact. But either way he left with Charlie and the Colbert girl. And that only left— ‘You ready to go?’ I low voice asked. I turned to face the tall blonde. He had to be at least eight inches taller then Vladimir’s five-6. I nodded and followed him down the hall in silence. This was going to be a very long evening. XxXxX ‘James Potter.’ I whispered – running my hands over the familiar name. ‘What did you say?’ David asked from across the room – his was standing up, whipping off one of the taller trophy. ‘James Potter,’ I held up the old trophy, ‘for Quidditch.’ I said, whipping away invisible dirt. People cleaned this room every single time they got detention – and that was a lot of people. But some how David had found all the dirt that was left. My eyes left the trophy for a few moments to take in the Keepers appearance. He held him self very humbly – he stood to his full six foot one height but he held him self in an approachable way. His hair had grown a little – falling into his hazel eyes and to his the middle of his neck. His dark green-brown pants and long sleeved black shirt probably wasn’t the best thing to wear – all the hidden dust had covered his shirt and dusted a thick layer onto his cargo pants. His tresses were sticking in some areas from all the collected dirt and a few smudges found their way across his face – two across his left cheek, one across his smile line on the right, and one dot square on his nose. And yet he was still scrubbing as hard as he could at the three foot trophy – totally oblivious to his appearance. ‘Hey – David.’ He looked up – his hair falling to the right, reviling another long smear across his forehead – probably from the back of his hand. ‘Hum – you have a little something right there.’ I said – stiffening a laugh and motioning to my forehead. He whipped his hand across his forehead – bad choice. Now his forehead, eyebrows, and the top of his eyelids were black. I couldn’t hold it any longer – I blew. I looked up to his confused eyes. ‘Here,’ I walked towards the smeared blonde and pulled out my rag, ‘there – now you’re clean again.’ ‘Thanks.’ He mumbled and turned back to the trophy. I sighed – what was with him? Did he just not talk? ‘Hey David.’ He turned his attention back to me as I shifted my eyes from his compelling gaze, ‘Well I was just wonder – is everything alright with us? I mean – your not made at me right?’ He shook his head – his hair flopping everywhere. ‘Words please.’ ‘No.’ He said turning back to his work. ‘I was just wondering – you haven’t said anything for twenty-minutes.’ ‘Don’t take it personally – I don’t talk a lot – especially during detentions.’ He replied. ‘Sorry.’ I mumbled – walking back over to my side. A small sigh escaped the Keeper, ‘So – how did you get in detention?’ I smiled, ‘Me and Victory were caught goofing off in the hallway. Snape caught us. What happened to you?’ ‘You know the Triptio spell?’ he winced at the spells name. I nodded, ‘Yeah – the tripping hex.’ ‘Well, apparently someone jinxed me – I had been falling down all day – and, well, I fell when I was leaving Potions – I gave up trying to stay on my feet and just kind of sat there, and that’s when Snape came out.’ I grimaced – this wasn’t a good beginning. ‘Well Peeves was singing or something and he kind of – ran over me.’ He said, a light blush warming the bottoms of his ears. ‘And he gave you a detention for it?’ I asked. ‘Three.’ He mumbled. ‘That’s not fair.’ He shrugged, ‘It’s Snape though, and I’m a Gryffindor – its not suppose to be.’ ‘It’s still not fair.’ I mumbled. We both fell silent and kept scrubbing at the already shinning trophies. ‘Hey David.’ I called. He looked up – seriously I have to teach that boy some words. ‘Sorry about yelling at you – the other day, yeah know? In the library?’ He shrugged once more, ‘I’m use to it – doing what I’m told, and not always thinking things threw.’ ‘Well still – I’m sorry.’ ‘It’s fine – truly.’ He replied – reassuring me with a small smile. I smiled back before noticing the shine coming from his teeth. ‘David – you have braces?’ I asked – I had never seen a wizard with braces, they always fixed their teeth with magic – never the old fashion way. He nodded, closing his mouth instantly. ‘Their nice – you never see wizards using the muggle way.’ I smiled – trying to ease his embarrassment. ‘Well – that’s what I get for being muggleborn.’ His eyes stayed focused on his work – not bothering a glace my way. ‘I know what you mean – my parents are dentists.’ ‘Really?’ He finally looked up to meet my gaze. ‘Yeah – they are really obsessed with flossing - in a creepy sort of way.’ I smiled – finally, some common ground. He smiled back, his blue-braces shinning in the light. Maybe detention wasn’t going to be so dull. XxXxX ‘Ok so David, who was that girl with Jasper and Charlie?’ I asked as we walked down the hall. ‘Oh – that’s Ben, Benny Hollows – she’s a Slytherin, but she acts like a mix between that and a Gryffindor – everyone calls her a Slythindor.’ He replied – wincing slightly as her name. ‘Her names Ben?’ I asked – my eyes focused on my thoughts. ‘Yeah – short for…for—well, I don’t know what it’s short for – its just what everyone calls her.’ He shrugged. ‘Yeah – well she seems nice.’ ‘Yeah, except when she’s out in the Pitch – damn can that girl play.’ David replied – rubbing the back of his head. ‘What does she play?’ I smiled at his grimace. ‘Beater – and damn does she have an arm.’ His hand ran through his hair once more – making the layers stand out. ‘But you’re the Keeper! She can’t hit you!’ I replied. ‘She is part Slytherin, remember?’ I nodded, ‘And anyway once she has that bat in her hand she seems to go mad! Hitting everything that comes her way!’ ‘Ok…remind me not to piss her off at out next game.’ ‘Oh, that’s right – you excited for this weeks game?’ I laughed, ‘You mean, after I haven’t practiced with the team and I’m expected to hold a ball well trying to fly straight? Yeah – looking forward to it!’ He chuckled at my sarcasm, ‘Then why did you say yes?’ My eyes lowered in thought, ‘I guess – I just wanted to help out.’ He smiled, ‘Well – you’re going to do great. I’ve seen you fly – and the ball is actually quite easy to hold onto – you will probably the only one to score our points. With Jayson out, Virgil and Jasper are going to have problems adjusting to you. Not that they don’t like you – they just—well—haven’t played with you enough.’ I smiled, ‘Thanks – and I promise, I’ll keep the Quaffle away from you as much as I can.’ ‘Well – that will be a change of pace!’ He smiled – his braces polished in the moon’s light. I shouldered his arm, ‘Yeah – lets just get back to the group.’ XxXxX ‘Journey! I have to talk with you!’ Vladimir called, running towards me and David. ‘I’ll see you later Knight, oh – we have a practice tomorrow.’ He gave a slight wave as he continued down the hall. His braces gave one last shine as he smiled at the two of us. ‘I won’t Alister.’ I smiled at his turned back – it was nice knowing of at least one other muggleborn. ‘Hermione!’ Vladimir hissed. ‘Gosh – Vamp what is it?’ ‘I need to talk to you.’ He grabbed my elbow and pulled me back towards the courtyard. ‘Yeah, I kinda got that part.’ I pulled my elbow free, ‘What? What is it?’ ‘I had a vision – I think.’ He whispered. ‘You think? You either think or you know!’ I hissed. The air around us filled with frustrated, ‘All I know is that I saw you in pain, and three minutes later I found you the same way.’ I blew the stray curls from my eyes, ‘We need to talk to Dumbledore.’ XxXxX Pronunciation: Triptio {trip-t-o} – the curse I made up that causes people to trip over air Dumbledore sat at his desk – the small golden turner held in front of his eyes. ‘Albus, why are you having you having me make the potion when you have the Turner?’ Severus Snape hissed. ‘Because, she need to live for a while – when she gets back to her time her childhood will be gone, sorrow will replace her smile and pain will replace her joy. And anyway,’ His eyes twinkled as his face lit with a smile, ‘I think in the future, a young third year witch might need her Turner to begin her life’s journey.’ Dumbledore opened the side-draw of his desk and placed the golden-necklace safely inside, ‘How is the potion coming along Severus?’ The Potions Master sneered, ‘I need another two weeks to get it perfect – especially if we are sending to of them back.’ ‘It will be in perfect time – fate is taking it’s course.’ He whispered – the Potions master sneered once more before standing and leaving the Headmaster to his thoughts. XxX ‘Oh damn, oh damn – oh damn!’ I hissed running down the hall. ‘I really wish that you would think of a new word.’ Vladimir whispered, his accent thicker then usual. ‘Well, give me another one then because I really need to say something!’ I hissed – picking up speed as we turned the corner. ‘Oh damn.’ He froze where he stood – his eyes grew slightly. ‘Oh really original, not like that was different from what I was saying earlier.’ I replied sarcastically walking farther ahead of him. ‘What is wrong with—’ ‘Ahh, Ms. Knight. Out a little late aren’t you?’ I knew that voice – that cold-evil voice that made a dementor seem like a bunny. ‘P-p-pro-profess-professor S-Snape.’ I froze and turned towards the greasy-haired man, ‘He-he…he…ha…’ I replied nervously. ‘Now tell me, what are you two doing out her, at this time, alone?’ He looked from me to Vladimir. ‘Well ya see we—we-um, well we…um are going to…ha….yeah see…we—’ ‘We’re looking for Dumbledore, is that a problem?’ Vladimir hissed. Snape’s eyebrow disappeared into his mess of nasty-hair, ‘Oh really?’ ‘Yes, really.’ Vladimir replied back. ‘Well I don’t think—’ ‘I think they are Severus.’ Dumbledore said from the gargoyle, ‘Good night.’ Snape sneered, hissed a goodnight and strode down the hall giving us one last threatening look. ‘Ahh, I was expecting to see you two sometime, Ms. Granger, Mr. Nyx.’ Dumbledore motioned towards his office, ‘Come inside – away from prying ears.’ I followed Vladimir as we walked up the steps. We each took a seat in front of the cherry-desk. ‘So what is it that’s troubling you two?’ Dumbledore asked, taking the seat at his desk. ‘I saw her in trouble.’ Vladimir said, leaning of his chair towards the Headmaster. ‘Yes?’ Dumbledore replied, ‘And?’ Vladimir stared at him dumbfounded, ‘I saw her’–he pointed to me–‘in trouble’–he pointed over his shoulder–‘threw my eyes!’ He finished by pointing to his eyes. ‘Yes, that is how most of us see, threw out eyes – what did you expect, so see threw your ears?’ ‘Ahhh!’ Vladimir threw his arms in the air and leaned back in his chair. I watched as a smile appeared across Dumbledore’s face. He knew what Vladimir was talking about – he was just having a bit of fun. ‘So you where depending on each other – for strength?’ And then it clicked. The Seer’s vision. My thoughts played over the words. They depend on the other with a strength that has never been seen. That was what Dumbledore had just said – so what was the line after that? Something to do about power – something… ‘They share powers that have never been seen, each different but the same,’ A voice whispered next to me. I jumped as I was pulled from my thoughts. I turned to Vladimir – his streaks a confused-shade of blue and his eyes ice-clear – who was just staring at Dumbledore as he spoke. ‘I thought it would have something to do with that.’ He whispered. ‘So-so, me seeing her,’ Once again Vladimir pointed to me, ‘was suppose to happen?’ ‘Yes.’ Dumbledore replied, leaning on the smooth cherry-wood. ‘Wait,’ I bit my lip as I searched for the correct words, ‘so-so-so…well, what’s my power?’ The old-Headmaster shrugged, ‘Only time will tell.’ ‘Wait-wait-wait-wait-wait!’ Vladimir shook his hands in front of him, ‘So I can see when she’s in trouble?’ ‘Slow much?’ I whispered and fell silent when I caught his annoyed red-eye, ‘Sorry.’ I whispered quickly – watching as his eyes turned back to light-blue. ‘Yes, it appears so.’ Dumbledore replied. ‘So when should I know?’ I asked a strong hint of annoyance in my voice. ‘Possibly a few days, maybe a week or two.’ He replied – his eyes twinkling happily like usual. ‘A week or two?!?!’ I yelled. ‘Nothing like this has been seen before Ms. Granger.’ Dumbledore started, ‘But get some rest, and don’t fret about the future. You do have your first Quidditch game this week.’ He added as an after thought. ‘I know.’ I whispered – leaning back and crossing my arms. ‘Well, you two best get off to bed.’ He said – his eyes going to the door and back to us. Vladimir and I stood in unison, ‘Night Professor.’ I whispered and started towards the door. ‘Yeah, Night.’ Vladimir mumbled and followed after me. ‘I have my power and you don’t!’ Vladimir sang once we stepped down into the hallway. ‘Shut-up.’ I pushed into him with my shoulder. ‘Oh, is someone – jealous?’ He replied, starting off down the hall. ‘Me? J-jealous? Of you? As if!’ I strode off past him. I heard his feet coming up behind me, ‘You’re jealous.’ He whispered and took off down the hall at a run. ‘I am not!’ I yelled, and took off behind him. XxX ‘Ok! Your doing great Journey!’ Jasper called, Josh, the other Chaser, flew up next to him and whispered something to him. ‘Ay! Journey, fly other her for a second!’ He motioned for me. I blew the stray bangs from my eyes and flew over to where they where suspended. ‘Yeah?’ I called – my broom coming to a stop in front of the two Chasers. ‘Josh here just came up with a new trick, ay! David come over here! We need your help!’ Jasper called towards the three hoops at the far end of the Pitch. David flew over from his place at the hoops and came to a stop next to me; the Beaters, Virgil and Bill, following close behind him. ‘So here’s what Josh suggested. He thinks that we should try the Wicks-Spot.’ Jasper said – looking around to each of us in turn. ‘Ay,’ Virgil nudged me with his elbow, ‘You think you’re up to a trick?’ ‘I’m up to anything you throw my way.’ I replied defiantly. ‘Alright.’ Virgil flew off towards the far end of the Pitch, ‘Coming Bill?’ Bill gave me a smile of encouragement before following after him. ‘Alright.’ I replied mocking his voice, ‘Yes, because I’m just a girl – I don’t know what I’m doing.’ I heard David laugh from my side. I smiled silently to myself. ‘Oy! What are you guys doing up there?’ Charlie replied, flying up next to us. ‘We’re trying out a new trick, Josh’s idea.’ Jasper replied. ‘Yeah, well, get back to it – we have one game left before we play for the cup.’ He growled, looking closely to me. ‘Yeah, I know.’ I snapped. ‘Good – then get to it.’ He snapped back and flew back over to the Hoops, ‘David, come on – you have a lot of work to do before you’re ready for tomorrow.’ David grimaced at Charlie’s back before turning to me, ‘Don’t take it personally – he’s just sorta—sorta stressed, always gets that way before a big game and all—’ ‘Alister! Now!’ Charlie called over the Pitch. David gave one last grimace and flew off to the Hoops. ‘So that’s Charlie when he’s mad…’ I sighed; maybe he wasn’t the guy I knew. Maybe he was the exact opposite of what I was expecting of him. Maybe… ‘Oh no,’ Jasper smirked, ‘That’s Charlie when he’s jealous.’ I looked towards him, ‘What? I—I don’t understand.’ Jasper rolled his eyes and flew to his position, ‘You will, believe me, you will.’ He called. ‘Oh great.’ I hissed and flew off to practice the new Wicks-Spot trick. XxX Today was the day. The day. My first Quidditch game. Ever. Damn, I hope that I don’t screw up. My robes fit loosely over my small figure. The red and gold shone as we stepped into the sun – Granger shone in the beautiful Gryffindor gold on my back. My fingers tightened around my broom as we took our places on the ground. ‘Mount your brooms.’ Madam Hooch called. Everyone mounted their broom and kicked off; I hovered for a while before I took my place in the circle of Gryffindors and Ravenclaws. The whistle blew and the balls where let out. My eyes turned everywhere trying to keep up with the quick-pace. Charlie flew off after the Snitch, while Bill and Virgil where hitting the Bludgers towards the opposing team. My eyes went to Jasper who was flying towards the Ravenclaw Keeper. 10 points. ‘Get your head in the game Knight!’ Josh called as he flew past me, trying to catch up with the Ravenclaw Chaser. And I snapped – everything fell into place, I knew what I was suppose to do and I could feel my hands moving over the broom so that I could fly after them. Josh stole the ball from the Chaser and came tearing down the field. ‘Knight get open!’ He yelled. I flew under the players that where double-teaming him and he dropped the ball down to me. I passed to Jasper who passed back and scored. 20 to 0. In no time we where ahead by thirty, and then sixty, and then hundred. Josh’s play worked perfectly. The Ravenclaws could keep up with us. And I was having the time of my life – for once I wasn’t just the bookworm or the brains behind the hero – I was an equal. Sure Harry and Ron would always be with me, but I knew that they were best friends – I had always been just the third one of the Trio. ‘Knight, to your left!’ Virgil called – I swerved just in time to miss the Bludger, ‘Sorry! I could reach it in time!’ I nodded and took of the field once more. ‘Cullen over—’ ‘And Charlie Weasley has caught the Snitch! The Gryffindors are headed for the Cup!’ The announcer called. All of us flew down to the Pitch in a blur of red and gold. All the Gryffindors came down from the stands and met us on the ground. ‘Well done! Well done!’ Vladimir called pulling me into a hug (his streaks a mix of Gryffindor gold and red). ‘Thanks!’ I replied. ‘Come on – let’s get you out of the lime-light for a while, it might just go to your head!’ He whispered pulling me away from the crowd – and from one very jealous green-eyed Weasley. ‘Here I want you to meet someone.’ He whispered once we were off the Pitch. ‘Who?’ I asked – shouldering my broom – my ponytail sticking to the back of my neck. ‘Daniel.’ He whispered, leading me to the back of the stands. ‘Daniel?’ I pondered the name, ‘Oh! Your brother?’ ‘Yup.’ We turned the corner and I was met by a similar version of Vladimir – only this boy had no streaks in his hair and his eyes where a clear-cut blue gem color. His hair was the same color but it was shorter, and he had bangs that hid his forehead. ‘Hermione this is Daniel, Daniel this in Hermione.’ Vladimir said, I jabbed him, hard, in the ribs. ‘It’s nice to met you Hermione.’ The boy smiled slightly, ‘I’ve heard a lot about you.’ ‘Oh-oh you have?’ I hissed threw clenched teeth and turned towards the blonde next to me. ‘I asked Dumbledore, he said that it was alright.’ He shrugged. ‘Oh and if he said it was alright to fall of the Astronomy Tower would you think that it was alright?’ I spat in frustration. He shrugged once more, ‘Probably.’ ‘Ah.’ I scoffed with a smile. ‘Come on, lets get something to eat.’ Vladimir replied – looking to Daniel for support, he nodded in agreement. ‘Yeah, I’ll met you there, I need to change – I’m sweaty and all…’ I whispered – the two boys turned up their noses playfully, causing me to laugh, ‘I’ll be right back.’ I took off across the Pitch to the changing room. ‘So, good game Knight.’ I turned to the voice – Charlie, of course. ‘Thanks.’ I replied pulling on my jacket, ‘You too.’ ‘So…’ He leaned against the doorframe – still clothed in his uniform, ‘Going to celebrate with your boyfriend? Ay?’ I frowned, ‘What’s it to you?’ ‘Well it’s just I—well, you two are pretty close, aren’t you?’ He replied. And I snapped. ‘You know if you took three MINUTES to take your head out of your arse you would be able to tell that we weren’t dating you insufferable bastard!’ I hissed, ‘Actually – I take that back, you’re not a bastard because you know who the bloody-hell your parents are, as do I – and they’re really nice and I don’t want to insult them so no your not a bastard—’ His eyes lit with confusion, ‘You know my parents?’ ‘You’re a git! A bloody pillock of a git!’ I called marching up to him and standing as tall as I could, ‘You are so stupid, everyone else figured it out! Hell even the boys on the team figured it out!’ ‘Wait-wait-wait! So you two aren’t dating?’ He asked, backing away slightly. ‘Oh! Very good! It only took him what? FOREVER TO FIGURE IT OUT!’ I yelled – my voice reaching octaves even I didn’t now I had. ‘But – wait, Poinsettia and—’ Charlie started to point around the room to invisible people as he processed his thoughts. ‘Oh yes! We can’t forget about her! Can we? She’s your date to the ball, right?’ I jeered. ‘Well, I-I-I….’ He stuttered. ‘Well – everyone knows you two are going together, might as well ask her now, don’t you think?’ I crossed my arms in emphasis, ‘Actually, I don’t care – go, don’t go – I truly don’t give a bloody-hell of a damn!’ ‘Well – I, I didn’t mean…I’m—well, please I’m…’ And I walked out, leaving him to his thoughts. There, give him something to think about there! I thought to myself You were a little harsh…don’t you think No Well, you were. You should go apologize. Apologize? You’re mental! Well, I’m in your thoughts so technically I am mental! ‘Ahhh!’ I huffed shaking my head. Why can’t everything just be a simple yes or no? ‘Ahh!’ I started to rub my head now as I debated with myself. You’re going to forgive him eventually – face it, you love him. ‘Damn – why are they always right!’ I hit my temple and started back across the field to Vladimir and Daniel. Either way – the voice in my head (and, yes I thought I was mental while I thought this) was right. He could do anything, everything even! And I would still forgive that Charlie Weasley. XxX Authors Note: SO SO SO SO! Sorry for the long wait guys, I don’t think this is some of my best work but hey! another chapter is up! Hope you like it – and oh yeah — review! (please?) ‘Oh! The ball is going to be just wonderful!’ Victory sung – twirling around my room in her dress, bare footed. Honor – Victory’s fourth year friend – sat on the end of my bed sowing the hem of her dress…the Muggle way. ‘Ow!’ She sucked on her finger after pricking herself for he hundredth time. ‘Honor, really – I can do a simple spell to fix it. Please? You’re going to hurt yourself.’ I called from my closet. ‘No it’s fine—ow! Ok, do the damn spell, please!’ She hissed, throwing the dress onto the bed. I took out my wand and walked over to the foot of the bed. I flicked my wrist and whispered Reparo Stichtara and the hem was at perfect length. ‘Thank you Journey!’ She whispered – holding up the dress to double check the length. I laughed, ‘No, problem.’ The black-silk dress shone in the sun-light coming in through my window. It was a simple dress – Honor had said it was a hand-me-down from her eldest sister, it was still beautiful whether it was a hand-me-down or brand new – it hung down to her feet, the spaghetti straps where as thin as thread while the Pink sash stood out as the main color source as a tie around the waist. ‘You two are going to look beautiful at the Ball Friday.’ I called over my shoulder – rummaging threw the trunk McGonagall had given me. ‘You will as well Journey – I saw your dress, you are going to be the prettiest one there!’ Victory said, still dancing around the room. I laughed slightly at the sight of her dancing with an invisible Jasper. ‘Well, at least you two have dates.’ I whispered – moving more stuff around my trunk. Victory, of course, was going with Jasper, and Honor had been asked by Daniel, Vladimir’s younger Ravenclaw brother. ‘Yeah, well Charlie would have—’ Victory started – only to have her eyes dart to the door. ‘What is it?’ I looked up at her uncompleted sentence. ‘Someone’s coming up the stairs – they sound pretty mad.’ She stopped her dancing and snuck over to the door – her ear glued to the wood. I rolled my eyes, ‘Seriously! Is everyone here a vampire or something?’ I whispered under my breath as I joined her at the door. ‘Damn that Weasley!’ A very high-feminine voice shrieked through the hallway. Victory, once again, started to hum the wicked-witch-of-the-west under her breath as the blonde drew closer. I nudged her slightly – straining my ears to listen to every detail. ‘How could he dump me days before the Ball?’ She shrieked – her voice growing higher with each syllable. ‘Technically he never asked her.’ Honor whispered – she came over to where the two of us stood. Although it was useless – since people probably in Ireland could her Poinsettia – we kept our ears glued to the door. ‘How could he dump me for that-that-that…half-blood! I mean, at least I am of pure blood—what does Journey Knight have that I don’t? As well as that Victory girl – I doubt she is of pure blood, what would Jasper see in a Mudblood like that—’ And that was all it took. ‘Hey Poinsettia!’ I stormed out the door, Victory following determinedly behind me, a few tears stained her beautiful gray eyes but other wise she held the aura of pure Gryffindor courage, while Honor following slightly more sheepishly. The blonde turned around with a classic Slytherin smirk – how she got into Gryffindor, I will never know. ‘Well-well-well, look what the cat dragged in.’ She stood – cross armed – a few of her clones behind her. ‘You can say anything you want about me, I’m sure as hell use to it, but don’t you dare say a thing against Victory.’ I threatened – stalking up to her and towering. ‘Or what?’ She taunted. I smirked, ‘Or I’ll hex you.’ I pulled out my wand threateningly and held it out. Her eyes grew immensely before she relaxed back into her usual evil composer. She turned her nose up, ‘You wouldn’t dare.’ ‘What to bet?’ I held my wand up – taking aim at her face, ‘I wonder how many pimples it would take to cover your face, and stay until the Ball. It would probably take a very powerful witch – I don’t know…maybe someone like—me?’ I held the wand ready to fire my jinx. Her hands flew to her face; her clones copied her actions, with a gasp. I pocket my wand, ‘You’re not worth it.’ I started back towards my room – Honor had already retreated in side (honestly, I couldn’t blame her – the Ball was just days away, who would want to have to deal with jinx acne?) – before I turned around and faced the blonde once more. ‘And another thing,’ My eyes turned threatening towards her, ‘I’m muggleborn – and I’m proud where my magic came from.’ And with that I turned on my heel and headed into the room. Poinsettia stood frozen for a moment before continuing towards her room. ‘Victory?’ I turned around looking for the young witch. ‘I’ll be right back.’ She whispered and flew down the stairs towards the common room. I looked to Honor, who just shrugged and walked back into the room. A few moments later a panting Victory came back into the room. ‘Wow – slow down Speed Racer!’ The two half-bloods turned to me with a confused look. I laughed nervously, ‘Muggle thing – so, where did you go Victory.’ She sat down, playfully, with a smile, ‘I know something you don’t know.’ She sung. ‘What?’ My curiosity won me over – usually, I would just ignore those kinds of taunts, but I was just too curious. ‘I just over heard the red-head talking to the rest of the Quidditch boys…’ She said – playing down her tone, trying to make it sound less exciting then it really was. ‘And??’ This was Honor – apparently, she was on the edge of her seat as well. ‘Well, this red-head confirmed to the evil-flower that he had never actually asked her to the Ball…although he said it much more like a gentleman then I think he should have…’ ‘Yes? Yes?’ I was almost falling off the bed trying to get all the details. ‘And to make a long story short…’ She was having to much fun with this. ‘You were down there for barley a minute!’ Honor smiled. Victory rolled her eyes, ‘Do you want to hear the story or not.’ Honor began to open her mouth I threw my hand over it and nodded energetically. ‘Well, let just say he’s planning to ask a certain brunet friend of ours to the Ball!’ The room filled with all three of our squeals and excited-screams. ‘You found that all out in under a minute?’ I whispered, quite amazed. She threw her hand over her heart dramatically, ‘I know – it’s truly a gift! One that I am just’ – she sighed here – ‘going to have to live with.’ I scoffed and threw my pillow at her – which she dodged. ‘Hey! I should get a thank you! It was my curious intuition that got this information for us!’ She threw the pillow back. I rolled my eyes and pulled Honor’s dress onto my lap and started to perfect some of the stitching, ‘Whatever Hale.’ And boys were the main subject for the rest of our girl day. XxX ‘Journey! Journey!’ Vladimir through open my door and came running in. ‘Vamp how did you—’ I closed my book as he walked into my room panting, ‘The stairs – how did you get up here?’ My thoughts raced as I looked down to my book, I was reading Twilight for the three hundredth time that year it seemed. ‘Oh, don’t tell me you have super speed as well!’ I joked as I stood up and walked over to him – thinking about the jinx on the girls stairs. ‘No—’ He let out a slight laugh as he tried to breath, ‘But please—do go—down to the—common room—surprise for you—go—now—please.’ I looked down to him as he stayed keeled over. ‘Alright but what—’ ‘Go!’ He breathed – grabbing at a stitch in his side, ‘Damn—those—stairs!’ I smiled as I walked out the door, ‘Go ahead and hang out here a little, catch your breath.’ I laughed as I walked out of the room – I could have sworn I saw him fall on the ground once I had closed he door. I slid down the flat-stone, now, slide with easy – wow, no wonder he was tired. My eyes looked up the steep hill before I continued into the main room. ‘So why did he want—’ My thought froze as I came into the Common Room. Candles where floating around the room, where I walked I saw red-petals on the cold-stone floor, the fire was ablaze – both warm and welcoming – and Charlie Weasley stood in the center of the room, his hair as messy as ever and an apologetic look held in his handsome eyes, a single red rose was held in front of him. ‘Oh…’ I whispered, emotions flooding over me. I was annoyed, but not, I was happy but wanted to stay mad, I was enjoying the fact that Poinsettia was probably up in her room pouting and I could taste slight revenge on my tongue. But most powerful one of all was what out shone all the others. What I said after the Quidditch Game was right – I would always forgive Charlie Weasley, because I loved Charlie Weasley. Charlie approached with slight hesitation, ‘Journey – I, well…here’ He handed me the rose. I took it with a slight laugh. ‘I – well, I just wanted to say…I was a…well, no truly I only meant—I know that you must hate me but…ah…’ His hand rubbed nervously behind his neck, ‘I’m sorry, I’m sorry I jumped to conclusions and for trying to-to make you jealous and all…’ I looked down at the rose and then back up to his twisted-blue colored eyes. ‘Um, will you go to the Ball with me?’ He blurted. Tears threatened to break threw my eyes – I had waited for this moment for my entire life it felt, I just never thought that I would have to go to the past to gain my future. ‘Yes, I’ll go to the Ball with you.’ I nodded – all thought of jealous and pain dissolved once he had uttered that simple sentence. ‘YES!’ Both Charlie and I turned towards the stairs just in time to see a very-blonde head and dark-brown head pull back from around the corner. I looked back to Charlie with a small smile, ‘Can we talk tomorrow? I think if Victory doesn’t get the details soon…she might just—explode.’ ‘Yeah-yeah, of course.’ He smiled back. I let the rose fill my nostrils as I turned and started back to the stairs. I tiptoed around the corner and peered around the side. Vladimir was holding Victory against his chest one of his hands securing her waist as she bounced with joy; the other covered her mouth from screaming her joy. ‘Victory!’ He hissed, ‘Do you want us to get caught?!?!’ ‘Oh, it’s to late for that…’ I took the last step from behind the wall and looked down at them, my arms crossed. Vladimir gave a nervous laugh as he let go of Victory and stood up. Victory, on the other hand, bounced up and grabbed me into a hug. ‘He asked you! I knew he would! I just KNEW it!’ She yelled – grabbing my hands and spinning around where we stood. I heard Vladimir laugh behind us as Victory came to the end of her dance. ‘Oh, don’t think that you’re off the hook mister!’ I whispered. He fell back into his nervous-silents. I nudged him with my elbow, ‘I’m just kidding.’ ‘Ahhh!’ Victory squealed, ‘I need all the details, come on!’ She started to pull me towards the stairs, and Vladimir laughed aloud as she continued to pull me up the steps. He smiled up at me. And that was when it happened. My thought froze as I focused on his light-teal blue eyes flecked with silver. Congrats sis – I’m proud of ya. I knew he would come around for a treasure like you. You deserve the best – and I think he can give that to ya. Vladimir’s voice rung as clear as day through my thoughts. ‘Vamp!’ I pulled my self from Victory’s death grip and ran down to him. His face twisted in confusion as I threw my arms around him and I pulled him into a hug. ‘What is it?’ He whispered. ‘I got my power! I got my power, I heard your thoughts! Just now, when you were talking about me—well, thinking about me!’ I whispered pulling back from the embrace. ‘That’s great – but now I have nothing to hold over your head that I’m better at.’ I pushed his shoulder as I walked up to Victory, ‘Night Vamp.’ ‘Night Sis.’ He whispered and headed towards the boys stair case. So that was our powers – he could See when I was in trouble, and I can read-his thoughts when he is being protective, or is it encouraging? Oh well! I can think about it tomorrow! Because for tonight… I thought back to all that Charlie had done to ask me to the Ball… Tonight my thoughts were with Charlie… It was true…I would always forgive him…I loved him… And as long as I never saw him with Poinsettia again I would have no reason to kill him… I smiled slightly at the thought as Victory pulled me into the room and called Honor from her room to come join us. At least…I think that would be the only reason…hopefully… And with that I fell into the night with my girlfriends hanging on every word that I said. XxX AN Reparo Stichtara – (Ree-pair-o Stich-terra) ‘Victory you look beautiful!’ Honor said, gazing down at her friend. ‘Really? Do-do you think Jasper will like it?’ She replied nervously, her hands running over her dress and then her hair. ‘He is going to love you!’ I whispered – helping put the finishing touches on her make-up. ‘Really?’ Her innocent-eyes glittering in the light. I nodded, ‘Yes, of course!’ I smiled down at her before turning to the other fourth year, ‘You look beautiful, as well Honor.’ I replied – the girl looked slightly shy, but her aura was filled with humility. Her beautiful auburn-curls were held back in a knot, cascading down over her shoulders. Her dress was a perfect fit to her and she looked absolutely stunning. ‘Do you think he’ll like it?’ She whispered, running her hands over her torso. I nodded again and smiled, ‘Yes, he will love it.’ Honor looked to me and turned away with a blush. For a while now I had been noticing that she had been stealing a glace here and there, or shying away from the group when Joshua Hale would show up. Both Victory and I knew that Daniel and Honor had agreed to go as friends – but the other boys didn’t. Which Victory had pointed out, almost instantly – causing Honor to blush furiously – that Josh’s eyes had gone from stormy-grey to jealous-green lately. I turned my thought back to Charlie as I started to pin up my hair. ‘Charlie is just going to love you!’ Victory said, walking over and taking my hands, ‘I still don’t think he deserves you though.’ She smiled. I smirked, ‘Well – I don’t think Jasper deserves you either. I guess where’re just stuck at a fork in the road.’ Victory shook her head, ‘No – Jasper defiantly deserves me!’ And we all fell into a spell of laughter. ‘Well, lets get down there; we don’t want to keep the boys waiting.’ Honor whispered over our laughs. ‘Yes, we won’t want to do that, now, then would we?’ Victory winked to me as we left the dorm. XxX Charlie sat on the couch next to Jasper who was tapping his foot nervously. Vladimir sat in the corner arm chair staring at the two boys, his hands folded under his chin. Bill sat in one of the four chairs at the table playing a game of Exploding Snaps with Jayson (whose arm was finally healed) and Virgil (who looked bored out of his mind.) Josh sat in the fourth chair bounce one leg, checking his watch every now and then. They had been sitting like this for awhile, the two Quidditch players staring into the fire, with Vladimir looking from Jasper to Charlie and back again and again. While the game of Exploding Snaps continued, with Josh still bouncing. David was the weirdest one of the group. He wasn’t dressed in the usual penguin-black and white dressing robes like all the other boys. No, he was dressed in a Muggle long-sleeve midnight-black shirt, his sleeves rolled up to his elbows and his Royal-Purple tie was loosened down to his third shirt-button – his collar up. That wasn’t even the cherry on top, he was laying – upside-down, mind you – against the wall, his legs crossed as he looked over the room threw his upside down eyes. But none of the boy’s took notice, really, because they were all focused on their own thoughts. Charlie’s where with Journey – Hermione that is – and Jasper’s where with Victory. Josh was thinking of ways to kill Jasper if he even made a move to touch his sister in any way. Hand, foot, shoulder even – and Josh would pounce. Bill was thinking strategy, as was Jayson, for their game. Virgil – who had been counting from a million backwards – was now alphabetizing every spell he knew while tapping his wand on the table. Vladimir was trying to push the thoughts of his now-changed future from his mind, trying to focus on tonight – just tonight. And David was thinking about pie. Cherry to be exact. Now each boy was trapped in his mind with his thoughts – a foot or a finger tapping their thoughts in rhythm. The girls where the same but some how opposite. I was thinking about Charlie as I came down the stairs, and ways to kill Jasper if he hurt Victory – I didn’t have to worry about Daniel with Honor, if he was Vladimir’s brother he was fine by me. Victory was thinking about Jasper as she walked down – holding her train, concentrating on not tripping and falling right down in front of the waiting boys. She was so graceful, she had never missed a step; I couldn’t understand how she thought she could ever be clumsy. Honor was focused on her self-consciousness trying to make it dissipate. We started to turn the corner when a voice broke through the silence. ‘Aye, Charlie, what’s your favorite type of pie?’ David’s British accent was gone; in place for it was a frighteningly well spoken fake southern twang. All three of us girls looked to each other and shrugged. ‘David.’ My breath caught as I heard Charlie’s velvet voice. Even when he was annoyed, his voice was still as cool as ice and would send shivers down my spine every time. ‘Humph, Charles?’ ‘Shut-the-HELL-up.’ And then there was silence once more. ‘I think we got here just in time,’ Honor whispered, ‘they sound like they are about to get into a fight just because they are all bored. What if we had—’ But she never got to finish her sentence. Just at that moment I had stepped around the corner; the two fourth years following close behind me, and was met by an unusual sight. Bill, Virgil, Jayson, and Josh where frozen almost, Bill still had a Snaps card in his hand, while Virgil’s mouth would have gone to the floor if it wasn’t for his jaw. Jayson’s eyes where as big as tea-dishes, and Josh looked like he had been expecting this the entire time. Vladimir was trying to hold in a laugh – and was failing miserably – while Jasper tugged on Charlie’s arm, trying to keep him seated. David – David was the reason my mouth was dropped and I few laughs where heard by my side. David was skipping around the room humming some random tune (It sound a lot like Do-Re-Me from the Muggle movie, Sound Of Music or something – either way, I was disturbed), Charlie just kept calling ‘David shut up’ and yelling ‘David Jonathan-Ray Alister!’ over and over…I looked from boy to boy looking for an answer – receiving none, I walked over to Jasper who was now digging his heels into the floor trying to keep Charlie at bay and away from David Jonathan-Ray Alister. I shook my head, wow his name sure is a mouth full, I thought. ‘Jasper what is wrong with—’ ‘Jayson decided that he wanted to make up his own spell this morning,’ Jasper had anticipated my question, ‘And his bloody damn hex’—he glared in Jayson’s directions— ‘hit David, we don’t know what it was or how to reverse it – but he’s been like this for hours. I’m the only one that still has enough wits to know that murder is not allowed in ENGLAND!’ He shouted the last part more so to Charlie then me. ‘Aww.’ I heard Victory sigh behind me, ‘he has so much patients!’ I rolled my eyes and turned back to the boy-still-skipping-around-the-room-humming and my date, the-boy-who-wanted-to-kill-the-boy-skipping-around-the-room-humming. There goes my perfect entrance, I thought and pulled out my wand. Ok a spell – a spell to fix a skipping boy—I looked to David and smirked—ok, a Sound Of Music humming-skipping boy…ok, lets see… I held my arm out and thought, ‘Fiarstanda!’ Instantly David dropped to the floor – Jasper released Charlie and stood, staring where the boy had dropped. ‘A-A-Alister?’ He stuttered. Now the boys from the table had stood and made their way towards the three Gryffindor boys, ‘Y-you alr-alright?’ David mumbled something like ‘Cherry Pie’ while his eyes remained firmly shut. ‘Accio!’ I whispered and pointed my wand to a glass of water which flew into my hand. ‘Here,’ I poured the water out over the lengthy body of the blonde, ‘that should wake him.’ He stirred slightly, but fell limp once more. I huffed and pointed my wand once again – I wanted to be the beauty of the night, not the know-it-all—I sighed—again, ‘Iceo!’ The water’s temperature turned colder then the Atlantics. A spell of my own inventing. And that, finally, woke him. David sat up sputtering from the water in his mouth, his head was drenched. His bangs sticking to his forehead while the black shirt clung around his upper-body – framing his Quidditch tamed-muscles. ‘K-K-Knight, w-wh-what th-th-the h-hell—’ David chattered through clenched teeth. ‘Oh, I wouldn’t be the one talking Alister – Do—a deer—a female deer, Re—a drop of golden sun…’ I started to sing. Honor broke out laughing – everyone else just stared until she fell quiet, her embarrassment coated her face in a bright-red blush. She was a half-blood, and her mum was a Muggle, so of course only her, David and I got the Muggle joke – well, Victory might have, if she still wasn’t stunned from seeing a sixth year skipping around the room and singing like a six year old. ‘Muggle joke…’ I whispered and turned back to David, ‘Here – I’ll dry you.’ Once his cloths where dry we – meaning all the boys – all turned towards Jayson and glared – David, even though he was cured (we hoped) still had a glazed look to his hazel eyes. Jayson shrugged, ‘It was an accident.’ ‘Yeah, that pissed us all of for twelve hours!’ Charlie snapped – now I know where Ron’s temper came from, only Charlie’s seemed to be slightly worse. By just a little though. ‘You know I didn’t mean too—’ ‘You never think! That’s the damn problem with you! You never think you bloody—’ and he said a word that made time itself stand still while the rest of use gasped – Honor even plugged her ears, ‘—bastard!’ I winced, ok, I lied, his temper was way worse then anything I had ever seen from Ron. ‘I’m truly sor—’ David started to hum again. Jayson looked like he shrunk even more – if that was possible, he was just 5’4. ‘Lets get going, we’re going to be late.’ Victory asked, stepping up towards the center of the group. I smiled, she was trying to get a compliment out of Jasper – all girls do that when they have a date with a boy they are infatuated with and look as beautiful as any famous-painting. ‘Wow.’ Jasper’s face was amazed. I smiled – I knew that dress was perfect for her. She smiled humbly, ‘Ready?’ She mumbled. She hadn’t thought it would work. He could only nod; he took her arm and headed towards the door. Josh had been glaring at the two of them as they left, until his eyes turned to Honor. And you could tell that his breath was caught in his throat. ‘You look beautiful Honor.’ He whispered – his grey eyes taking in everything, running over every detail so that he could memorizing her perfections and – what he considered – beautiful faults. I heard her mumble a thanks, she turned her head – her curls falling perfectly over her face so as to cover her wine-blush. He shook his mousy-brown head and followed behind her, Jayson and Bill followed after him. Virgil gave a yawn and a stretch and left as well. Balls must just not be his thing, I thought, or he has been practicing too much and wore himself out. Now it was just Vladimir, Charlie, David, and me. ‘So you ready?’ Charlie asked, his eyes never leaving mine, ‘You look absolutely stunning.’ ‘Thanks.’ I whispered feeling the wine-blush start down my cheeks. He better watch himself, I mean it— I looked –well, glared– towards Vladimir who just smiled innocently. I smirked and took Charlie’s arm, ‘Ready?’ His eyes where still locked to mine, ‘Of course.’ I turned back to Vladimir and David, ‘Oh, one second.’ I walked over to David and straightened his tie and pulled down his collar, ‘There, now we’re all ready.’ David played with his tie slightly and smiled his thanks down to me. His smile even touched his eyes – he was extremely happy to be back to normal, even if he was still slightly shivering from my hex. At least he wasn’t humming. I turned back to Charlie to see his eyes go envy-green. Vladimir’s turned a light shade of auburn, I mean it…I heard him think. Quick to stop the tension, I took a hold of Charlie’s arm once more and started out of the common room. Vladimir and David followed behind us. ‘Dude, what?’ Vladimir hissed slightly – his now auburn-gold eyes not leaving the back of Charlie’s head. I rolled my eyes, he was worse then Josh with Victory. My eyes turned to the tall-blonde whose hand was rubbing the back of his neck. ‘I learned a very important lesson today.’ He whispered – his pale eye lids closed over his deep-hazel iris. ‘That lesson being…?’ Vladimir never had have patients before. He gave a slight shudder, as if he were still cold, ‘Hexes and Ice don’t mix.’ I smiled – I knew that my magic was good, just never that good. XxX AN – I owed you guys a chapter, and I was in a weird mood—but two and two together and you get five!! Wait…that’s wrong…you get this! Yeah, hope you liked it! Tonight was going to be a perfect night, I was with the perfect guy – someone I had waited for since third year, umm…well, will wait for – and I had the perfect dress – thanks to McGonagall – and I was with some of my new friends. All of us where paired off, David, Virgil, Jayson, and Vladimir were the only ones with out dates so they where tagging along behind the line of couples. Bill had gone with one of his friends from a different house. Jasper and Victory hadn’t taken their eyes off the other since they first saw the other, Josh and Honor followed behind them. Why, oh why did I get stuck with him! I heard Vladimir’s thoughts break into mine. I turned around to see David humming again (this time to the tune of Yankee Doodle) with Vladimir walking next to him, one hand rubbing his temple, the other kept clenched, deep in his pocket. Virgil was staring at the Christmas decorations of the walls, mumbling something under his breath (every now and then one of the fairies in the lamps would turn a bright-violet color before going back to normal) while Jayson was hurrying off to the Hall as to get away from Vladimir’s wrath. I shook my head with a smile and turned back to Charlie. You should have gotten a date then Vamp, I thought. I could see the jerk Vladimir gave when my voice spoke inside his head. But he recovered quickly. Well, excuse me—but I had to deal with you not having a date, I didn’t have time to find one. I smirked, Yeah right, you don’t even like anyone do you? Maybe I do. I rolled my eyes, No, you don’t Yes, I do! His voice came back annoyed. No you don’t Yes I do No you don’t YES I do Who? Silents. Ok I don’t I smirked, knew it! Well, uhh…I turned around to see him sticking his tongue out at me. Oh, very mature. He jerked his head towards Charlie; Just go back to your date sis. Oh, I will… I closed the connection, gave one last look at David who was skipping down the hall, stopping every now and then to give a famous line from Shakespeare’s Romeo and Juliet. I sighed, my spell had worn off and now he was back under Jayson’s Jinx. His wand must have backfired drastically for him to still be under the spell. ‘But soft! What light through yonder window breaks?’ David said, kneeling down and looking up towards the ceiling, ‘It is the east, and Juliet is the sun!’ ‘It’s a damn fairy.’ Vladimir hissed grabbing the scruff of David’s collar and pulling him up into a standing position – which was slightly difficult because David was a good four or five inches taller then him. The fairy – which was still an amethyst-purple – shook her fist at Vladimir, Virgil trying to hold a laugh in while she did. David placed his hand over his heart as Vladimir tried to pull him up, the other was reaching out to nothing, ‘Oh true apothecary! They drugs are quick. Thus with a kiss—’ ‘DON’T EVEN THINK ABOUT IT!’ Vladimir dropped his hold on David and stepped back. ‘—I die!’ And with that David fell on the floor clutching his chest and tongue handing out. ‘Oh, you have got to be kidding me…’ Vladimir knelt down and pulled David once again to his feet. Charlie had stopped to watch the interaction between the two and was now holding back his laugh – failing miserably, just like Virgil was. ‘Um…you might want to–to take him to the h-hospital wing.’ Charlie laughed. Vladimir rolled his eyes, swung his arm around David took keep him standing and started down the corridor to the left. Virgil finally released his laugh and continued past Charlie and I to the Hall. Charlie and I turned back around to see everyone else laughing and clutching at stitches in their sides. ‘Are you ready to go down to the hall now my lady?’ Charlie whispered, holding out his arm. I nodded and took it as we started once more down the stairs. Nothing could ruin this night. XxX ‘The potion is complete Albus. Now may we please send those brats back to where they came from? The know-it-all is getting on my nerves.’ The sneer was more pronounced then usual for the Potions Master. Blue eyes a glint the Headmaster shook his head with a slight smile, ‘Not yet, let her enjoy her night for a few more hours, and then we shall send Hermione Granger back to her home with young Mr. Nyx.’ ‘Can’t we—’ ‘No Severus, let them be.’ He turned his attention towards the window, his eyes deep in thought. The Professor took this as his dismissal and left with his cloak billowing. XxX The Great Hall erupted with beauty before my eyes. Holly and mistletoe where entwined in chains of garland across the ceiling. Twelve-foot trees where decorated with all different sorts of ornaments, some even had blue-flamed candles. Icicles hung down from the ceilings paired with the light-snow fall making the finishing touches for the Hall. Everything was perfect. Not even Poinsettia Brown – who walked by in her scanty strapless red-dress and nose so high in the air we thought she would tip backwards – could ruin this evening. ‘W-would you like to dance?’ Charlie asked, his eyes staying on me as Poinsettia tried to grace her way between us. I smirked – smart man. ‘Um, sure.’ I laughed as he took my hand and tripped nervously as we started towards he dance floor. ‘I-I’m sorta new at this—dancing that is.’ He replied as he took my waist and pulled me gently towards him. I smiled, ‘Me too.’ The music was slow and just kind of floated through out the Hall. It was graceful but passionate, and soon all the couples where dancing close to their partner – their foreheads softly resting against the others. Charlie caught the hint, and pulled me slightly closer. My arms wrapped protectively over his neck as I fell into his warm embrace. The song ended too soon and Charlie left to get us drinks. I made my way over to a table where Victory and Jasper where seated, with Virgil. Virgil was sitting next to Jasper taping his wand absent-minded again. Everyone in a while he would point it towards his water glass and make it boil with light blue and azure bubbles. ‘Virgil, what type of wand is that? It is made of bored wood or something?’ Charlie laughed walking up behind me. ‘Actually, it’s made of Elder.’ Virgil replied casually. ‘Really? What’s it made of?’ I asked curiously, taking the free seat next to Virgil. I took a closer look at his robes and noticed that they where a dark bottle-green, different from the other boys – especially David’s – which where plan black. At least it had no lace. I smirked at the thought of Ron at the Yule Ball. ‘It’s fourteen inches,’ He replied, holding his wand in front of him with a finger on each end, ‘The cores made up of a Thestral’s heartstring.’ ‘Ohh, I have never heard of that before. Does it work well? What spells are it’s best? Charms? Transfiguration? Jinxes? Or maybe Defense?’ I said with a single breath. Everyone’s eyes grew as I went on about his wand, Virgil started to look like he was actually beginning to enjoy the evening a little more. ‘Transfiguration works best, but it’s pretty great with defense spells as well. Charms are okay.’ He sat up a little straighter – finally coming into a conversation. And not looking bored for once, ‘I haven’t tried any Jinxes, but it’s perfect for Dueling.’ ‘Oh, mines best for Defense. Really it’s—’ A bright silver light shot out from the corner of Virgil’s wand. A fox erupted from the tip of the wand and started to prance around the Hall. Blue sparks shot off as it pranced around the room, setting a few tapestry on non-burning fire. ‘VIRGIL PEREGRIN TOOK!’ McGonagall’s stern tone rung trough out the silent room. I broke out laughing at the sound of his name, it was very—fitting. ‘Sorry.’ He blushed and placed his wand carefully in front of him, his hands withdrawing to his lap. With a swish of her wand the flames where gone. McGonagall through one last stern frown towards the Beater and returned to her conversation with Dumbledore. The fox strutted back over to the boy before dissipating into the rooms light. My hand flew to my mouth – trying to stiffen a laugh. ‘S-s-so, what are the b-best spells with y-your wand?’ Virgil stuttered. ‘Oh,’ – a small laugh escaped – ‘Charms mostly. It’s my best subject as well.’ ‘Mines Arithmancy, Transfiguration as well.’ And that was how the night progressed. Charlie placed his arm around me protectively as Virgil and I continued out conversation. A warning to any boy that dared to challenge him. It was a magical evening. Nothing could ruin it. It’s ready. Vladimir’s words rung through my ears. I froze mid-sentence. That would only mean one thing. ‘It’s ready.’ His real voice replied. I turned around to meet his scared-brown eyes. I nodded a few tears building at the side of my eyes. I was going home. XxX AN ~ Mwhauwhuahwauu, dreaded cliffy! Sorry for the long wait, hope this wasn’t a totally crappy chapter. I was re-reading it again and again and it just isn’t up to my usual best. But as always leave a review if you please with your thoughts on it. _Keeper_ ‘Ready for what?’ Charlie’s voice broke through my thoughts. ‘To go home.’ I whispered, silent tears building at the corners of my eyes as I stood next to Vladimir. ‘What do you mean to go home?’ Charlie replied. Vladimir pulled gently on my sleeve, ‘I-I have to go.’ I whispered. But not moving to follow Vladimir as he turned to the door. My eyes watching his back-muscles tense through his robes. He’s already jealous, lets just go. Vladimir’s Scottish tone broke into my thoughts. My eyes shone with my tears as I realized this was the last time I would see Charlie and actually know that he loved me back. ‘C-Charlie, I’m sorry.’ I whispered and took off down the isle. Vladimir looked at the red-head and gave a small-sympathetic smile and followed after me. Hermione… Don’t, you don’t know how I feel right now. You could even hear the tears in my voice as I thought my words. Fine, I could hear the annoyance in his voice, We’re going to the Headmaster’s office, turn when you get up to the two hallways. XxX Virgil ran through the hall looking for any sign of the Gryffindor Chaser. Charlie and him and split up to go looking for her, leaving Victory and Jasper to enjoy their evening. ‘Where could she have gotten to, I mean she was wearing flats but come on!’ He hissed, clutching at a stitch in his side, ‘Damn me for being best friends with the guy that just has to have the run away girlfriend. You know sometimes—’ ‘Virg? Who are you talking to?’ A Welsh accent broke through the boys mumblings. ‘No one—David,’ Virgil replied through breaths, ‘Jayson’s—spell, wear—off?’ The blonde-boys face lit up into his braces-filled smile, ‘Yeah, finally. I was just heading back down to the Hall, why are you here Took?’ ‘I’m—looking for—Journey—you-seen-her…’ He asked, finally starting to catch his breath. ‘Nay, ye need some help?’ David replied. ‘Yeah.’ Virgil stood up right and nodded towards the right corridor, ‘Let’s check by the Headmaster’s office, we can back track to the Hall from there.’ David nodded – his tousled blonde hair flying everywhere. ‘Come on.’ Virgil waved his hand down the corridor and David followed like a small pup. XxX My feet stopped as we grew closer to the Headmaster’s office. ‘Hermione, come on – we have just till midnight.’ Vladimir huffed as he turned around to face me. ‘Midnight?’ I croaked, ‘What time is it now?’ Vladimir’s face grew in concentration, ‘Just about eleven thirty.’ ‘How did you—’ The clock sounded in the distance. ‘Oh never mind.’ I crossed my arms and walked past him. ‘Herm—’ CRASH! Both of our heads turned around so fast we where a blur to anyone watching. There on the ground – tangled in a mess of long legs and arms – was David and Virgil. ‘What are you tw—’ ‘Charlie’s looking everywhere for ya Knight.’ Virgil’s Irish accent was strong on each vowel he said. I huffed, ‘I’m really getting tired of being cut off.’ My arms crossed tighter across my chest. ‘Aye, Nyx? You alright…’ David’s accent was as strong as Virgil’s tonight. I turned to face Vladimir, his eyes where cast over and a look of confusion etched into his face. ‘Nyx?’ ‘No! No absolutely not!’ Vladimir’s voice rung throughout the corridor, ‘You are not coming along.’ I jumped at his tone – I hated when he got his visions, they were still so new. My smile lit up – I would love to have two people from this time see us off, two friends being there to say good-bye as we leave. ‘Please?’ My dry throat croaked. ‘No.’ Vladimir shook his head, ‘They can’t keep a secret for anything.’ ‘Yes we can.’ Virgil replied defensively, David nodding enthusiastically in agreement next to him. Virgil took one look at David and turned back to me and Vladimir, ‘Well…I can.’ Again David nodded his head – his hair flying everywhere for he third time that evening. ‘Ahhh…’Vladimir ran his hand to the back of his head as he sighed, ‘Come on, only—’ He concentrated once more on the quiet distance, ‘twenty-five minutes left.’ And we headed off towards the last turn that would take us to the Headmaster’s office, Virgil Took and David Alister following close behind. XxX Charlie ran down the hall, his hair flying everywhere as his head turned this way and that looking for any sign of his Journey. His Journey. He liked the sound of that. Although, somewhere – in the way, way, back of his mind – Hermione sounded like a sweet name was well. But he simply shrugged it off. Anyway, he thought, I don’t know any Hermione’s. XxX ‘So, where are you two going anyway?’ David slouched down into his chair and settled in with a smile as Virgil sat perched – awkwardly – on the edge of his chair, Vladimir paced in the corner and I stood behind McGonagall’s chair. McGonagall sat next to Dumbledore’s desk, her hand rubbing her throbbing temple, as she stared at the four students that had shone up instead of the original two that had been called. ‘It’s a long and difficult story, one that does not involve you.’ Her lips where as straight as I had ever seen them. ‘Oh…’ David replied, gave a quick glance around the room and ended staring at the oak door, ‘Someone’s coming.’ And sure enough… Snape walked in like a bat on Halloween, he’s nose was held high and his arrogance was stronger than any perfume. ‘Here is the completed potion.’ He held up a small iced-glass bottle filled with a clear sapphire liquid. It looks like tears, I thought to myself. ‘So how do we use it?’ Vladimir said, breaking the still silents that had formed. ‘You simply throw it in the air and walk through it.’ The professor replied, a smug smirk etched deep into his eyes and smile, ‘It’s only good till midnight on Christmas Eve, after that well—’ he gave a slight un-Snape laugh ‘—well, you can say the magic will be gone.’ ‘Of course, because that is how all potions end up working...’ Vladimir hissed and began his pacing once more, ‘Eight minutes.’ ‘We better send you on your way then.’ Albus Dumbledore stood up – the same twinkle he would have in my time a blaze in his blue eyes. ‘It’s time to go home.’ And my heart broke once more. XxX Charlie had just reached the far-corridor. She had to be here. She just had to be. The gargoyles next to him began to snicker. ‘Oh, bloody ‘ell…I just said that out loud, didn’t eye?’ He turned to face the stone dragons. ‘Thinks that thou seeks, are closer then thee thinks.’ The first one said. ‘What? What are you talking about?’ Charlie ran his hand through his hair and turned his focus on the dragon’s words. The face of the stones broke into a wide marble grin. ‘Wait, Journeys here?’ Charlie had finally caught on. ‘Thou knowest the password, thy shall gain the entrance.’ The second finally spoke. ‘Um, lemon drops?’ Charlie guessed. The first shook his head. ‘Candy canes?’ Charlie tried. The second shook his head. ‘This is going to take a while…’ And Charlie began to brainstorm as the gargoyles continued to laugh at his attempts. XxX ‘Ready?’ Vladimir grabbed my hand securely. I smiled as a stray tear found it’s way down my cheek, ‘Sure.’ ‘Alright,’ He gave my hand a tight squeeze, ‘Here we go.’ XxX ‘Oh! Bloody ‘ell, will you just let me in?!?!’ Charlie asked exasperated, he had tried every Muggle candy known to wizard, even the wizarding world candy names. Nothing. The same as always. ‘What am I doing? I don’t even know if she’s in there for bloody’s sake.’ He hissed, falling back against the door, defeated. ‘Sugar Plum.’ He said randomly. Gosh, now I’m starting to sound like David, he thought. And the gargoyles sprung to life. Charlie fell backwards into the stairs in surprise. ‘Seriously?’ But he didn’t wait for his answer, he had already started up the stairs to the Headmaster’s office. He burst into the door, and his mouth dropped at the sight. XxX Snape threw the potion into the air and fell down in a shower of rainbow, it looked like water but I knew better. The veil of water changed from color to color but soon became a clear-silver wave – as if I was back under he Cloak with Harry and Ron once more. If everything went as planed, one step and we would be back in my time. Well, out time. ‘Okay.’ Vladimir started to take the step forward. BAM! The door flew open and both of us froze. There, Charlie Weasley stood. ‘Oh no.’ I replied, the tears started to form, and my breath caught in my throat. ‘Thirty second.’ Vladimir whispered, pulling on my hand. ‘I’m sorry.’ I mouthed to Charlie and with that Vladimir and I walked towards the veil. ‘Hermione!’ And Charlie’s voice was the last I heard as I fell through time. XxX ‘Did you just call her…Hermione?’ Virgil’s voice broke through the settling silents. All Charlie Weasley could do was nodded and stare blankly at the place where she had vanished. ‘Why don’t we all head back down to the Great Hall for the rest of our evening.’ Dumbledore said. Everyone stood and turned to go as he called Charlie back. ‘Yes, sir?’ Charlie said, walking back to the elderly Headmaster. ‘Take a seat Mr. Weasley.’ Dumbledore returned back to his desk as Charlie continued to stand in front of his desk, ‘Or stand – I can understand why you couldn’t sit after that.’ ‘Where did she go?’ Charlie’s voice croaked. The Headmaster gently shook his head, ‘I am not a liberty to say – but I can tell you one thing.’ Charlie’s head snapped up, out of everything that had happened over the past month he could only tell him one thing of this mysterious girl that had come into his life just to go right back out? Just one? ‘What is that?’ Charlie replied, one was better then nothing at this point. ‘You will see young Ms. Knight again. Or as you referred to her as – Hermione.’ The twinkle in his eyes was stronger then Charlie had ever seen it before, ‘Why did you call her that Charlie?’ The boy shrugged, ‘I don’t know, it just—came out…’ Dumbledore nodded, ‘I see.’ Silents followed. ‘Ma-may I go, sir?’ Charlie asked simply. ‘Yes.’ The Headmaster nodded as Charlie rose and walked out the door. With a smile he reached down to the bottom drawer of his desk and pulled out the golden-hourglass. Twisting the chain around his hand and letting the small turner warm his palm before he closed his fingers around it. ‘Yes, you will definitely see Ms. Granger again.’ He smiled before placing the turned back into the bottom draw of the desk. XxX The familiar feeling of being held under water engulfed me. My breathing grew ragged and different blues and silvers swirled around me. I had lost Vladimir’s hand and was now alone in the abyss. But there was something different this time. I could hear voices – one from the past, other’s lost in time as well. And then it was over. I was back in my time. Sitting by the same tree that over looked the lake. Nothing had changed. I looked back down expecting to see my dress but to find my school cloths. ‘It couldn’t have been a dream—it-it just couldn’t have been!’ My hands flew up to my face trying to remember something that felt more real then anything from my time away. Anything. And that was when I got it – I didn’t have the time turner. It wasn’t a dream…but wait… ‘Where’s Vladimir then?’ I turned this way and that looking for a sign of the boy with blonde hair and streaks. ‘Vladimir?’ I called, standing to my feel. ‘Hermione! Hermione! Where are you?’ My head whipped around at the sound of the voice. ‘Charlie…’ I whispered. I took off from behind the tree and ran full force towards him. His back was to me and the parchment was still in his hands. ‘Charlie!’ I yelled, he turned around just in time to see me throw my arms around him in a hug. ‘Well, um…there…you are…’ He coughed, patting my back awkwardly in a brotherly manner. I blushed and let go – I forgot that this wasn’t the Charlie that was still my age; this was Charlie Weasley – my best friend’s older brother and my professor. ‘Sorry…’ I mumbled. ‘It’s fine…’ He took a step back to resume his authority while his hand played with the back of his neck, ‘So…Ms. Brown showed me you’re little—um—drawing…’ XxX ‘So…Ms. Brown showed me you’re little—um—drawing…’ Charlie cringed at this; he didn’t want to talk about this with one of his students. It was awkward and uncomfortable, especially considering that she was Ron’s best friend and a student of his. But since McGonagall had refused to do it, it left him with the uncomfortable situation. XxX And the embarrassment was back full force. Now I remember why I had left in the first place. ‘I’m sorry Professor, I-I…’ I couldn’t come up with a good lie, that’s what. ‘Yes, M-ms. Granger?’ Charlie replied. ‘I just thought it was really nice of you to take Norbert in, and I wanted to show my appreciation of it, and I know how much you love dragons so…’ Damn, I hope he buys that, I thought. ‘Sure, yeah that makes sense.’ To him, it made absolutely no sense, but it was a chance to dodge a bullet so he took it. ‘Really?’ I asked, my head tilted slightly. ‘Yeah, it ya think—’ ‘HEY! COULD SOMEONE HELP ME HERE!’ A voice yelled from above us. ‘What the ‘ell—’ Charlie looked up just as I started to laugh. I finally found Vladimir, he was tangled in the branches of the tree by his dressing-robes. He’s not from here, of course he would have kept his cloths from back then, I thought with a small laugh. ‘It’s not funny Hermione!’ He called down, trying to free himself. ‘Hermione, do-do you know him?’ Charlie asked confusion and something else written on his face. I had to nod because I couldn’t breath from the stitch in my side. Charlie pulled out his wand and helped Vladimir down. The boy fell to the ground with a thunk and jumped up to brush himself off. ‘Yeah, thanks Charlie.’ He hissed, brushing himself off more so in annoyance then anything else. I smiled; his streaks had changed to a blistering-red. His eyes went black. ‘You couldn’t have been any gentler Weasley?’ He hissed. The sight of Vladimir hadn’t seemed to click in Charlie’s head. He just crossed his arms and pulled the authority card. ‘That’s Professor Weasley to you Mr-mr…what is your name?’ Charlie asked, his tone annoyed. ‘Um…ahh…’ He looked to me. Should I use my real name, what if he figures it out? I’ll take care of it. ‘This is Vladimir Knight.’ I replied. ‘Vladimir? Alright…why a parent would name a poor kid that…’ Charlie mumbled the last part more to himself than anything. ‘I like my name, thank you.’ Vladimir replied defensively. ‘Sure, sure…if you’re a vampire, why not.’ Charlie turned back to me before Vladimir could reply. ‘You shouldn’t have run off you know.’ He said – authority coated his voice. I nodded, ‘Sorry. If I get detention or house points or what ever, I’d understand…’ Charlie laughed, ‘No – it’s not that bad of an offence Granger. I just wanted you to know that you’re safe in my classroom; you shouldn’t feel he need to run away if Ms. Brown insults you again. I’m there, you’re safe.’ I smiled – he hadn’t changed at all. He was still my Charlie. ‘Thank you.’ I smiled, and for an instant time stood still as he smiled back at me. ‘But as for Mr. Knight here.’ Vladimir gulped, ‘Go to the Headmaster’s office for skipping class.’ ‘But I—’ Vladimir tired. ‘Now please.’ Charlie snapped. Vladimir mumbled as he walked away, I caught a few words here and there about why come here if he was going to have to go through fifth year again, or now his younger brother was going to be older then him. Once Vladimir was a safe distance away I let out a spell of laughter. ‘Hey, Hermione?’ Charlie asked. ‘Yes Professor?’ I replied through my laughs. ‘Have I ever told you that you remind me a lot of a girl from my fifth year.’ He said, turned back and started towards the castle. ‘No, no you haven’t.’ I replied, fighting some more laughs, ‘What was her name?’ ‘Journey Knight.’ He said, his eyes running over the castle, as if he was lost in the past. ‘You don’t say…’ And we walked silently back to class, a shadow of a smile remained on my face for the rest of the day. XxX Ok, so there are about two more chapters left in Of Love and Dragons. I hope this story hasn’t been a total disappointment to you all. ‘Hermione? Hermione!’ Charlie’s voice rung through the halls. His wand was held up defensively as he walked down the corridor looking for the young witch. She was nineteen and more then capable to protect herself, but that didn’t mean that he had to stand by and watch as she was dueling. He didn’t know when these feelings arose, but they had – no matter how hard he had fought to control them. She had graduated just before she went off with Harry to find the rest of the Horcruxes, and he was no longer a Professor of Hogwarts, so it was alright for him to feel this way now. We’re both young-adults, just seven years apart, we can make there own decisions. The red head shook his head, no matter how hard he thought that he just couldn’t get part of himself to believe the words, even if they where true. Plus, in all honestly, she probably wouldn’t want to be with a guy with almost no experience. The first time he had kissed a girl was in his fifth year, and he hadn’t even looked or thought about another girl since Journey Knight. But somehow Hermione had caught his eye. Not even Fleur can catch my attention, he laughed to himself as he looked carefully around the corner. The Battle had been over for around three hours now but he was still on his guard. His eyes drifted over the courtyard that stood before him, and there she was. And that was when it clicked. ‘Journey…’ He whispered, and headed towards the morning Hermione. When he reached her he wrapped his arm over her protectively and gently rubbed her back, ‘It’s alright, shh-shh, everything’s over now…it’s going to be alright….’ And from that moment on the two seemed inseparable. XxX Here it was. The day I had been waiting for since third year. I was to become Mrs. Charlie Weasley in one hour. Butterflies flew up in my stomach as Luna helped me secure my veil, ‘You look beautiful Hermione.’ She whispered, wrapping her arms around my shoulders, ‘Charlie is just going to love you!’ I laughed, ‘He better already love me.’ It made absolutely no sense, but when you have the jitters you’re not aiming for sarcasm. I saw Luna turn her head just as the music began, ‘You ready?’ She asked. I let out a short breath, ‘I think so…’ She smiled, ‘Okay, I’ll go get Vladimir.’ As she left I thought of how we seemed to be so different back in school. Of course, she was a person that liked to make her own path while I stuck to the basics, but once you got past that we really did have a lot in common. She was open to everything I said or thought. It was nice to have one person like that – but again, one was definitely enough though. ‘Knock, knock.’ The familiar Scottish accent broke through my thoughts. I turned to face my best friend, Very funny Vladimir. The boy shrugged, I thought so… Luna appeared at his side just as he finished his thought. ‘So you have everything? Wait! Your veil? Where’s your veil?’ The girl began to frantically search the room. I smiled as I watched her search, is everyone here? Vladimir smiled and nodded, Victory and Jasper are in the front row, Josh and Honor as well as David and Virgil. Daniel is seated with them as well. Almost everyone’s here. I could hear the hurt tone he said the last part with. My face faded a bit as well. We had lost Jayson in the Battle, it was sad, but we still had his son to remember him by. And believe me; he was just as much a pain as Jayson Daniels. David was made the godfather of Jayson’s son Fabian, and I think Jayson almost did that on purpose. Already the boy had jinxed David more times then Jayson had ever done. That got a smile to play across my eyes. You ready? – Vladimir’s voice thought. I nodded and stood. ‘Here goes everything.’ I took Vladimir’s arm as Luna came up behind me and pinned in my veil. ‘There perfect!’ Luna squeaked as she grabbed her bouquet of white roses. She turned and winked before she gracefully danced out of the room, her blue silk-dress billowing elegantly behind her as she went. ‘Ready?’ I turned to look at Vladimir; he looked more nerves then ever. I smiled, ‘You already asked that.’ He smiled nervously and started towards the door. ‘Breath, just breath…’ I whispered as the doors where open and Charlie’s handsome face came into view. The walk up to the alter seemed like a dream, everyone standing around us looked faded – the only clear person was Charlie, he was the only one that mattered right now. Vladimir kissed my cheek as he passed my arm to Charlie, ‘Good luck sis.’ I smiled as he started towards his chair. ‘You look beautiful Hermione.’ Charlie whispered as we started up the steps to where the pastor stood. ‘Thanks…’ I blushed and looked back up to meet Charlie’s amazing eyes. They where hiding something, a smirk was playing deep in his eyes. ‘What?’ I whispered. ‘You know,’ The smirk spread to his lips, ‘I have always love you.’ He stopped when we got in front of the pastor, ‘I have always loved you Journey Knight.’ My mouth just about hit the floor. ‘How did you know?’ I whispered, ‘When did you figure it out?’ There was that smirk again, ‘I’ve always assumed so…’ ‘But when?’ I gulped, time travel was never suppose to be noticed. I had broken one of the main rules! ‘Well, I thought I noticed something familiar about you when you fell from the sky like an angel back in your fifth year.’ I blushed. ‘Either way, whether it be Hermione or Journey,’ He whispered as the pastor began to address the congregation, ‘I love you.’ ‘I love you too…’ I smiled. And finally, our love story could begin it’s ever after. XxX AN – Only one chapter left!! Disclaimer: Ok so for the whole story you have notice I have borrowed some names from Twilght - which, of course, I didn't write. Harry Potter's not mine, and anything recognized from anything else is also not mine (obviously) so...yeah... XxX So this is the last chapter of Of Love and Dragons. Thank you to all of those who reviewed and who read, you guys have been so awesome to read my work! Thanks! And hope that you enjoy the last chapter! XxX ‘David-Nyx Weasley! You better hurry up!’ I yelled down the platform. ‘I’m coming Mum!’ The boy yelled back to me. The boy looked just like his father had in fifth year, the same blue eyes, the same smile, and the same tousled-hair. The only difference was that he had my curly-brown hair, instead of the famous Weasley red. ‘Where’s Covington and Tathanael?’ I asked once the boy had reached me. David smiled and shrugged, ‘Who knows. Last I saw, Covington was shoving Tathan’s head into an owl cage.’ With that he ran through the wall as I waited for the others. I cringed at what he said – it was too much of a visual, ‘Where are they?’ I whispered, tapping my foot impatiently. And just on cue the twins stepped around the bend. Both had the famous red-hair and sparkling blue eyes, and what made them identical was the mischievous smirk glued on each of their faces. They where the second oldest, both of them in their fourth year. I rolled my eyes and rubbed my temple, ‘Just don’t tell me and go through.’ With a wink from each of them they ran through the wall. Next came Virgil, who’s nose was, per usual, buried in a book. He was the only Ravenclaw in the Gryffindor family so far. Except the youngest, Gracen-Daniel, who the twins where betting would be sorted into Ravenclaw as well. But unlike all his other brothers, he was the quietest of them all. Out of all the boys, he was the most like me. But he did get one thing from Charlie, his Seeker abilities. He had made he team his second year and they had won the Cup, he was hopping to do so again this year. ‘Hey Virg.’ I ruffled his mop of brunette tresses as he smiled and quietly walked through the wall, his vibrant-blues finding their way back to his book once more. ‘Ok, that leaves only one.’ And again on cue, my last son walked around the bend with Charlie. Gracen had a sprinkle of freckles across his nose, and his hair was a mess of red locks. His eyes where brown like mine, but other then that he got everything from his father. ‘You two are late!’ I called as they where in hearing-distance, ‘And being late for your first year is never a good thing Gracen.’ Charlie simply smiled, ‘We arrived just when we wanted to, isn’t that right buddy?’ ‘That’s right Dad!’ Gracen peeped as his Dad ruffled his hair. ‘Alright you two! Through the wall.’ And with that we all stepped through, Gracen pulling his trunk along, try to convince his Dad that he had ‘everything under control,’ just like every other eleven year old does. Platform Nine and Three-Quarters looked exactly like it had when I started off to Hogwarts. But it was always strange coming back here every September 1st to send my kids off. ‘Journey! Journey!’ My head turned around to meet a blur of brown. ‘Victory?’ I asked, as I returned her hug. She looked up with a huge smile and nodded, ‘Sorry Hermione, old habits die hard.’ I laughed and hugged her again, ‘So where’s Mr. Hale?’ She blushed just like she had back in fifth year, ‘Oh he’s coming with Journey. Look there he is!’ Jasper was walking towards us walking next to his fourth year daughter, Journey Hermione Cullen. She was a fourth year Gryffindor, and just like her mother. She had her father’s blonde hair in the style her mother had when she was her age, and her mother’s grey-green eyes set into her beautiful ivory face. ‘Hey Jasper, hey Journey.’ I smiled down at the girl – her face reminded me so much of Victory. ‘Hello, it’s nice to see you again Mrs. Weasley.’ She smiled back, being as polite as a fourth year could. Just as she was finishing her sentence David walked up, his hand resting on the shoulder of his godson, Fabian Alister-Daniels. Fabian’s pastel-Carolina blue eyes where bright with curiosity, his bronze layers just brushed his eyelids. He was short, just like Jayson’s five-four, and was a Gryffindor just a year above Journey and exactly like his biological father. ‘Hey guys.’ David called as he reached us. We all called back hello as Journey blushed and asked Fabian if he had a good break. He nodded as she blushed and turned away. It reminded me a lot of me and Charlie when I had been younger. ‘Why don’t you two go get a seat on the train?’ Victory offered. She was all for the two of them getting together, my guess was that she could already see her grandchildren in her head. I smiled as I watched each of the parents wish their child a good year, and Jasper started to help Journey with her trunk but Fabian said he could help her, took her trunk, and with matching blushes the two headed for the train. Jasper watched as any other father would when his daughter went off with a boy. I looked across the platform looking for Charlie and caught sight of Josh and Honor helping their daughter Astrana onto the express. She had Honor’s curly auburn hair and Josh’s stormy grey eyes with that familiar hint of mint-green. She was a perfect balance of each parent and had been sorted into Hufflepuff. She was also pretty good friend with Journey, even though she was a year younger. The Express’ whistle sounded and my eyes searched frantically across the platform for a sign of my boys. I wanted to catch them before they boarded the train. I saw them soon enough and ran over to wish them a good year. Once they where safely on board I took one last look around the platform. I caught sight of both Vladimir and Virgil walking around the train, double- and triple-checking the doors before getting onto the express. Virgil saw me and tapped Vladimir. Both waved before stepping on board. Virgil had been offered the position as Transfiguration Professor, and Vladimir was the new DADA Professor, he had been for a few years now. As the Express pulled away I waved to my boys, Gracen who was plastered to the window, and Virgil standing behind him. David-Nyx off to the side, and the twins nowhere to be seen. And then I got a glance at Vladimir, and time seemed to slow for just a second. While Virgil gave a small wave to me and Charlie, Vladimir smirked at the two of us. His streaks matched the natural color of his hair, and his eyes where a gentle azure. So what does that mean? I thought He smiled, even after all these years our connection was still strong. It means that for once in my life, everything is perfect. And with that I smiled as the red-express disappeared from sight around the bend. Charlie came up behind me and lovingly wrapped his arm around my waist, and kissed my cheek, 'I love you, ya know.' 'I know, I love you too.' I smiled. I was home.
