My twin sister is the definition of perfect. And me? Not so much. I’m sarcastic, stubborn, don’t like to change anything, and I tend to talk to myself. When 6th year started I wasn’t expecting anything to be different from any other year at Hogwarts. Man was I wrong. And Albus Potter is to blame.

I glanced at the clock. 6:29 Kasey had just left to start her detention with Professor Chang. This left me alone at the Gryffindor table, which is not what I planned on. I looked around, few people had left, but I wasn’t going to wait for everyone to clear out like usual. I rose from my spot and walked up all the stairs to the common room, bumping into those who didn’t seem to see me. It’s not like I’m a ghost, you can’t walk straight threw me.

“Password?” The fat lady asked as I approached it.

“Higgletins.” I said bluntly before stepping aside so the painting wouldn’t hit me as it opened.

I muttered to myself as I climbed in to the warm room. Only a small number of people were inside the common room. I expected this since dinner was still taking place. I scanned the room and saw one of the big, squashy chairs. I sat down and was engulfed in its redness. I watched the fire dance hoping to pass the time. I wasn’t nearly tired so entertainment was needed while I wait for Kasey’s return.

“Hey.” I heard someone speak, but didn’t turn to look. No one would be speaking to me. “Why aren’t you at dinner?” I saw a figure move closer to me from the corner of my eye. My right eye to be exact.

“Hellooo?” A hand broke my gaze of the fire. I stand corrected, someone is talking to me. I made a quick list of what I should do,

1)       I ignore them

2)       I look at them and talk

3)      I speak and just look at the fire(Wait no that’d look creepy)

Let’s go with the second one.

“Um… hi.” I said right as I lifted my head to the person. Bollocks. This kid is stalking me I swear.

“So? Are you going to answer my question?” My first thought was to scream ‘NO!!!’ and run away dramatically, but it’s too late for that. I should have gone with the first one and ignored them. Because little did I know then that one decision was going to change everything. And I don’t like change. At all. Damn you Albus Potter.

“I finished eating.” I said not making eye contact with him. He nodded and sat on the rug at my feet.

He smirked and cocked his head. “Meghan or Ashley?”

My heart stopped. My lips gapped as my jaw fell loose. All I did was stare at him. To shocked to answer.

“Ashley.” He said answering his own question. “Meghan would have denied knowing a girl Ashley.” He said next answering my unspoken question.

“H-how… Huh? … Wha?” Were the most intelligent things I could managed to say.

“Caught you off-guard, didn’t I love?” Albus said, his smirk only getting wider.

I shook my head as if it’d clear the shock away. “Woah, woah, woah. Wait.” I said looking at him. “How do you know who I am?”

“Well, it did some thinking.” Which must have been hard for you to do, Mr. Potter. “And began to put two and two together. I came to realize that Meghan had a sister, a twin to be exact.” He raised his eyebrows at me. “I don’t understand how I hadn’t realized or noticed it before.” He paused and it was my turn to raise my eyebrows. “Not it, you.” He corrected himself. “Your yelling at me two days in arrow also helped.” I nodded my head.

“Oh.” Was all I could say. “Well this is awkward.”

He let out a laugh and stuck out his hand to me. “I think an explanation is needed, but also a proper introduction. Hello, and nice to meet you. I’m Albus Potter.” I glanced at his out stretched hand. If I shook it would it mean that I was excepting him to talk to me? To acknowledge me? What does he think he’s doing!? Does he not realize how much trouble and danger this one encounter will put us both in? Ahhh hell with it! Shake his hand and say your name! The voice in my head screamed. I shrugged and grabbed his hand.

“Ashley Wood.” I said looking at him. He seemed impressed with himself for figuring out who I was. “I’m Meghan’s secret twin sister. Nothing I say or do will be intelligent and, or seem anywhere near the expectations that are set, which only Meghan will ever be able to surpass.” I said sarcastically. If he wanted an explanation that’s as far as I will go. I’m already pushing my limits and luck. If he truly wanted to know about who I was he could ask Meghan. Well actually no, that’s not really a smart idea.

“So, Ms. Wood, care to explain why in the world you think that you’re not capable of being intelligent? Or even exceed peoples expectations ?”

“Not really.” I told him, but he gave me a look that told me that, that wasn’t the answer he was looking for. My point exactly. I sighed, “Maybe because there’s proof.”

He looked at me for a second, “Well, I’m the middle child of the most famous wizard to live, who hasn’t set any expectations what so ever. I was given a completely normal name and lastly everything I do is perfect.” So Potter does sarcasm, or at least I hope he doesn’t find his name normal.

“No, no I was being sarcastic. My name is ridiculous, but it is meaningful.” Shit.

“I could’ve sworn I said that in my head.” I said, he chuckled. “Oh yeah, I also talk to myself.”

“I’ve noticed.” He was about to say more, but I cut him off when the portrait opened and students began to poor in.

“I-I... I gotta go. It was nice meeting you though!” I said as I dove off the side of the chair and made a beeline for the girls dorms.

“Wait, why?!” Al yelled to me.

“Cause I’m the bottom of the food chain!” I called over my shoulder and disappeared up the spiral staircase.
