Chapter 15: Caught
Harry raised his wand before turning around. He wasn't surprised to see the short brown hair and grey eyes that greeted him. His eyes were wide, manic like and his mouth was up turned into a sinister smile and he was waving his wand like a mad man.
“Shane, I should have known. Now why don't you do the sensible thing and put your wand down before someone gets hurt,” Harry reasoned, but he just laughed and kept his wand held high.
“Don't you mean before someone else gets hurt, your little friend is already in the hospital isn't she?” He started to laugh and Harry concentrated on blocking out the sound of his laugh, trying to keep his temper under control. He looked at Shane, properly and was startled to realise that he was covered in dirt and his black robes had a suspicious stain on that looked like blood.
Harry drew his wand quickly from the pocket of his robes. He flicked it quickly, tying Shane up in ropes. Shane collapsed to the ground, dropping his wand, which Danny picked up hastily and placed on the desk. He was staring at Shane, a look of confusion on his face. He had been his partner since their first year of training together, but it turned out the man he thought he knew, was really a stranger.
“I'll take him to Azkaban to await his trial,” Danny’s voice sounded odd and aloof, even to himself. “What about this one?”
“Azkaban as well I suppose,” Harry shrugged “He’ll go on trial,” James started to struggle against the chair but Harry tied him up as well before Danny took him too.
“I’ll fill in the official report myself, but will you fill out the admittance forms for Azkaban?”
“Sure, let me know how Hermione is wont you?” Harry nodded before watching Danny take hold of the two prisoners and apparate out of the office. He grabbed the reports from his desk, and quickly left the room.
Harry arrived in a damp alleyway next to the entrance to St Mungos. He tugged the hood of his cloak up to try and combat the sheeting rain, and started to run towards the glass when he saw a familiar tall, slightly wet ginger sat on the kerb, his head in his hands.
“Ron, what are you doing out here?” Harry shouted before going to join him. “It's raining, and its miserable, and Hermione needs you beside her, not sitting out here!” Ron didn't reply, just shook his head and continued to stare at the ground.
“Come on Ron, I've got some good news I want both of you to hear,” he pestered and Ron turned to look at him, a dubious expression on his face.
“Really, good news?” Harry nodded and stood up, motioning for Ron to follow him. Reluctantly he did and they walked towards the glass together.
“Here to see Hermione Granger,” Harry told the doll that was sat in the dusty window and it nodded before they both walked through the glass. “Lead the way,” Harry told Ron who started for the stairs. The place was oddly quiet and Harry kept his eyes on the back of Ron's head, he didn't want to see anyone right now.
“She was here, right here, I swear, where's she gone?” Ron asked as they reached an empty room and walked inside. The room showed signs of life previously in there, an empty drinks carton was still left on the side and there was still seats scattered around the bed.
“We'll find her, don't worry,” Harry told him before walking out of the room to look for a Healer but all he saw was the white walls and tiled floor.
“What if something’s happened to her and I wasn’t here and-” Ron's eye grew wide and he set off down the corridor at a run.
“Ron, nothing has happened ok? Wait up, I'll ask Ginny where she is,” Ron started to slow and then stopped altogether, turning around to face Harry. Taking his wand out of his pocket he sent a Patronus to Ginny, before sitting down on one of the blue plastic chairs that lined the corridor. Ron walked towards him but instead of sitting down he began to pace up and down the corridor until Ginny's Patronus came into view and then he stopped walking, just stood staring at it.
“Hey Harry, she's on the fourth floor, room 12 but she's not allowed any visitors at the moment because there running some tests on her. Would you look for my idiotic brother, he's disappeared off somewhere and everyone's worried. I'm trying to look for him but I can't go far because I told the Healer to fetch me when I could go back into see Hermione, I'm in the tearoom on the top floor.”
“Let's go up,” Harry told Ron who shook his head.
“I'm going to see Hermione, I'll wait outside,” he answered the question that was on Harry's lips before taking off at a run towards the stairs. Following him towards the stairs he made his way up to the fifth floor and it didn't take him long to see Ginny's red hair looking in and out of doors.
“Ginny,” Harry called out and she turned around and started to walk towards him. Harry noticed that she looked tired, her whole body slumped like she had the weight of the world on her shoulders. It was then he began to wonder just how many hours it had been before she had slept, before she had to take care of her brother and then Hermione. He guessed a lot and when she reached him he pulled her into a hug.
“Hey,” she told him before pulling back. “Has anything happened?”
“I've caught the guys who did this, they'll go on trial and then most likely be sentenced so I came to tell Hermione,” he told her and a small smile appeared on her face.
“Thank god, now to find my brother,” she sighed before starting to walk away but Harry pulled her back.
“I found him, he was outside but he's gone to sit outside Hermione's room until he can go in. I figured they needed to talk so I came up here to find you,” she nodded and he took her hand, leading her over to the tables. They were mostly empty, only a few people were scattered about and nobody was really talking. Walking up to the counter Harry ordered two coffees before joining her at one of the tables. He sat down next to her and handed her the cup.
“Thanks,” she muttered and they both lapsed into silence. Harry rested his head against the back of the chair and put his arm around Ginny who lay her head on his shoulder.
“Why don't you go home, get some sleep,” Harry suggested to her but she shook her head.
“I'm fine and I need to wait here for the Healer to come up,” she told him and he didn't argue knowing there was no point. She shifted her head, attempting to find a comfortable position against Harry’s bony shoulder, and ended up slumped against him completely.
“Gin, go to sleep” Harry said. She opened her mouth to argue, but he cut her off “I promise I’ll wake you when the Healer comes” Ginny gratefully shut her eyes, and was soon fast asleep.
Barely an hour had gone by when a Healer walked into the tearoom and looked around. She recognised Ginny but seeing that she was asleep she went to turn around but not before Harry motioned for her to come over.
“Hey, how is she?” He tried to sit up a little straighter but he didn't want to wake Ginny so he just sort of slid up a little.
“She's doing better, I think, it's hard to tell and she wont take her potions or anything I try to give her to help,” she told him and Harry nodded.
“Ok, thank you and has somebody gone in to sit with here?” He hoped Ron had and that he hadn't went for another walk again.
“Yes, a man about your age went in. He looked an awful lot like her,” he nodded towards Ginny and Harry breathed a sigh of relief.
“Ok, thank you,” the healer nodded before walking out of the tea room. Ginny hadn't woken up and he knew that she should go home but she was stubborn and wouldn't listen to him. Maybe she would listen to someone else though and he would be killing two birds with one stone because he didn't think Ron had got round to telling the Weasleys yet. Picking up his wand he sent a message to Molly explaining that Hermione was in hospital and if she would tell the rest of the family. He also asked her to come up to the tea room when she got here. With that done he rested his head against Ginny’s it wasn't long before he fell asleep too.
